For years, I have purchased SquareTrade protection plans for my new appliances and electronics. I have seldomly had to use them. However, recently, my Bosch dishwasher, which I purchased slightly over one year ago through Home Depot, stopped working. I could not get its power to turn on, and the dishwasher made no lights or sounds. I turned off the circuit breaker multiple times and checked the door latch, electrical cord, buttons, etcetera. I decided to then use my 3-year SquareTrade warranty. I searched my emails for the SquareTrade warranty information, and it told me to fill out a form on SquareTrade's website, so I did. Then it told me to call a phone number, so I did. Then it told me to start a chat on my cell phone, so I did. I am not sure why it had me go through three forms of communication rather than just one... The employee who chatted with me needed me to repeat the information that I had already provided on the website and phone call, so I did. Then they told me to turn off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. (A Bosch manual earlier had told me to turn off the circuit breaker for 2 minutes.) Since then, I have spoken with several SquareTrade associates, all of whom stated they understood my frustration and would pass the message along or escalate the issue to a specialist. However, despite these assurances, no one has contacted me, followed up, or provided any meaningful resolution. Since then, I have been without a working refrigerator for several days. I later spoke with another associate named Tiffany, who advised that we needed to contact Samsung. A supervisor then forwarded us to Samsung, but Samsung stated that we would need to pay out-of-pocket and contact Costco instead. After relaying this information back to Tiffany, we explained that the refrigerator is covered under a five-year warranty. Tiffany attempted to contact SquareTrade or Samsung but stated they were closed and advised us to call back the following day. When we called again, we continued to receive conflicting information. Each company directed us to contact another, creating an endless cycle of referrals between SquareTrade, Samsung, and Costco. We have repeatedly been told to pay out-of-pocket despite having an active five-year warranty. We have already provided receipts, photos, and supporting information, yet no meaningful assistance has been given. SquareTrade has been unprofessional, unhelpful, and unwilling to properly address this claim. The intake associates appear unwilling to recreate or escalate a repair ticket despite repeated requests and confirmation that troubleshooting has already been completed. We have now been without a refrigerator for over 10 days, which has created significant inconvenience and hardship. I am requesting immediate escalation of this complaint and expedited resolution of this warranty claim. A repair appointment or replacement should be arranged immediately under the terms of the five-year warranty coverage. She advised me to pay for my own technician and seek reimbursement instead of creating a repair ticket or forwarding the case to a specialist. 05/01/26: Spoke with Renee, who was informed of the issue and complaint and stated it had been forwarded and escalated. 05/04/26 (6:47 PM): Spoke with Jobanny, who again stated I should pay out-of-pocket despite the active five-year warranty. He claimed to be contacting Samsung, despite them being closed at that time. He did not review the case notes and referenced a Home Depot warranty, which is unrelated to my claim. 05/04/26: Spoke with Ann, who stated there were two options: (1) a technician would be sent out, or (2) reimbursement for the refrigerator and spoiled food. I only received an email regarding food reimbursement, which I cannot fully document with photos due to the delay exceeding 10 days. 05/04/26: Called back and spoke with Oshna again. She laughed and stated she remembered me, then said she would review the notes and send an email regarding food reimbursement. She stated the email would be sent between 8:51-8:58 PM; however, no email was sent, and no assistance was provided. read more

I filed a claim for a washing machine that is not powering on 8/25 after trouble shooting with an "appliance specialist". Parts ordered and appt scheduled for three days later. Technician came out and was unable to complete the repairs claimed another part was needed. I called SquareTrade and was approved to hire my own repair tech who was able to get me in the following Monday. The part that the original tech claimed was damaged was actually working. I contacted squaretrade and was told via chat and on the phone that I had an allowance of $1550 for repairs. They advised to proceed with repairs totaling $1225. Parts were ordered and I called again to confirm that repairs would be covered this time I was told that my allowance for repairs was actually $775 they requested that I send a written estimate so they could proceed with reimbursement. Estimate was sent 9/2 I was told I would have a response in one business day, by this point we were six business days into the claim and no closer to a resolution. I submitted the requested estimate along with a screenshot of a comparable washing machine priced at $999. I followed up with them the next day and was again asked for the same information I explained that it was submitted the day prior and I was following up for a resolution. The rep I spoke to said he would "escalate" my concerns (at that point they claimed to have escalated two other times). I followed up again 9/4 with still no resolution the script they read is that everything will be completed in one business day we are now eight business days into this claim and I still have no resolution. I was informed I would receive an email at close of business it is not way past close of business with still no email. SquareTrade is a complete and utter scam. I have been trying to help a family get reimbursed for an oven repair since April and it is now July 30th. Their customer support lies to you on the phone claiming that they are escalating your case, but then will simply email you requesting the same information that you already provided. In our case they are requesting an alternate phone #, alternate address, and alternate email address for the repair shop THAT THEY RECOMMEDED TO US! The repair shop only has one physical location, one email, and one phone number. They lied to me and said that they were not able to get in contact with the repair company because the invoices we have are not readable. Then their supervisors claim that they can't get in contact with the verification team. You have to constantly wait 24 hours for a response because the way their system operates is designed to give you the run around. And then they will simply request the same information that you already provided. Their supervisors cannot explain what is wrong with the information we provide only that their verification team says something is wrong. Have they tried calling the phone number we provide? I don't know because the supervisor also does not know. They are illegally denying our insurance claim. Here's what I do know, I will be filing a complaint with the California Department of Consumer Affairs and BBB. 7/31 edit: If it is sent to Trust and Safety Team then why are we getting lied to on the phone and in emails asking for alternate phone #'s and physical address? I purchased a LG OLED TV in 2021 and Costco included an additional 3 year protection with Allstate for free. A few days ago, the remote control started to malfunction and I contacted them but my experience was very poor. I tried filing my claim through the Allstate/Square trade website but after entering my Costco membership and last name it wasn't able to find my plan, so I had to call them. At first I explained to the representative that my TV remote control wasn't working and he had me follow some standard unhelpful troubleshooting steps unrelated to my issue as if he was reading them from a book. Then, he tried to convince me not to use my insurance for my remote control should the TV break in the near future and I need it because the amount would be deducted for this claim. He also mentioned that the max they would cover would be $1000 even though my TV cost was $1300 so I didn't understand that because I was under the impression the policy would cover the full amount of the TV. Then, after some useless troubleshooting, he told me I should buy a remote (without helping with any links or recommendations) and send the receipt for reimbursement but at the same time I received a confusing email telling me that Allstate would be shipping me the item, so I had to call them back to clarify. Once I purchased the item and emailed the receipt, I never received any kind of acknowledgement so I'm not even sure if they received it. I bought a refurbished golf club (Driver) from eBay with a protection plan as the item was refurbished. The golf club was used normally and I'll be the back of it blew out when I hit a golf ball at range prior to a round. I called Square trade and filed the claim. A day later it was approved for repair, but was deemed not repairable as suspected. Then I was approved for reimbursement. Following me signing the affidavit the case was suddenly dropped. Nothing changed in the pictures I sent or the story. This speaks to the complete lack of integrity and games that this company plays. They make up false claims as to not payout, and have offered us absolutely no assistance. Do NOT use this company!!! Their customer service is a nightmare! The call center is located in Pakistan and you can't even understand them. I have been trying to get my son's phone repaired for the past week under the protection plan we purchased four years ago. We have never filed a claim for his phone and yet, I have spent hours upon hours for the last week trying to get him a new phone because the repair shop said it is not fixable. They have given me inaccurate information multiple times and it takes an act of God to get passed the chat bot and speak to a human. I DO NOT recommend them!!! It's also a little difficult to provide the photos they are requesting for a scratched lens which is fully covered but not being paid out on. I made the mistake of buying a Squaretrade extended warranty from Costco. When the LED lamp in my refrigerator died I called Squaretrade to submit a claim. At first it was a straight forward process of submitting a description of the problem, providing serial number and pictures. So far so good. Then I had to speak to a "specialist" more than once. The call center appears to be in India and some of the agents barely speak English. Squaretrade scheduled an appointment for 8:00 AM the following week. They neglected to tell me it was 8:00 AM PST (I live on the East coast). The repair person was from a construction company 90 minutes away from my home. How a person from a construction company is qualified to perform a repair on a major appliance is beyond me. Anyway, he never showed up so I ended up performing the repair myself. The only positive thing about this experience is Squaretrade did send the required part and it was OEM, not a cheap knockoff. After posted my review, I received a response from AllState/SquareTrade, saying that they would like to address my concerns about the poor service I received. So I did and they sent me a refund. But here is where it gets interesting. They subtracted a few dollars from what I had paid for the item. When I asked why, they said because some time had passed since I purchased the item. This is very interesting because their contract says they will refund the amount that I had paid for the item, regardless of when I purchased the item. After all, I paid for the duration of the warranty. So. not only I had paid for the warranty, I got short-changed in the refund. I had previously dealt with Asurion, which is used by Amazon, and they refunded me the exact amount that I had paid for the item a few years ago. So, the conclusion is that AllState/SquareTrade is finding all kinds of ways to take as much as they can. That explains their 1.5 stars rating of over 700 reviews. read more

I had to pay a $49 deductible to be told to take it to a local approved repair shop. I tried 3 shops that were all permanently closed while listed as open. Then they told me to return the device and they would issue me a check for $199 to buy a new phone. I went ahead and purchased a new phone from Amazon, returned the old phone on July 1st, and waited. July 10th they confirmed it had been received but that they had not sent a check yet due to a "computer glitch." Then on July 22nd they confirmed a check had been sent, but couldn't prove it with a tracking number or confirmation email, etc. but PROMISED it would arrive by the 23rd. Of course it didn't. It is July 28th and there is no check in sight, the money is spent, and I am being redirected to a new team so they can "escalate my concerns." I saw so many positive 5 star reviews on this company on Google reviews, especially from a user Google reviews who claimed they replaced his camera that got broken. I'm writing my review here and on Google! Well unfortunately, I wish I could say that they helped me with my broken TV just as much as they helped that user with his broken camera, but that's actually far from the truth! Long story short, my mother bought a TCL smart TV from Target in December 2023, but she passed away unexpectedly last year so the TV was passed on to me. There was an accident where I needed to move my TV stand to clean behind it and the TV lost the balance and fell. Although I tried to break the fall, but was only able to catch the left side, while the bottom right side hit my floor. Now when I turn my TV on, there's a small broken screen crack on the bottom right where the impact happened and it causes a black strip all along the right side. First I called TCL and explained everything, to no avail. They kept telling me that their warranty is usually only good for a year and it's voided if accidents happen(which LITERALLY defeats the purpose of a warranty then). Since I told them my mom bought the TV from Target, they then told me to call them to see if my mom bought a protection plan when she purchased. I did so, and they confirmed my mom bought the Allstate protection plan with the TV in December 2023 that was good for 3 years(it's currently October 2025 as I write this as this just happened). With the order number, they had me call Allstate to make a claim. But only for them to tell me that "Yes, the TV is still covered, but we don't cover physical damage from accidents"(literally almost saying the same thing as TCL, the manufactuer said), which I also told them(again) that, that was the whole purpose of the warranty plan; to cover ANYTHING that happens to a device! Allstate then tried to offer me a refund of the cost of the plan (to which my mother only paid not even $50 for it along with the TV), which I declined and told them that if you want to send a payment, then you need to send me $200-$300(that's the cost range of the exact same TV from Target my mom bought), enough for a new TV because with me being low income and the cost of TVs these days, $50 ain't gonna cut it! I told them that I need either that OR you send someone over and look at my TV and repair the small crack on the screen OR send me a replacement; one of the three options! They were using the excuse, "Our terms and conditions does not cover accidents". I kept insisting that I really need one of the three options done for my TV that WE PAID YOU to cover! They then told me that they were "going to escalate this claim" to a higher department and they should get back to me via email soon! So if they do, and they provide one of the three options I need for my COVERED TV, then I will update this review, but even if so, I don't think I would trust buying any of Allstate's "protection plans" anymore as they seem to be just a waste of money as they do NOTHING and deny claims if something happens to your device(or at least they seem to just pick and choose who to help and not to help), even if it's still "covered"! I have also filed a complaint with the BBB against them, and I'm going to keep the complaint open until they provide one of the three solutions needed! I'm honestly surprised that they even have an A+ rating on there; well I do hope that the longer my complaint stays open, the lower their rating will drop and have their reputation ruined because of picking and choosing between what customers to file a claim and deny a claim against! If you're worried when first purchasing, then just simply return or exchange to the retailer if the item is defective upon purchase. I currently work in retail and I've rung up hundreds of SquareTrade warranties since 2017. The people who own the house where I rent a room are having trouble with their TV that they bought in 2021. It's a Sony "Professional" model, sold by Costco. Costco would not help, unlike the miracle returns of a 21 year old mattress set or some such. The customers called SquareTrade on July 19, 2024. Some parts were ordered and sent to the house. The technician, from another company, was supposed to be at the house on July 29,2024. He arrived on August 1, 2024. Replacing the three parts did not help. He input his report and his company sent the report to SquareTrade. The customers called SquareTrade after the technician left the house. They were told that they would receive a call the next day. They did not. Having a 77 year old and an 81 year old jump through hoops just so that they can watch TV is ridiculous. They called SquareTrade again and got "One more business day" to receive an answer. I understand (how many times does the script say that?) that the business is there to make money. How can you make money if the people who buy the warranty aren't even close to being satisfied? They won't buy another warranty, will they? read more

I have had 2 separate repairs on this LG dryer through SquareTrade . It's acting up again. I called SquareTrade and spoke to an agent Monus and then a supervisor Ricardo. They state the warranty has expired it's only 2 months. And the simple fact this will be the 3rd repair and it's not working now we are without a dryer(attached a video) of what it's doing. It also beeps and won't stop. Have to keep unplugging it to get it to stop. We had LG back in 2006 lasted a long time. Then went to Samsung it was junk. Now the LG is acting up. Pretty disappointed honestly. Can you please make an exception since this is the 3rd issue with it and warranty expired within last 2 months? Please expedite this asap as we have no way to dry our clothes. read more

I purchased a 4 years Allstate protection plan for our Samsung washing machine, after filing a claim with Allstate they requested an audio and photos of the problem which I did send. after several phone calls they send a technician which he told me that they have to order a part and it will take 4-5 days and never heard back from them tell I found out that the claim is closed and I was told that nothing wrong with our washing machine. I learned not to buy extended warranty from Allstate. read more
