I ordered the pork chop plate, and the server kindly let me try both a fried pork chop and a smothered one since I couldn't make up my mind. I also had fried cabbage and yams. The cabbage had a little unexpected heat to it, but that's actually the same way my family cooks theirs, so I ended up really enjoying it. One thing that stood out to me was the staff. I'm not sure if the restaurant is always staffed this way, but I was genuinely impressed that all the front-line workers were men -- and every single one of them was courteous, respectful, patient, and mindful of each customer. While I enjoyed my meal, I watched them treat each person who walked in with the same positive energy and attentiveness. If you're in the area, go support this restaurant. The food, the atmosphere, and the service all made my first visit a memorable one.

The young man who answered the phone was very kind and ensured he had my order correct. Even verified I was ok with paying over the phone before he took my order. I arrived about 15 minutes later and once inside the cashier called for my order number then requested to see the card I paid with and my ID. In today's world it's comforting to know there are businesses verifying identity! Kudos!! Once seated at home I opened my container to hot fried catfish, tomatoes and okra, Mac n cheese and hot water cornbread. My first bite of everything was very good and seasoned to perfection. I got so full so quick that I wasn't able to finish but it made for perfect leftovers later that day. On to the desserts! My mom got a slice of pecan pie and I enjoyed the strawberry cake. Both were tasty and prepared perfectly! I will stop in again for fried pork chops when it's time for an off plan meal.

Want a southern Louisiana breakfast in Fort Worth? Check out Fixe Southern House in ClearFork…read more Sunday brunch was so nice. Went for the biscuits, but our very wise waitress, Adriana, warned us that the biscuits were made with lard. Well that knocked out a bunch or breakfast options. She was so sweet and actually went to the kitchen and marked the menu pointing out lard-free menu choices. On the menu. Using black ink dots. Above and beyond. So we regrouped our breakfast plans and went mainly vegetarian. The Herbivore was absolutely delicious! Antebellum cheese grits topped with garlicky kale, romanesco and a soft boiled egg. We added a second egg. Split with my hubby. So good!! My sister-in-law had the brioche French toast. French toast topped with honey better, fresh berries and pecan granola. Served with maple syrup. Amazing! Added the duck fat breakfast potatoes. Who knew that the flavor would be so enhanced with the onions, peppers and duck fat. Get this side! Not a coffee drinker, but my hubby really enjoyed the coffee that is sourced from Cusco, Peru. Adriana made sure that the cups were always full and hot. Thank you for the VIP service at Fixe Southern House. Resident discount applied. Born from Opelousas, Louisiana, breakfast served with a huge helping of southern hospitality. We started with the biscuits and cinnamon roll. I would recommend both. The biscuits came with a jam, honey and whipped butter. The cinnamon roll, which may look a bit underwhelming had a such a great crispy texture on the outside while still being fluffy on the inside. The icing wasn't too sweet and complimented the roll nicely. For the table, we had the pollo frito biscuit w/duck fat potatoes, Brisket Benedict w/okra and the Fixe Breakfast entree w/maple sausage and potatoes. The pollo Frito was delicious, the chicken was seasoned well and maintained crunch even within the biscuit. Duck fat potatoes were also good but were even better after adding some salt. The brisket benny was okay, the texture of the brisket was very odd and didn't really hold up to the egg. Although the okra had a great flavor the batter was a bit too thick which made it chewy. The Fixe breakfast was great and the maple sausage was perfect. Our waitress was Adriana, she was great and very helpful. Overall we would definitely come back and look forward to trying dinner one night.

The interior is spacious, fun, and modern, with a fantastic looking bar. Our server explained their specialties and frequently stopped by to check on us and fill our water. Overall: 3.6/5 [dine in]…read more We had a party of 9 for Sunday lunch and the service was a bit slow with the food taking a while to come out. The place is beautiful though and was giving elevated casual vibes. Lewellyn's Fine Fried Chicken ($40): Comes with half a bird, mashed potatoes, and a side salad. We swapped the mashed potatoes for crispy brussels. They weren't very crispy but had a generous amount of spiced honey glaze that made them sweet and yummy. The side salad was good. The fried chicken itself was just okay though. There was a lot of meat, and it wasn't dry but the flavors were lacking and the skin wasn't as crispy as I was hoping. I ended up eating mine with a lot of hot sauce. Deviled Eggs with Jalapeno and Bacon Jam ($18): Pretty average. The bacon jam leaned too sweet and overpowered the eggs so you lost any savory flavor. Smoked Sausage ($9): A huge sausage link cut in half with incredible flavor. My friend let me try her sharp cheddar waffle and it wasn't bad but just too subtle for me. It did taste better after air frying it since it crisped up on the outside. Yardbird Hashbrowns ($10): A bit pricey but worth trying at least once. Two thick slabs of hashbrowns that were super crispy and looked and tasted completely different from your typical hashbrowns. Perfectly seasoned too. The dipping sauce was the only miss since it just didn't complement them well. My husband and I shared, and the food was very filling so we had leftovers.

Let me first start by saying that I found their restaurant on yelp last October and they were in…read morethe process of opening but I'm sure with covid-19, this probably slowed the process of them opening. Last week, I saw that they were having their grand opening today so I was excited to come out and give them a try. There was about a dozen or so people in line prior to their opening. When I walked inside the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was the Blues music in the background. The guy in front of me gave us all a free concert because he knew every song. LOL They have a walk up counter for online orders or you can go to your right for take out. They are not open for dine in yet so please keep that in mind. Also, masks have to be worn by customers so don't forget yours at home or the car. Now onto the food, I ordered a fried pork chop dinner which comes with two pork chops, mac and cheese, green beans and cornbread. For anyone that does not like cornbread, you also have the choice of a dinner roll. All dinners come with your choice of two sides. I thought that was it for me until I saw the pound cake so you know I had to grab a slice. I paid for my food and then left. I love that they cook their green beans with small chunks of potatoes and pieces of bacon. The mac and cheese looks nothing like the picture advertised. It's not baked mac and cheese at all. Maybe they are trying to save on the cost but when I think of macaroni and cheese, I think of real shredded cheese baked over cheesy macaroni. The cornbread is ok but smaller than your average cornbread muffin. Now onto the cake. Oh my goodness. This is the best slice of pound cake that I have had in Dallas. The cake is very moist and delicious. I have tried plenty of pound cakes and most places are dry with no flavor. I believe they are going to have different menu items everyday. They have just about every type of meat you can think of, Fried Catfish, Pork Steak with gravy, Pork Ribs, Fried Pork Chops, Spaghetti. UPDATE- I ate half of my pork chop and the rest of my meal. The next day, I was going to eat the rest of my pork chops but visually I didn't want it. I tossed the rest in the trash. I don't know if it's the quality of meat that they used but I seen black spots throughout the meat. I didn't really pay attention to how much my meal cost but when I checked my receipt, I paid $14.00 for my meal and $4.00 for the cake. This is very expensive for the portions they offer but I tried to overlook it since this is their grand opening. There are other soulfood restaurants in the area that offer huge portions for 2-3 days and everything is made from scratch. Hopefully, they will take this into consideration and make changes to their pricing and make all items from scratch. FYI- Check before you come if you are looking for a specific menu item. I will probably come back if I am in the area and have a taste for a slice of pound cake but I will pass on the food. They are about a 45 minute trip. Customer service is excellent.
