This restaurant was incredible. Visiting from Wilmington and this was recommended by some of the locals. We ordered the mozzarella sticks and the Philly cheesesteak. The mozzarella sticks are 100% worth the hype. They are truly as delicious as everyone says. The cheesesteak was also amazing! I added jalapeños to mine, highly recommend. Aside from the food, the people here are so welcoming. Tim (the owner) was kind enough to share his story with us and made us feel right at home. Our server Katlin went above and beyond for us! She also shared some of the stories from Hurricane Helene, along with pictures and timestamps of the wreckage. It is heartbreaking, yet so inspiring to see how this community came together to rebuild. You can feel the love that was poured into it. We cannot wait to come back and visit everyone. My husband and I were on a 3 week road trip and stayed at this awesome air b&b in Marshall, NC and thought we would check out Hot Springs. After going to another establishment in Hot Springs that was very unfriendly, we ended up at Spring Creek Tavern. We were only going for a drink and an appetizer and I have to say, I've had many mozzarella sticks in my time but these were the ultimate cheesesticks... so crispy and gooey (but not too gooey) with a type of meat in it as well which I think may be salami but really not sure except that whatever it is, it is delicious. And our waitress was friendly and welcoming, sharing with us photos of the flood when we showed our interest. Food was not great. Had onion skins in the cheese steak and the portion was a six inch sub roll for 15.99. with no sides. The server was extremely rude during our dining experience. I spoke with some locals that I have known for 25+ years and they said they had stopped patronizing this place for similar reasons. This is only the second time I have ever taken to yelp but here we are. I love the town and the people and at this time of year there are AT hikers and outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. I would suggest to anyone visiting hot springs to avoid this place It has a great location but not worth the bad treatment from the wait staff person we had. The funny part was that the folks I took there own several fine restaurants in the Big Easy They were ready to walk out after the first visit from the waitress. A great spot overlooking Spring Creek, Spring Creek Tavern feels like it's been around for over a century. Possibly it has. There's usually a wait to get in and be seated so bring a little patience, it's worth it. A terrific beer list compliments the tavern food. We enjoyed the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and Fish Tacos, but the fries were the star of the show! A huge, generous serving was way more than two people could devour. My wife and I ate here for the first time for lunch. It was a nice day so we dined outside. There's a small stream that runs along side the restaurant and the deck which made the dining very pleasant. So our waiter was just ok. He was very pleasant but not very efficient. I did notice that the other waitstaff (all female) were exceptional and very attentive to their tables. The menu had a good selection with a variety of appetizers, salads, wraps, sandwiches, pizza and more. I was happy with the selection and prices were very reasonable. Lots of craft beer to choose from as well. We both ordered the chicken tenders and WOW, they were huge! Very delicious and a value for sure. Our sides were tasty as well except the cole slaw was bland. Be advised that there is smoking outside where we ate and unfortunately, we were next to and down wind of a chain smoker. This place is fantastic! They have been closed for over a year because of damage from Helene. They opened back up a few weeks ago and did an amazing job rebuilding the space. The food was awesome! We got the Homemade Cheese Sticks (don't miss this), a burger, wings, and a chicken sandwich and everything was on point! The service was excellent and the passion of the employees and the owners was obvious in every detail of our dining experience. There's public parking within a 5 min walk and really pretty patio seating. If you're planning on getting on of their world famous appetizer it can be a little pricey. Hot Springs is tiny. There are very few food options. And they aren't all open every day of the week. Spring Creek Tavern is, importantly, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. But, also importantly (especially in Covid-times), they have outdoor seating available. So during my week staying in Hot Springs, I knew I would eat here at least once. I just had to wait until mid-week to do it. I only had a short wait, and spent it sitting near the creek on the other side of the road. There is no cell service in town, so when you are called for your seat being ready...your name is shouted from the entrance by someone loud enough to be heard at all ends of the two-block main drive in town. They have a surprisingly varied and interesting beer list. Kudos on that! And the staff I interacted with were great. A good suggestion from the server had me ordering their cheese sticks. Provolone cheese, hand-rolled in salami, then wrapped in wonton/egg roll wrappers and deep fried. Stoopid delicious. The order is large and I am but one person, so I ate half and took half as leftovers....and y'all they were just as tasty a few hours later, not even reheated! What I really came for, though, was a burger after my hike nearby. And the burger was alright. Nothing spectacular, but it hit the spot for sure. I came back another day and got fries and a wrap. The wrap was not awesome, but I wanted something that seemed a little healthier that a burger. And the fries were indeed delicious. The fries as a side are a la carte, ordered separate from the main dishes. And the serving size is GENEROUS. Enough for probably 3-4 people to share. Or...enough for me to supplement my lunch and have leftovers at my Airbnb later that night. It is probably the most popular of the 4 restaurants in town (primarily thanks to its accessible menu, operating hours, and outdoor seating) so, especially during pandemic times, expect a wait. After soaking in the hot springs tub, we were hungry. We decided to try out Spring Creek Tavern. This place has a great laid back vibe. We sat outside on the deck by the river. Ellin was super welcoming and a wonderful server. Of course we tried the world famous cheese sticks. Which were pretty amazing. I also tried a couple a of dark "baby beers" (my name for them ... they called them samples). We settled on wings & tots and a pizza, classic tavern food. Traveling thru the western NC mountains and needing a lunch break, we stopped in Hot Springs for a bite. Spring Creek Tavern always seemed to be a popular spot in town on our trips back and forth from Tennessee but we had always been in a hurry. Sure glad we made time ! From the friendly greeting and excellence service, to our meal, an outstanding experience. On the recommendation of our waitress, we ordered the hand rolled cheese sticks, which are the size and shape of large egg rolls with the addition of salami inside. Amazing ! We chose to split a Buffalo chicken sandwich which blew us away with its sheer enormity and crispy outside and moist, tender inside. The portions here are huge ! Nifty little tavern - actually on Spring Creek, which adds great ambience to a meal or a happy hour toast, especially if sitting on the outdoor covered porch and enjoying the water rippling nearby. The staff is friendly, and attentive, and helpful. And a super shout out to Dan, for making helping us navigate a crowded evening, and ensure a safe and accessible experience despite my bulky wheelchair. We enjoyed a bottle of wine at the bar by the creek, then moved to a table under a fan for dinner. The Cajun Philly cheesesteak (meaty and well-flavored) was amazing, and the fried catfish tacos were (honestly) the BEST fish tacos I have ever had in my life (what IS that incredible sauce drizzled over the very very crispy fish and generous serving of slaw?), and I have them nearly weekly. The Buffalo dip(served with warm pita) was also absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed the handmade cheese sticks (comes with a salsa sauce, but they are even better dipped in the Buffalo dip!). Four of us had lunch there on Friday. We ordered simple lunches, including a burger and fish tacos and tots. After an hour wait , no food appeared. We asked our server where our lunches were and her reply was "we're backed up, and you are not anywhere close to the front. " Finally , three meals came out, and we received fries instead of tots. We asked to see a manager about the missing meal, a simple burger. The manager told us it was late "because something went wrong with it." My burger finally showed up fifteen minutes later. We did receive a $2.50 discount As we left, someone asked us how it was. We all said horrible and slow. Unbelievably good. Group of six guys and everything we ordered was superbe. The chicken "tenders" (they are basically three full breasts) were perfectly battered, crisp, and juicy. They left every other "tender" on the planet lacking. The only thing better than the food was the service. Our waitress, Summer, never let our drinks empty, gave only the best suggestions, and went above and beyond to give us an exceptional experience. I was having some FOMO that we didn't make a stop to an Asheville brewery, but they carry a variety of NC local brews including many draft beers from Asheville. We grabbed some cold brews and feasted here after our four mile hike. - Hand made cheese sticks: I can never look at cheese sticks again the same way. Kudos to whoever decided to put salami in these delicious fried provolone cheese sticks! So delicious especially w the marinara sauce! - Philly melt: A savory delicious philly...on a Texas toast which makes everything better. - Vegan Wrap: Not much flavor except the taste of raw onions and pickles, but I did like the consistency of the black beans. Of the handful of times I've stopped in Hot Springs I cant believe this was my first time. To be honest I was with my folks during Christmas break and they weren't too keen on lunch at a bar scene. But after they scarfed down the delicious food and were able to enjoy a quite meal (their style), I'm fairly certain we will be back. The menu consists of typical bar style meals. Though everything we ordered tasted better than most bars food I've had. You'll find options such as hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, pizzas, fried pickles, chili, and mozzarella sticks (which I've heard are a must have --next time!). I ordered the Kickin' Chick'N Sandwich with their delicious bbq sauce in the side. The sauce is tasty and the chicken was SO good. Both my folks chose the chicken fried chicken sandwich. It came out piping hot and they definitely enjoyed it. We couldn't decide on the french fries or tater tots so we ordered both as a side. Both come with a generous amount to share with a few people. I have to say the tater tots won! The tots were perfectly made... Crispy on the outside and potatoey on the inside. I dipped mine in the barbecue sauce. mmM! If you're looking for a vegan option, the menu was limited to salad and the Vegan Hash Wrap. The wrap contains: Black Beans whole and pureed with zucchini, carrots and corn and wrapped with lettuce tomato, onion and pickle. Sounds quite tasty. There is a great beer selection here as well. There's domestic cans and bottles as well as local breweries on draft. I wanted to try a local light draft beer so our waitress suggested the Wicked Weed Appalachia Session IPA. Perfect choice! Food came out as fast as possible for a large table of 13, but the stars go against the food. Everyone tried something different, but with the same answer... "nothing special". The waitress was not very accommodating - we waited a while to be acknowledged to to get a menu , and had to ask for silverware when our food was delivered. The philly sandwich was good. We told her we wanted to split it - she served as one sandwich, not cut in half, and without another plate. The reason for the 2** were the fries were truly awful - soaking in oil and limp (must have been cooked in oil that was too cold, then barely drained). They wouldn't allow my registered service animal on the outside patio. I was treated terribly. I have to have my PTSD dog w/ me for my C-PTSD and seizures. There's a difference between a emotional support animal and a working PTSD animal. My little dog senses when I'm about to have an episode. She was in her stroller for going in restaurants. She's so smart and she was made to feel like she was filthy and she did something wrong. They were cold and mean. I've contacted the ADA about this matter. read more

We stoped for lunch and we were not disappointed. All food is made to order and the menu states that so be prepared to be patient . We ordered the hand breaded chicken tenders ( 5 to an order) served with a side of teriyaki BBQ sauce which was delicious along with an order of hand cut fries. Without a doubt the worst service I've ever experienced in a restaurant. We waited over an hour for a burger and fish tacos. Numerous other tables came, ate and went long before our food came. When we asked the waitress about the delay she got quite irritated and said, Well, I'll just get the manager. Manager was extremely apologetic at first but by the time we left she was literally chasing us down the street screaming and yelling at us. I've never in my 70 years on the planet been treated like that. There was a tiny $2.50 adjustment to our bill, which was pretty much an insult. When our food did come, mine came out with our friends, but my wife's burger didn't come for another 10-15 minutes. When we queried about the problem we were told there had been something wrong with the sandwich and they were making a new one. OK, but 10-15 minutes to make a burger??? I think the place is the most disorganized wait staff and kitchen you could find. I will never go back here after this experience. After our exciting rafting trip my family and I walk over to Spring Creek Tavern for lunch. We arrived around 1:30 on a Sunday and found that most tables were occupied. Fortunately a high top table for four was just leaving as we arrived. We grabbed this table inside near the bar and kitchen. There is also a large outdoor dining area. My wife and I split the Kick'N Chick'N Sandwich with blackened chicken, sautéed onions and mushrooms with a sweet Carolina BBQ sauce ($9.49). All sandwiches and burgers are served on garlic toasted Texas toast with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and your choice of fries, chili, salad or slaw. This was a really good sandwich and I especially liked the waffle fries. There is no kids menu, which was a little disappointing. We ended up with a classic burger with cheddar for our six-year-old son ($8.49). He really enjoyed having the burger on grilled bread rather than the traditional bun. This was a lot of food for him though. Our four-year-old daughter wanted pizza. Again there is no kid size so we ended up with a full cheese pizza ($10.99). This is why my wife and I split a sandwich. We knew there would be plenty of pizza leftover for us to enjoy. The pizza features handmade thin crust and a delicious red sauce. There aren't a whole lot of options in Hot Springs. While the Spring Creek Tavern was not very kid friendly, we made it work for a weekend lunch. read more
