She finally brought us our water after 45 minutes. We once loved The Squirrel Tree, but everything has changed- food quality, service and value. Skip it and go to PlIain or Leavenworth. Craving breakfast on a trip from Seattle to Leavenworth, we looked up our options on Yelp and there weren't many. Luckily, the Squirrel was just up the road to satisfy our rumbling tummies. The place was undergoing some renovation, but there was still plenty of parking, and we were quickly seated with in their Log Cabin vibey space. The menu featured typical breakfast fare, with prices about what you would expect to find in a touristy area. We started with coffee, and soon our breakfasts arrived. I hadn't wanted a big breakfast, so I ordered a la carte. My eggs, toast, and hash browns were good and fulfilled my need for a meal. I was a little surprised when the bill came and I had been charged for one of the more expensive breakfasts on the menu, even though I hadn't gotten meat. Husband, baby & I found our way to Squirrel Tree while I was working in Redmond & had the weekend off. We'd never been to Leavenworth, but were more interested in the surrounding nature than the Bavarian town. The motel is perfectly situated near the Wenatchee River & a few lakes. When we pulled up on a Friday night, the look on my husband's face told the story of where the heck are we staying. Turns out, this place is so insanely cute. The hotel rooms are newly renovated - very spacious, super clean bathroom, sizeable closet & nice mini fridge. The lodge serves fantastic food & drinks. Great selection of beers & homemade veggie patties for the veggie burgers. But the rage are the milkshakes. They serve breakfast/lunch/dinner & all meals can be eaten outside in the beautiful backyard area. On Saturday, an awesome band played (note that you couldn't hear the band from inside the motel room) & lots of families were out enjoying the summer night. Yesterday, Thursday 1/11, my husband and I stopped to get gas, around 10:30-10:45am, next to the Squirrel Tree restaurant. The restrooms at the gas station were closed. I walked over the Squirrel Tree to see if I could use their restrooms. If you are familiar with this restaurant, you know the restrooms are next to the entrance. Rather than use them without permission, I walked into the restaurant, explained the situation, and asked the waitress if it would be okay use theirs. She looked at me and said, "Sure, I can sell you a cup of coffee." I was surprised and said, "I'll have to go back to get some money." She then responded, "Okay." I was not aware there was a man sitting in a booth. To my surprise, with mild irritation in his voice, he said, "I'll buy her coffee." Definitely stop here on your way to and from this great area, I was over in the summer months headed to a work party on the PCT. I stopped on the way in and had a great meal with great beer choices. ....After a 5 days working in the woods I for sure had to stop by again on my way out! The food is acceptable and depending on what you get can be spot on. Nothing fancy in my opinion but good enough. The restaurant and bar have completed some new construction which is nice. The bathrooms are nice, clean and updated. The tables and booths in the main dining room need some work. The seat cushions are old and horrible. The side closest to the edge is flat and compressed and very uncomfortable. You might want to opt for the table verses the booth. The BLT is good. The portions are decent and the staff was ok. Not rude, not overly friendly. On the plus side, I prefer the Squirrel Tree vs the 59er Diner. read more

This is a nice restaurant. It's really clean and the interior is so nice. I'm vegan and ordered hash browns with veggies, tortillas + salsa. It's basically my go-to at most diners. My parents had French toast and enjoyed it. I didn't know this until after my meal, but they have dairy free milk. I would have added that to my coffee, but didn't even think to ask! It's okay! Last night we went to the Squirrel Tree Resort for dinner and to hang at the bar. Our bartender, other customers called her Jess, came over to us within a couple minutes. She seemed annoyed and aggravated but honestly when you work with the public, that is understandable. We then ordered drinks and had questions about the menu. Jess barely answered our questions as she turned her back to help someone else as she answered us while looking over shoulder. We ordered appetizers and entrees. We both ordered the 12oz Ribeye for $35. Before that, as APPETIZERS, we ordered mozzarella sticks and wings. About ten minutes goes by and our steaks come out. I told the lady that delivered our food that we order apps and she said, "yup, they're coming right behind me." 4 mins later, Jess comes out and dips our apps off. I told her that we anticipated getting our apps first, not almost 5 mins after receiving our steaks. She said that, that's too much for her to remember and that if we wanted to get our apps first in the future that we should order our apps and then order our entrees after we get our apps. I'm sorry but every POS. Has a hold button. And if it was too much to remember to course our meals out then she should've just told us to wait to order our entree. We explicitly said that we will START with....and then have our steaks. After that exchange, we humbly ate our entrees and boxed up our apps. She never offered us a second round of drinks and dropped the check. We then added one more drink and paid. Horrible service. Overall the food was decent, the fries were fresh but were not homemade, and my wrap was made with deli meat and pre-shredded cheese. I wouldn't necessarily have an issue with this normally, but for $15 an entree I'd expect a little bit more. Same theme with the other folks in my party. We loved this place so much that we went for lunch and then back for dinner with the whole family! Recently renovated and felt very clean, unlike the creepy pizza place down the street... first impression was good. The trim was clean and the bathrooms were new. The service had a unique aspect which we enjoyed - multiple people stopped by our table throughout the meal. Even if your table is just adults - ask for one of their brain teaser puzzles! These were a hit for adults and kids alike. Ok, it's a restaurant, so onto the food: this is a tourist area, expect a bit touristy pricing but nothing outrageous and seemed a better value than surrounding places for the quality! We had a delicious beef quesadilla, a Santa Fe grilled chicken salad, a delicious root beer milkshake, some wheat beer, craft cocktails, etc. I loved the Montecristo sandwich, which was the perfect balance of savory and sweet - doughy French toast/egg breading with lunch meats and cheese in the middle. Got done late from a local hike and was planning on going to Leavenworth for dinner but drove by Squirrel Tree ( about 15 Miles west of Leavenworth) and it looked like a hoppin place. There were lots of cars so we thought it's busy this late it must be good! We were right! The bar was packed so we sat in the dining area. From the moment we walked in everyone was super friendly! The service was quick and the staff were great! The owner was in and I saw him go around to every table and introduce himself and check on things. This is a family business and it shows! The personal touch and service was really refreshing! The food was excellent also ! I had a burger with onion rings. ( really yummy) some of the best onion rings I've ever had. Called an order in last night after seeing the GoFundMe about the Squirrel Tree needing help..after going in to pick up I can understand the need for help. Waited for 10 minutes in the dining area for someone to acknowledge me, the cook peeped around the kitchen and saw me, and then ignored me, I walked to the bar where people were sitting inside (could care less about that) and the bartender rudely informed me take out orders should be picked up in the dining room....where I just waited for 10 minutes without being acknowledged.
