We travel to Phoenix area quite often because we have family living close by. This was our first stay at the beautiful, somewhat secluded Avondale location. Features quiet hotel rooms. No traffic or other hotel guests noise. Our check-in greeting was cheerful and welcoming. In fact, the front desk personnel (all 4 who I encountered during our 2-1/2 day stay) were outgoing and extremely helpful. The diversity of staff directly mirrored the diversity of guests. Yes, I checked folks out at the free buffet breakfast. And speaking of the BREAKFAST: Day #1 ... Turkey sausage patties, spinach & egg quiche, breakfast sandwich, cinnamon muffins. Day #2 ... Fluffy grade A scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, breakfast sandwich, commercial packaged blueberry muffin. Cereals: Oatmeal, corn flakes, fruity pebbles, Cheerios. Fresh fruit: whole bananas, apples. Yogurt: Vanilla & strawberry with tray of garnishes like pumpkin seeds, walnuts, pecans, coconut, brown sugar, chocolate chips, dried apricots. Milk: regular & chocolate Coffee: bold and decaf Tea: variety of flavored tea bags Bread and bagels to toast. No pancakes or waffles. * . * . * . * . * . * . * . * THE ROOM Clean, modern. Excellent full use of space without feeling claustrophobic. Two comfortable Queen-size beds. Separate living room space with pull out sofa, desk, chair, microwave, fridge. Spacious bathroom with shower (no bathtub), side lit mirror perfect for makeup application. Huge walk-in closet with plenty space for luggage, clothes, shoes for a family of 4. Full length mirror. Minimal drawer space. TV mounted on wall between bedroom & living room. Swivels to allow viewing from either living space. * . * . * . * . * . * . * . * THE GYM Located off the lobby. Eyebrowing raising. I can't give a 4*. To me, a 4 is basically saying *almost* flawless quality and that's not the case here... First thing you need to know is the unrelated to the rating. Beware that the traffic to the lot is egregious. A few miles away can take 20 minutes because of the bumper to bumper streets. There's currently some construction and closures in the area, however once that clears up it will still be pretty busy because it's a dense area. Let's discuss the property. The patio is cute with nice furniture but of course it's very hot because there's no shade covers/awnings. In the back there's a small pool, cool and clean, with provided towels and a few loungers. The hallways and elevators are kept well maintained too. Now for the hotel experience... Upon checking in we informed the front desk we were celebrating our engagement and they offered a strange line of questioning rather than like a complimentary chocolate or nice rolled towel or water bottle, etc. Just in poor form. Here's the meat and bones, let me tell you about the room. Very nice layout, although the space would feel wider and more breathable if the desk didn't have a big wall unit around it. There's a tiny pad and a pen supplied as well. Bed and couch are fairly comfortable. Nice big window but very bright so you'll usually want it closed. For the bad... the TV doesn't allow hdmi or console volume control, it's so loud it will blow out your ears, not to mention it took 15 minutes just to connect to the internet because it can't prompt the browser login page. Speaking of internet, it requires you to sign up for a Marriott free membership to access the wifi. That's different. Our room itself also reeked of dog like it was in the AC and carpet. The hotel IS dog friendly, I get that but please use an ozone machine, wipe the vents and steam the carpet after. It was very obvious especially if the AC was not on circulating the air around. In addition the smell would kick up even more for a moment when the AC initially turns on so it's an all over problem. The bathroom was odd... for such a nice looking room it was unexpected that there's no fan for the toliet and there's no door inside it so if you're in the shower you will look directly at the toilet. They supply 2-3 days of showering towels but I'm used to seeing 5 days worth stored in most other hotels so we had to reuse often. Shower seems wide until you realize the configuration makes it cramped. The head water jets out so if you stood directly under it, there's a 1-2 person gap to the wall where you wouldn't feel the water. Opposite wall of the head has he controls and normally it's going to be under the head on the same wall. The heat can either take 15 minutes to warm up or it can be scalding instantly and I assume this is because the nearby rooms share a tank. Strangely enough when the pipes would be hot during the day, the water was the coldest and at night it was the hottest. Lastly, beware THE WALLS - they are paper thin like parament transparent paper thin. You can hear someone shutting a draw in the floor beneath you or opening the bathroom slider in the next room. Upon check out the staff gave attitude and that really sealed the 3 star. For some reason they thought he was joking about wanting to check out? I wouldn't stay here again but perhaps I'd find a different same franchise hotel. read more

I recently stayed here for a two-night, three-day business trip and had a fantastic experience. The staff is incredibly professional, accommodating, friendly, and engaging. The rooms are straightforward, clean, and well-designed. I especially loved the large bathroom and the fact that the room included a microwave, which was very convenient. Straightforward breakfast. We utilized their conference room for two days of business, and the staff was extremely flexible and accommodating with our group's needs. Springhill Suites in Avondale is a great hotel in a relatively quiet area but with plenty of restaurants within the vicinity. We paid a very fair price for our king room, having only made our reservation earlier that morning before heading up from Tucson for the Raiders/Cardinals preseason game. Very clean, very comfortable, staff was very friendly. Free breakfast was decent and plentiful. I'd definitely stay here again. read more

This location is so relaxing and out the way they have the best breakfast!! Caleb at the front desk was amazing!! Such good energy !! Marriott needs more like him he can brighten anyone's day!! I stayed here for 1 night for business. This hotel is brand new and everything about it was positive except for the check-in experience. Pros: New, clean, spacious rooms. Fast, reliable WIFI. Smart TV with movie channels. Free parking Free, hot breakfast Cons: Front desk staff could offer better service. Tried checking in early and was told room was not ready. While I waited in lobby, 15 minutes later person comes in and is able to check into his room. It was quite an uncomfortable situation and wrote to hotel General Manager about it and have not received a response. Walls are rather thin and hallways are noisy. You can hear the doors opening and closing next door. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. read more

Stayed here in June for a family funeral we were attending. The hotel is in a quiet area, down the street from plenty of restaurants and shops. The room was clean, we did ask for a bed set & blankets for the sofa bed as there was none in the room, like the lady at front desk said there was. Breakfast had different options, eggs, sausage, toast etc.., the lady doing the breakfast was friendly and kept it stocked. The reason I am rating it low was because there was a problem when they were trying to charge my card. Their credit card machine was down when I checked in. Two months after I stayed here, I receive a call from them & this lady leaves me a threatening voicemail. We got it sorted it out, but it was disappointing to have to deal with something that it was an issue on their end. Horrible customer service, I feel she could've worded things differently and not reached out the way she did. & to top it off she said she was the assistant general manager. Hope no one else has to encounter any issues like this from this place. I would never stay here again. read more

Our group of 4 had reservations to stay here one night. We didn't get to check in until late night and the lady behind the desk was super nice. The room was very modern and clean. We had two queen sized beds that was very soft. The bathroom was very brightly lit. We all left pretty early in the morning for our other road trip but we were all very gracious that the hotel staff had the complimentary breakfast set up as we were checking out. This was super nice. They had plenty of coffee and breakfast ready for us to take. They were wonderful! read more

It was a comfortable stay. Rooms were as expected, clean, etc. My biggest complaint would be about breakfast on Christmas Day. Breakfast was from 6am-9am, I got there at about 8:45 and there was no hot food left. The eggs container, potatoes container, and sausage containers were all absolutely empty. The bread box, which according to signs housed bagels of different types, muffins of different types, only had 3 bagels left, leaving the container basically empty. Then the milk, my daughters drink nonfat milk, so of course I went for the nonfat milk cartons, and they were super expired. They were expired from December 16! Again, I was here on December 25. I ended up grabbing some oatmeal (lukewarm at best, but definitely not hot) and coffee, because there was pretty much nothing else left. If breakfast is advertised until 9am, the hotel should ensure there is food available until 9am, not 8:45am or who knows, it might have been gone since earlier, but I didn't get there until 8:45am, so I can't say anything about breakfast being empty since earlier. read more

We stayed in this place just overnight. We came in late and the receptionist were very nice and so accommodating. We were able to get a close rooms together. We were leaving early the next day and the receptionist Jamila accommodate us for early coffee and later breakfast. I really love this place. It's clean and airy. It's also a new place. read more

For a large family and for the location, it was definitely worth it. There's lots of pluses, but it's got some areas to improve on. Nevertheless, we'd still come back again! Rooms had the right amount of beds and space. Two beds plus a large couch with a trundle bed. And they still had room for a desk, mini fridge, microwave and walk in closet. Closet is large, but having a bit more shelving or some drawers would be helpful. Bathrooms had shampoo, conditioner, body wash and soap. Having more than one towel rack, maybe extra hooks, would be helpful. Also having a separate space for the toilet would've also been helpful. Laundry room was across from our room, but we didn't use it. Don't know if they charge. Breakfast is included. Oatmeal, cereal, sausage, bacon, eggs, bagels/bread, milk, juice, coffee. Good amount of food, but not really recommended unless you got no choice. If you have time, there's local spots with really great breakfast. Location worked out great. 10 mins or so from Camelback Ranch. 20 or so from NASCAR track. Being Dodger and NASCAR fans, this hotel spot was perfect. 15 to the outlets. 35 to the airport. 25 to downtown. Lots to do around the hotel area, but yet, still a pretty quiet area. Not must congestion. Ended up being the right place for us. Customer service when we checked in was good. Nice and friendly. Even though we checked in after midnight. Aside from that, we didn't interact with any other employees. read more

Excellent all around! It is less than a year old, away from the worst of Phoenix traffic, but easy access to freeway, tons of shopping nearby for anything you want, and still close to major event locations. Breakfast was fresh and area kept clean. Reception was welcoming. Parking is free, includes EV. And it was a great deal. read more
