As I begin writing this I've already been in line 30 minutes. Let me point out the Only reason I'm standing in line this long is,Press releases say this place is closing. I've just ordered and they tell me it's another 25-30 minute wait. I'll be back with a review of the food and more details then. I'm back after a total wait of one hour! Let me say,it was worth the wait. If they are still open when you read this,it's worth the trip. I've had this place book marked several years. Opened in 1951, it's the quintessential small town burger stand. I just forgot about it until the other day when I read they're closing. Don't cry,it's because of real estate values. It's no longer economically feasible to make small profits working hard no matter how good the burgers are. The burgers are really good. This place is slammed. I saw two large door dash orders go out and a lot of people that must have ordered online Coming and going. Finally my name was called and I took my piping hot brown paper sack to the hood of my truck. Looking into the sack,loose fry,pull it out,bite it, perfect. Unwrap burger,looks fantastic, bitting into it.... satisfaction! I'm a sucker for small towns but Anna is no more. In only five years the influx of migrants from other states have fueled exponential growth. It's happening everywhere and places like Spurlocks are the victims. Found this gem on help when looking for a local ice cream shop in Anna! Upon arriving and parking, you could tell this was an older business, but that it was gonna pump out some good old-fashioned food! And we were not wrong... We tried the cookies and cream malt, fried Oreos, as shown in the picture, and of course we had to get some fries. All came out piping hot, except for the malts, of course. My kid said it was one of the best malts they have ever had, which is a strong statement because they are ice cream connoisseur lol. Their fries were crinkle cut which just added to the old school feel the fried Oreos were cooked to perfection and exactly what I wanted There is a cute little indoor seating area next to the kitchen, but we didn't take advantage of it because we got our food to go. This is an old style drive in burger joint. You can park and order at the window or drive thru. Everything is served in a bag to-go. They have a small, separate building if you'd like to take your food and eat inside. The employees were very nice. I had a single cheese burger all the way, asked for my onions grilled instead of raw, with extra pickles, fries and a soda. I liked that the meat was thin b/c I'm not much of a meat eater. But get a double or triple if you'd want more meat. It reminded me of a burger grill I visited as a kid and nostalgia always makes things taste great. This was my first time here and we were pleasantly surprised. Very nostalgic decor, but not fancy. Food was made to order, came out hot and tasted yummy. My daughter loved getting her kids meal in a pink paper car and she was excited to bring it back home to play with. Eating in the dining room requires you to bus and clean up your own table which was different but we were fine with it. I look forward to a future visit to try the Funnel Fries and ice cream. Good and affordable! I really like the corn dog here, the batter is somewhat sweet and has an original taste. The sweet potato fries are yummy and the burgers are big. It does take a bit to get your food here and it is takeout only. This place seems busy for the most part so just keep in mind if you're in a rush! read more

This is an old time drive in restaurant. You get out of your car and walk up to the window to order. They call out your name when your order is ready. They at some point added a cute little building beside the restaurant with tables to sit at inside and eat. I'm glad they had someplace to go inside to eat. We all ordered burgers. I got a single and it was larger than I expected. The patty looked hand made. It was delicious. Very juicy and well seasoned with a soft buttery bun. We got one order of fries and all 3 of us had plenty to eat. The fries order was really big. I also got a chocolate ice cream cone. The ice cream was really good. It did take a little while to get our food but it was made fresh so worth waiting for. They were also busy that night. The prices were great. There is an eat-in area that's quaint. They didn't turn the air conditioner on until they opened, but the eat-in building did cool down reasonably. Pay cash unless you want to pay the credit card fee. The price was reasonable-especially since the hamburger patty was very, very thin. There is a drive through that needs better signage as one person parked there and then I saw and realized that indeed it is a drive through area. There is a sign to bus for yourself and table cleaner is provided. I believe once a month they host an antique car night. read more

At this point, I have tried this place 3 times. I had the frito pie, the corn dog, funnel cake fries, coyote burger, and onion rings. The strength of the 4 stars is mainly because of the corn dog and the funnel cake fries. The corn dog is something special. The funnel cake fries are a sweet pillowy treat. The frito pie is just ok. I actually ordered this again on a second visit because I was thinking there was a mistake made with chili. I was expecting a creamy chili as chili is known... I was advised the second time the minced ground meat is Texas chili. It has no creamy effect. I am a Texas native and I am use to a creamy chili. I make mine with beans and meat. So, by preference I do not like the "chili" used. It leaves the frito pie dry. The coyote pride burger was ok. The concept is cool. The grilled cheese has the bacon grilled into it. The cheese was rather dry. The burger was just ok as the meat is not as tender as I would have liked. The onion rings were good. They had a hint of sweet. So worth the wait! Staff was pleasant and welcoming from start to finish. Food was fresh, hot, and made to order. I ordered the Kids Steak Finger Meal which came with 3 Strips, Fries, Gravy, a Drink, and Fruit Snack in the CUTEST Paper Cadillac. All for under $5 bucks(I was going to order the Box Dinner but, 5 Strips, Fries, Gravy, Toast, Small Salad, and Drink was way too much food for me)! This place is terrific. The best malt I ever had. I usually don't finish a whole malt or milk shake but the chocolate malt from here was amazing. I couldn't put it down. It was thick and creamy, ice cold and so good.The wait is long that's the only thing and they are not open on Sunday and Monday. I didn't order the food here just went for the malt. The place reminds me of the old Dairy King back in New Mexico. Old fashioned and delicious. You park your car right in front of the place just like old times. Really worth the wait. Growing up in Lamesa, Spurlock's burgers and Super Dogs were a part of life that, unfortunately, most of us probably took for granted. Visits back to my hometown were never complete without a trip to the old drive-in for some of my favorite food anywhere. It was a sad day in Lamesa when Doug retired and sold the business. Not sad for Doug and his family (who certainly deserved to enjoy retirement), but sad for everyone who misses that great food. With all all of that in mind, it was welcome news to learn that Doug's daughter and son-in-law were running the drive-in in Anna. I live in Fort Worth now, but look forward to any chance to get to Anna so I can stop for a great meal (my regular is a cheeseburger along with a Super Dog, tater tots and a coke...but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu). It was quite cool when we were there so we didn't try the shakes or ice cream but I can't imagine it wouldn't be good.
