I used to really like square pizza. However, the last few times we've gone in this place has gone downhill. The pizza isn't as thick or saucy like it was when they first opened. Also the toppings weren't as fresh as they were when this place first opened. I'm still giving them two stars but that's only because they are not as good as they used to be. read more

Today I didn't want to drive anywhere for lunch, so I decided to try a place on the square . I asked some co-workers about Square Pizza and they raved on and on about how good it was. So I take a short walk over to see if they live up to the hype. The first thing I noticed was the place was empty. It may have been like one table of people eating. I saw they served slices for lunch, so I got a slice of pepperoni. This was a horrible slice of pizza. It wasn't hot. The cheese was solidified and there was no flavor. Talk about a waste of $4.29 (plus tax) lol. I think they need to go back to the drawing board when it comes to slices. They need to figure out a better way to keep them hot and fresh. It seems like the made to order pizzas are getting great reviews so I may give them another shot one day. It won't be anytime soon though. Who serves cold slices of pizza? That was just ridiculous. When I got back to work my co-workers were waiting to see how I like it. They were so bummed that it wasn't good. They still insisted that it's really great pizza. We drive 35 miles to come to Square Pizza every time we get the urge for pizza. It is simply the best pizza you will ever have.

This place was terrible. We walked in and we ordered a small cheese pizza and some wings. They handed us our drinks and we didn't think much of it, and then we sat down. Fast forward 20 minutes later and we still don't have our food. But then soon one of the workers comes out and gives us the wrong thing! We tell him it isn't ours and he goes back in to the kitchen. Another ten minutes go by, we FINALLY get our food, but all we got was our pizza. So we ask were the wings out and then they said they forgot to put it in the oven. We pay for the pizza, grab it and then storm out of there. Don't plan to come back anytime soon read more

One of the best pizza places ever. Cheese bread very good. Nice decor. Now they have added on and have large party room/game room connecting. Probably one of the best pizza areas in kc area. This is my favorite pizza place. There is just something about having pine nuts on the pizza. I recommend vegetable or Hawaiian style. Square pizza isn't for everyone and although I love it, I can only handle eating it once in a while. I prefer the carry out to eating in. read more

Anytime we get close to the Independence Square, my daughter reminds me that we need to stop at Square Pizza. The pepperoni is so good. The sauce isn't too spicy, nor bland- perfect! The crust is to die for....(yea, I just typed that). We ordered a Chicken Alfredo pie To-Go for my father who is elderly. That man still raves about the "take out" pizza we brought him. Wow! We ordered their Mexican Pizza and it was SO good. Their crust reminds me of the flavor of my grandma's home-made bread, so it was great. We ordered Pepperoni Pizza for the kids and they really liked it, especially that the pepperoni was crispy and not limp. The restaurant was very clean, which is a biggy to me. The people working there were very friendly and helpful. I think the Independence Square is really a charming area. Many cities with struggling downtowns could take a lesson from how Independence has worked to make their Square so inviting. All that to say, we will definitely be eating there again! read more

Well first their website says join us on Sunday's for the game, they didn't have it on... They said There isn't any batteries in the remote? Ok , then when we showed up we reserved the room a month ago and there was already a party in the room... Also we ordered a bucket of beer .. 40 min later they told us they were out of the kind of beer we asked for, so we ordered another after waiting 40 min ... And then they were out of that beer?? Alrighty then , we ordered a 12" pizza half pepperoni and half island ... We received our pizza a half was cheese and half was the island ,, I didn't even bother complaining about it, the guy at the register was very apologetic and very sweet, Dominique I felt bad for him ... Pizza was awesome! We decided to give this a try after searching for the best pizza in Independence, Mo. Probably within my top 8 pizza places in Missouri. Pizza is in a square pan, hence the name. It was a pain to get out but well worth it. You order at the counter and seat yourself, grab your own drinks and enjoy fine pizza in a old downtown atmosphere. Went in a few days ago and was treated horribly. After shelling out over 30 dollars for two medium pizzas they were not good. After getting 1/4 of the way into each pizza we found that some pieces were uncooked. They were still soft and doughy and not all of the cheese was melted. After waiting for ten minutes for an employee to surface we were told that they would not make the pizzas again for us, or refund any money. Even though he could see how uncooked they both were. The term he used was "we were out of luck" because a few pieces weren't in the pan. I'm not an expert but I do not think that's how you treat customers. read more

Square Pizza had 4 stars average rating on yelp and good reviews on google, so my expectations were fairly high. I was extremely disappointed. I ordered the classic Italian and received a pizza minus a topping (mushrooms), without sauce and over baked. The cheese was dark brown and the crust was black in places. The toppings were nondescript including run of the mill sausage and pepperoni used by every other major pizza chain. I would comment on other toppings but they were missing.
