I guess with the reason for our stay…read more We were in town for the Mad Monster Convention, but our room at the Renaissance wasn't ready, so we booked a room at TownePlace Suites instead. The property itself is well maintained, the room is spacious, the air conditioner works great (which is essential when Glendale is regularly over 100 degrees), and I even appreciated the TV remote--something that sounds minor until you've stayed in enough hotels where half the buttons don't work. Unfortunately, my stay was overshadowed by an embarrassing experience that left me feeling singled out. I was sitting in my car finishing a few text messages about the convention before heading inside. While I was there, I watched several people walk into the hotel without being questioned by the woman at the front desk. When I walked in--wearing work pants, a white T-shirt, a brown beanie, and flip-flops--I was immediately stopped and asked what room I was staying in. I answered. Then I was asked for my last name. I showed my room key, but I was still told to go to the front desk. What bothered me wasn't simply being asked to verify I was a guest. Hotels have every right to protect their guests. What bothered me was that I had just watched multiple people enter without being stopped, yet I was the only one questioned. As I got on the elevator, the employee gave me a stern look and continued addressing me in front of other guests. It was uncomfortable enough that another guest in the elevator felt the need to tell me, "If you're not a guest here, you shouldn't be here." I quietly showed them my room key, rode to the second floor, and walked to Room 223. I can't say for certain why I was singled out. Maybe it was because of the way I was dressed. Maybe it was because I'm brown-skinned. Maybe someone thought I looked poor or homeless. I don't know. What I do know is how it made me feel: embarrassed, humiliated, and treated like I had done something wrong when I hadn't. Could the situation have been handled differently? Probably, on both sides. But I keep coming back to one question: Why was I the only person asked to prove I belonged there after watching several others walk in without a second glance? TownePlace Suites has a nice property and comfortable rooms, but no guest should leave feeling publicly embarrassed or singled out. I hope management takes a closer look at how these situations are handled so every guest is treated with the same level of respect.

It's close to everything, which makes getting around incredibly easy. One of my favorite touches is the all-day coffee station with flavored creamers available for guests to help themselves. It's such a simple thing, but it makes you feel genuinely taken care of. The beds are exceptionally comfortable, and overall this is hands-down the best hotel I've stayed in. And that says a lot coming from someone who travels all over the U.S. on a regular basis. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone!

Nice area close to many amenities. My only complaint truly is that your laundry should be free to guests. As much as these rooms cost.......should be free. Also it would be wise to tell guests, that your laundry room doesn't read credit cards and you will need to remove your laundry and take it down the street to Clean and Shine to get it washed. The front desk lady mentioned it was credit card only. But didn't mention what garbage readers they have on the machines.

The prices were very cheap especially considering it was the weekend before New Years. We ended up getting a two bedroom suite with a kitchen (see photos). I could post all the photos but it was a very nice room. And considering the price it was a really good deal. The fitness center is located in the adjacent hotel North, basically 10 yards away on the other side of the pool. It has a machine, teeadmills, and weights up to 50 lbs. The complimentary breakfast is very good with eggs, potatoes, bacon/sausage, cereal, etc. They also have waffles that alternate between blueberry and vanilla. I posted a photo with the hours. Coffee is available all day. Service was great and again for the price awesome deal.

I finally got the corn hole bags after I got a grown and her breath in my face, then she starts almost like investigating me. Like I thought that I was here to play corn hole not that I'm a witness in a murder. And I know this isn't required because there was a guy a lot younger before her and he was amazing, 5 star for him. He always had a smile and was nice to everyone that came. And he gave it to us no problem and enjoyed talking with me and my friends. But really, this lady RUINS THE MOOD. Hotel amazing though, but you better pray she isn't your front desk lady.

I do have a bad knee so if I had known then I would have seen about a different option. The room felt clean except for the tub and has everything we needed. There was construction going on but it was not super loud. We checked out the gym good variety with everything you need for a good workout cardio' and weights. They had a water filling station which we always love to see. Would deff stay here again.

After that, I recommend parking behind the hotel, where there's significantly more parking available and convenient access to the building. If you're considering an IHG property, this is one of the better Holiday Inns I've stayed at. There's also an on-site restaurant that's isn't half bad making it a great option if you'd rather relax at the hotel instead of heading out for a meal. Overall, it's a comfortable, well-maintained property that I wouldn't hesitate to stay at again.

Ordered a Clase Azul tequila $10 and an IPA with Nick Cage's mug on the can "Hazing Arizona". Great little place just few doors down from a taco shop. Your dollar goes a little farther here if you want to pre-game. And then it was off to see the Boss ..Bruce Springsteen.
