    Bad Turkey

Tried the Spring Creek BBQ Thursday the 29th of January 2026, the prices are the highest in DFW, and the meat is at best poor quality , the sides are OK, corn is a 5 star, and bread is a 5 star always fresh cooked, i don't order beef any more as it is dry and just a low quality meat, I only order turkey this time, ate 1 slice and noticed the turkey had a bad spot in it , so I just ate the one slice and brought the rest home to our dogs, the cost for a few rolls and a 1/2 half corn on the cob was way - way high, if i go back, i will only order vegetables and rolls.

Southern Californian visiting my pops in Arlington, TX. We went to Spring Creek for the first time and this place delivers! The meats and sides were fresh and delicious! Loved the rustic country feel of the place too. First we met William, "person who gave meat". He not only did that, he chopped our brisket live and explained the process like a guru. He was good, very good. Then was Shelby "person who gave sides", I'll add "Queen of the sides", "master of mac n' cheese". She made the sides and she knew everything. Every. Thning. She gave us BBQ sauce and sent us on our way! Then Maya, who checked us out so fast, so smooth and efficient. Too perfect imo. So how does a place run this well? I wish I met the General Manager and the one who hired these fine folks!! We need this in Cali! So I know my pops will be back and I'll definitely be back when my LA Dodgers play your TX Rangers! 02/10/25 Monday dine-in.

Well, cafeteria style which I'm not a fan, but, is what it is... Combo - Ribs, Chicken, Mac & Cheese, D. Coke & piece of Banana Crean Coconut Pie. We both had same, but other half had Pinto Beans & Green Beans, Banana Pudding. Total $63.00 Ribs greasy. Chicken delious! Mac & Cheese couldn't eat it, lousy. Green Beans good & Pinto Beans AWESOME! Dessert, mine, Pie, still frozen Banana Pudding good. You have to get a tray and move down a 'line' where they serve you. The metal runner our tray was on was filthy!! Hadn't been wiped down at all Should of been our 1st clue ... Will we be back, NO. With so many choices in Arlington, TX, please, I can find better. Would I recommend? NO, sorry.

Then I accidentally parked in the wrong spot while going to get my nails done, looked up, and saw Hurtado. Clearly, lunch was meant to happen! I ordered the three-meat plate with brisket, ribs, and poblano sausage, plus bacon ranch potato salad, macaroni and cheese, and tater tot casserole. I'll admit, I wondered whether all the extras in the sides might be doing too much. Well, after bringing everything home and digging in, I can say it absolutely worked. The ribs were tender and delicious, with great barbecue flavor. The poblano sausage was amazing! I've had jalapeño cheddar sausage before, but this was something different and so good. The brisket had a wonderful smoky flavor, although it wasn't quite as tender as I expected on my first serving. It had cooled down some by the time I got home, and when I reheated it for round two, it was much more tender. Next time, I'll ask whether I can get a leaner cut, just as a personal preference. Now, the sides deserve their own moment. The bacon ranch potato salad had a finely mashed texture, with delicious bacon and green onions on top. Chef's kiss! The macaroni and cheese had spiral pasta, a little jalapeño heat, and such a creamy, delicious sauce. I've never had any quite like it. The tater tot casserole was another winner. It reminded me a little of Cracker Barrel's hash brown casserole, but with a smoky, bacon-like flavor and a much finer potato texture. My first thought was, "Is this cauliflower?" It wasn't--it was just a different texture than I expected, and oh my goodness, it was good. Even the bread had that sweet, Hawaiian-style taste that I love. I'm picky about barbecue sauce, so I wasn't sure what to expect there either. This one was sweet with a hint of Tex mex flavor and a little something different in the seasoning that worked so well with the barbecue. I loved it. The portions were generous, especially the sides, and my takeout container was full of meat and two slices of bread. Service was quick, too. My food came out about five minutes after I sat down, and they offered me water while I waited. I went in hoping the food would live up to everything I'd heard, and it was even better than I imagined. Everything had its own flavor, and it all came together so well. Now I'm thinking about that meal and already looking forward to going back!

Then me and my wife ordered an order of burnt ends and a cornbread and brisket side dish. When we got home they had, I had assumed that the burnt ends that we ordered was missing but we, after eating some of the burnt that were packaged in the aluminum pan because we thought they were ours, they realized that they had put ours and theirs together. They should separate when one order has and not add another order to that portion. Separate those orders. Anyway just kinda makes it look like we got shorted and as the price of you Hefe is 54$ it should stand alone in it packaging and no mix other orders together. Again the food was great but I feel like I got burnt of the burnt ends portion especially sharing with everyone vs have our own to eat.... Let down! Excuse any grammar issues please.

Go. Show up early. Wait. Order lots of food. Don't forget dessert. It's all worth it…read more... Hands down, the best barbecue experience I've ever had. I was born and raised in Texas, so I've had my fair share of barbecue, but Goldee's takes it to another level. I recently moved away from Texas, and for my last weekend in town, all I wanted was one more great Texas barbecue experience. A few friends and I decided on Goldie's on a Saturday, and knowing it can get busy, we committed to the full experience. We showed up around 8:30 a.m. with lawn chairs, a cooler of drinks, and some games, and turned the wait into a tailgate. Right before they opened, a staff member came outside and walked everyone through the menu and ordering process. She explained the regular menu items and the specials they were featuring that day, which was helpful when it came time to decide what to order. And as a group of six, we ordered a lot. Honestly, that's the way to do barbecue: get a little bit of everything or, in our case, a lot of everything. The sliced brisket was fantastic, the pork spare ribs were excellent, and the pork belly was incredible. The pork belly was probably the biggest surprise for me because I've never considered myself a huge pork belly fan, but Goldee's may have completely changed my mind. The jalapeño sausage was also delicious. They were featuring Brahman that day, which was similar to brisket, and that was another standout. We also got a beef rib, which was, of course, fantastic. For sides, we had the mac and cheese and pork hash, and both were excellent. And then there's the banana pudding. I love banana pudding, and I genuinely don't think you can leave Goldee's without ordering it. Even a couple of the guys with us who aren't big dessert or sweets people were raving about it. From the food to the staff to the entire experience of hanging out with friends and tailgating before opening, Goldee's was everything I wanted for my last Texas barbecue stop. If you're serious about barbecue, Goldee's needs to be on your list.

I'm sorry but I would not recommend this barbecue joint. Sorry guys, I love your story and think…read moreit's cool. I'm assuming you guys live not having to work a full week and make enough money in a couple of days to live happily. But I'm just gonna tell you the truth from a customer's perspective. Let me first tell you that I have been a barbecue fanatic for approximately 7 years. It started the first time I went to a REAL barbecue joint in Lockhart. I had no idea barbecue could be this good. Then when I saw my first Texas Monthly Top 50 Passport at Hutchins in McKinney, I was on a mission. That award period I visited 38 of the top 50. Since then I've probably been to 60+ locations that have at one time or another landed on the Top 50 list. I've only been to Goldee's once but here are my take away: - I arrived at 11:00am on a Friday. The line wasn't terrible and I made it to the counter at 12:30pm. In just that short period of time they ran out of all their specialty offerings for the day except lamb sausage, which can be common. But they also ran out of their everyday pork ribs. Now COME ON! This place was #1 last ranking and #3 this time. You can't cook enough ribs to take care of customers that line up when you open? - The lamb sausage was very good. It definitely stood out as something unique, memorable and noteworthy. - Brisket was good but nothing that made me think it was better than most and definitely not worth coming back and standing in line for. - Side items: all they had that was appealing to me was Mac and cheese and pinto beans and neither of those were notable. - I ordered a beef rib because they were out of everything else. No turkey, pork, chicken. It was like any other beef rib. Good but way too rich and greasy. I can never eat much of that. And I like VERY moist (fatty) brisket. - That brings me to my next point. This is the ONLY place I have ever heard of that does not let you pick the style of brisket you like. They force you to take half moist and half lean. The reason I never cared for barbecue (particularly brisket) before I went to Lockhart was because it was too dry. Even with proper Texas BBQ, I NEVER eat lean brisket. There just isn't enough flavor and juice for my liking. On the other hand, I know several people that hate all the fat. And they are forcing those people to take what they do not like in order to get what they want. It is an insane way to serve Texas BBQ. - Drinks? They have a standup cooler with some sodas and bottled tea. It's hard to find a BBQ joint in Texas that does serve fresh brewed tea. They don't. - Location and seating: it's basically like a single-wide mobile home. Very small entry/order area and very few seats. If you don't get there 2 hours before they open, you will be standing outside for 1.5+ hours, maybe spend 15 mins inside, and have to take your food to go. - Hours?! I'm sorry, I understand you can do what you want, work when you want, have whatever quality of life you want. But if you're gonna be sought out as the best of the best in Texas, think about your customers. Limiting yourself to only being open a couple of days per week makes it very difficult and uncomfortable for your customers to visit you. I can see you getting a handful of regulars and all those people like me that HAVE TO try you, but it definitely is not geared towards taking care of us and wanting us to come back. Bottom line, if you HAVE TO try them, I suggest getting there 1.5-2 hours before they open on a Friday. If you get there at 11, there's a good chance you will have wasted time in line for mediocre barbecue with very limited options. But these are the reasons why I would never recommend you and never think about coming back.
