This was my first experience with Spring Creek, and it was a take-out order. The meats were great; brisket, turkey, and sausage. The bread rolls were a nice touch. The potato salad, cole slaw, and Italian beans were solid. The half corn on the cob was water-logged, my advice is don't choose that one, the other sides should be fine. Overall what I liked was that the food was not overly salty. The website was clear and easy to use, they packed up our order very quickly and I was in and out in less than a minute. Spring Creek during the lunchtime special is my current favorite. I went yesterday and dined in. I chose the lean cut brisket with beans, green beans, and bread. I wasn't a fan of their beans, but OMG, the green beans were amazing! I also really enjoyed the brisket and bread. I got a Togo order of ribs, double green beans, and bread for my father. He couldn't believe the green beans arrived so hot. He enjoyed his meal, as well. Since I'm a creature of habit, I popped back in today for an order for myself to go. Again, amazing food! The mac and cheese here always sucks. I have never gone here and said "mmm this is good Mac n cheese" which is unfortunate because I have to come here often because my mom likes the place. The sides are always cold and lacking. Can you drive over to Killens and see how Mac and cheese is supposed to taste? Take pride in your sides. So, we've been going here for years. Its definitely not for the customer service, the main manager( older big guy) is not friendly at all. We always have to wait for rolls. The girl usually doesn't get to our table until we're almost done with our meal. Its really expensive too, but usually good ribs, unless you get em on a bad day when its all fat. Anyways, tonight NYE, ordered curbside, I get a call... 10m later saying they're " out of ribs" reallllly!!,?? She says they can replace with baby back instead. I asked how long, she said 5m. Our cole slaw had no taste, no flavor at all. It was bland. I ordered a piece of the coconut cream pie. It was frozen and there was no way I could eat it there. I was disappointed that I could not eat the pie there but knew I could take it home and let it thaw out. My husband spoke to the manager about the cole slaw and pie. the manager just looked at him and shrugged his shoulders. No apology about any of it, nor did he offer of a refund on the slaw. As I was going through the cafeteria style line it felt a lot like Luby's. The jello next to the cash register confirmed my deja vu. The Barbecue Fiend blog also confirmed my out of Luby's body experience as he wrote about the very same. Luby's meets Texas BBQ. I scored Spring Creek BBQ a 76 out of 100. This is Regional Texas BBQ. Smoke: Hickory. As I walked up to the front door, I got excited when I spotted two large smoke stacks. However, inside were two large black steel cladded Ole Hickorys on full display. We use gas and we're proud of it! Oh well as least you know what your getting. Brisket: Good. Standard gasser 1/8in smoke ring beneath a paper thin bark. Spring Creek definitely understands how important tenderness is for good BBQ. My slices were near perfect tender. No knife needed. Smoke was mild to faint. No noticeable rub. Use the sauce. Ribs: Very Good. Once again near perfect tenderness but slightly on the overcooked side. Soft cake bite with clean bone. They throw the rack on a grill for a nice char flavor. There was a faint rub seasoning. I liked these ribs. No sauce needed. Sausage: Poor. I just don't like this style of sausage and its not Texas style sausage. A very fine ground pork link with no traditional spice just salt. No after taste unless salt counts. Its greasy bologna. Use the sauce or skip all together. Sauce: Excellent. They sell this stuff by the jar and I bet sales are good. A very sweet tomato based sauce with a little bit of smokiness. This stuff was so good I dipped my fresh baked yeast roll in it. I thought about buying a jar but knew the wife would comment about the 6 other bottles of unopened sauce. read more

Okay to start off, walking in the "meat guy" did not greet us nor even ask what we wanted. He was just silent looking at us along with the girl on the sides as if something was wrong with us. Keeping it going everyone is silent and not speaking at all. Time to eat and foods cold besides the sides which are on hot holding table.. soo with that being said if you want cold bbq, no one to speak to you or acknowledge your existence then come on down to Spring creek. With so many great barbeque places in Houston, Spring Creek Barbeque is not a stand out. The barbeque here is a little bit too sweet and it all kind of tastes the same. Perhaps it is just me, but I am not thrilled with their sauce so it kind of colors the entire experience. I think, if you like your BBQ on the sugary side, this would be much higher on your list. Overall, things are well prepared and the portions are large so that aspect of the restaurant is appealing. You can also grab meats to go by the pound. I was really disappointed they didn't offer brisket by the pound though. It is one of the best things about BBQ and they don't even offer it. No star for you, Spring Creek! With so many BBQ options in Houston, I think I'll pass on another visit to Spring Creek. Many people love it but it just isn't for me. read more

So disappointed. We came to celebrate July 4th and we were met with an awful experience. First, the meat guy was not very pleasant. He seemed irritated that we were there. The rest of the staff also looked unhappy to be there too. It made for a bad atmosphere to start. Then when we sat down to eat our meal, the brisket was cold. Like fridge cold. We told the manager, and he offered to exchange it, but we declined because the manager that helped us seem very disheveled, unkept and a bit off. We decided to pack up our meal and bring it home so we could warm it up in the microwave. We paid $60 for a meal that was cold. Best barbecue spot in Houston. I usually order my food for take out , food is always ready in less than 15 minutes after you place your order. Staff is very friendly and will greet you when you're entering. I always order a couple pounds of baby back ribs and the half chicken. I got 4 rolls with my food, temperature was nice and hot and so were my ribs and chicken . When you bite into the baby back ribs you can tell the meat falls right off the bone and is cooked to perfection . My mom likes to come here because the sides are all you can eat. However, the sides aren't even that good. Usually the meat is dry =/ bummer. The only GREAT thing about this place is that they make fresh rolls every 15 minutes and then a worker walks around with a woven basket and passes them out. haha, but I don't need to pay 10 dollars to eat delicious, buttery dinner rolls. While I,m still on the hunt for the best Bar-B-Que in Katy (Haven't found it yet) This place was aiiight. We stopped by this spot for the 4th of July because we see it all the time while driving and because we couldn't find anyone that was grilling for the 4th. The meat portions were on the small side but the fact that you could come back for extra sides kinda made up for it. The sides were ok just the standard (baked beans,Mac and cheese,Potato salad,etc). We enjoyed the rolls which i wished was ready when we wanted it(not by having to wait every 15 minutes). We came around 6:30pm ish. We decided that we wanted to try their baked potatoes. When we sat down to eat it looked amazing. Once we ate it felt more like mash potatoes. Our topping was sausages. You can tell already that the sausage was left out for a long time. The bread they gave us was very cold already. It was upsetting. Went to the one on 1960 for BBQ beef sandwiches, potato salad and macaroni & cheese take out on a Sunday about 5. The food was so bland that I would swear it came from a hospital if I didn't know better. The potato salad was dry in a strange way, like it has sat out in the kitchen without being covered close to an oven because it was slightly warm and had that crusty places on some of it. I threw it away because I was scared of food poisoning. I live 5 minutes away from here and on a cool day there is NO reason in this world for potato salad to be that warm, not even being in with the food, it was warm all the way through it. The mac and cheese while it looks appealing is anything but. It tasted like elbow noodles without any type of sauce or cheese or even salt or pepper. The bright orange stuff that comes out of a box is better than this stuff was. It was actually cooler to the touch than the potato salad was. It is defiantly made in a factory by people who hate their jobs. Apparently, they have some food handling/preparation issues, I microwaved it before I let anyone eat any of it even though I doubt it contained any real dairy products, but better safe than fighting over the bathroom for the next 3 days. The sandwiches were just kind of ok. No real BBQ flavor, no smokey flavor, nothing but the faint taste of the seasoning they used to BBQ it with. It didn't taste like it had been smoked, it reminded me of that stuff you can buy at HEB that is already cooked, but this was more on the dry/old side. Even the seeded bun was stale and dry. I always get the fatty brisket, which I think is better than Brookstreet and better than Rudy's. We have been coming here off and on for spirit nights for daughter and the occasional meal out. Overall, this is decent bbq. Is it the best? No. But is it good? Yes. I order lean sliced beef that's always been great only problem I've had is if I don't eat my sandwich right away the bread gets hard. If i could give this establishment 0 stars I would . It's unfortunate because me and a few coworkers came to this place multiple times and have never had any problems . Today me and two other coworkers walked in , who so happened to be of the minority group. One of my coworkers decided to order a kids meal (aware that it was 12 and under) but was willing to pay whatever extra charge was required . The manager Darryl McMullen who was no where in sight until we got to the line decided to tell my coworker that the kids meal was for kids and that she would have to pay extra . She said she was aware of that and was willing pay . He then said in a snarky tone"I'm just letting you know and to take her number" . My coworker then turned to look at us and was saying she know what she's ordering, why he act like he can't read and why was he messing with her. He then asked to repeat herself which she did and he said "there's the door, you can leave". My coworker said okay and left and me and another coworker were waiting for our food to be made . Prior to this , we didn't say one word to him . He then turns to me and my other coworker and says "y'all can leave too" . I was asked what are people getting kicked out for "he said because she's rude". It's extremely important that establishments remember to hire people with respect and value . Wait staff totally apathetic when I told them I was trying to grab the out of place plates to order. We ordered bbq ribs and brisket, both were super salty, and not nearly as tasty as Ruby's. The potato salad tasted funny. I had diarrhea which started about four hours after lunch, and didn't end for two days. After seeing a news report on the local news this morning, we will never visit any Spring Creek Barbeque even if food quality and management improve. The news report was about a 16 year old working her 1st job at Spring Creek Barbeque. The girl was sexually harassed by a manager. After she finally told her parents, her parents filed reports with Spring Creek Corporate and police. Nothing was done so they hired an attorney who has statements from other minor girls that were also sexually harassed by the same manager and has filed a lawsuit. That manager is no longer at this Spring Creek location. His butt needs to be in jail! I'm sure he continues to sexually harass young women. The lawsuit is to have Spring Creek Corporate train their managers and employees about sexual harrassment and what do when it happens. Young women don't apply for a job here and people don't eat here. Food is subpar and why would you eat at a place that allows sexual harassment of young women? read more

All servers and staff seemed rude and unhelpful. Not one person said, hello, or any greeting. No smile. The manager said they are out of potatoes and no apology. This is a staple for me and my boyfriend when we are in Houston. There are limited choices in Houston and most places are chains. The atmosphere here is very lively. The employees make a huge ruckus during your order. I don't know what they are saying half the time but it makes me more excited to get my bbq. The bbq comes on a plate in which you can add as much sides as you can fit. There are potato salad, beans, corn, macaroni and cheese, and cole slaw. The sides are all mediocre. I really should just stop trying BBQ places, this one feel much like my last review. Yawn. In a city full of amazing BBQ, how is it that places like Spring Creek can keep the lights on? All of the food that I tried tastes like it came straight from a can. Maybe they sit in the back and heat up TV dinners whenever someone orders. The all you can eat sides sound tempting, but there was not one that I would have gone back for seconds for. They just tastes blah. Zero flavor to anything. Except the sauce. The sauce had flavor. That flavor was SWEET. That's it, just sweet. It's the first time I have *ever* brushed the BBQ off my meal.
