As one of the local craft breweries in Weaverville, we go here occasionally for beers. It's a nice little neighborhood place a block off of Main St on Florida Ave. The beers are always good (today's Marzen and Schwartzbier being no exception). We've eaten here a couple times before, but since it looked like they expanded their menu since we were last here, we decided to get food again this time. The chicken Philly was good but nothing to rave about. The fries at least were very good. The Cuban sandwich was notable mostly for the bread, which was grilled nicely like an Italian panini. But it was basically a pulled pork sandwich: the pork wasn't spiced as you would expect and it lacked the distinctive mustard and pickles of a true Cuban sandwich (it had both, but very limited amounts and the taste just didn't come through). They were featuring warm German potato salad as a side (I guess for early Oktoberfest), so we ordered that as the side for the Cuban. It was noted that it could be ordered with any sandwich as the side. Instead though, we noticed after we left that we were charged separately for it [we weren't served any other side with the Cuban, so it wasn't an addition]. We would have been glad to pay an upcharge if that was the deal in this case, but it was listed as just being a side like any other, only for a limited time. It was at least tasty. I hate to be too hard on restaurants, especially small businesses. I come from a restaurant family. And I get that mistakes do happen. But having been here several times, I always feel this place doesn't try as hard as it could or should. It's always a little underwhelming on service (although the food seemed freshly made and was hot when it arrived) and cleanliness (we noticed the 96.5 rating). I'd really like to see this place take things up a notch. There are so many really good places to get craft beer and eat in the Asheville area, if this wasn't one of the few places in Weaverville, it would be down pretty far on our list of go-to places. If you're visiting or living in the Asheville area and looking for some different breweries to check out apart from the core located in downtown, take a 10-to-15 minute ride north on I-26 to Weaverville where you will discover Eluvium Brewing Company. Located down the block from Zebulon behind the main street that comprises the center of town, Eluvium offers patrons and beer connoisseurs some consistently reliable craft beers. My fiance and I were looking to see more of what the area, outside of Asheville, for craft breweries had to offer. We were pleased with our experience at Eluvium. They have a nice outdoor patio area with a sizeable taproom inside to enjoy their latest creations as well as year-long mainstays. I ordered a flight that included the Lemon Blueberry Berliner, the Steam Shovel California Common, American Bitter, and the Nacho Mama's Stout. Out of the four, I enjoyed the Berliner the most but also enjoyed the Nacho Mama's Stout. The latter was an exquisite Mexican hot chocolate stout that I bought a growler to take back with me to Florida. My fiance enjoyed the Ginger's Revenge that was on tap since she is gluten-free. I took a sip and enjoyed it as well. The stop at the brewery was a good one between the beer and the chill vibes. The beertenders were very down-to-earth and made the stay welcome, while we enjoyed the beers and looked at the local artwork that hung on the walls. I would come back to enjoy some more beers the next time I'm up in the area. read more

Really impressed. I've been trying to get to Weaverville for awhile to check these guys out. Actually went twice this trip - once on a Friday night and then the next day, on a Saturday afternoon. The space is on the small side but somehow it feels just right - nice intimate space. Maybe just 4-5 indoor table tops but tons of outdoor seating too. I imagine this place gets pretty busy during the summer! Friday Night: Pennsylvania Porter, Blackberry Lemon Sour, Big Tips (Spruce IPA) - the sour was my favorite followed by the Porter - the IPA was a little too high in IBUS for my tastes (plus I love Pine Zips - Fonta Flora shout out). Saturday: Cookie Cutter Stout, Dry Irish Stout, more of that Blackberry Lemon Sour. Wow! The Cookie Cutter Stout was just fantastic - such a smooth and well rounded stout, especially for clocking in at almost 7% ABV. The Dry Irish was also very good - but the Cookie Cutter was just plain better. Now a special and well deserved shout out for Danielle - bartender extraordinaire! She really made our Saturday visit fun. Lots of interaction and recommendations - even brought our second round to the table. Give her a raise! Great microbrewery, right off Main Street. Parking is a little rough, and the brewery space is tight. Indoor and outdoor seating, both are dog friendly, but due to the limited space, I did see dogs getting tangled up with each other. Located just off main street, they have a decent amount of paved parking right in front of the building. This includes handicapped parking spaces as well. Access is very easy. There is also additional parking along the side of the building. The front patio has seating for about 10, but there is room to bring your own chairs if needed. If they have a food truck, it will be to the side of the patio. Inside has seating for about 20 at various sized tables and the bar. It's open and has plenty of natural light. Decor is minimal, but inviting. They can also open the garage door to the patio. They have a nice selection of beer on tap, and it changes often. Since the selection is varied, you can always expect to find something you like. The staff is really friendly and will give you as much or as little attention as you want. Even the customers are friendly, so you can have interesting conversations with about anyone. I have made the trip here several times and have always enjoyed the experience. It's sad that such a neat-looking place has such horrible beer. It's a great place to hang out, but their beverages are beyond awful. The first time I went, the beer I had was so bad that I swore never to return. Two years later, I went against my word and tried again. This time, I ordered the peach "seltzer". It tasted like popcorn and farts. I could only choke down about 2/3 of it before giving up. Someone please teach Eluvium how to brew beer - what a waste of a cool spot. read more

The patio is super cute and the inside is a little on the smaller scale. My husband and I both tried flights of beer and enjoyed them along with the company. My favorite was the Fox Mine Hazy IPA. I've been here twice and have been really impressed both times. This past time they had added food options and had both regular fare and a vegan menu. Unfortunately we had eaten prior to going but did enjoy a delicious hot pretzel with German honey mustard. As for their offerings on tap and bottle, it isn't a massive selection but is quality across the board with something for pretty much every taste. Porter, sour, ale, lager, IPA, etc available and super friendly bar tender (their website has their current offerings listed so you can check ahead of time). Oh man am I a fan of this place. Eluvium is the very definition of a micro brewery, and something I fear is dying out in Asheville. Not that we don't have a TON of micro breweries in our wonderful city... but they're all so glitz and glam now... Breweries are starting to feel a little bit more disneyland than houses of fermentation. Eluvium is an active brewery... you can smell it as soon as you walk in. The sweet scent of cereal grains contrasted with the pungent fragrance of yeast actively making the miracle of beer happen. Its decorations and atmosphere are its brew tanks. There's no food, because there's no kitchen, because every inch of space aside from the bar and a few tables is being used to make beer. That's where the focus is. Beer. And Eluvium does beer well. They're making new and different beers here each week. I was quite impressed with a german lager a few months ago, and have been waiting for it to make a reappearance on their constantly rotating tap menu. Until then, I'm happy to continue tasting my way through the other offerings they create. On weekends, they frequently have food trucks, and from what I understand you can call ahead to find out who's serving food in their lot. There's comfortable outdoor seating, and a few tables inside. But this is in no way a palatial beer brewing resort. It's quite obviously a project of passion and love, and something that we are lucky to visit and share. I wish Eluvium great success... and should they need a bigger space in the future I hope they pursue it... but I also hope that they never let go of this intimate and cozy space where they got their start. read more

So glad I stopped here tonight. The owners, John & Shea, were a delight and John (the brewer) was eager to answer my questions about his creations. They had five of their own beers on tap as well as some guest brews, including Gingers Revenge. (Yum!) I had the Empty Handed IPA and was pleasantly surprised with the abundance of flavor. It was super easy to drink and had a nice apricot finish to it. The atmosphere was low key and welcoming. This is definitely a great addition to the Weaverville community. There selection is small, but they offer other great Asheville selections. Their beers, although a small selection, are very good. They always schedule a food truck, and this weekend it was Baa'd Burrito. Very good! Really great folks. Baxter came with us and really enjoyed the patio. Dog friendly to the max! Weaverville has a little craft brew corner working, with Eluvium and right down the street Zebulon. A great respite from the Asheville crowds!
