This is my favorite place of all time. There was a time where my friend and I would eat here 2 to 3 times a week. We walked in, got sat, and the waiters always knew what we wanted to drink and eat. Anyone who knows me knows I love pho! So when I found this place not two miles from my hotel, I had to give it a try. I'm glad I did! A large bowl of "Meat Lover Pho" (eye round, brisket & meatball) was just the ticket! A rich, fragrant broth, free of oil, and large chunks of tender, fat-free beef made this the perfect end to the day. The waitress was cheerful and pleasant, service was efficient and correct, and the price ($9 before tip) was what I expect to pay. I'm not into bubble teas, smoothies and shakes, so I can't remark on them, but they offer a variety and the descriptions sound tempting. We were in Dallas for the Big 12 title game and were looking for a restaurant that had vegetarian options and the clerk at the hotel recommended Sprouts. It was an excellent choice. Our waiter was John and he was nice, friendly and efficient. We had the vegetable pho and it was probably one of the best we have had. The Age Tofu was also excellent as an appetizer. Silky on inside and crispy on the outside. We liked our dinner so much we went back after the game with a group of my daughter's friends and it was just as good as the first time we ate there. John was our waiter again and he was as good on our second trip as our first time there. When we are back in Dallas, we will try to go back. read more

Everyone told me I had to come here for pho once I moved back and I have to admit I was a bit hesitant because it looked like a chain and not the normal random hole in the walls I prefer. Thank goodness I did because this place was great! The restaurant is small and normally pretty busy so try to go on an off time. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was still pretty busy so who knows when an off time is. The inside reminds me of a froyo place with its bright colors. I was worried when I first walked in and saw the bright colors but I was committed. The restaurant is clean and the wait staff makes sure to clear tables quickly so that's always a plus. I had the vegetarian spring rolls with peanut sauce and the brisket pho. The spring rolls were a bit too minty for me but they tasted fresh and the peanut sauce was just the right hint of peanut butter. I would eat it by itself if that wasn't frowned upon! 2 spring rolls for $4 was a great price too. The brisket pho was new and I got the regular sized bowl which was more than enough for me. The brisket was great but there wasn't much in the bowl which knocked the rating down. I felt a bit overwhelmed by the amount of noodles and lack of brisket to be honest but it tasted phenomenal. For $8 you get more than enough for one person. I will definitely be back because the prices are inexpensive, the place is clean, and that peanut sauce is great. My waiter was friendly and great at balancing between keeping my water full and not being overbearing. Hopefully there will be more brisket next time! read more

Since it is a Pho place I guess i should be talking about that- but they have so many more amazing items besides the staple noodle soup we love so much. I always go for the Pho Ga- I don't like that they only have white meat here- as I prefer a combo of white and dark. I also don't really like their peanut sauce- for some reason it tastes old to me- and I guess I'm spoiled from other Pho places dashing siracha on it and adding a sprinkle of peanuts for crunch when it is brought out. Sprouts is a simple attempt to take fresh Vietnamese cuisine out of the generic Vietnamese restaurant box and present it in a more modern - say - Western fashion. If you don't know what I mean by generic Vietnamese restaurant, just drive further south on Collins until you get to Pioneer Pkwy or Arkansas and you'll find a myriad of restaurants that serve up what appears to be similar menu items. That's where the similarities end. "Generic" Vietnamese restaurants aren't as boring as it sounds. They just all have water-moldy smelling restrooms, 80s style tables and chairs, peeling wallpaper, sriracha* bottles with dried sriracha crusted on the spouts - seems a little dirty, but the food they crank out is loaded with flavor and Vietnamese lovin'. Sprouts does not exhibit these traits. Yes, it is a clean establishment. The furnishings are modern. Shelves are built in to the walls and are designed to accommodate the condiments for the table. But I'm lost? Which of the pretty containers is the sriracha sauce? And the food leaves little to be desired. The broth in their pho is reminiscent of warm brown colored water. It is definitely worth the few extra miles for you to drive a little further south where you can get more authentic flavors. *You'll also know which bottle is the sriracha. If you don't know what sriracha is... shame on you, you're not a foodie at all! read more

Totally agree with Eric about this place being good as an introduction to Vietnamese food. Actually It'd categorize this place as "fusion" rather than Vietnamese. If I'd wanted to eat Pho I'd go to Pho Pasteur, not at Sprouts because I like bold flavors of cinnamon and cloves in my soup. I need to be able to taste the roasted onion and the herbs. The up side about the Pho here is that if you're starving, they got a bowl as big as a punch bowl. Seriously, I couldn't help thinkin as I watched one man scarf it down, YOU CAN BATHE A BABY IN IT!!! I ordered a small bowl and was struggling through it so I was really distracted by this. There are lots of smoothies and bubble tea on the menu. If you're like me, you rate a restaurant based on three things: quality of environment, quality of patrons, quality of food. What intrigued me about Sprout's was first of all its name. It echoed feelings of crisp, fresh bean sprout ready to be drowned in a light beef broth covered with perfect white noodles. Upon entering, the decor echoed new, hip, modern with its pastoral green and brown. The counter tripled as a cash register, boba bar, and spring roll bar which gave it an open, clean atmosphere sometimes lost at Asian restaurants. The patrons were for the most part non-Asian (It is Lincoln Square afterall.. I have never in my 20+ years in the town known it to have anything Asian except for, I guess, Marble Slab). This sometimes can be a red flag for authenticity, but I think this is excusable being that I agree with the other reviews of it being more of a light fusion. I say light in the sense that this is an introductory pho which, in my opinion, is great! Pho helped me survive the harsh, cold winters of Texas during my college years, so by all means, spread the joy! My friend and I each ordered a pho and shared a duck mango spring roll with ginger sauce. I definitely liked the idea of having a menu of specialty spring rolls. The duck skin was a little bit hard, and mangoes just aren't really in season right now, but I did enjoy the ginger sauce with it. This could be a very good dish served in the summer when the mangoes are ripe. The main complaint I have about the pho is that the noodles kind of stuck together at first which generally means they precooked it. The presentation was nice though with individual servings of bean sprouts, basil, and jalepeno on a long white plate on which the square bowl of pho is also placed. Sprouts wouldn't necessarily be my first choice for pho, but if I was in the area again and wanting some pho, I'd definitely consider going again. read more

Mediocre Vietnamese food with too much hype (from man v food; we had someone try the challenge and they lost). We had pho here and the broth was completely bland. The waiters were bleh and I swear the food wasn't that hot. You know when you get a nice bowl of pho, you expect the broth to be pippin hot, I felt like the broth wasn't which is disappointment, my favorite part is burning the roof of my mouth. I got some of the classic spring rolls ($5), how the heck are they charging $5 for 2 spring rolls!? Do not come late on the weekend and expect not to have to wait. Honestly, I'm not a big pho person so I could not tell you if theirs stand up to the hype. However, I come here for the Boba! The selection here is huge compared to a lot of Vietnamese places and it is crazy good. I get Boba to go when its really busy. Sprouts also has amazing spring rolls! The grilled shrimp is good but the grilled pork is almost slap yo mama good. Ask for peanut sauce! The rolls usually come with fish sauce which is good but the peanut sauce just does it for me. Yum. The decor is trendy but the place is way too small. The staff are very friendly. The restaurant is located in a very busy shopping center so traffic and parking could be an issue. My advice would be to not go during normal dining times...go earlier or later and miss the rush! To be completely honest, if you have had authentic Vietnamese food this place will be a slap in the face. It is very Americanized. This is very evident in the non-pho dishes they serve. Tried Sprout a second time around and enjoyed it this time. I got a small chicken pho and changed the chicken out to grill chicken. It was really good. My friend ordered pork spring rolls. The pork was season just right and made the roll yummy. They don't skimp on their meat either. I ordered the mango green tea with boboa. My tea was too sweet but they were able to remake my tea. They have a pho challenge here and of course someone at the table wanted to do it. You have 30 mins to complete the challenge. It took him only 14 mins to get to about 90% done then he struggle til the end and completed it. You get a shirt for eating all the pho from the "Superbowl" and 15% off everytime you wear that shirt. This restaurant is really popular and raved about, but I have to say my experience was not that positive. The staff was really nice and the service was great, however I did not enjoy the pho. We had delicious appetizers but they didn't prepare me for the chicken pho. The taste was just so plain and bland, so me being me, I decided to add the greens they give you on the side for some flavor (cilantro,etc) and that just made the taste unbearable. Granted they let you add it yourself but I just wish I didn't have to. The boba was delicious though. The bathrooms are really clean and the atmosphere is great as well. We went back here after not going for a while and it continues to be very yummy, reliable food. We tried the crunchy chicken spring rolls. Now, based on the name and description, I expected them to be fried and crispy on the outside but instead they had the regular cold spring roll outside but then some kind of fried crunchies on the inside, along with chicken, avocado, cucumber with some basil and lemongrass. Very enjoyable! They said they came with "pineapple sauce" which did not entice me but it ended up just being the same kind of sweet chili dipping sauce you see everywhere, which was a good thing! I got the Shaken Beef (which I cannot say without doing a shimmy and a Paul Lynde impersonation.) It was SO good. Now, I've never had shaken beef anywhere else to compare but I have trouble believing it could be better than this! The meat is just so tender and flavorful, I wanted 5 more platefuls when I was done! The BF always gets the pork and vemichelli which I think tastes kinda eh no matter we go but he seems to like it. I always get great satisfaction out of stabbing that boba straw through that plastic top. THIS is the stuff that cravings are built from!! One of my favorite haunts in the 'plex. Wifey and I would visit up to twice a week for lunch and occasionally on the weekend with the kids in tow. We absolutely LOVE Sprouts. The staff is always happy, smiling and "on it". They also retain the same folks so that right there tells you something about how the restaurant is run - and that means a lot to me. A few of the girls even know our order by heart but they still verify it with us after we sit. Mine consists of the Grilled Shrimp Spring Rolls with a Beef Pho and add the meatballs. Wifey get's spicy edemame along with a Vegetable Pho - extra veggies. The shrimp spring rolls have grilled, marinated shrimp, fresh mint, rice (glass) noodles and come with a lovely dipping sauce that's a little sweet, a little sour and simply..perfect. The edemame is sauteed with some garlic-chili paste that adds a great little garlicy-heat. Definitely one of those finger-foods where you can't just eat one. This dish is finger-licking good. The soups are Always consistent in their broths, amount of broth vs noodles vs protein vs veggies which says a lot about the dedication to the cooking. Speaking with the owner one time, he indicated that their style and product of soup is more "American Pho" rather than truly authentic Vietnamese Pho. The ingredients consist of different cuts of meat, different flavors added to the broth and different (better) quality of ingredients used. That spells WINNER in my book. Went here yesterday after a hard day of going around the lazy river at Hurricane Harbor for 2 hours and fighting the waves for an hour. This place hit the spot! It's right next to a Marble Slab in the Half Price Books shopping center on the south side. The inside is small, clean and modern. It definitely caters to a more hip crowd. The menu is your typical pho shop menu, maybe even has fewer items then most. The pho comes in normal, large and sumo size. Finish the sumo and get a free tshirt. Apparently Adam from Man vs Food was recently there. The episode will air on the 17th of this month. I ordered 2 fried Viet egg rolls for $2.50 and a regular bowl with beef for $5.99. so prolly a dollar more then the hole in the walls charge for regular pho. No big deal I'll pay $1 extra to look at 2 cute waitresses. The egg rolls were piping hot, I even burned myself on some of the hot oil. The pho was good, not the best, but good. It was a little skimpy on the beef, hence only 4 stars. The best part of this place is, they serve boba tea. I'm a bob a tea addict. So for dessert I treated myself to some orange passion fruit boba. This is the worst Asian restaurant that we've been to. We order 4 kinds food and 3 food came and the employee forgot the last food until I tell her where were my pho noodle, and she said she will checked it and bam! She bring it right away BUT the noodle is already cold. I'm so super hungry and I eat it anyway but the employe did not give an apology at all. Then we done with out dinner, we want order the dessert ( the macarons) and the guy the front said that they have coffee, chocolate and strawberry for that day, then I want him to made the coffee. Waiting and waiting and he called me and he said that the don't have chocolate then I said to him that I was not order chocolate but coffee and guess what he said to me? He said we don't have coffee. Good atmosphere inside. I was surprised because if you judge the book by its cover, your expectations may be low when you walk in the door since it's located in a strip mall. I got a grilled pork vermicelli for $9.18, which I thought was on the high side. If you know Vietnamese food, you know you can get the same quality dishes for less elsewhere. Nevertheless, I got it to go and gave it a try. At best, it was mediocre. The noodles reminded me of spaghetti noodles and I'm used to the thinner kind. I also think the fish sauce could have tasted better. It was not as tasty as the ones I've tried in Dallas e.g. Vietnam Restaurant, Crimson, or even Pho Que Huong. I love the Pho now, the staff there is so friendly and totally kid friendly. Wonderful Boba Tea and iced coffee as well. My husband likes this place much more than I do...he loves the pork vermicelli. Since I'm vegetarian, I've tried the veggie pho (pretty bland), the stir fried veggies and tofu (ok, but I've had better) and the tofu spring rolls (very good). After all the hype that this place got from national TV , my friends and I decided to try this place out and see what the commotion was about . I ordered bo luc lac and it was salty salty salty . I tried my friend's fried rice and it was bland . I do give them credit for having this spring roll with duck meat ! That was actually really good and got my hopes up for the rest of the meal . But I walked out thinking to myself that if I can't say anything good, that I shouldn't say anything at all . But I'm also thinking that I need to spread the word and give future customers an idea of what to expect .
