A 2-year Michellin star BBQ joint was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. My friends and I got there around 10am and were lucky enough to grab a number. The number secures your spot in line but don't worry if you show up and they run out, there's a spot on the porch where the non-number line starts. We ordered moist brisket, garlic sausage, and the beef rib. For sides, we went with mac and cheese and beans. Everything was superb! The brisket melted in your mouth, no knife needed. The sausage had a nice snap to it and get great flavor. The bark on the beef rib was *chef's kiss*. The mac and cheese was creamy while the beans had a nice sweet and tangy flavor. The service is also great! While we were eating, staff would regularly check all of the tables to check if anyone needed anything. We went on a Saturday and showed up around 10:45, the line was definitely long and our wait was about 45 minutes. While waiting outside there is water and also employees coming around asking people if they wanted to purchase drinks. Once we made it inside, the gentleman who took our order was funny and kind. CorkScrew BBQ definitely lives up to their name by receiving a Michelin Star achievement. Visited on Saturday and will have to say it is worth the wait. While parking space is limited, there is a lot of space to dine both indoor and outdoor. Both are provided with a shade cover and fans. The services is amazing having servers provide drinks when waiting outside and holding up the crowded lobby well by keeping it clean and restocking necessities to customers. We got some ribs, moist brisket, and a jalapeño cheese link to share. The ribs were the best I've ever had!!! The brisket and sausage were some of the best bbq I've ever had, as well. The ribs were clearly my favorite, so I ate more of those. They had the right amount of smoke flavor and seasoning, and they were perfectly fall-off-the-bone, but still had a little bite to them. CORKSCREW BBQ is Houston's Michelin star restaurant! It is about 30 minutes drive north of Houston, which isn't super bad. They are only open Wednesday-Saturday 11AM-4PM. We came a little earlier and there was already a long line. I heard that if you order in advance, you can skip the line. While you wait, the employees walk around and you can order a drink. Which is nice if you're waiting a while and it gets hot. The employees were all very nice and ambiance is how you would expect a regular bbq restaurant to be. There are plenty of seating outside but limited inside. The seats are all first come first serve, so usually the inside seating runs out first. We ordered 1/2lb ribs, 1/2lb brisket, 1/2lb sausages, and some sides like Mac&cheese, beans, loaded potato, cobbler, etc. total was about $120 after tip. The food was very delicious and worth the drive. Although, I will say that it doesn't taste that much different from my other favorite bbq restaurants. The line was packed, but honestly, everything was so well organized that it moved pretty quickly. Seating was something we were initially worried about, but it ended up not being an issue at all. There's plenty of space both inside and outside, and the outdoor area is huge. As for the food--everything was phenomenal. Crazy enough only my second time coming here after moving to the area several years ago. Amazing food; we didn't show up at opening either. We went there around 1 PM and got in a line that moved consistently .They still had everything. I know why they are on the list! I know why they have a coveted spot with Michelin, and it is a very well deserved spot!! A group of friends and myself are trying to get ourselves to all the top TX BBQ spots, and I love that this one is a quick ride over from Tomball! We knew that we were going to need to get there early, so we arrived by 10 AM to get a number to start our wait. We were #15, and you just need one number per group. If you check the website ahead of your visit, they have tons of useful information on there, from where to park if the lot is full, recommendation on arrival time, ordering prior to pickup and much more! As we waited, there were some great areas to sit while you wait outside, they do ask that you don't take up tables if you're not dining yet, which is appreciated for once you do get your food. We had a group of about 10, and we all knew what we were getting, so it made the ordering process pretty seamless. The one thing I can appreciate about Corkscrew over a few other places we visited, is that they take your order, take your name, and you wait for your name to be called to grab your food. While it is nice to see your plate sliced, diced, and everything nice, that typically tends to be the cause for the long waits, so this was pretty smooth going in. Five of us out of our group decided to share a plate so that we could get a variety of everything and nothing, I mean NOTHING disappointed! IT SLAPPED!!! We went with the brisket (did a mix of moist and lean), pork ribs, regular sausage, and the jalapeño sausage, and ALLLLL of the sides, the mac n cheese, potato salad, coleslaw, and beans, with a side of cobbler! The ribs, hands down, absolutely amazing. Fall off the bone, and was in no need of sauce. I am a sauce girly, but kept finding myself bite after bite without trying the two together. I typically like moist/lean together chopped up, but I went with the lean, and the bark on it was delicious, salty, beautiful in color, and dipped in the BBQ was a delightful bite, that I could take over and over again! Out of the sausages, I'd say the jalapeño was my favorite. It had a slight undertone of spice, but not spicy at all, and the creaminess of the cheese with the snap of each bite won me over! Ordered our bbq favorites to compare... moist brisket and garlic sausage (ran out o the Jalapeño cheddar sausage). Heading somewhere else so had it to go. They wrap it in individually on aluminum foil to keep it warm. The brisket was super moist. You can see the juice dripping from it with a slight touch. The garlic sausage was ok... My work schedule makes it pretty much impossible for me to ever give this bbq joint a try, but I FINALLY had the opportunity over the 4th of July weekend. CorkScrew was popular long before they earned their Michelin star earlier this year, so expect a long line, and expect it to form quickly. If you arrive early enough, you can snag a number to save one of the first ~26-ish spots in line (though I'm not sure if the total amount changes day by day or not). The day I went, I was lucky and got #6 in line. With that number, it still took about 15 minutes until I reached the counter to order, but it didn't feel so bad considering it was a holiday weekend (and a big one for barbecue, at that). We ordered about a pound of moist brisket and one portion of Creekstone Prime Beef Rib, the latter of which is only available on Saturdays. Both were insanely tender & moist with a great crust. No sauce needed. We also ordered sides of the 3-Cheese Mac (delicious with a great bite from the pasta shell) and the Creamy Potato Salad (creamy with what seems to be a combo mayo-mustard base). And while it might be sacrilegious of me to say, the star of the show for me... was their peach cobbler!! The textures were so delightful, the flavor was perfectly peachy without being too sweet, and was a great contrast to the salty/fattiness of our main course. I'll be thinking about it for a long time. All told, this portion size of food was perfect for us as a family of four. The employees were super friendly and kept an eye out for us if we needed anything, either while waiting in line or when we were seated with the food. They also do watch out for people saving tables before they've ordered, so just wait in line until it's your turn- the space will open up when your time comes. The line really can get insane, but they take care of you with electric fans and water, and once you're inside you can amuse yourself by decorating the chalkboard while you wait. TLDR; get a number if you can, get the peach cobbler if you can, go on a Saturday and try their prime rib if you can. Got there on a Friday during lunch rush and waited about ~45 mins in line to order and get our food. Not too bad of a wait IMO. They had water, chairs, and other drinks available to buy while you wait in line. The brisket sandwich was amazing! Brisket plate, turkey, and the sausage link satisfied our cravings. Since they were awarded their Michelin star, I've been wanting to try CorkScrew... in particular, their beef rib. Beef ribs are my go to bbq protein, and not many places have them. I've tried those deemed "the best," including Salt Lick in Driftwood and Killen's. So how did CorkScrew measure up? In addition to the beef rib, we tried the moist brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. We also tried several sides, including those recommended in the Michelin review: potato salad, mac and cheese, smokey beans, and coleslaw, and I picked up a peach cobbler, as well. The beef rib: STELLAR. This was outstanding with its flavorful bark and an impossibly tender texture that truly melts in your mouth, unlike any other beef rib I've ever had. Easily the very best beef rib, without a doubt. The brisket was delicious, as well: tender and flavorful. The sausage was nothing special... on par with sausage elsewhere, as was the pork. As for the sides, I've never been a fan of beans, but since the Michelin review specifically mentioned them, I gave them a try. I'm a fan! I would definitely order these again. Their smokiness is gently tamed by a touch of sweetness. The rest? Very average. The mac and cheese tasted like the stuff I had in my elementary school cafeteria - very un-special. The potato salad was salty and was missing any semblance of potato chunks. The texture was oddly like lumpy mashed potatoes. But the other surprise for me: the cobbler. This was simply and divinely perfect with crisp, sweet buttery crumble. A wonderful way to end a hearty meal. I'm so glad I ordered our food online for pickup. When I arrived at 1pm, the line was wrapped around the building. Pickup was very easy: I texted them when I arrived, and they replied when they were ready for me to go in and retrieve it. But even if there wasn't a line, I would never eat there: the restaurant is too divey for me: very rustic, picnic-like feel both inside and out, and it was uncomfortably warm and humid (again, inside and out.) So I can't tell about the food just yet because after 2 hours waiting in line, my friend had a flight to catch so we had to leave. So we went there around 11 30 on a Wednesday. My husband has eaten there before and raves about the food so we said we'd give it a try even though he warned about the long wait time. The line was already long but we joined. It was a cool day almost cold if you go in the shade, but we chatted, listened to the background music as we moved slowly in the line. Our aim was to leave there at one, hoping to have gotten our food to go. The line was so slow. There were waiters that came out to take drink order which I didn't buy because we didn't know when we'd get our food (but I guess that's a failsafe idea just incase you have to leave and not get the food they still made a sale of some sort). They have a water station outside with saltine crackers, benches and tables and some kids toys to use in the gravel. They have tents and umbrellas for shade. When we finally got on the porch of the restaurant I went inside to see it's set up. The tables were all taken with customers and the line was long also. They have only 2 cashiers and 2 people serving the food, I don't know how many people were preparing the food but For a restaurant that is so busy I was disappointed. Very disappointed. My friend was to get to the airport at 1 30 thereabout and at 1 10 we had about 100 people in front no joke, I counted. (So expect to have a wait time of about 3 hours if you're going to dine in also) sadly We had to leave, we did enjoy the smell of the food but I can't talk about its taste. So all in all, very long wait time, not a lot of workers for such a busy place. Be there maybe an hour before opening (They open at 11) Don't go alone, or make sure you have company on the phone or something lol I hope to be back one day when we have nothing planned for the day and then I'll update about the food. read more

This is the only Michelin star BBQ restaurant in Houston and I understand why!! I'm still thinking about these BBQ!! I wish I can bring them all back home! This is a review only for briskets. Got there 30 mins before the opening hour on a Saturday and line was already long. Thankfully, they have the umbrellas and seatings set up. They even had people coming around and taking our drink orders while we waited. Huge plus! They have seatings inside and outside. Thankfully, we were able to sit inside. they had fans outside seatings though. I don't think anyone had trouble finding seats. It took 1.5 hrs to get our food. It was 100% worth it. They give you different options of how fatty you want your brisket. Anytime they do this at any BBQ restaurant, you know it's gonna be good!!! I've got the fatty one they've got and wish I've got more!! They also only have 1 kind of BBQ sauce and that was enough. I didn't really need the sauce though. The meat itself was amazing. I also got their peach cobbler and it was warm and also delicious. Only complaint is the long wait but it was well worth it. read more

It was alright, but definitely not the best BBQ in Houston or Texas. Not worth the long wait or long drive. There is also overhype behind the Michelin star designation. I had been looking forward to this place for a while because of its Michelin star designation and raving reviews. I had been to several Michelin starred BBQ spots in Austin that had clearly won for their high quality meats and innovative spin on sides, so my expectations were high. We got there at around 1:40pm due to traffic and waited in line a little under an hour. The line is partially shaded. We ordered turkey breast, brisket, mac and cheese, and baked beans. I was surprised to find that this was a very standard BBQ joint, given the factors that go into Michelin star consideration. Yet, none of the sides nor meat options were special/ innovative/ out of the ordinary. The turkey was very dry, and mac and cheese tasted like it was straight from the box. Brisket and baked beans were standard. I was expecting the brisket to wow me, but it did not. Pinkerton's, on a good day, has the most moist, tender, and flavorful brisket, which was the standard I was comparing it to. However, it did not come close. It was a step below, and I would say other spots like Truth & Pit Room are just as good, if not better. The fact that Corkscrew is worse than other comparable BBQ spots, and those spots received a lower designation feels unfair and does not align with supposed Michelin standards. I want to note that this spot is also only open half day (until 4pm) yet has worse quality control than spots open later/ working longer hours. This leaves no excuse for fluctuating quality as a defense for my poor experience. Prices are standard for BBQ. Parking was a little difficult. The lot they had was small and full, and other parking around is reserved for different businesses. While the BBQ spot was disappointing, the town around it was a nice surprise. We walked around and went to the local shops to get dessert. Overall, I'd give the spot a 5/10. I would not make the drive again or recommend the spot. I'd be weary of Michelin recommendations after trying this spot. read more
