We forgot that we have been to this mall years ago. We decide to venture back. Ordered pho no 4 from this mall food venue and to our surprise, the pho soup / the broth is authentic, fresh and scrumptious! Nothing fancy. The large portion is $14 cash. We have lived here for 4 years and been so disappointed with many of the Vietnamese restaurants here and this was a nice surprise/finding! This is inside the Asian mall towards the backside. Came here many years ago when it first opened. Wasn't impress then, but decided to try again last week. Here in the DFW, it was cold last week and I was there to go shopping at the grocery store next to it and was only getting bahn mi for quick lunch. Well, walking in from the cold, thought a nice hot lunch would be ideal. Order #4, which was their combination pho. Asked if they had large size, and he said this is big and it's only one size for $10. Well, I found myself with the only table open, even though it was dirty from the previous customer. Figure they would clean it when they bring me the pho. About 5 min later, he came over but didn't even bother to clean up or apologize foe the mess. Overall, the size was rather small. Smell, it was ok with a slight hint of pho aroma. Taste, it was just ok. Main reason I didn't care for too much is that it had a hint of gamey taste to it. Maybe it's the tripe not fully cleaned or cooked? Not sure, but it wasn't strong, but you can taste it a little. Over for $10 for no service, small bowl, and less than ideal on flavoring, i will just settle for bahn mi at bistro B, which was where I wanted to go to begin with. read more

Living in Minnesota good pho is hard to find and coming to visit Texas this weekend I was a little bit focused on coming to Ngon. This place is really a food booth within the Hong Kong Market Place which is like a Vietnamese mini-mall. I ordered the Pho special combo. It arrived with good service and a side of bean sprouts, lime, and thai basil. The broth is just soooooooooOO good. It's a little bit sweet and cleanly and distinctly savory. Like perfect. That probably comes across because the broth is also very clean and clear. It's not too oily or thick. An ideal texture and look. Overall it didn't disappoint. The meats were very tender and had a good taste. The noodles really soaked in the broth flavoring, too.! ...Nowadays when I try pho I actually accept that I'll be disappointed, but didn't have to worry about it today :) I would highly recommend beef broth pho from Ngon if you are looking for a refreshing and guaranteed GOOD bowl of pho!!! Love the pho there. It has plenty of flavor and plenty of meat! Also the bun bo hue is one of my favorites too. Much better than Duc Chuong. This is my go to place for bun bo hue. The only thing I wish they had was spicier sate. I usually bring my own. They give you plenty of meat and the portions are good. The bun rieu is also very delicious there too. Honestly all of their food there is pretty solid. I haven't had anything there that has disappointed me. Just a little joint located in the food court of Asia Times Square. Great place for Vietnamese hot noodle soups. Nothing special or fancy but the soups are definitely on point. My favorite is the #8 Mien Ga Dac Biet, which is chicken noodle soup featuring glass noodle, chicken, gizzards, shiitake mushrooms. Perfect if you're sick or if it's cold out. Don't pass by without trying the sugar cane juice! They have stacks of sugar canes and they squeeze them into a cold juice beverage. It's the most refreshing drink and especially satisfying on a hot day. They add a tiny bit of fresh orange juice to give it a kick and it makes all the difference! Yes- it is definitely not the most sanitized food court restaurant. Yes- there are the occasional mosquitoes. Yes- service is not 5 star worthy. Running out of pho? Hellllllo, ALL places run out of things sometimes. Be a little reasonable. However, my rating is not affected by these "downfalls" because it is a Vietnamese family-owned, cash only, limited English speaking, grandma in the back cooking type of restaurant. So... I mean.. I don't know why people come to these type of places expecting some top notch, Asian-fusion restaurant? This is LEGIT Vietnamese cuisine! Look around you and reassess your expectations before you knock a restaurant for what it simply is not. This is probably the highest rating I've given to such a ghetto place but it's really is my favorites place in Arlington to get three authentic Vietnamese dishes. 1. Bun Bo Hue 2. Bun thit nuong 3. Com thit nuong trung There are other popular places for bun bo hue but I prefer this one because it's not as sweet as the other restaurants. It's also spicier than that restaurant in Garland. The thit nuong here is tender and caramelized to perfection. It's also hella cheap. You can have a date here for less than $20- just make sure they're cool with going to a literal hole in the wall. The only thing that matters though is this place tastes like my Vietnamese best friend's house and his aunt's home made pho. Found within the Hong Kong supermarket food court. This whole plaza in which this supermarket is located seems like a relatively new Asian establishment, complete with tacky Asian decor. Not many booths to sit at but I wouldn't be surprised if they expanded come 2 months from now. Ordered spring rolls - $3 for 2 rolls - and it came with a deliciously flavored sweet peanut sauce. Was impressed by the size of the meal. Would be open to trying the pho and rice noodle dishes, granted the prices are a little on the higher side for a hole-in-the-wall place. But I would definitely consider this legit Vietnamese food and would come back if in the area. Had pho here on January 1st and the broth was decently flavorful. For a food court setting, it was actually better than some dine-in restaurants that I've tried. Customer service was typical of a lot of non-Americanized Vietnamese people -- no smiles or anything, more of a what-do-you-want stare from the cashier. I've ordered pho from this place about 3-4 other times in the past and I don't think the employees have ever smiled. Their Vietnamese coffee has a hint of chocolate, but I kind of like it that way.
