We were seated immediately, although separately, which was not a problem. However, both of our manicures were extremely rushed. My sister was done within 30 minutes, which was because her nail tech did not remove the old dip mani and simply put the new one on top. I'll let her write a review to tell that story... My nail tech was Lina. From the beginning, we were not on the same page with what I wanted. I am from the area but live in a different state, and I get my nail done every month using dip applied with a brush. Lina didn't believe that I had dip on my nails, but I assured her it was dip and not gel. Then she said they don't offer dip applied with brush at Amy's (this wasn't true, because half an hour later, the woman next to me was getting dip allied with brush). We agreed to just do regular dip because I didn't want to spend any more time explaining the brush situation. Lina rushed through the manicure. She was done in 45 minutes. The shape is actually fine, which is surprising, but she made one of my fingers bleed due to roughly buffing the nail at the end, and she also over drilled my nails to remove the previous manicure. She blamed one of the over-drilling situations on my previous manicurist (not possible due to the placement of the issue - it would've been the very base of my nails, practically under my cuticle during the previous manicure) but fessed up to causing the second one. I've probably had 50+ manicures in my life so far and this has never, ever happened before. This is either my second or third time coming to Amy's, and each time, I have said "never again." But I really won't be back after this.

Last time I got nails I got acrylics with a very nice simple design. Apparently salons don't do acrylics now? I walked in and showed that design and was recommended some type of gel tip manicure, I asked how long it will last, I was told two weeks and I would have to come back to get them filled. Acrylics last 5-6 weeks. She then told me for what I wanted would be $100+ and that was only for a manicure. I was hesitant, they asked me to wait and I thought about leaving, but I overheard another person ask for a manicure and pedicure and was quoted $50. So I asked the man who was running around and the lady who first quoted me intervened. I asked how long a regular gel manicure would last and was told two weeks also. Why would I pay 3 times the amount when it will last the same amount of time. I felt like she was trying to just take my money instead of explaining my options. I was taken to get a pedicure and manicure by one of the nail ladies who was very pleasant and further explained my manicure options so I understood. However, I was very turned off from this place because they do not clean their tools. They used the cuticle cutters, wiped it off quickly on a towel and put it back in the holder without properly cleaning. Ickkk. I felt my session was being rushed by the man who kept walking around and checking in on each of the salon ladies. Like he was timing them. My design came out very messy for a simple design, I could have had a small child do it, and I feel it was the added pressure of the lady being rushed by the manager. After the most basic pedicure and a questionable manicure, it was still almost $100. I saw a few bad reviews, but wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. I would not recommend this spot. I would rather drive an hour to the salon closer to my mother's house and get it done properly and know the tools will be clean.

Plus my regular girl was booked elsewhere til the end of January and needed something ASAP. New Sweet Nails on Knollwood Rd in White Plains, carries an extensive array of gel colors and can have everyone who's anyone rocking a mani from one of these techs. Not sure if they offer eye-catching nail art or those sharp-ended stiletto nails- just ask. I like to keep my nails in tip-top condition with classy Essie nudes- that's just me. Pedi stations all use new plastic covers before you soak and tools are sanitized. In spite of that, the perimeter of this salon is filled with boxes- making the entire salon look unkept. I left a happy camper. My nail tech Piedad- had a steady hand and did a fabulous job.
