Unfortunately I do not usually leave reviews but I bought a camera through Walmart.com and got a warranty through squaretrade. Now it's been over a year so I can't go through Walmart so I was excited to hopefully use my warranty and get the camera replaced. They literally refuse to replace the camera and the refund amount that they are offering is less than what I paid for it(not even including taxes, fees and their protection plan). Also, the replacement options are knockoff cameras that are not the same price I paid for the original. Please do not get a warranty through them. It is a waste of money and you would be better off saving the money. read more

I would choose less but you cannot choose less. I purchased a fridge at NFM. We purchased the 5 year extended warrenty on the fridge. Not even a full two years later, the fridge stopped working. I called in my claim on tuesday morning. I was given a friday afternoon appointment. Long story short. Appliance repairman never showed and we received a text at 8:15 pm on Friday night, the repairman would not be showing up. I called first thing saturday morning and told I have to wait until Monday to reschedule the repair appointment. I had called the repair company which is not Square but a subcontractor called Supreme Appliance Repair. They book 20 appointments a day for the repairmen. Don't buy the contract unless you like fighting and not getting what you pay for. read more

The screw to the handle on my freezer door came out, scratching the freezer door. Also, the gasket on the right door of the refrigerator was ripped and needed replacing. I sent an itemized claim and pictures. The claim was approved, but they sent a freezer door handle. That's all! After communicating the problem I get an email saying they are sending gaskets to the freezer door. WRONG!! Is anyone paying attention out there?!? The absolute worst customer service! UPDATE AS OF MARCH 19 On March 13, I received an email saying I need to upload more pictures and videos showing the problem. I did as requested. On Monday, March 16 I received an email saying I have an appointment with a technician on Monday, March 23 and that I will have parts shipped to me. There is no indication how many parts and when they will arrive. Later that day I received another email saying the parts will be delayed and they will send me a separate email to track the parts. The email goes on to say it is my responsibility to track the parts and reschedule my appointment directly with the tech. REALLY? After their technician broke my dishwasher, that's the best you can do. Today I received two boxes of parts. Mind you, I still don't know how many I'm supposed to receive. I call into customer service and they tell me I should expect 3 parts. We confirm that I have 2 out of the 3. Customer service cannot give me an estimate of when I can expect the third part. I ask for an escalation to the "Parts Team." Why I have to request an escalation at this point is beyond me. Remember I filed a claim on March 3. My account should be one big red flag when I call in. The lack of urgency and communication is laughable at this point. If you are ever offered a warranty that is supported by Squaretrade, DO NOT buy it. read more

I purchased a protection plan with this company and they gave me two options too choice from for my cordless vacuum cleaner. Without realizing the two options they provided were for the newer model. I called them back explaining that the replacement they had sent me was for the newer model and I just want a replacement for the model I had purchased. I told them that the model sent me was not compatible with my model and I could not use it. I asked them if I could just sent the item back and if I could recieve the item that was compatible with the model I purchased my protection plan on. They simply said no and in not so many words I should had known that the two options were for a different model. Needless to say I wasted my money on purchasing this protection plan. I purchased a 5-year Allstate Protection Plan for two sofas, thinking I was protecting my investment. Nearly four years later, both sofas developed major fabric tears and seam separations -- exactly the type of damage this plan claims to cover. I filed a claim with full documentation, including photos and my original receipt. After being bounced between chat agents and spending over an hour trying to get help, I was told the issue wouldn't be covered. No real explanation, just a scripted response. Even after following all instructions and confirming that the issue was recent and legitimate, the claim was still denied. Allstate markets this plan as peace of mind -- but in reality, they make it as difficult as possible to get any real support. UPDATE ON 08/01/2025: To clarify the facts: the damage to my sofa occurred on July 12, 2025, and I submitted my claim on July 30, 2025 -- well within the 30-day timeframe required by the protection plan. Unfortunately, due to an autofill error in my browser, the claim form was submitted with the date December 31, 2024 -- a date that clearly makes no sense in context. It was not intentional and obviously not something any customer would knowingly enter. I recognized the mistake immediately and contacted support. The chat agent confirmed the error, added notes to my file, and asked me to call the claims team, which I did. I refiled the claim with the correct date and provided all necessary documentation, including photos. Despite this, the claim was denied as if none of those corrections or internal notes were ever reviewed. Eventually, I was contacted and offered a small refund as compensation. I accepted the refund because I was out of options, but I want to be clear: this resolution does not reflect a fair or customer-focused process. The claim should have been honored based on the facts, not dismissed over a technicality caused by a form field error. This experience was frustrating and disappointing. Just say no as they will tell you the same thing. And whatever you do, if you got duped into purchasing a plan from them. ANY problem with your item you may have. Just make sure you call the same day. Even if it's NOT BROKEN or they will deny your claim in a heartbeat if you say anything about it after 30 days. Again, even if its: NOT BROKEN. REPORT IT ASAP. My story: We purchased two chairs. One had a problem and I reported it within days of it happening. But I made the mistake of saying there was a clicking noise a few months before in a different part of the chair that I would like them to look at. That clicking noise had nothing to do with what I was claiming but you could hear the joy in their response. You are denied for ever more. Your 30-day window was violated. What? So, me saying there is also a separate clicking noise I would like to have looked at voided my entire warranty on that chair? YUP! Fine. As I had to start using the other chair a few DAYS before, it had started a clicking noise, so I wanted to report that well within the 30-day period. They said, Nope. You can't report it. I was told I needed to wait, for what??? 31 days maybe. Bet they would love that. Only good news I have is I was able to cancel the plan ASAP and get back a few dollars from this 329.00 disaster of a warranty. Update: You didn't even read my review did you. I knew you were going to say something about 30 days. But if you had read my review. Then you would know that my problem had ZERO to do with the clicking noise. But you go ahead and spread your "we would like to help" you know what. Never again will I be duped into purchasing your product and will tell everyone to run for the hills if they hear your name behind a warranty plan. I've also reported this to the BBB as well as NFM. My item is irreparable because after getting a stain kit, that didn't work and a technician who could not remove the stain, the next step is reimbursement for the price of the item. Service is non existent. They replaced one Tv with one that was broken and DOA. For the past 4 weeks I have spoken with numerous agents, supervisors, and supposedly a team manager. They still have not picked up or replaced the broken replacement. Now I can't even get a supervisor on the phone. They now tell me to call back. We purchased a Bosch dishwasher from Home Depot with a 5-year Allstate (SquareTrade) protection plan. When it broke down in June 2025, we filed a claim. The technician came out and said it needed a new motherboard. Simple enough, right? Wrong. They sent unprogrammed parts -- not once, but multiple times -- and after three failed service attempts, we were supposed to qualify for a replacement under their own No Lemon Policy. Instead of honoring that, they denied the claim after the third visit, citing rodent droppings found weeks after the initial issue -- even though nothing was mentioned in the first two visits and the failure had nothing to do with pests. We've been without a working dishwasher for more than six weeks. We submitted a detailed appeal, followed up via email and chat, and got no real response. It's clear they're looking for any excuse not to pay out. This has been a total waste of money and time. We've filed formal complaints with the BBB, California Department of Insurance, and Consumer Affairs. Take our advice -- don't trust SquareTrade or Allstate Protection Plans to protect your purchase. Square trade paid for parts and labor. Last service call tech said refrigerator could not be repaired. Square trade paid for the 3 service calls but would not the cost of the refrigerator. Moving forward, while i was visiting my parent on Valentine's Day, she asked me to take a look at her chair. I noticed a discrepancy with the finish. I called Wayfair on 2/15/2025 and was advised to contact SquareTrade extended warranty to file a claim. I did so online - My claim was immediately denied. I called and spoke with Mia thru CS and was advised to submit photos. I did so and as soon the call ended, I received an email - Your furniture claim with SquareTrade has been terminated due to the original issue not being reported within the required timeframe, and future claims for Seam separation or ripped items are not supported. I got the Home Depot protection plan. The customer service was horrible. I had to speak with 10 people to get any resolution. (2 managers, 3 supervisors and 4 agents) A manger Aaron told me it was giant company policy to give me an address to file a formal complaint. Absolutely useless and infuriating experience with All State Protection Plan. I regret ever purchasing this so-called "protection" plan. I called to submit a claim for my Epson printer that clearly has a hardware issue -- the printouts have massive gaps. I followed every single ridiculous troubleshooting step they threw at me, wasted nearly TWO HOURS on the phone, and was still told the issue wasn't with the printer. Their final "solution"? They told me to just use the printer more often -- are you kidding me? I told them multiple times I don't need to print frequently, and printing for the sake of it is a waste of my time and expensive ink. They didn't care. No resolution, no credit, no replacement -- just endless runaround and zero accountability. This "protection plan" is a complete scam. They will waste your time, gaslight you about the problem, and then do absolutely nothing to help. I wouldn't recommend this garbage plan to my worst enemy. Do NOT use Square Trade. They claim to fix electronics but what they really do us glorified maintenance. I had an under warranty Steam Deck sent to them in December. This was after wasting a month going back & forth with them trying to get out of honoring the warranty. The Steam Deck had an unresponsive screen & power button. They very quickly sent it back, apparently working. When I asked what was the issue & what was fixed they said they did a factory reset & cleaned it. So, not a fix. They simply postponed the issue. The exact same issue that popped up again less than 3 months later. Of course after the warranty expired. When I called them back, I'm actually on the phone with them right now, they keep saying it's no longer their problem & that they repaired the issue. When I ask what actual repair was done they say, and I quote, "It was rebooted, we cleaned it, & reapplied thermal paste." One manager even said, "We did maintenance." Refusing to acknowledge that maintenance isn't repair. They've also admitted that despite me having the exact same problem they're no longer obligated to back up the repair they claimed they did. While being unable to explain what repairs were made besides "reboot & cleaned." I'm escalating this to whomever I need. Of course, they aren't Better Business Bureau certified. So maybe I'll stop by corporate offices or look into a class action lawsuit, with all the dissatisfied customers I'm sure there's one or will be soon. I'll also be calling AllState, eBay, & Steam to let them know how awful this partner of theirs is. TLDR: Do NOT trust Square Trade. They don't actually repair, just glorify clean. I've spent hundreds -- maybe thousands -- over the years buying SquareTrade protection plans through Walmart for multiple devices, including a PlayStation 5, a Samsung TV, a $300 swimming pool, and more. After submitting a valid claim for the pool, they refunded me -- but then canceled my entire plan and blocked my account without warning or a clear reason. The account is still blocked, and I can't access any of the warranties I paid for -- including coverage on major items like my PS5. Customer service? No help at all. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY OF THESE PLANS! I had purchased a plan for each a washer and dryer. The washer had issues just outside of the manufacturer's warranty. I filed a clain with Squaretrade. I was offered a new washer through email. I did my due diligence and inquired ehat would happen to the balance of my plan. I was told via email that after the new manufacturer's warranty expired, the plan would pick back up and be in place until 08-27-2026. I went ahead with said transaction. Now having issues with the newer washer, I tried to file a claim on the website, plan said it was active upon logging in, was told to call the 800 number. After hours of explaining, I keep getting rudely pushed off and told that the plan has been completed due to having a replacement delivered already. I have sent emails stating that their representatives have told me otherwise, with the enitre email thread attached. I received a case number (not a claim number) that had taken me no where. I have spent countless hours on the phone trying to rectufy this problem. I have asked numerous representatives if they stand behind their word, have had them read the email thread to me, and then they refuse to stand behind their mistake or take action for a representative who misspoke. I, personally, will not be a returning customer unless this is resolved. I knew the terms of the plan, asked several representatives to be sure, and was still told otherwise. The plan is a complete waste of money to speak with an outsourced representative that constantly reads a script. I have also spoken with supervisors, and their supervisors until they wouldn't let me go any higher. The higher in the supervisor chain you go, the more scripted it becomes. As for the claim number, I'm sure that it was only to passify me for the time being like I was actually getting some where. In the end, buy local with a local warranty if possible. This company is unethical and unprofessional! From my experience I needed support for my stove. It took two weeks to send a "technician" to assess the problem. The individual that assessed the problem through a curb ball by saying I had a rodent problem and that's why my stove could not be fixed. I wasn't aware that his job was to assess pest control issues. He then had me sign a document that stated he checked out the issue. Immediately after he left, I contacted the exterminator who came by my house and looked at my property. He told me he did not see any indication that we had a rodent. I called Square trade to explain the situation and forward them information about my exterminator and his expertise advice and I told them that the technician might not have known what to do with my stove so he just wrote report that got him off the hook to not have to fix the problem. After several attempts to have my stove fixed, square trade did not help. They did not wanna compromise with me nor did they want to send out another technician to get a second opinion they were not helpful. They were dismissive and I feel that they scammed me. Allegedly they send people that know what they're doing, however That it was not the case please do better-square trade! people assume you are looking out for their best interest but when it comes down to it, you're not there to help so why are you taking peoples money? In my opinion it is challenging to get the problem fixed, then you have to wait for the parts to be delivered. After all that time passes, you have to wait for a technician to then come to your house and make up an excuse as to why they cannot fix it without a fee. how does this make sense? I bought a refurbished laptop on ebay in September. ​ the screen started developing lines on it randomly. Didn't drop it. Step on it. Anything. Started a claim, sent it to squaretrade, they lied and said it was damaged because of me. I brought it to a local shop and they said the issue was internal and it wasn't anything I had done. Squaretrade paid the repair shop for his services, but after replacing the screen he found additional damage inside of the laptop, requiring repairs worth more than what I paid for it. squaretrade refuses to cover any more repairs. They said that they only cover up to what I paid for it. The problem is, when I brought it in he quoted me 160 to fix it. It wasn't until after he fixed it that he found additional issues. the seller refuses to refund me. the laptop isnt functional and its the fault of whoever refurbished it. So now I'm left with a $200 paperweight. By the way, don't try and chat or call squaretrade, it'll just be a waste of time. Their customer support team is bottom of the barrel. read more
