Three item combo (brisket, pork rib, pork sausage), beef rib
    Aye K.

Delicious barbecue! We went on a weekday for lunch and there was a short line, but it moved quickly and was not too bad. Between two people, we shared: - Three meat "dinner": We chose the brisket, pork ribs, and pork sausage. All three were excellent, but the brisket was my favorite. It was very tender without being overly fatty. The plate also came with two sides. We picked the coleslaw and mac and cheese. Both were good, but I wish I had gotten the green beans after seeing them at other tables! - Beef rib: You have to order at least one pound since the ribs are quite large. This was also delicious and definitely worth trying. Overall, a fantastic barbecue spot. I would happily come back for the brisket, beef rib, and to try some of the other items. If possible, go early or on a weekday to avoid the longer lines!

Wanted Texan bbq one more time before flying back home and heard this place was good. Walked in and their was a long line that never actually went down the whole time we were there. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Also a full bar outside. I picked the 2 near combo and chose brisket, pork ribs with macaroni and cheese and green beans. They also ask if you want a piece of white bread. Then there is a little bar that you could grab some different type of veggies stuff and few other sauces which I grabbed pickled onions. Everything was cooked good! The macaroni was a bit too watery for my liking but still good. Enjoyed the food overall.

We ordered brisket & beef ribs and definitely the ribs were the best in town.

We ordered briskets and beef ribs. The beef ribs were definitely the best in town. Just make sure to make it in time before they sell out the beef ribs.

WOW WOW WOWW the food here was so delicious. I was in town visiting a friend and this is where they recommended. We did take-out so I can't speak to the experience of eating in house, but it looked there were several seating options both indoor and outside. My wife and I shared a 3 meat dinner which comes with 2 sides. We ordered brisket, pork ribs, and turkey with potato salad and charred green beans. We also ordered an additional jalapeno cheddar sausage. Everything was so so delicious. Everything was very fresh and still hot when we got home after about a 15 minute drive. We tried the house sauce and the house mustard, both of which were delicious. The staff were kind and worked quickly. There was a line when we arrived but it moved quickly as well and luckily they had a tent outside to provide some shade in the heat for this midwest girlie who is not used to that heat in May!!! Overall would totally come back here and recommend to anyone in the area looking for good BBQ. We chose this over long long lines at Truth and honestly, I think it was the better option to make.

Super friendly staff. They make you feel very welcomed and seem to love their jobs. I appreciate this because it makes one feel at home. There's plenty of seating inside, out on the patio and the bar next door. The food is excellent and they serve my favorite, beef rib. Not all Texas BBQ places offer beef rib so this was a nice treat! We ordered beef rib, pork rib, beef brisket and pull pork. The beef rib and brisket were the favorites. Juicy and falling off the bone. Sides we had were Mac & Cheese (a definite favorite), beans, and elote. Definitely a great place when looking for Texas BBQ in Houston.

Two meat meal with Mac and cheese and charro beans

First time trying the pit room. We were four and we each tried something different. We tried the brisket, sausage and ribs. For sides we tried the Mac and cheese, elote, potato salad and charro beans. We liked it so much that we ordered a catering package for my son's grad party. It was reasonably priced and came with everything you needed, meats, sides, condiments, bread and utensils, def worth it. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Indoor dining area is small, but they have a big outside sitting area if you don't mind the heat.

My uber driver told me I chose well for my Houston bbq experience when I was heading to the restaurant, and I did indeed have a delicious meal. Got the one meat lunch platter which came with two sides. I chose the brisket, mac n cheese, and cole slaw. The meat was so tender and juicy, and the bbq sauce was one of the best I've had. The sides were just ok, and I wouldn't recommend the mac n cheese (too meh). I liked the pickle station they had. Counter service with tables both inside and outside. All the employees were quick but friendly.

Hey y'all, I was so excited to try this barbecue place because I've been in Houston for three years and I have yet to eat barbecue. Coming from Chicago I just knew it was gonna be a tough call. Y'all know I give 100% true reviews. The food was definitely a 4 out of 10. The sausage was not good at all. The brisket was tasty. It just wasn't as tender. The rib was probably the best thing it didn't have too much flavor, but it was yummy. The macaroni was definitely a three out of 10 and the beans were also about a five out of 10. There really was no flavor to the meats. I'm a heavy cooker and I also love to barbecue, but I barely could taste the smoky flavor. We ended up not eating everything because it honestly wasn't that great however, my favorite thing was probably the rib in the brisket. I really was expecting this to be really good, but after conversing w/ a couple of other people, I heard that this is more like a Houstonian place. The service was great in the ambience was also great. They have a bar next-door that you can sit down grab your drink and go back and sit. Overall, I had fun in the experience, but I definitely are gonna have to give this a two out of five. Oh, and the barbecue sauce I'm gonna have to say no

Really good bbq- brisket was made very well. Place was small, but food was pretty fantastic. I liked the elote choice. Self service for food and drinks , clean up was fast by staff to make room

For the amount of food that you get and the wait of the line, this place is well worth it. For 1 pound of meat with the dinner platter, and multiple sides, it only came out around $27. This is such a steal in comparison to some of the other big barbecue names in the area. The line itself also only took maybe an hour to get through. And again, at peak times, in comparison a lot of similar areas probably take more than two. Overall, though I think that the brisket wasn't as well made has some of the other barbecue places, but the sides were delicious. I had the mac & cheese and the green beans, and they were super flavorful and a good balance to the rest of the meal. For my meats, I got the brisket and the short rib. They were pretty standard. I think they would impress a non-Texan, but for me, knowing how brisket can taste, it wasn't as flavorful or tender. The structure of the restaurant is very do it yourself as well. Each meal also comes with a slice of bread, and there's an area in the middle of the restaurant where you can self serve sides. They have various pickled vegetables. Service was fast for the most part, when you got to the front of the line. The style is you tell the butcher how much you want, he weighs it and passes you down the line to get your sides. Inside only had around 20 people worth of seating. But the outside had a bunch of tables, which are open if it's not too cold to sit. I also know on certain days this restaurant also host trivia and opens its outdoor seating. Parking may be tight as the lot only has around 10 spaces. Street parking may be necessary in the nearby neighborhood.

Always on the quest to find good go to BBQ joints in Houston and I found The Pit BBQ on Richmond to add to my list. Upon arriving, the line was wrapped around the building which is a good indicator of something must be good inside to draw them in and I found out what it was. First, the service was first class. all the attendants were busy helping customers and helping with setup for new customers. Secondly, the brisket and turkey were the stars for me. The fat on the brisket was good to perfection and the smoked turkey was not only seasoned well, but it was extremely juicy and tender. Currently in my top 3.

Breakfast tacos were soooo good. We tried the chorizo, jalapeno cheddar sausage, potato, and brisket tacos - omg they were all soooo good! Order ahead, bring to enjoy at a nearby coffee shop, and be happy eating some real good breakfast tacos.

Two meat dinner with pulled pork, brisket, Mac and cheese, Cole slaw, banana pudding, and Shinerbock beer.
    Rafael P.

I decided to try this interesting Texas BBQ joint while traveling on business. Despite a short wait in line, I enjoyed the two meat dinner consisting of brisket and pulled pork, with sides of Mac and cheese and Cole slaw. I added a delicious banana pudding desert and a nice, cold Shinerbock. Very ample outside seating and nicely decorated and pleasant ambiance. The service was excellent and I recommend this great BBQ restaurant if you're in the Houston area.

Ask the Community - The Pit Room - Museum District

Is this place good for a group of 16?

There aren't really many tables that will accommodate a group that large, but if you are there on an off time, you can probably make it work if you sit outdoors and get a group of tables near each other.

    Do they take apple pay?

    Not that I know

Is there any option for halal/kosher meat?

Try Chuck Wagon in Fulshear for halal beef options. I believe Killen's beef in Pearland is sourced from a farm with halal beef.

Am I able to order the dinners during lunch time? If not, what time am I able to order?

    Yes

What days do they sell Okra? (Is it discontinued?)

Every time I have went it was there.

I'm planning to order take out to bring it back to NYC. I'm planning to use a conventional oven to heat the food. Does anyone know how long and what temperature I should get it at? Will order beef ribs, pork ribs, briskets and pulled pork.

You can ask them to not preslice the brisket and you can do it yourself after you warm it up because at home to preserve some of the juices.… Read more

Are they open on thanksgiving day?

Probably not. Best is to call and ask their holiday schedule for certainty.

Which days do they serve the Wagyu Brisket?

    Daily

Can anyone get the seafood on the weekends or is it only special order?

As long as you have the cash they have the crawfish.

Best time to go on a Sunday?

11am-12pm is the best time to beat the crowd. 12pm-3pm is cool if you don't mind waiting in line.

Anyone know if they are open this Wednesday (day after Christmas)?

Wanna try this restaurant so badly, and I have a flexible schedule, so I want to come when I can get the least wait time... when is my best bet? Thank you!:)

I have gone around 6pm on a Wednesday and didn't have a wait. Also right when they open at 11am is good. The line moves pretty fast even if there is a wait, and you may sit at the bar next door if the seating gets crowded.

Would like to bring an out of town guest here for them to get some Texas bbq, however I'm vegetarian... are the sides vegetarian friendly? The potatoes, Mac and cheese, etc?

Yes, you should have a few options. I highly recommend the corn (served with Mexican cream, queso fresco, and hot sauce), and the mac and cheese.

Do you offer military discount like Rudy's?

Yes, we do! Just show your military i.d. and the we provide your discount . Thank you for your service !

If we wanna reserve in advance for a table for 6? How is the wait during the weekend?

The lines were long but they moved quickly. Plenty of room outside on patio. Inside is a little tight. We had a party of 6 walked in on Saturday and found a table on patio

We went on a Saturday for lunch. Hopefully this was just a one-off, but if you're looking for good Cajun boiled crawfish, this is not it. We started off with 6 lbs (group of 4) of their regular crawfish. First off, they put the Cajun seasoning on outside/shell (!!), which is a cardinal sin for Cajuns. They also minimally seasoned the boil, so the meat was lacking salt and flavor. We ordered 3 more lbs with the "wet sauce" (garlic butter), thinking the lack of flavor may be attributed to this being the first-ish batch of the day. Nope, the second batch was even less seasoned than the first. The sauce was good, but it didn't make up for the unseasoned meat. The crawfish were a good size, at least... Come on guys, I expect more from a Gulf Coast seafood restaurant!

It was a beautiful sunny day outside and it reflected all throughout the large windows of the restaurant. A+ for the ambiance. We started off with mimosa carafes for the table, great blend of juice and champagne. No complaints at all about the mimosas. He started us with a round of biscuits, with butter & jelly on the side. Would give it overall rating of 8.5/10, I actually liked them they weren't too sweetened like other biscuits. For food, I ordered the Buttermilk Waffles, turkey links, and side of Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese. The food was good, above average in my opinion. The buttermilk waffles weren't overly crisp but still had nice warm flavor (8.7/10), turkey links were satisfactory (8.1/10), and the mac & cheese was above average as well, not out of this world but pretty good nonetheless (8.0/10). Feels good when an establishment takes pride in their customer's feedback and puts a plan into action. Honestly, part of me was hoping that last time was just a fluke or an off day. This time around, everything from the service to the food was great. We had a 12:30 Sunday reservation for two and opted to sit inside this time. We ordered the cast-iron cornbread, chargrilled oysters, and a cup of gumbo each to start. For entrées, I had the Gulf Fish, while my husband went with the crawfish Florentine. Everything came out beautifully timed, almost like a perfectly paced three-course meal, which obviously made the whole experience feel elevated and relaxed. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, and on top of everything without being overbearing. I also tried the prickly pear aid (non-alcoholic), and it was super refreshing, definitely worth ordering if you like a little tartness to cleanse your palate. Overall, this visit felt like a completely different experience than last time. It delivered the elevated experience a place like Eunice promises and what I was used to originally. Looking forward to celebrating my birthday here in June!

Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was disappointing due to both the service and the food quality. Our server was very slow throughout the evening. After ordering cocktails, it took approximately 20 minutes for them to arrive. We then ordered our meals... I had the burger and fries, while my girlfriend ordered the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were noticeably over salted. After finishing our meals, we waited an additional 15-20 minutes just to receive a dessert menu. Eventually, we decided not to wait any longer and went to Dessert Gallery down the street instead. While the atmosphere and appearance of the restaurant were excellent, the slow service and food issues negatively impacted the experience. Based on this visit, I would likely not return.
