This wasn't a planned dinner. Just happened to be driving by & decided to go in. It was crowded since it's a small restaurant. So you may want to call ahead to make reservations. IMO, it was Ok but the "Famous" artichoke wasn't famous to me personally, incredibly way to hard, almost inedible. I did notice that a table next to mine must have had the same experience with it because they left it. Not sure if it was just an off night. Maybe I'll give it another try, not too sure though. I came here on a Friday night. The seating was far apart and we were seated right away. The staff was super friendly. They give complimentary bread which was phenominal, i could literally eat it forever. We started with a chicken parm crust pizza because we thought it was a cool concept to have chicken as crust, but it was sooo salty, i could only take one bite. There was also way too much breadcrumb and not enough chicken. I wish we had ordered a regular pizza because they make great bread so i assume their pizza would be great with a dough crust. The prices here don't align with the atmosphere. Half of the restaurant is a pizza counter and the seating area is very brightly lit, like a chain restaurant. I had chicken parm, which had a good sauce, but it was overcooked and as a result had a strange texture. My husband got a sausage dish which was okay but presentation was not ideal. The pizza looked good but I didn't try it. Service was efficient and friendly. I just don't know if the whole package is worth the five-star pricing. It was pasta night and I took advantage of the Spaghetti squash with bolognese so I could get my veggies on, I wasn't disappointed. My friend had the Carbonara but didn't know it had onions (she had to pick them out bc she despises onions) BUT she really liked it after that. Jae had the linguini with clams and the clams were abundant. My son had a slice of pepperoni pizza and the entire slice was covered in pepperoni. I love this place! I really wanted to like this place but was disappointed with the service and the representation that the servers brought to the table. My Aunt and I ordered a 12" Maiale pizzette and asked for half to be made as is and the other half to take off the sopressatta and prosciutto well that's not what we got we got a pie without sausage on half, which was what we wanted to keep in there and loaded with sopressatta and prosciutto. There was almost nobody in there and we couldn't get a hold of out waitress when we needed her. I don't like leaving bad reviews but hopefully they'll improve because of this review. I don't fault the restaurant, the pizza was tasty and fresh and it was probably messed up because of how the waitress put the order into the kitchen. I know it's hard to find good service today but I don't want to spend my hard earned money on bad service! I went to Sputino over a month ands half ago I am just getting my review in now tho. I came here last weekend with my fiancé and his parents to celebrate his mom's birthday. It was busy, as it's an Italian restaurant and it was a Friday in Lent! But that said, it was only about a 40 minute wait and we were happy to do that. We grabbed a drink at the bar about half way through the wait. I tried the pineapple infused vodka and had that with some club soda, it was super refreshing and very yummy! If you see they have that when you're there, definitely give it a try! Once we were seated the waitress was very friendly and patient with us as we took awhile to decide what we wanted. The complimentary garlic bread was incredibly delicious and I had a bunch of that! For an appetizer we ordered the fried zucchini! I like it because they looked like mini mozzarella sticks, not how fried zucchini usually looks, and it was very good topped with tomato sauce and some Parmesan! For entrees we all ordered something different! The birthday girl ordered a simple Margherita pizza which looked so great! My fiancé's father got the most adventurous meal out of all of us. He ordered the chicken crusted pizza, and he even topped it with peppers and onions! Our server told us it was the first time she's seen someone put toppings on it. He loved every second of it! My fiancé got the stuffed rigatoni. He said it was very good as well! When I looked at it though it looked like there was more ricotta cheese in the dish than there was pasta, but he didn't seem to mind! I ordered the spaghetti squash dish which came with eggplant, and I added some broccoli! I was surprised to see they gave you both halves of the spaghetti squash as your meal! It was definitely a lot and I had to bring half of it home, but it was very good! A great alternative for a low carb option if you're looking for one! Overall we had a great experience! We recently visited Spuntino & upon receiving our check we learned that a charge would be added to check if we paid by credit card. Nothing was posted & we were not told when making reservation, which is the time to be informed so you can bring cash if you choose. Their menu, both in restaurant or online doesn't mention it. This added charge seems to be happening more & more. The establishments are passing their charge on to customers but most of them have it posted. read more

Pretty decent! Some friends and I were trying to go to Del Fuego--(but whew what a wait for a Friday night). We went to Spuntino's right next door. We were seated after about 5 minutes in a comfy booth. Our waitress was nice, professional and attentive. There were a lot of families out for dinner. There is also a small bar area and a takeout area as well. I ordered a martini that was pretty tasty (not the best but did the job!) We decided to do our own family style dinner. We ordered the Spuntino pizza (I wasn't a fan but the dough was pretty good). We got the Spuntino pasta and the pesto pasta with chicken. The pastas were definitely good- I would recommend them. I believe a regular cheese slice is sometimes boring, but a way to tell if a pizza place is good.... their regular cheese pizza is FANTASTIC! I had not been here physically since this place became Spuntino. Had ordered a pizza through Grubhub a while back for my kids, but that didn't really warrant a review. Now, since I've visited, here goes. Came in on a Thursday evening and it was not crowded. The only bummer is that there were 5 of us, and it was a perfect night, perfect to sit outside. However, the hostess said that the max for any table outside was for four. With two kids in our group, I think they could have accommodated us, but I get it. Minor hiccup in my book. Their menu is massive, tons and tons of Italian staples, which is great. Their pizza is wood fired, and of course the kids ordered the pizza. I got the lemon chicken which was awesome, my wife got a pasta dish and so did another member of our party. The service was decent. We did have to ask for water a couple of times before we got it, but not a big deal. There is a bar area, but it is tiny. It looked to already be full with some regulars. I was sort of expecting a little more from the new Spuntino in St. James but it is just another entry in the overloaded Italian restaurant market that is Long Island. Menu is on the large size- a lot of things there so finding something for everyone should be doable. Prices are on the higher side for essentially the same thing you can get everywhere - so I have no compelling reason to come back here, to be honest. Bartender was nice, but this is mostly a bar to capture people from leaving while waiting for a seat - so it is not a warm an inviting place to pop by for a drink - it is all about adding to the bill. Everyone was nice enough and the food was ok- nothing so amazing that I couldn't believe it. Probably ok if you live in this area, but I would not make a trip to hit it. For one large and one small pizza!? We won't be having their brick oven pizza again. However, the place was packed, including lots of take out orders. Beautiful décor. Largely known for their pizza. We decided o try the lunch menu. We ordered soup and 1/2 sandwich. Eggplant was fried and chicken cutlet was definitely fried! Soup was a delight to the palate. Now remember Italian food is tough bc one area of this culture cooks sauce one way another completely different Mom knows..... Came here for dinner on a Monday. It's a causal dining spot, nice ambiance. Average service. We got the dinner special $17 for a salad, pasta (enough for two servings) and mini cannoli with coffee/tea. The amount of food you get is a pretty good deal, however the salad and cannoli are average. The best part of the meal was the bread basket. Make sure to ask for olive oil on the side. I got pesto sauce and my boyfriend got vodka sauce. The pesto was really good, the vodka appeared a little watery. Overall, very average dining experience. Not sure if we would come back since there's so many other good Italian places on Long Island. However, would not dissuade people from coming here. read more

To start with, the take out pizza is absolutely awesome. During the height of COVID they stuck with it, made the appropriate changes and they were able to keep people safe while staying open.
