The room itself was beautiful - spacious, bright, and exceptionally clean, which made it easy to immediately relax and feel at home. West Elm sofa with roll out bed, shower room and wash closet plus walk in closet. Desk and chair. And the room had both a microwave and refrigerator The dining area in the lobby was spacious, bright, and had complimentary water and coffee all day. There is roof top seating The gym is LA Fitness! Park in North or South Garage It's honestly the first hotel I've stayed in, in a long time, that truly felt peaceful and restorative after a full day. The only positive experience was the location. The ground floor is a Panera Bread, therefore front desks were located on the second floor. The checkin and key cards pickup was fair, but was expected to be more friendly. Was directed to park in the public garage across the street, which did NOT offer in-and-out access, therefore "Parking - Self" on the website was very much mis-leading. The hallways and elevators were average and alright. The room cleanness was as fair as expected. The toilet was leaking all three days, so had to open the water tank cover to manually stop the water. The ceiling light in the closet was out of order! The window curtains were too short, so the sunlight went into the room to wake us up around 6am! The "daily hot breakfast" was horrible! There were two or more flies in the food area. There was only one server, so food items were re-stocked extremely slowly unacceptable. The eggs and meats were quickly ran out for the day. The choices of bread and pantries were very limited. Fruit baskets were quickly empty, either. On Sunday morning, someone pulled the pancake batter machine, so no fresh pancakes anymore. Recommend calling to confirm if everything gotten improved prior to your reservations. read more

Well finding a phone number to call and confirm registration was a total nightmare. I had problems even with Yelp finding this place. After looking up Marriott Springhill locations it never appeared. I only found it when I selected map and a star appeared where im at. And it was correct. I just gave up trying to do the online confirmation and took a chance my room was available. I only had an address. The numbers i found were all for annoying places wanting to book a room. When i did call one since i had a reservation it could not help & said to contact the business that booked my itinerary. The room is nice but parking is going to be a nightmare. You have to pay! Im only here for a week but probably not coming back to this location only due to the parking. I will say the staff completely understood my frustration. But i will say its a really nice room and the staff is extremely pleasant. I would have given 2 stars if it wasn't for the staff. read more

This hotel is the perfect example of lots of pros but also lots of cons. But I think I will still come back despite the cons because the pros are pretty good. Pros: - Usually hotels have a built-in gym with all the basics, but since this hotel is attached to LA Fitness, that space has become Springhill's gym which is great because there are a lot more and different equipment and facilities. The bad thing is the gym is not the most sanitary. - The location is wonderful! It's next to a lot of eats as well as supermarkets too. - Free breakfast! It's not the best food in the world, but it is free and it will fill you up. Cons - The hotel has some sanitary issues. When we entered the room, we found trash stuffed in one of the corners of the mirror and a hair on the bathroom stall which was really gross. - The shower is actually separated from the toilet which could be good or bad depending on how you like your bathroom to be laid out. - The pillowcase had a pretty awful smell to it. It smelled like it hadn't been washed for a while which was pretty gross. read more

For a chain that advertises and promotes cleanliness and great hygiene and sanitizing practices. This was the filthiest room we have ever stayed at. And we are long term elite level clients of Marriott, so that's saying a lot. Most disappointed with headquarters pretending to care by sending a generic reply, possibly by a bot that never responds back in human terms. Really evaluating where my future relationship stands with them, since there seems to be a total lapse of actually utilizing good practices, unlike what they run over and over on their video monitor and the actual truth! This hotel is really bad. First the rooms aren't really suites. More like a larger room but one room not really true suite. Smallest microwave also smallest refrigerator I've ever seen in a hotel. The bed was worn out and uncomfortable. Sunk right in to the bottom. The bathroom was extremely small. Had a separate tiny room for the toilet. TV was tiny. No place affordable to eat nearby, plan on a minimum $25 for the least expensive food on any menu in nearby restaurants. Top it off I've never had worse breakfast food. Absolutely disgusting. $19 a day for parking, no discount given. Last but not least, it rained two nights I was there and you can't really sleep when it's raining, sounds like someone slapping a leather chair over and over so I'd give this hotel zero stars or even a minus... read more

SpringHill Suites is located in a vibrant busy "square" with many eateries downstairs. I wish I had more time to explore the area but the hotel itself was great. The hotel staff was friendly, the free breakfast offered multiple options and the room looks very modern! The only feedback is that where our room was, we kept hearing people either in the hallway or next doors and the noise levels made it difficult to rest.. this said, I'd still book and stay at this hotel again. read more

It's a fine hotel; good for a night's sleep and relatively fast access to the Pitt University campus and the Petersen Events Center (about a 10 minute drive). We were in town for a concert and stayed here. The bed was comfortable, the room was spacious and we could even login to our Netflix account from their SmartTV which was cool. Wifi was pretty fast. Breakfast was served at 6:30am, but we checked out before we had a chance to enjoy it unfortunately. There is citrus infused water in the lobby and a pool in the basement, along with free access to the LA Fitness next door for hotel guests. Bakery Square itself has lots going on with shops, some restaurants and a gym - so you can pretty much get what you need without going much of anywhere. The biggest negative of the hotel was the $16 overnight parking charge. I much prefer when hotels have parking included, but what are you going to do? The parking garage was at least pretty convenient and accessible from the hotel elevators. read more

I sort of feel like I am in an episode of Mad Men in this hotel, Except that i have my laptop plugged in to the bar in the lobby. This place is new and in what I believe will be a new hot spot in Pittsburgh. I love the staff, so personable and not over the top with customer service, GENUINE! The room is soothing and sexy. I feel sexy in that bed. It doesn't serve food, but I am told there will be a bar food menu soon. It's new, so they are in beta and taking in the scene and the advice of their customers. Wifi is included in price of room, which I love and there are plug ins, much like you will find at a SOUTHWEST AIRLINE Terminal and I want to HUMP Southwest, so you know this place has my vote. Nice clean looking hotel. I didn't care for the toilet in one room and the shower in another. Not a huge fan of the sliding non-locking doors on the bathrooms. I have kids and would love sometimes just a couple of minutes to take a shower or get ready in peace without one of the kids coming in. They have free breakfast in the lobby. It was okay. nothing to brag about. I would have rather gone downstairs to the Panera for breakfast. At $247 a night I am not sure I would return to this one again. read more

This is by far one of my most enjoyed stays at a hotel. It was super, super clean in addition to absolutely comfortable and relaxing. My room had the toilet in a separate room with a sink than the shower and sink. It has fridge, microwave and mini coffee machine. They also had a wrapped paper plate, utensils and napkin in the microwave. So very thoughtful! The front desk folks were all very friendly and helpful. And I really enjoyed that even though they didn't have a workout room in the hotel, you just walk across the way and you can take classes and workout at LA Fitness. What a great setup! Breakfast is also included where they had scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, fruit, cereals, pastries, waffle maker, oatmeal, etc. I am always bummed out about having to pay for parking, but I think it was $16/night, but on the flip side, it was a large garage and I never had to worry about not finding a spot. I didn't get to enjoy walking to the surrounding restaurants and stores this time, but I hope I get the opportunity to stay here again and will definitely do it the next time. read more

We stayed here for a night for graduation at CMU, then moved to the Airport Hyatt in order to catch an early morning flight. The good: This newly-opened hotel (early 2011) shows very well - contemporary decor, pretty well thought-out rooms (separate work area, and separate toilet and shower rooms, both with sinks), free parking, and adjacent to a free health club and free roofed parking. We had a better than average free breakfast on Saturday morning in the lobby. The bad: Just couldn't sleep, for some reason. Very firm mattress, very fully-stuffed pillows, loud AC. Price gouging for graduation weekend (initially well over twice as much for our room as for the room at the Airport Hyatt Regency the next night, but I negotiated it down to just under twice as much). The street-level businesses in Bakery Square are developing, but those in the hotel building are still boarded up. read more

Excellent sort of near-boutique hotel conveniently located near the Nabiscoogle building on the edge of Shadyside, quite an improvement over options available in previous years. Rooms were quiet and well-appointed, although without a bath, they were akin to the modern Hyatts in terms of basic layout. Staff were superlative, lobby brunch / bar scene was actually pretty cool. I was only there for a short stay but it was very good. Parking arrangment is odd, as is the lobby, which is on the second floor; I won't even begin to describe it in detail, but it's a Pittsburghesque experience where you have to go down, up, over, down, up again, and over and through to get from the parking garage to the hotel. It's not convenient. Also, the "health club" is the LA Fitness next door (free as a guest), you are warned if you need to exercise, the extra hassle may or may not be worth the significantly larger-than-normal facilities. Request for improvement: better individual room environmental controls. I like having the fan on all night for white noise and air circulation, without having to tie it to a specific temperature. read more

The worst night sleep I've ever had. I was in Pittsburgh for an important interview and I thought staying at a Marriott would be a safe bet. The room was spacious and well decorated. But there were long hairs in both the sink and shower and had clearly not been cleaned-gross. The curtains were not long enough for the windows and the light shone in all nights because of street lamps right outside. The shower knob also wasn't screwed on and fell on my foot-surprised it's not broken. The air conditioner was SO loud and rattled on and off all night-causing me to wake up too many times to count. It also wouldn't stay on for more than a few minutes at a time and there were just so many noises. When we told the front desk our issues, they just said "I'm sorry about that" and nothing to try and rectify our terrible night. We are silver elite Marriott members and stay at Marriotts all the time-but YIKES!!! read more

Came here for a stay while my son was having surgery. Parking is $16 a night and the free breakfast is basically a lunch bag with a granola bar and a muffin. That will change once Covid is over I'm sure. Great location with a Panera Bread connected on the bottom floor and a Starbucks less than 100 feet away. The room was very clean and modern. The bathroom was split into two with the commode being separate from the shower which was a little inconvenient but doable. Unfortunately this hotel lacked in customer service. We were not aware that housekeeping was on a requested basis only but when we found that out my dad went to the front desk very early asking for our room to be cleaned up as my son was coming home from the hospital. We got home around three and the room was still not done. We were on the fourth floor overlooking a bus station/garage and the dumpster was so loud at night. The walls also appeared very thin as we could hear everyone around us. The bed was extremely comfortable though. We paid $72 a night plus the $16 parking fee and you get what you paid for. read more

The service at this hotel was appalling beyond words. I booked my stay at this hotel for two nights at the reception. By the time I came back to the hotel the next day (after my first night's stay), I found that my room was locked. I later realized that the receptionist had only booked my stay for one day and all my stuff has been cleared from the room. I extend my stay for another night again, but even by the time I left the hotel the next day, the hotel staff couldn't find and provide me my baggage that they had cleared from the room. They promised me to find my baggage, contact me, and ship it to me, but they did none of those things - whatsoever. No apology, no message, no responsibility, and no baggage! I had a very solid stay at the SpringHill Suites during my recent trip to Pittsburgh. My room was clean and big, with a huge lounging area and a desk, plus a mini-fridge and microwave, half bathroom and separate shower/vanity room. I loved that they had Paul Mitchell hair care products. What a great surprise! The bed was just okay. Not the most comfortable I've ever encountered in a hotel. I did really like the pretty blankets, however. Everything about my room felt very cozy. The front desk staff was always pleasant and helpful. There's a decently-stocked pantry with wine and beer as well. Just wish they carried frozen pizza as there wasn't much for a late night snack. The location is cool because it's in this cul de sac of stores, restaurants and other businesses. If I had extra time on my hands I would have went crazy in Anthropologie and Free People. Good thing I didn't have extra time on my hands. The nearby bar/restaurant, Social, is great for lunch, and there's also a Panera which I love for breakfast, coffee and getting some work done (free wifi). read more

Let me begin by clarifying that my husband and I are Hyatt people, so staying at anything "less than" the typical Hyatt Regency or better is out of our comfort zone. That said, I am going to be as straight up as I can be about the SpringHill Suites at Bakery Square. The good . . . The hotel location is great . . . a short drive to all things important in the Burgh. They have FREE covered parking. They offer FREE passes to the adjacent fitness center (not that we used it, but I have friends who belong and they are more than impressed with the facility. They have FREE breakfast -- which includes a few hot items to boot! It's actually pretty good. The room/suite has a defined desk/workstation area with great lighting to do work. FREE internet. Microwave and fridge in the room - a huge plus! Nice plasma screen TV with adequate channels. Bed is very, very comfortable. The staff is very friendly. The bad . . . If you are staying more than a couple of days, there is hardly enough hanging and drawer space. Each suite has two bath areas -- one with a shower and vanity, the other with the toilet and a pedestal sink. Don't believe for one second that you can actually use the pedestal sink for anything other than washing your hands! Try to put your toothbrush or toothpaste on the side and it falls into the sink. The vanity in the main area is not large, either. While the bed is comfortable, the sheets barely fit it, so you sheets do slide . . . and the box spring sticks out like a sore thumb. Housekeeping is spotty -- one day they forgot to replace the coffee and cups; one day they forgot to replace enough towels. The ugly . . . While the hotel is relatively new (open about a year), it is already showing wear and tear. The furnishings, while modern, are starting to look shabby. They have not used top notch materials -- laminate instead of wood, and faux tile in the showers. I am sure after another year or so, the shower (no tub, by the way) will look horrid and grimy. Carpets were not swept daily. I know this because there was thread on our floor the day we checked in, and it was still there when we left . . . five nights total. Also, there were many carpet stains throughout. Ewww! I don't think I am being overly picky. It just depends what you want in a hotel. I think it is nicer than the Marriott Courtyard a couple miles down the road which charges the same amount of money for their rooms, but doesn't give you the complimentary internet, breakfast, parking or fitness center pass. Would we stay here again -- without a doubt -- unless the reviews start to get substantially negative. read more

This hotel only recently opened, and you can tell. I'm sure some of what impressed me with this place was the tip-top condition, and crisp, clean whiteness of things, but I was a very happy guest. The decor is contemporary and pretty luxurious. The beds were really comfy, the shower was great. The suites have plenty of space, and even have a microwave to help satisfy a midnight snack craving. Breakfast was a little un-exciting, but I'm a picky breakfast eater. They had the usual continental buffet of a couple types of dry muffins, toast, cereal, yogurt, and oatmeal. The location is one of the perks. One of the nicest gyms in the city (maybe even the country...) is connected to the hotel, and entrance to the gym is included for hotel guests. Parking is also free at the hotel, which is really nice. But my favorite is the fact that there is a Coffee Tree (coffee shop) right out front. If you get bored with your room (or want to escape the drip coffee) you don't have to go far. There's a Trader Joe's within walking distance, too. As far as driving around the city goes, this is also a pretty central location, right by two main roads. I'd definitely recommend this place, and think about going back. read more

The SpringHill Suites at Bakery Square is the newest to open in Pittsburgh and I was very pleased with my choice to stay there. Parking at the hotel is free, which is always a bonus for any urban hotel. The lobby is typical for the brand and it was fresh, bright and very clean. The guest rooms were done in the new SpringHill style - I like the modern vibe I get from them, but I have yet to figure out why the toilet/sink are separated from the shower by a closet between them. Very odd. In the morning, the hotel offers an excellent breakfast - eggs, sausage, oatmeal, waffles, fruit, etc. and all for free. Internet service is also offered free of charge. Perhaps my favorite aspect of this hotel was that it was connected to an Urban Fitness gym. Even better - guests at the hotel have full use of the gym. What a deal! I actually regretted moving to the Renaissance downtown - this hotel was a far better value given all that it offered; while the location was a bit inconvenient, I would deal with that con for all the pros. read more

I've been staying here every time I've come to Pittsburgh since the hotel opened. When it first opened 4 years ago, it was awesome! Since then, it's started to get a dated, but was until recently one of the best hotels in the area. However, recently they changed ownership and it's gone downhill. I had 3 complaints about my recent stay: 1) They now charge $15 a night for parking, which is ridiculous in that area of town. For that, I'd much rather stay closer to the campus areas and walk. It used to be free, and was a great convenience. 2) As a Gold member, I was given a hard time about my late checkout request because there was a wedding party that had already requested it I didn't realize this was how the priority worked at that hotel... 3) When I turned over the comforter (on my 2nd night - not sure why I didn't notice the 1st night) there was a giant coffee stain on the sheets. Hopefully the new ownership will step up and bring this hotel back to where it was when it first opened. read more

For a hotel I would have assumed fell into a "budget brand" category, I really enjoyed my stay at this SpringHill Suites. It's shiny--almost to the point of being cheesy or tacky--lobby screams "brand new" and everything on the premises seems to be in perfect working order. Per the name, the rooms are large and bright and sectioned off so that you don't have to work where you sleep. There was a large pullout couch in my room, as well as a huge work station, microwave, and mini refrigerator. There were two bathrooms--one for showering and one for the toilet--and the bed was nice and comfortable. Wireless internet is free which is always a plus, and so is the basic continental breakfast. I would only have 3 minor complaints of the hotel during my stay: 1. There was about a 1.5 inch gap between my door and the floor, making it too bright while I was sleeping and too easy to hear people's footsteps going by. 2. The products in the bathroom were pretty cheap. 3. The fitted sheet on my bed did not fit and left the mattress blatantly visible from across the room. Other than that, it was a nice, clean stay and I would visit again. read more

This is my favorite place to stay when I'm spending time in Pittsburgh on company business. The hotel is new and clean and the service is always phenomenal. As a guest here, you get complimentary access to the Urban Active fitness center - also only a few years old. And a definite perk for staying here if you're into working out on your travels. They have free breakfast, free covered parking and a bar/lounge. The only downside I've come across so far is that the parking situation can be a little crazy in the early evenings - the parking lot is shared with the gym patrons, so it's insanely busy immediately after work. Overall, I'd recommend this as a great place to stay next time your'e in the 'burgh! read more

I stayed here recently on a work trip. I did not choose the hotel, but I was really pleased with it. I forgot a few items, and the desk happily furnished me with them gratis. The lobby is gorgeous, chic, stylish AND welcoming. The room was GREAT. I loved the sleek design and layout of the unit. Everything was simultaneously appealing AND comfortable. The breakfast was what one expects. The only complaint we had overall was that we asked the desk clerk if a nearby restaurant was within walking distance (or, "Can we walk to this?"), and while it was technically within walking distance, it was a less-than-ideal walking experience. I wasn't too uncomfortable, but my colleagues thought it was dicey. Here's the thing: This is what you rely on hotel staff for, the local knowledge. Yes, the distance was manageable, but the experience was unpleasant. It would have been nice for him to say, "Well, you can, but you may not want to." We took a car service back to the hotel from the restaurant, not wanting to repeat the experience -- now in the dark. I will stay here again if I have the chance. It's a great location and a beautiful and VERY FRIENDLY property for Marriott. read more

There isn't a dedicated fitness area in the hotel itself, but you are given limitless access to the LA Fitness that is adjacent to the property. Stayed here last weekend while in town for the Steelers game and was pleased with the room and helpful staff. Suite was nice and spacious with 2 beds and a couch that doubled as a bed. I like the idea of having the shower and toilet in separate rooms with them both having their own sink. Nice size closet with ironing board and iron provided. Mini fridge and microwave were also on site. Nice selection at the complimentary breakfast with plenty of helpings. Shopping within walking distance. Only con was the $16/day parking which may be on par for the area? Overall very pleased and would stay here again . read more

Comfy updated rooms. Similar to all Spring Hill suites if you ever been to another one. The walls here are a little thinner so I could hear my neighbors at night so not as great if you are trying to sleep. There are some shops downstairs and also complimentary LA Fitness gym access across the street - this works great for those hotels that are always lacking in terms of gym access. The La fitness access is a huge plus but not enough to overcome the thinner walls. read more

I booked my hotel room in February for April 5 - 8. I ordered a King bed. I got two double. There is no tub just a shower. I called and asked if I could be moved to a room with a King. was told they were booked. Called main office to see when I could get a new room. They would not have anything until after I leave. Really ????? No, we are sorry here are some more points or here is a free movie or we will comp a night. The women at the front desk were just rude !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They call themselves Marriott Suites. Horrendous experience - I made a reservation on the telephone for a two day stay. I was traveling to Pittsburgh for the funeral of the family matriarch. I wanted to use my points for one day and pay the regular rate for the second day. Reception telephoned me during the funeral to inform me that I was late checking out as I only had a one day stay. I informed them that I was in town for a funeral and had made a reservation for two days. I was told that the hotel is booked and there isn't room for another night stay. To shorten a horrendous experience, when I finally completed the funeral program I returned to the hotel, Sam the front desk receptionist (woman) shrugged her shoulders like 'oh well', and stated that the hotel is out of rooms, and we will have to leave the hotel.' No interest or desire to rectify the situation at the hotel. No refund on parking, no points returned, no manager on property, the hotel staff didn't even make the reservation at another hotel because they didn't want to stay on the phone. I telephoned the manager and he has not called me back. We had no choice but to leave the hotel and go to another property. I have been staying at this hotel annually since it opened. I am a Bonvoy Rewards Point holder-doesn't that mean that I am valued? I was treated poorly with no regard to the reason that I was in town-I was grieving. Oh, when I got to the room to pack, the key card didn't work and we had to return to the desk to get let in. The hotel is convenient, but I will never stay there again. Did race play an issue? I am sure. Hopefully someone from management calls me back. Is there a No Star rating? read more

I stayed here with my family the night before we moved into our new house. Couldn't have been a more TERRIBLE experience. We have a 10 month old daughter, and assumed that Springhill "SUITES" meant that we could get something with two rooms. This is important because our 10 month old goes to sleep at 7pm - WE DON'T. Knowing that it's not good to assume, I called a week ahead of time to make sure specifically that these "suites" had two completely separate rooms. I was informed by the rather abrupt Marriott representative that "of course the accomodations have two rooms that are separated by a door that can shut." Well, sure enough, they don't. And not only was Justin (the mgr - not sure of what...maybe he's in charge of staring at the wall) not able to help us, but he confronted my complaint as if I was lying about it. He told me he'd be happy to "help" me by calling another hotel in the city and booking me a room for the regular rate. While I'm not a MENSA, I'm pretty sure I can do that myself. So listen Friends and Family of Justin's Marriott dictatorship, hope that you don't have a problem, because you already got a good deal and you better just like it. I'd hate to see what they do to you if you're using the hotel employee rate! Ay! And if you even try to express a legitimate complaint to Justin the Horrible, he'll threaten to tell on you (he actually told me he was going to call my brother-in-law and his hotel on me)!!!! Congratulations, Justin. Your lack of professionalism, blatant disregard for customer service, and supreme ability to "not care" has really shone it's true colors. All you had to do was treat me like a valued customer and my concern legitimately, and instead, you rooted me on when I told you that I would specifically write you a bad review on Yelp. Really enjoyed my stay here! It's in a super convenient location with shopping in the square. There are a few restaurant options and a coffee shop as well. The Thai restaurant was really good and only a few shops down. Target and Trader Joe's are about .5 miles away. They have onsite laundry facilities. It's $2 to wash and $2 to dry and the front desk provides detergent and dryer sheets. The parking garage feels very safe and there is security in the square making it feel even safer. Your parking pass that you pay for with your room is valid until 6:00 pm after checkout. The hotel provides free access to LA fitness which is a really nice touch! The room has a modern contemporary design and the toilet is in a separate room from the shower. There is a sink with a mirror in each which can be super convenient if two people are getting ready. The breakfast was average. It consisted of oatmeal, cereal, fruit, eggs, and a waffle machine. My room and bathroom felt clean, and I had a comfortable stay. read more

I've stayed here 3 years in a row and things are starting to go downhill. Service is always friendly and prompt and the breakfast is pretty good, but I gave up on getting my tea here though because the hot water at breakfast tasted very strongly of coffee. In one of our rooms the pillows smelled really bad and had to be replaced. In another the mattress sank so much in the middle that we were touching, and everyone's sheets were tucked way too far into the mattress (short sheeting). The worst part was the strong musty odor in the lobby bathroom. They also started charging $15 a night for parking which we didn't know ahead of time. read more

To set things straight, it is a 4 star hotel and hence I give this review based on the expectation for something you would want to pay $200/night for -- meaning it's certainly better than $40 worth of motels, but that's not the point of this review. A few big cons: 1 bad sound proof between rooms -- there was a symphony of my upstairs neighbor's steps, next-door neighbor's TV, and engine noise of AC units from other rooms ( I shut down my own AC in an effort to reduce the noise level, in vain) for the 2 nights I stayed there. So praying for a quiet neighboring guest who wouldn't get up before 5am or sleep later than 12am. 2 quality of bed and pillar-- Lying on the bed for 10 minutes, get up, you will see a huge dent with the size of your body in the middle of the mattress. Little support for your back from the mattress. And like the other reviewer pointed out, the sheets slips aside every night and my guess is the size isn't right for the bed size. 3 quality of amenities -- I didn't bring my own shampoos and conditioners for this trip and after 1st night's stay, I decided to go buy my set from a nearby RiteAid. If you are guy who doesn't care, this can be ignored. 4. No room service -- this matters if you fly from the west coast and have no chance to get a real meal for the whole day. After 10pm almost all local restaurants close, including McDonald's! So your only choice would be calling for Pizza delivery, which tastes really bad. So be prepared and get some food from airport before heading off to the city. 5. Shuttle -- if you plan to use their shuttle, either book really early or think twice. Their shuttle got booked up soooo easily and I had to wait for 2 hours for the next available ride. So do plan to either drive or use school buses or even city buses. Those are way more reliable. Pros: 1. Free parking -- another review mentioned free parking is a past tense. Don't know why. At least I got free parking for my recent stay. 2. Okay continental breakfast 3. Free internet 4. Free Gym access 5. Very friendly staff 6. Clean room -- although I found some hair on clean towels, I decide it is unavoidable if you use big washing machine to wash towels. So not anyone's fault. Overall, for $200, I might want to try a different place on my next trip. read more

Clean, quiet and safe. In a word, reliable. And with a Panera Cafe and a Thai Bistro literally attached to the Hotel, you have a place to eat when you arrive tired and hungry. Next morning, an excellent breakfast buffet from yoghurt and oatmeal to eggs plus . Baked goodies also. Juice coffee tea milk. Everything kept fresh and filled up by attentive staff. A very viable location too- being right off Penn Avenue, you can get to the U's or downtown or head eastward with ease. (Well, not ease, traffic in Pittsburgh is nothing short of miserable. There is no easy way East/west or North/south. Period. But Penn Avenue works ok, just slow. And because it is slow watch out for those first minute or last minute people turning left across your path at the traffic light! They are desperadoes! ) read more
