For 5 of the last 6 holes we had to put through the sprinklers, race to move our carts out of the sprinklers and worry that the water just sprayed in my face wasn't going to make me sick. The course was backed up, so we couldn't just wait it out but instead had to play through the water. I know that you have to water the greens in the afternoon when it starts getting hot, but you do that with a hose, not the sprinklers. When I mentioned it in the pro shop after our round they were very understanding and said they would give us a rain check, which I believed to be appropriate, problem solved. Except it was a rain check, it was a prorated portion of our greens fee for the 5 holes we played under sprinklers. Probably won't be back.

When walking into the Pro Shop it seems as though it will be a very nice course, that is where it ends! First of all the course charges $70!! There is no military or first responder discount nor any discount for the course being in absolute disrepair!! The front 9 is almost UNPLAYABLE due to how heavily the fairways have been torn up by tractors and most are impassible due to the mud mounds and dirt piles. The fact that this course is still charging $70 is beyond me! I am so glad that we did not spend an additional dime in the pro shop as we were absolutely taken to the cleaners on the green fees! I will say again DO NOT GO PLAY THIS COURSE!! THE GREEN FEES SHOULD BE $35 TOPS FOR THE CONDITION IT IS IN! **Edited to add the singular photo I took of this horrendous experience. Also to add the Golf course only seems to reply to those that leave a 5 star review of the facilites such as pro shop. They seem to be just fine to take your $70 and move on.

There is not a tree anywhere obstructing your ability to hit the ball at various targets. 3. All the chipping greens have at least one ball rake laying beside the green. This is simply the best practice range in the area, and the best one I have ever come across anywhere. They also have a top rated highly experienced club fitter, and a great staff of teaching pros. The bucket price has gone up but the facilities are top notch, there are way more parts of your game you can practice here than any ither facility I have been to. They do have monthly and yearly memberships that make it pretty economical if you use the facility a lot.

For anyone who loves the game of golf, playing Sugar Tree is a MUST. We went in May and the conditions were pristine. The greens were decently fast and very true. Having not played the course before, we had zero course knowledge. It was very tough, but very fun. Each hole was an adventure. Literally. Most holes you couldn't see the flag bc of severe dog legs or major elevation changes. Accurate tee shots were more necessary than most courses. You had to get creative with your 2nd-3rd shots if you didn't hit a good one. Holes 5, 11, and 12 were probably my favorite. If you get a hold of your drive on 5 you can take full advantage of the huge downslope. Needless to say I hit a 349 yard drive! Unfortunately I bogied :( gotta work on that short game! The course was wide open and for $40, I will most definitely be making another trip out to Lipan, TX!
