I appreciated the messages after I scheduled the repair, which was just a few days from when I scheduled. Thanks to this, I disconnected Apple Pay and Find My so the iPhone was ready for the battery replacement. When I arrived at my scheduled time, the man at the front desk took my phone and the case and brought it to a technician. The shop has a big and comfortably padded couch where people can wait. I listened to my favorite podcast on lifting culture and bodybuilding using a portable MP3 player. I was surprised that in just exactly half an hour later my phone was ready and the battery had been replaced without incident. I did not realize that replacement batteries are at zero when shops receive them. My iPhone was at 16 percent. The shop was gracious enough to charge the phone for 10 minutes to boost my level to 27 percent so I had plenty of charge for the trip home. I have a pocket cell phone charger. I wish I brought it. An advisory for customers to bring their portable cell phone chargers would have been helpful. Yet, I easily made it home on the charge I had with the brand new battery. Unfortunately, just two weeks later, a noticeable black blob appeared on the new screen near the Dynamic Island. This looks like OLED screen bleed or a defect. The phone has remained in a case with a screen protector the entire time and has not been dropped, bumped, or otherwise mishandled. Given the timing (only 2 weeks after installation) and the specific location of the spot, this issue is almost certainly the result of either a defective replacement screen or a problem during installation (such as trapped dust, adhesive, or pressure damage). It is not consistent with normal use or accidental damage. I offered to bring the phone in so they could inspect it in person, but they declined and immediately dismissed the warranty claim without examination. While I understand repairs aren't perfect, I'm disappointed they are unwilling to stand behind their work and honor the warranty on what is clearly a post-repair defect. I went from a satisfied customer who would have returned and recommended them to someone who can no longer do so. Potential customers should be aware that warranty support may not be reliable here. EDIT: Contrary to the response below the phone was never physically inspected. Rather, the response was based on a set of photos sent showing the issue which, alone, would be virtually impossible to come to a conclusion of physical damage versus defective product. As a customer, you are in a no win situation here as no matter what happens they are going to blame you and not the manufacturer or installation for the problem.
