Nightmare! Our deck is worse than before it was touched. Everyone went on vacation right before our job and could not answer any questions. Could not get ahold of anyone for over a week! Make SURE you read the fine print on the back of the contract. Many hidden charges. Want deck painted in between the boards? Duh! EXTRA$$$$. Looks like hell!!! Big drips in between and so noticeable! Screws just put In randomly all over the place. Not sealed. Every footmark shows now. We are actually going to tear it out now. Too many other companies to choose from. read more

I have never even called them before, the only experience I had with them was when one of their drivers today decided to park in a red zone, BEHIND my car while he worked. I was waiting outside of my car for nearly 45 minutes while looking around with a neighbor and after calling the number on the truck twice finally my neighbor helped me find the guy. I'm sure the service is good, but the experience I had with how stupid their decision on parking was..pathetic And when the guy finally came he didn't once apologize, but instead tell the lady who helped me find him to shut up. I hate giving family owned businesses a 1-star rating but after dealing with them last week, they are lucky to get the 1. We have used Springer's in the past for both deck refinishing and chimney repair. We were having issues with our fireplace damper that Springer's replaced and at the advice of another chimney company I called Springers to see if the damper unit was still under warranty (most have a lifetime warranty) and I had the original invoice. I was told early on that there was no warranty and they are not doing chimney work anymore. When I pressed further I found that they didn't actually have any paperwork to really know if the damper was under warranty, they clearly didn't care. I was told that they haven't done chimneys in several years but their last yelp review for chimney service was a year ago. Every time you call this company you will get their answering service. Be prepared to NEVER being able to get ahold of anyone there, ever. I found it much easier to deal with them via email but even at that, it was a very impersonal interaction. If when I asked for them to provide me with a name, I was only given a signature of "Springers". I honestly don't know how they stay in business, it was very frustrating to get a hold of them and they were not very upfront with me. read more

Stay away from this outfit. They use their coupons with teaser rates for a cleaning job to get into your house and, once there, perform an"inspection" which comes up with a trumped up condition and a horrendous upcharge for correcting it. Go with a trusted and reputable firm, such as Russo's, and pay their regular service rate. read more

We used Springers the last 2 years for our Chimney cleaning. They were great when they did this for us. However, this year, we made an appointment for Monday, November 19 from 9-10AM. We got an email confirmation noting a TWO hour window (not the one hour we had arranged). We gave the benefit of the doubt, and the time came and went and no call, no show. I called the office 4 times that day to find out what happened-- are they late? Do we have the wrong day/time even though we got the email confirmation? Each time I spoke with someone at the office, they thought it was odd, and they'd try to reach the owners, and couldn't reach them. We were told we would get a call back, and we never did. I can see one message getting lost or missed, but FOUR? I really don't get what happened here. Springer seems to have an answering service to relay messages, or they don't trust their office staff to book appointments on their behalf. It's odd. In any case, we have now called another company, Russo's, to clean our chimney. They've been prompt, friendly and were able to book the appointment when I called. I'm looking forward to working with Russo's for years to come. read more

The sweepers arrived and completed their work within the scheduled 2-hour timeframe. They were courteous and reviewed the work plan and quote before beginning. This was the first time I've ever seen or used chimney sweeper services before, so I don't have anything to compare their work to. But I am happy with the service provided and the advice re: how often I should have my chimney swept. read more

My redwood decks were looking very ragged and worn, so I called Springer's to get an estimate on restoration. Del came out within a few days and offered a very fair price, the job was quickly put on the schedule, the guys came out as promised, and the work was completed in a single day. They were friendly and very professional, and they did a fantastic job! The decks look almost as good as new, and everyone that has since seen them is impressed. NO SHOW! Came home from work so I could be there "between the hours of 12 and 2". The guy even calls me for directions to the house. When he arrives at my street, he speaks with a construction guy at the top of my property and asks him if I'm there. The construction guy tells him "I don't know" and the Springers representative gets in his truck and bails. Doesn't come to the door, doesn't call the number he had JUST CALLED...just takes off. When I call the company and tell them what had happened....they couldn't care less. But, they'll "be happy to reschedule". ...No thanks, you already took a half day from me. UPDATE : So after I was flaked on by Springers, I went with Clean Pros Chimney service. This is what service is about! Luis is the man! Springers had quoted me 2 different prices for the job (depending on the type of wood burning insert I have it would have been $175 or $225). Luis looks at it and says, "nope....still $150". In and out in about 45minutes. Plastic over everything. I swear the room was cleaner than when they got there. read more

I had Springer's come out to restore my 3 year old deck. The "stain" that was applied when the deck was originally constructed was applied too soon and did not adhere to the new wood. When we agreed to the restoration I choose a solid paint. William the lead man on the project told me that they might be able to use a light colored clear stain after washing and sanding. The grain and knots stood out and a light colored clear stain was used. The deck came out beautiful. This morning with the sun shining the deck, the luster was incredible. If you want your deck restored, give Springer's a call, their crew is 100% efficient. read more

Came exactly on time, charged exactly what I was told up front, wore booties :), used drop cloths, very respectful, thorough cleaning and clean up afterward. Could not be happier. I had Springers restore two decks last summer and they did a wonderful job so I called them in December about cleaning my gutters. Two workmen came the next day but it was too wet and my roof too steep to do the work that day. They said I'd get a call within a couple of days. A week goes by and I again call and leave another message and no call back. I call a third time and give the receptionist a piece of my mind and I discover it is a call center which just passes on messages. Work performed 10-2013. Saw their coupon in the coupon mailer envelope for $69 and decided why not; what could possible go wrong with a cheap chimney cleaning job. Let me tell you--a freaking soot mess inside your home where you will end up spending many hours cleaning! The plus side is the two guys called before arriving and arrived on time. One guy climbed up on the roof only to inspect and scare me into paying for expensive repairs while the other began to vacuum the fireplace and running a poled wire brush UP the chimney. WTF? -- I questioned his method and informed him that a previous company sealed up the fireplace then brushed it from the roof downward eliminating the possibility of a sooty mess inside the home. They insisted it would not make a mess because the running shop vac would suck up any dust in the air. Yeah right. Well let me tell you, the soot dust is so micro small you can't actually see it until it settles on your pictures, furniture, door seals, window ledges, lungs etc. I know it came from the fireplace cause I dusted and cleaned prior to the fireplace and then had to re-dust/clean the week after without having used the fireplace. Save yourself the agony and hire a professional company who SEALS the fireplace BEFORE brushing. If they don't do that KICK THEM OUT! I recommend Grady's Chimney Sweep & Service because I saw a posted picture (on yelp) of how it should have been done. I posted pics of these guys with a vacuum on the roof. Go Figure...good for a laugh. Note: If they had sealed the fireplace as I had requested they may have received repeat business plus a higher rating. read more

Beware!!!This review is way overdue! They came to my house to do my chimney and apparently the new guy couldn't get the vacuum to work properly and all the dust and grime came into my house! The owner was on the phone not paying attention to what his worker was doing. When the owner finally realized what was going on it was too late! well wasn't happy from the beginning. when they came out to do the deck they said some of the stains couldn't be removed. the estimator should have told me that. then a cracked board, a crushed down spout, and now spots showing up on the concrete, which my concrete guy says is the result of the stain they used. then the owner comes to the house and just wants to tell me about 30 years of experience. wow''' read more

We called Spingers to clean our chimney out of concern for creosote buildup. It turns out there was not much, however the sheilding inside the fireplace had deteriorated and needed attention. They were able to take care of the problem on the same trip and educated us as to how to prevent future problems. read more

I used this company before to clean my chimney flue. I saw a coupon for $69 for a cleaning, and decided to give them a call for the upcoming burning season. I left a message stating I was a prior customer, and I would like to use them again. I waited four days for a return call, and as it turns out, this was just a cold call. They did not realize I had called them for service. I scheduled an appointment for today, 10/19/11, between the hours of 10 AM and 12 pm. At 12:20 PM, I received a call from Springer's saying the technicians were just leaving a job in Castro Valley, and they would be here in 20-25 minutes. I waited for two hours for nothing.
