This is the only good Indian food restaurant in Lansing and it's the only one I go to. I know Lansing is somewhat lacking to begin with, but still, this place is just as good if not better than the Indian food I've had in larger cities. They give MASSIVE quantities of rice, good portions of curry and whatnot, ingredients taste fresh and everything is so flavorful. Highly recommend the Aloo Gobi. read more

Let's start with the most important part the review, the food. Started off with an appetizer, potato bajji which was delicious and they gave you enough to feed a small group of people. I ordered the chicken korma and my friend ordered the chicken tikka masala both with mild spice. The sauces were great, filled with flavor, and the chicken was very tender. The rice was cooked perfectly and the naan was warm and crispy. The male owner helped us during the ordering process and answered questions we had about the different sauces. The female owner came out at the end to make sure we were satisfied with the food, we were! Our waitress was clearly new but very friendly. We found her quirkiness charming and honestly we would come back just to see her again. Overall this was a good place and I recommend you give it a try! read more

Last few months as we catered many times and also ate few times , seems like they are serving lot of pre-cooked food may be microwave and serve. Had few folks upset stomach. I am sorry to be blunt in writing but today we catered for 15 people dinner and chicken biryani especially had meat which we were scared to even touch. I didn't know that they only had buffet during their lunch hours, so that was kinda disappointing, since u can't order from the menu and can only have what is in the buffet. It's a small buffet too. Only liked 2 things that were in the buffet, garlic chicken and butter chicken. The waitress was really nice and brought us a basket of butter naan, which was the best part of the meal. Don't leave the tips on the table, hand it directly to your server, because if you leave it on the table, the owners will end up collecting it. Just something I learned when I was there. Total for 2 people for a lunch buffet was over $27, so that was a very expensive lunch, and not that great. I ate at Sree Saffron for the first time last night. My husband and I enjoyed some of the most delicious Indian food I have ever had (and I have eaten at many Indian restaurants across the country). The sauces were smooth, and creamy, with just the right amount of spiciness. We had the goat korma and the butter chicken. Both were wonderful - I am eating the leftovers for lunch today. Really impressed with this lunch buffet. I'm a vegetarian, and there were loads of choices for me. Pros: Great selection of dishes that significantly contrasted flavor profiles and textures. Some more unusual offerings than the standard buffet fare. Very friendly staff. Good price point. Cons: None really, other than water served in disposable cups (but loved being asked whether we wanted ice or no ice), and many of the dishes leaned towards being a little too rich with ghee for lunch. Overall, good Indian food with spices and flavors that were delicate and nuanced, never over stewed. Great quality ingredients and whole spices that were not over cooked. Loved it!! read more

First positive experience. The food is very good and service when dining in is also very good. Never had issues. However, twice I ordered online directly from the ordering system on their website (not grubhub or Mr Delivery) to be picked up at the restaurant by me. Both times they were surprised when I went for pickup as they didn't have the order. However, later they found the order and then started making it. Both times I was asked why I didn't call them after placing the online order. If I had to call every time, then why is the online ordering system needed. I asked for a refund due to the delay and they claimed that the payment goes to a 3rd party and cannot be refunded. Seems the management doesn't understand the concept of online order process or the next steps associated after ordering or even the concept of customer service if things go wrong. They claim that they usually receive a call after an order is placed but based on how the online payment is diverted to another IT company (may be owned by same people), seems someone might be manually calling the restaurant for every order received online. No importance for a customer. Worst management, can't even reserve a table properly and this is not the way people should look after their customers. We first stepped-in to restaurant and saw its so busy and couldn't get a seat. We asked the management to reserve the seat for us saying will be back in 15 mins. They did gave a call and we said we will be back to restaurant in 10 Mins, but fortunately we were in by 8 mins. This management couldn't even spare 2 more mins for us and gave that table for other customer and said that we came early so they thought to give to other person meanwhile. Who the hell can finish their dinner in 5-10 mins when they go to restaurant. We totally blame the management for this kind of ridiculous service. MANAGEMENT PLZ DO CHANGE!!! read more

Just tried the lunch buffet for the first time and it was great! They bring the naan to your table fresh which solves the problem other local places have of old, stale naan that's been sitting for too long. I will definitely be back. Food was delicious. Owners were super friendly. I ordered shahi paneer. It had good flavors but way too much onion. My friend ordered a biriyani. Although she asked for mild/medium, it was very spicy. My main concern was, it took them 1-1.15 hours to make our 2 item order. There were only 2-3 more parties at this time, so it wasn't busy either. I hope they work on food prep timing. With that being said, I am going to give them a another chance :) read more

The best Indian food in the Lansing-East Lansing area! The lunch buffet is also really good. The only con is that they play loud techno and videos of raves on the TVs all the time. If you dine in, make sure you have time to spare. They get busy and it some times takes a while to get your check. read more

This place is very flavorful with many unique dishes not usually found in standard Indian fare. The lunch buffet is the way to go because you can sample everything. Cannot recommend highly enough. Watch out because the food is so good it can be hard to get a seat at the peak lunch time. I tend to go at 11:30 to beat the rush. read more

This is our new favorite Indian restaurant in the East Lansing area! We've been there 3 times in the past month (going again tomorrow!) and everything we've had has been fabulous! The lunch buffet is wonderful and we've ordered dinner off the menu twice. Their take on some of the more common Indian recipes is better than any we've tasted elsewhere. Delicious food and I'm quite picky about my Indian food! Cooked with a nice kick, definitely not for those who don't like spice. Biggest problem is the lack of consistency, you don't always get the same thing even when you order the same thing. But still the food has never been bad. My family loves to go for the lunch buffet, which has a wide assortment of flavorful (often spicy, in a great way) dishes. They bring fresh warm garlic naan bread to each table, offer hot chai tea, and always have two dessert dishes. Been here 5 times already, that's how satisfied I am with service and food. Lunch buffet is a steal, the chutneys are one point and taste really good. Goat briyani and chicken tikka masala are my personal favourites. Love the chicken tandoori, recommend giving it a try at their lunch buffet. The food is flavorful and not at all greasy, and includes some South Indian favorites that I rarely see at lunch buffets (vada and sambar!). So glad I found this place! read more
