Came here with a group of friends and decided to share the platter meal. The service was exceptionally quick, as the way to order food was a counter setup. The meats were packed with flavor, and anything with a bone was incredibly tender, practically falling off the bone. Some of the meats had a smoky flavor that added an extra dimension to the taste. The sides were equally delicious, particularly the mac and cheese. However, there were a few areas where the experience could have been improved. The tables could have been a bit larger to accommodate our group comfortably. Delicious barbecue! We went on a weekday for lunch and there was a short line, but it moved quickly and was not too bad. Between two people, we shared: - Three meat "dinner": We chose the brisket, pork ribs, and pork sausage. All three were excellent, but the brisket was my favorite. It was very tender without being overly fatty. The plate also came with two sides. We picked the coleslaw and mac and cheese. Both were good, but I wish I had gotten the green beans after seeing them at other tables! - Beef rib: You have to order at least one pound since the ribs are quite large. WOW WOW WOWW the food here was so delicious. I was in town visiting a friend and this is where they recommended. We did take-out so I can't speak to the experience of eating in house, but it looked there were several seating options both indoor and outside. My wife and I shared a 3 meat dinner which comes with 2 sides. We ordered brisket, pork ribs, and turkey with potato salad and charred green beans. We also ordered an additional jalapeno cheddar sausage. Everything was so so delicious. Everything was very fresh and still hot when we got home after about a 15 minute drive. We tried the house sauce and the house mustard, both of which were delicious. The staff were kind and worked quickly. There was a line when we arrived but it moved quickly as well and luckily they had a tent outside to provide some shade in the heat for this midwest girlie who is not used to that heat in May!!! BANGING BRISKET!!!! Friends hosted a rehearsal dinner here and OH MY. This is legit the best brisket I've ever put in my mouth! My uber driver told me I chose well for my Houston bbq experience when I was heading to the restaurant, and I did indeed have a delicious meal. Got the one meat lunch platter which came with two sides. I chose the brisket, mac n cheese, and cole slaw. The meat was so tender and juicy, and the bbq sauce was one of the best I've had. Hey y'all, I was so excited to try this barbecue place because I've been in Houston for three years and I have yet to eat barbecue. Coming from Chicago I just knew it was gonna be a tough call. Y'all know I give 100% true reviews. The food was definitely a 4 out of 10. The sausage was not good at all. The brisket was tasty. It just wasn't as tender. The rib was probably the best thing it didn't have too much flavor, but it was yummy. The macaroni was definitely a three out of 10 and the beans were also about a five out of 10. There really was no flavor to the meats. I'm a heavy cooker and I also love to barbecue, but I barely could taste the smoky flavor. We ended up not eating everything because it honestly wasn't that great however, my favorite thing was probably the rib in the brisket. I really was expecting this to be really good, but after conversing w/ a couple of other people, I heard that this is more like a Houstonian place. The service was great in the ambience was also great. They have a bar next-door that you can sit down grab your drink and go back and sit. For the amount of food that you get and the wait of the line, this place is well worth it. For 1 pound of meat with the dinner platter, and multiple sides, it only came out around $27. This is such a steal in comparison to some of the other big barbecue names in the area. The line itself also only took maybe an hour to get through. And again, at peak times, in comparison a lot of similar areas probably take more than two. Overall, though I think that the brisket wasn't as well made has some of the other barbecue places, but the sides were delicious. I had the mac & cheese and the green beans, and they were super flavorful and a good balance to the rest of the meal. For my meats, I got the brisket and the short rib. They were pretty standard. I think they would impress a non-Texan, but for me, knowing how brisket can taste, it wasn't as flavorful or tender. The structure of the restaurant is very do it yourself as well. Each meal also comes with a slice of bread, and there's an area in the middle of the restaurant where you can self serve sides. They have various pickled vegetables. Service was fast for the most part, when you got to the front of the line. The style is you tell the butcher how much you want, he weighs it and passes you down the line to get your sides. Inside only had around 20 people worth of seating. But the outside had a bunch of tables, which are open if it's not too cold to sit. I also know on certain days this restaurant also host trivia and opens its outdoor seating. Parking may be tight as the lot only has around 10 spaces. My wife, daughter, son-in-law, and I were staying near the Rice campus on a Saturday in early May, waiting for graduation ceremonies later that day. Stopped by around 11 am, and there was still parking in the dedicated surface lot next to the building. The smell of bbq wasn't as prevalent as last time. Once walking in, you stand in line to first order your meat...which is immediately sliced in front of you. You then move further along to ask for your sides, including as many slices of plain white bread as you want. My daughter treated us this time, so didn't record prices, but thought it was reasonable. I liked the sliced brisket a lot, along with the side of elote corn and mac n cheese. The free toppings bar had the various pickled vegetables that really cut through the fattiness of the meat. Drinks were all self serve, with a water station and soda fountain. Probably ordered a bit less than expected for 4 people, but was happy that there were no left overs, and left not completely stuffed, since we had a long day ahead of us. Upon arriving, the line was wrapped around the building which is a good indicator of something must be good inside to draw them in and I found out what it was. I came from out of town with a list of places to eat all the way from Houston to Galveston, and this was an "afterthought" quick breakfast spot before I headed to Houston Space Center. This was the best meal I had my entire weekend! The place had ample parking. There was a solid staff cleaning, and the place was spotless. The front desk staff was helpful and patient with newbies, recommending menu items and accompaniments from the bar nearby. I had the chorizo breakfast taco and the pulled pork hash taco - I was delighted to find out that "hash" meant a delicious hash brown inside the taco. The egg was creamy and perfect inside a taco, the cheese was good, the meat was amazing. I don't think it's possible for me to be happier with roughly $9 in breakfast food. The pork ribs were perfect as the meat fell off the bone easily. It was also a tad saltier than what I was used to. The briskets were good but I felt like the meat wasn't as juicy without the fat. There were sauces you can use with the meat and I admit the bourbon coffee BBQ was my least favorite because it was too strong and sort of ruined the BBQ flavor. The chicken taco was also good but not the best. I wish they added some texture or something in it aside from just chicken and cheese. The coleslaw was delicious. It was fresh and wasn't too overwhelming with the mayo. The elote was honestly my favorite. It had the right amount of sauce, cheese, and crunchiness. We read the reviews and figured we should try what looked like the best BBQ in town, only to have the worst experience of our trip. There's a sign that directs patrons to park in the lot across the street--which is where many, if not most, park. When we came out we discovered our vehicle along with several other customer's vehicles had been broken into and valuables stolen. We went back to tell the restaurant and a couple workers came over to check on their own cars. A worker said this happens daily so I frustratingly asked him "Why do you direct people to park here?" I know this is a question for the management instead: Why do you tell your customers to park in the lot across the street with your sign when break-ins happen regularly there? Good amount of seating, but some is right under the sun making it a rough visit on a warm day. I'm also a little short for the high top seats and can never find a comfortable spot, so I mostly stood while eating. The beef brisket was okay with a lot of very dried burnt ends, sliced turkey was dried and the pork rib did not fall off the bone! There was too much chewing not enough enjoying. Determined to not leave Texas without a good bbq meal, a group of us ended up picking up a large order on a whim for an airport gate "picnic". We called in our order 30 minutes prior to arrival a which ended up being a great idea since this place was pretty crowded with what I assume is the lunch rush. We ordered 3 lbs of brisket (2lb flat, 1 lb point), 2 beef ribs, all 3 sausages (beef, venison, jalapeño/cheese), elote and Mac and cheese. We had forgotten about the TSA liquid policy so unfortunately, the absolute jug (quart) of bbq sauce they generously included ended up being confiscated in security. The brisket was extremely tender and more than passed the pull/gravity test. But the absolute winner (best bite in bbq in my opinion) was the beef rib. The bark was extremely flavorful and the meat succulent/rich. The Mac and cheese perfectly balanced the scale with its heavy carb and cheese content. I was hoping for better on the sausages, but they weren't all that much to write home about unfortunately. Neither great nor horrible. I live in New Orleans and was told that the next time I go to Houston, I have to stop at The Pit Room. I was also told to expect a long line, so imagine my excitement when the long line was still inside the building and not down the sidewalk. The menu offers great options for the true BBQ lover. Although they were out of the Wagyu Rib, the regular beef rib I had was absolutely delicious. I was too full to finish my green beans, but I finished my meal with a refreshing bottled root beer.
