I should've know that the place was a scam when the dentist themselves bought me back and her first question before even looking at my teeth was have you ever had a deep cleaning. During the periodontal exam to measure the gum pocket depth I had almost all 1, 2, and 3s (good) and just a couple 4s (bad) in the back corners. The dentist said this was a sign of early periodontal disease and justification to refuse to do a normal cleaning (free on ins) and to do a deep cleaning (not covered) every 3 months (not 6) for over $800. Would not recommend, someone with less healthcare knowledge would be easily scammed by this dentist!

Everyone I encountered during my 1st appt was warm, helpful & positive. It was quite apparent that everyone loves their workplace. My hygienist was Samantha & she made all the difference for me. Dental visits can cause me some anxiety, and I told Sam that right up front. She proceeded to adapt her whole process to accommodate that. I felt so cared for! And I can truly say I look forward to my next cleaning! And oh, by the way, their skills are top notch as well.

My special needs son, who is autistic, nearly cried because the dentist could not get him to open his mouth for an X-ray. Instead of showing patience and understanding, the dentist became loud and pushy, saying, "He wont open his mouth, I don't know why he wouldn't, he's done this many times." His tone was not discreet, and the interaction left my son feeling scared and uncomfortable. My son almost cried while he was sitting at the chair. Even though my son has managed dental visits before, this experience has now made him fearful of going at all. It was very disheartening to see such little compassion for children with special needs. I will never go back to Modern Smile for even a cleaning. I did notice in the reviews that a patient lost a cap while their teeth were being cleaned, at least in that case he was fair enough to glue it back in for free.

Within about three years, one restoration failed and required emergency care. I no longer live in Texas, so I saw another provider locally. That provider was recommended by this office and uses the same lab. During that visit, I was shown a clear image of an unsealed margin on the tooth adjacent to the failed restoration. This area is now causing significant sensitivity and requires treatment. Despite this, I was told by Dr. Young that addressing it would be a personal choice and not necessary. I was also told that issues like this could be related to whether I was keeping up with cleanings. I have consistently attended my dental cleanings before and after the restoration. I have been trying to get help since April 11, when the crown failed. I was finally told on 4/30 that a night guard would be remade and sent. I provided my address and never received a response or update. My records state that a night guard was delivered to me after treatment completion. I never received a night guard. What I was given were retainers, which I believed were night guards all along. I raised concerns shortly after placement in 2023, including asymmetry and bite issues, and provided photos at the time. I relied on the guidance that things were addressed. I am now dealing with a failed restoration, another tooth requiring treatment, and no protective night guard despite documentation stating otherwise.
