We came here after a fun day of zip lining. We were pleasantly surprised w both presentation and quality of the food. We got the Natapock Sandwich, Cobb Salad, The South Burger and Jalapeño chips. All were so good! The fries were much better than topical fries and came out hot and crispy. I can't wait to bring all my friends and family for some really good food. Okay, here goes. I LOVE THEIR FISH N CHIPS. I feel so strongly about that that I had to write it in all caps, I couldn't help myself. Sorry. Did I get their fish n chips? Nope, I got their All American Burger - which was very good, a solid 5 star burger and 5 star fries, but I should've got their fish n chips. Not because they're better than the burger, but because I was in the mood for awesome fish n chips but didn't trust that a restaurant in the middle of the mountains surrounded by bears and trees and gophers would have awesome fish n chips. Well. I was wrong. My friend ordered the fish n chips. Three large (much, much larger than the ones I had at Anthony's and Ivar's during the last week!) perfectly cooked, beautifully crusted, yummy super delicious chunky pieces of cod and a boatload of absolutely delicious fries. I'm not a fry person but The Squirrel Tree could make me a fry person. Deeeelicious! The tarter sauce was on point, the lemon added another level of perfection and I'm lucky she wanted 1/2 of my burger or I would've been crying in my lemon water. I should probably talk about the burger. It was a normal burger with normal fixing + 2 slices of cheese. The meat was about 3/4 to 1 inch thick and perfectly cooked, flavorful and juicy. The bun was good, though I prefer onion or sesame buns, but at least it wasn't brioche. For some reason beyond my comprehension I've been jonesing for fish n chips lately, and when I've tried over and over to quench my obsession, I've had no luck west of the Cascades. Now I know where to go: A little log cabin restaurant along highway 2 in the middle of hodunk nowhere. Why 4 stars then instead of 5? Well, the restaurant and bar were half full but the service was painfully slow. Had it been faster it would've been 5 stars. read more

The waiter asked first about what job we had and then if we had voted for Inslee before he would answer any of our questions or take our order. Multiple people were eating inside, so we asked if we could sit and he said no, likely because of our answers to his previous questions. Not too bad, but nothing special either. I ordered the biscuit and sausage gravy and it was tasty however, I fear it may have been from a can. I've had homemade sausage gravy many times and this was not homemade. Basically it's tasted Denny's food. So if you like Denny's come on down! We LOVE their burgers! Stopped in again yesterday and they did not disappoint. It is clean, the staff is friendly, the food comes quickly and my husband loved his beer, the Dirty Face Amber by Icicle Creek. I totally recommend you order the onion rings. They were crispy and NOT greasy. A great accompaniment to the burger and the milkshakes are wonderful! I had a side salad which was full of goodies and not a "bag o salad" as it was actually GREEN! My husband and I wanted a little getaway outside the city. We were driving by and saw The Squirrel Tree Resort. First we stopped in and had some lunch which was delicious! I ordered the Southwest Burger and my husband ordered the fish tacos. Extremely generous amount of food. The staff was super friendly and you really get a warm and cozy feel. This is a mixed review. I'll give the food portions and flavor three stars. It's good, nothing fantastic. If I was to rate the initial service when we arrived, it would be zero stars. The place was empty and we stopped for breakfast. When we walked in, we were handed menus and told to sit wherever. The blonde waitress came over with water in paper cups, then went back to the front where she watched a movie (loudly) and ignored us. Five minutes later, I had to go to the counter so we could order vs. waiting for her movie to end. After this, as mentioned, food was decent and it was quickly brought out. read more

Stopped in on a road trip for a quick lunch. We had a group of nine. We were able to be seated right away. Took a bit for them to come and take drink and food orders but once they did, the food came quickly. I had the Cobb salad and it was a solid offering. Rating for the experience, not the food. Food was great! But I didn't feel safe here. Should have known better after reading sign on front door informing customers that they won't be questioned if maskless (because, privacy!) Mostly maskless customers. Staff were more or less masked depending who they were talking to. Tables appropriately distanced inside; outdoor seating seemed more of a free for all. What really made me nervous were all the common sense things left undone, like not sanitizing plastic menus, condiment packets or pens, or the lack of paper towels alongside working hand dryers in restroom. 4.5 stars-- some of the best hash browns I've ever had!! Super crispy and seasoned to perfection. Came here after a long and fun Oktoberfest so it was the perfect breakfast food for the morning after. We tried the Florentine and squirrel Benedict's and they were both amazing. Only complaint is that it lists coming with a poached egg however the egg came fully boiled with no runny yolk which was a bit disappointing. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the Squirrel Tree. Excellent service and excellent food! The Ribeye steak was cooked exactly as requested, and with the sauteed garlic mushrooms I added, it was delicious! My wife had the fish tacos, and a friend had the Squirrel Burger and both were more than satisfied with their food. And let's not forget the milkshakes! YUMMY! I was told the food was good, I didn't eat because of the flies though. Well over 50+ horse flies buzzing around while you eat. If you can deal with that, you just have to get past the fly traps by the windows and then you can eat. This place needs an exterminator, or a health inspector. read more

I've had a place at Lake Wenatchee for years but had only been at the Squirrel Tree once many years ago as my kids always wanted to go to the 59er Diner nearby. Last weekend a friend and I headed to Leavenworth to see the Christmas lights assuming the crowds would have thinned by Sunday night. Boy were we wrong. So we skipped out of Leavenworth proper and stopped at the Squirrel Tree. The place was remodeled about 3 years ago. The menu is pretty standard burgers/sandwiches/wraps/salads and fish tacos. We both ordered a burger and a glass of wine and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and also the helpfulness of the staff. They also roast and sell their own coffee. We bought a bag and it was quite good. Anyway, skip the crowds in downtown Leavenworth and on your way back across the pass, pull in at the Squirrel Tree and enjoy a nice meal. read more

The place has a perfect location: close to Stevens and to Leavenworth. Motel: We came for a (very) long weekend to ski and hang out in Leavenworth. We really appreciated the proximity to the ski resort. And next year the new owner will add a deal for ski passes too. I will be a frequent visitor for sure! The place is clean, warm and cozy, and has a satellite (or a cable). The quality of the rooms is the same as that of the hotels in the village for a 1/3 of the price! The beds are comfortable, the water is hot, and the heater works very well (and you see nature out of the window :)) We spent one night at the bar downstairs and got a cab (pretty cheap) to the village the next night. Amazing location! Bar: The bar was fun, we hung out with a bunch of locals, picked our own music and even danced a little. It was a fun night. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. But the atmosphere definitely calls for another visit. Restaurant: We had a breakfast and a dinner. The menu has a variety of burgers, and there will be a new menu next month. A traditional American menu. The burgers are delicious, I tried two and liked both of them (can't remember which ones though). The staff is super friendly (but the service is a bit slow), and the owner meets and greets you personally. Definitely a non-city feel. We'll definitely be back! read more

I have tell say that I haven't been here in years! My husband and son stopped in for breakfast and raved about it, so on our way home last Sunday night we stopped in. The service was excellent, the milkshakes homemade and the food delicious! The chicken wrap was huge! The side salad actually had celery and carrots and olives and tomatoes! And the burger? Probably the best one I have ever had. The bacon was thick, the onions grilled and it could easily be shared as I was only able to eat half. Stop in, it is worth it! SO GOOD! read more

I originally gave this a 2 star... this is my old review: I used to love coming to the Squirrel Tree - I used to stop here about once a month. But the last few times I have been disappointed. I feel like everything's "previously frozen" now and lacks flavor and character. I would like to see the fish tank go - that's just weird there, and all the fake flowers and vines be replaced with real 'wildflowers' or small pine branches. That fireplace should be showcased - it's beautiful. The interior of the restaurant is great - awesome log cabin look, but I wish they'd keep the decor simple and take away some of the hokey clutter (just creates places for dust and critters). Squirrel and bear related items I can understand... but a fish tank? I hope they make some improvements to the food, I'll probably stop in again to check it out because it's close to our cabin, but since my last few visits have been disappointing, I'm more likely to go into town to find someplace to eat. 9/1/2017 Update - MUCH BETTER!!!! New ownership has made some improvements, everything is better, Vito has vision! I'm anxious to see the upcoming addition to this planned 'resort'. We went through the drive thru that is located on the side of this building to order coffee. When we pulled up, we could see that no one was wearing a mask correctly inside, either not at all or with their nose exposed. When we put our masks on, we were met with a rude comment from the barista. Overall inconsiderate and disrespectful people. read more

I'm not sure why this place gets such good reviews. It was extremely over priced for the quality of the food. My husband and I ordered the budget burger. It was a pre made patty that tasted equivalent to a McDonald's burger. The kids Mac and cheese clearly came out of a box like Kraft Mac and cheese. There were also flies that would not leave my kid's Mac and cheese alone which was gross and frustrating. On the positive side the shake was good as were the fries. The service was friendly though scattered. I would rather drive into Leavenworth for a better meal. I won't be back. read more

We always stay at Squirrel Tree when snowmobiling at Fish Lake. The owner and help are always very friendly and helpful. The accommodations are always warm and clean and their restaurant has excellent food, especially the prime rib. The parking lot is huge with plenty of room for the trucks and trailers. read more

My family loved this place! Comfortable, relaxing atmosphere; great food, and the customer service is exceptional. We ate here twice during our weekend stay in the area and stopped back in one last time for our espressos our final morning before heading out. Will be sure to come here again next time we stay.
