From the crew at the valet station, the concierge desk (who host daily après ski hot chocolate and fresh-baked cookie parties!), the housekeeping team, the ski valets, the spa attendants, and all of the wonderful F&B folks, the service here is impeccable. The hotel amenities include an elegant spa, well-equipped gym, pilates and yoga studios, heated salt water pool, and three infinity hot tubs that are perfect for après ski soaking. Of particular note, the Westin has updated its Ski Valet shop which offers faultless service for those availing themselves of the Beaver Creek Ski resort. The valets bring your skis to the Gondola which is right outside the door! The lobby bar, the Lookout Bar, and the Stoke and Rye served our guests with superbly crafted food and drink. It should be mentioned that Chef Richard Sandoval is leaving so Stoke & Rye is being repurposed into an Italian eatery under the guidance of a new Chef - we look forward to experiencing this new venue. We held an arrival dinner for our guests in a private space - the Osprey Room - and the food, drink, and ambiance were exceptional. The room was cozy yet spacious and created a warm, welcoming environment for our guests who traveled from all three coasts. We want to make particular mention of our hostess, Sonja Eichenberger. Sonja managed every aspect of our affair, ensuring every dimension of a large party was attended to the last detail. Sonja listened to the Bride's comments and discerned solutions that were both creative and thoughtful. We had several dignitaries in our party - two Senators, a US Attorney, and a Fox News commentator - and Sonja saw to it that consideration was made for both their privacy and security. Much of the success of our special event rests with Sonja. The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Avon is an exquisitely fashionable property but it is the staff that makes the experience special. Very disappointing experience at a Marriott property…read more We booked this property because it's part of the Marriott family and expected a certain level of comfort and consistency. Unfortunately, this was one of the most uncomfortable hotel stays we've had. The biggest issue is that there is no air conditioning in the rooms. During the summer, the room became unbearably hot, making it nearly impossible to sleep. We tossed and turned all night. The bedroom window only opens a couple of inches, providing little to no ventilation. To add to the frustration, there's a sign where what appears to have once been an A/C unit that says something to the effect of, "Enjoy the natural air conditioning." While that may work during cooler months, it certainly did not during our stay. We understand this is a timeshare property and that some policies differ from a traditional hotel, but we did not expect the lack of air conditioning or the strict 10:00 a.m. checkout with no consideration for Marriott Bonvoy status. If you're planning a summer visit, be aware that the rooms can become extremely warm. We cannot recommend this property during the warmer months and, unfortunately, will not be staying here again.

Yet, instead of even bothering to look at my loyalty profile, she assigned me a room that was quite awful. When I came down, another person (Maria) took on the task of rectifying my sad experience. Luckily, Maria happened to be the Manager on duty. With a very calm head, she rectified the whole horrible mess and ultimately set me up with a very nice room for my wife and I. People such as Maria should be recognized for keeping a cool head, acting professional, and going the extra mile to prioritize customer satisfaction/experience as the ultimate goal in the hospitality business. You may not get Maria when you check-in. But if things go awry (which very well could - given my initial experience) always ask for Maria, the Manager. Will I stay here again? If there are more people there like Maria, yes, I would. Giving three (03) stars due to an hour of frustration and going back-and-forth at the front desk. Hoping next visit would be smoother and better so I can rate this place better.

They were warm, welcoming, professional, and genuinely tried their best throughout our stay. My disappointment is not with the people working at the hotel--it is with the management, planning, communication, and overall operation of the property. My wife and I booked this stay specifically for a romantic break. I have been traveling extensively, and we were really looking forward to some quiet time together. Unfortunately, we were not informed when booking that there would be a large wedding taking place at the property during our stay. When we raised this concern, we were told that the hotel could not tell us that a wedding was taking place because of privacy considerations. I found that explanation difficult to understand. We weren't asking for the names of the couple, details about the wedding, or any private information whatsoever. Simply letting guests know that a large wedding or private event would be taking place at the resort is basic information about the environment they should expect during their stay, not a breach of anyone's privacy. The wedding itself was clearly a high-energy event, and while I have absolutely nothing against weddings or people celebrating, the atmosphere was completely at odds with the quiet, romantic getaway we were expecting. Had we known in advance, we simply would have chosen somewhere else. More importantly, the impact went beyond the atmosphere. The hotel appeared to be operationally overwhelmed by the event. There simply did not seem to be enough staffing or inventory available to adequately serve the other guests staying at the hotel. At around 10 p.m., we attempted to order room service. We were told that the only option available was a Caesar salad without protein because multiple other menu items had sold out. This wasn't an isolated case of one particular item being unavailable--it seemed that multiple menu options and ingredients were no longer available. We experienced something similar at the Japanese restaurant. Again, the service from the staff was fantastic. They were doing everything they could, but effective inventory management should be a fundamental part of operating a property at this level. If a hotel is expecting a significant increase in occupancy and demand because of a major event, it should be anticipating that demand and ensuring it has sufficient stock to deliver the experiences and menu choices it is advertising. The staff were not the problem. The operational planning was. We did raise our concerns during the stay, and unfortunately, at one point the conversation seemed to shift toward the fact that our reservation had been made using Marriott Bonvoy points. I found that particularly disappointing. How a guest has paid for their room should not determine the quality of experience they receive. I am a long-standing member of the Marriott ecosystem, and one of the reasons people consistently choose to stay within a hotel group is the expectation that loyalty will provide a consistent experience across the brand. Whether a stay is paid for with cash, points, or a combination of the two, the guest is still occupying the same room and should receive the same standard of hospitality. In this instance, I simply did not feel that the value proposition of being a loyal Marriott guest was reflected in our experience. At some point, management needs to decide what this property wants to be. If it is going to operate as a major wedding and events destination, that can certainly make sense from a revenue perspective. But if that is the strategy, the hotel needs to ensure it has the staffing, inventory, communication, and operational capacity to continue providing an exceptional experience to the other guests staying at the property. Right now, it feels like the property is trying to do both, but the experience for non-event guests can suffer significantly as a result. The biggest disappointment was for my wife. We booked this as a chance to reconnect and have a quiet, romantic break after a period when I have been traveling extensively. Instead, the overall experience left her genuinely let down. To be absolutely clear: this is not a criticism of the staff. They were lovely, fantastic, and did everything they could. This is a criticism of management and the operational decisions surrounding the event. If you are looking for a romantic couples' getaway, I would strongly recommend considering an alternative property in the Beaver Creek/Vail area. If you are looking for a wedding venue, however, this may be a very different story. For us, unfortunately, it was a two-star experience and a significant disappointment given what we expected from a Ritz-Carlton.

The spa here is $250 + 22% mandatory service charge, which comes out to be $305 per 80 minute session.

While there is no pool or outdoor activities, they do try to have events in the owners lounge, or snacks in the lobby. Again, more of an average type of event. Considering this is a "presidential" room location. You would expect more. For the most part, stuff was very nice. They all seem to be well informed of the area, and always had a smile on their face.

The loquacious salesperson comprehends that winter inventory will virtually sell itself; however, several winter months of maintenance fees will not support the bottom line. This simple analysis has led to a market glut of time-shares in destination areas such as Orlando. Another factor is that the U.S. time-share market clientele is simply not attentive to the geography or demographics of The Rocky Mountains. Interval International categorizes every state from Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming as the "Rocky Mountains." These states may indeed share the Rockies, but these states have very ingenuous differences even for the client who is a skier. And specifically, there are market differences in Vail, Avon, and Beavercreek, Colorado. All three of these communities are grouped together on the Interval International website with no discussion of the vibrant differences that location provides. A client from the Midwest or East with an upscale property will unlikely be unhappy to learn that following several hours of flight and rental car drive that the family will be vacationing near I-70 or in a poorly located time-share. Beavercreek, Colorado is near Avon, Colorado, and the difference in ambience is equal to the vertical difference between the two villages. Several years ago, my wife and I viewed the construction of St. James Place in Beaver Creek; then we experienced a sales tour. The developers of St. James Place in Beaver Creek incorporated the aesthetics of a mountain property that blended in perfectly with the architecture of Beaver Creek. Zoning regulations are vital to a tony community such as Beaver Creek. The insouciant time-share owner may visit the Vail, Avon, and Beavercreek page at Interval International, and "discover" 16 properties. These properties are vastly different, and woe to the decision-maker who chooses poorly for his family. Beaver Creek has several very fine properties, and some research is necessary. Beaver Creek has become a true four-season resort village and is home to some very expensive second and permanent homes. The minute I saw St. James Place available, I traded for a summer week. After I booked and can't cancel I received an email that the property is under renovation and the courtyard would be closed and there would be exterior work going on during my stay. Every one of their rooms is impacted by noise in the courtyard on a good day let alone crews jackhammering the whole time. I feel like their employee should have let me know. Very disappointed!
