I had a great experience here! I was in the area and needed to do a few hours of work, so stopped in for a drink and a seat. SEATING I love the variety in seating here! Several 2-4 person tables, a couch area near the fireplace, a handful of barstools looking out the window, and a communal table. They even have a few fun swing chairs! AMBIANCE I'd say this is a pretty buzzy spot - at least it was when I came in. The folks meeting and chatting outnumbered the folks working remote/solo, but with headphones on it wasn't too loud. DRINKS I got a hot chai, and it was good! Only downside is I ordered for here and they served in compostable cup - I prefer when ceramic / reusable mugs are given for in-store drinkers. FOOD I didn't order food, but saw several people getting lunch here and looked good. AMENITIES There's a bathroom attached within the building, and a water station. Such an adorable lil coffee shop! Gorgeous white brick walls with tall open ceilings. It's got the north loop vintage but upscale charm to it. You can even get cozy by the fireplace and relax on the couches. They serve a light breakfast and lunch but we only tried the drinks. I was super pumped to try their Vietnamese coffee but was pretty disappointed in it. I should've asked what they put in it because it didn't taste like it had condensed milk in it. They also added a nutmeg/cinnamon sprinkle on top that is not what a Vietnamese coffee is. My sister tried their mango smoothie and it was just okay. I can't remember what the smoothie was called and I can't find any updated menus on their site anywhere. North loop is only metered street parking so it can be a b**ch trying to find parking. There seemed to be a decent amount of people inside working on their computers. Overall this seems like a cute place to relax in and get something small. read more

This was a nice coffee shop with food available and an abundance of open tables. It's a nice gathering spot to hang for a bit especially with the rain. Coming from the Bay Area, I'm not sure if I just have higher expectations on food but overall, I was not impressed. Starting with the coffee. I don't think the viet coffee was anything special but it wasn't terrible. But I may also have high standards. I expected a stronger caffeine dose but it wasn't pretty mild. The grilled cheese itself was good but the tomato soup was extremely sweet. If you used it as a dipping sauce, it's ok but it's not something you can have on the side alone. I feel like if you searched up the Disney grilled cheese and made it at home, it would definitely taste better than this. But again, it was alright. The tomato soup is a different story. Really quite a pleasant coffee shop. Most memorable for me is the service. The crew behind the counter are really fun and nice. Also the environment is cool, with sort of a "retro amusement" theme and plenty of comfortable seating. I got a Vietnamese cold brew that I thought tasted great. I have also come in for lunch and I got a club sandwich that was really tasty as well (although kinda messy with the sauce). It came with tater tots that I didn't like as much. And I got a hot banana date latte that was okay. They are open every day until 6pm and they serve food, including breakfast food, all day, so there is definitely enough reason for me to return for food, coffee, and hangouts. Also, I want to note that I love this Minneapolis coffee shop culture. I think the interior of a lot of coffee shops here are unequivocally the best in the US. I ordered a Matcha Latte and I wasn't very impressed with it. The latte seemed a bit watered down although you could definitely taste the quality of the matcha powder. Such a cute fair themed coffee shop. I love that they have a sidewalk patio area. I went on a Sunday afternoon & it was pretty busy. It was a bit loud as well. They had pretty decent offerings for drinks and food. We ended up just getting spring seasonal drinks. I got the Tropical matcha lemonade and my mom got the Ginger honey latte (iced). Both drinks were very good. Staff were friendly and drinks came out daily fast considering how busy it was. Personally parking in the Northloop is extremely hard unless you get lucky catch someone leaving a spot but it's for sure worth getting out and checking out the businesses in the area. I love this place! I used to go here multiple times a week to work remotely, because the interior feels so warm in the winter with the large windows with sun shining in. Now that I live further away I come here every Saturday morning on my morning walk. They let my dog come in while ordering (but dogs aren't allowed for an extended time), which I really appreciate. Their cold brew and pour over coffee are amazing, and I really appreciate that they offer a free coffee with purchase of a bag of beans. I absolutely love Fairgrounds! They have a really great selection of drinks (matcha, chai, coffee, even kombucha on tap) for decent prices. They also have a fun rotating menu depending on the season. The food is really great - I always get the breakfast bowl for a gluten free option. They also have tons of snacks for purchase. The staff are always friendly and the service is very quick. This is also a great place to work remote! The WiFi is fast, there's tons of tables and seating, plus lots of outlets. Fairgrounds is such a unique coffee place! Their menu is so fun, and it's MASSIVE! So many options! I won a free gift card on their Instagram (highly recommend giving them a follow!) and used it on their Shaken Mint Mocha Matcha and a lemon poppyseed muffin. Both were great! My advice is if you like your drinks sweet, tell them that! Their drinks, to me, lean on the less sweet side. The muffin was very fresh and moist. I've tried other things on their breakfast menu like breakfast tacos - SO Good. Their food is much better than your average coffee shop. The ambiance in the shop is adorable and fun! I LOVE Fairgrounds!! It's my favorite coffee spot in the North Loop. The ambience is incredible. I love the natural light, the antique fairground decorations, and the pop of natural elements. It's so peaceful. The service is always spectacular. The workers are kind, personable, and quick at getting our food and drinks out. When the manager is working, he always goes above and beyond to make sure his customers feel welcomed. This coffee shop always attracts amazing customers as well. I have participated in many different discussions while waiting in line or for drinks with other customers, which adds onto the atmosphere! Lastly (but not least), the food and drinks are INCREDIBLE! I always struggle to pick out what I want to order because it's always so delicious. The Vietnamese cold brew is my go to beverage, which is so unique and tasty. I've had a few different foods there (yogurt parfait with matcha honey, sunbutter sandwich, and eggplant breakfast meal) and have been incredibly impressed with all of them. I met up with a few friends at Fairgrounds around lunchtime, and I can't believe I haven't been here before! The location is great, right in North Loop next to Stilheart and Lululemon - it's the perfect city hangout spot. The inside is cheerful and eclectic while still feeling on the trendier side. There was definitely a table or two of people taking Instagram pictures. Only downside is I wish this location was bigger since it's so popular! There's a good amount of seating, but definitely not enough for a busy day or a WFH spot. We lucked out finding a table since a member of our party got there earlier than we did. One thing I love about this place is that they have a full food menu, making it a great spot for a meal too. I had already eaten, but my friends got a breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich and grilled cheese + tomato soup. They all loved their food, and I tried a bite of tomato soup and it was some of the best I'd had in a long time! From what I understand, their food is also very 'clean', making it a great option. Their coffee/drink menu is insane! You can really get anything you could ever dream of here. I loved that they had all different kinds of coffee/drinks on top - and they had a long list of milks and flavorings to add. As someone who likes Sugar Free flavorings, they had 3 different flavors which was a pleasant surprise since normally all I can get is Vanilla. I ordered a nitro cold brew with almond milk and SF hazelnut syrup. The barista made my drink quickly in front of me so there was no wait. Price came out to be $7 even without tip. Not great, but also on par with any other small coffee shop. This drink was absolutely delicious! I'm someone that likes a lot of milk in my coffee, so seeing the dark color got me scared but it was amazing! Sweet, creamy and cooling. It was also packed with caffeine, so if you need a pick me up this is it. I will definitely be back to try some more of their menu! read more

#16 in my TWIN CITIES COFFEE SHOP SERIES Probably my favorite aesthetic/ interior of all the coffee shops I have been to so far in the Twin Cities! It's a cool mix of rustic, industrial, and retro. They have huge windows which provide fantastic lighting, eclectic decor, and an array of cute plants and hanging lights. Definitely a great spot to work, catch up with friends, or go on a date! They have an array of breakfast/lunch items from sandwiches to açaí bowls to salads. I decided to get the scrambled egg and cheese sammy ($6) and it was sooo good! The sauce they put it in brings it over the edge. Plus I thought it was priced well! For caffeinated drinks they have all the classic espresso and tea drinks, but they also have a huge list of custom items. I decided to get the flower power milk tea ($6.50) since I have a huge fan of matcha. And their matcha is delicious! You can taste that it is sourced well because it is super earthy. I am definitely coming back to try some of their other drinks... perhaps I'll get a flight next time ;) In addition to their delicious food & drinks, I have to add that I love that they have unisex/ all gender bathrooms. The best thing about Fairgrounds is certainly the space itself. Everything about it is picture worthy from the Chemex lights to the swings! It's a really fun spot and is a great place to take out of town guests. It's also a great spot to grab a cup of coffee to explore the rest of the North Loop shops! I love that they have a huge breakfast menu at Fairgrounds. I'm a person who needs more than just a cup of coffee in the morning! I ordered the Seoul Bowl which comes with brown rice, wilted kale, shaved zucchini, kimchi, fried egg and sesame seeds drizzled with sriracha. Sadly it's been discontinued since but there's plenty of other warm breakfast options. The coffee is good. I went with the iced maple cinnamon latte. Normally this is a matcha latte, but I replaced it with espresso instead, so basically an iced maple cinnamon latte with oat milk. It was delicious! There's lots of seating available and free wifi so easy to get your work done too. They also have a variety of food items and pastries available. Don't forget to try out their swing chairs! This is one of my go-to spots for coffee in the area, mainly because of the large number of nitro and cold brews tap. They also have a lot of seating locations in a large open indoor space with high ceilings and large windows. I have also had espresso here as well and it is good, but being able to choose from a couple of medium or dark roast cold brews on tap, that is really cool. Also, they are pretty good about knocking out the coffee orders pretty quickly, which is good if you are on the move, getting things done and you need the caffeine boost. They do sell some pastries as well, but the power move is to get your coffee here and then go over to Bellecour for pastries. read more
