Base model G6 with more problems than it's worth & Bought from SS Auto
    Tristan A.

I bought a vehicle a few years back from SS auto & by far the WORST vehicle I have ever owned. After being swindled into buying the vehicle I came to find out they bought my vehicle for $500 from auction did nothing as far as repairs & sold it to me for $6k & YES, the clear coat was already peeled off half the car when I got it. They were going to "fix it for me" & the worst part about all of it after I bought the vehicle the owner of this business accused me of damaging the vehicle after I took it to a shop to get a second opinion & another inspection just two days after I bought it (learned my lesson) I WOULDNT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS TO AN ENEMY. only reason they are still in business because they screw over EVERY person that walks thru the door & most don't even know it. STAY CLEAR! I think the one star review is generous considering the horrible customer service.

I don't normally leave negative reviews, but my experience with Gladstone Automotive has been one…read moreof the most frustrating vehicle purchases I've ever had. This all started in the middle of June when I began looking for a truck. I knew my credit wasn't perfect, and I also had negative equity in my trade, so I understood financing wouldn't be easy. I decided to give Gladstone Automotive a chance. I met with the sales team, looked at several vehicles, discussed pricing, and explained exactly what I was looking for. After a few days of going back and forth with the finance department, they found a truck that fit my budget. I was told it had been damaged on their lot by another vehicle in service and needed repairs before I could take delivery. That wasn't a deal breaker. We agreed on the numbers, signed all the paperwork, and I was told the truck would be ready the following week. The following week came and went without a single update. I had to call them myself, and then I was told it would be ready the week before the Fourth of July. When I called again before heading home for the holiday, they still had no answers. After the holiday, I called again and was told they were still waiting. At that point I asked to speak with a manager. That's when I found out the truth--the insurance adjuster hadn't even looked at the truck yet. After weeks of being told it would be ready "next week," I learned the repair process hadn't even really started. That was incredibly disappointing and made me feel like I had been misled. Fast forward to July 20, and I still don't have my truck. It finally came back from the body shop, and I was told it was being cleaned and prepared for delivery. Then I received another call asking if I had declined the bed liner. I hadn't--I paid for the bed liner as part of the purchase. So now the truck has to wait again while that's installed. Another issue involved the rocker panels. I made it very clear before signing any paperwork that I would not buy the truck unless the damaged rocker panels were repaired. After the truck returned from the body shop, I noticed they still hadn't been addressed, so now it has to go back to the body shop again. One thing that also bothered me was the vehicle history and pricing. The Carfax report didn't mention that the truck had been involved in an accident, yet I was told it had been damaged on the dealership's lot and required body repairs before delivery. Despite that, there was no adjustment to the purchase price. I expected more transparency and some consideration on the price given the circumstances. To make matters worse, I'm an Illinois resident, not a Missouri resident. Before signing the paperwork, I specifically told the dealership to make sure my Illinois title, registration, and taxes were included in the paperwork and rolled into the loan. I was assured everything would be handled. I later found out that wasn't done either, which now leaves me responsible for paying my Illinois title fees, registration, license plates, and taxes out of pocket. That's a significant expense that I specifically asked them to account for. Communication throughout this entire process has been terrible. My salesperson rarely followed up unless I contacted him first. Before signing the paperwork, I repeatedly asked whether the truck came with a second key. Every time I was told he'd find out and get back to me. He never did. I eventually learned that the truck only comes with one key, and I'll have to pay for a second one myself. I understand delays happen, and I understand that unexpected issues come up. What I don't understand is being given inaccurate information week after week instead of honest updates. Had someone simply been upfront with me from the beginning, this experience would have been much different. Whether my financing situation played a role or not, I can't say. What I can say is that this has been an extremely disappointing buying experience. Between the poor communication, repeated delays, incomplete repairs, unexpected out-of-pocket costs, and lack of follow-through on multiple promises, this has been anything but a positive experience. Once this deal is finally complete, I will never do business with Gladstone Automotive again, and I cannot recommend them based on my experience.

I called other Mazda dealers -- including one in California -- and their quotes were HALF or LESS than this place charged me! They charged me for OVER 3 HOURS of labor but refused to give ANY breakdown, saying, "What breakdown?" when I asked. They took MORE THAN 2 HOURS just to tell me what was wrong! When I complained, the manager, Cody, was RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL, saying: "My mechanic needs to get paid." Like that's my problem! He even threatened to make bad reviews disappear. If you already know what's wrong with your car, I recommend getting multiple estimates before going to the dealership--they tend to charge significantly more and do not offer price matching. After the initial repair, a new issue appeared that wasn't present before. I returned to the dealership and explained this to the service manager, expressing concern that I should not be charged for a problem that arose immediately after their work. I calmly reiterated that I didn't want to be held responsible for an issue I didn't cause. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, the service manager accused me of being "too aggressive" and asked me to leave--simply for standing up for myself and requesting fair treatment. Despite this, the service manager escalated the situation by threatening to call the police on me--a paying customer with a valid concern--because they didn't like how I voiced it. I found this extremely unprofessional and upsetting. Frankly, it's hard not to wonder if minority customers are treated differently here. Accusing someone of being aggressive when they are simply advocating for themselves is unacceptable. If you're considering buying a car or getting service from this dealership, be very careful. Their service quality has declined, their prices are high, and their handling of customer concerns is deeply concerning. I hope this helps someone else make a more informed decision.

I was first 5 cars in line at 8AM on Saturday, but due to utter disorganization from the check in staff, I was the last one to get picked since they changed their approach on how they would take customers. I believe people who had not scheduled their appointment jumped in front of me. Their labor rates are same as other dealers, so cost won't be different. I only had oil changes with them, so I am not sure how they will work on warranty items. Overall, this dealership needs to catch up. I met few employees that didn't speak great about this dealership and the management. That is never a good sign.

It might have helped that I knew the used car manager's wife, but I'd like to think this dealer group routinely treats customers well. They also have a fairly decent service department, although I preferred the one in Johnson county, probably because they had better amenties and they put me in better rental units. After an incredibly stressful month of searching for a vehicle, I met with a salesman to test-drive an Atlas and was planning to move forward with the purchase the following day. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding regarding financing, and I ultimately decided that the Atlas was no longer the right vehicle for me. Around 7:00 p.m., I put down a $500 deposit without realizing that it was non-refundable. By approximately 11:00 a.m. the following morning, I contacted the dealership and requested that my deposit be returned. I was told no. The vehicle had been off the market for less than four business hours, yet the dealership absolutely refused to return my $500. What made the situation even more disappointing was the way I was treated. The salesman showed very little understanding, and the sales floor manager was incredibly unhelpful. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable--I simply wanted my deposit back so I could take some additional time to shop around and find a vehicle that better fit my budget. I completely understand that I should have read the fine print before putting down a deposit, and I take responsibility for that. However, I also believe there is a difference between enforcing a policy and choosing to treat a customer with basic kindness and understanding. In this case, I felt neither. This experience ultimately resulted in me deciding to take my business elsewhere. If you're shopping for a Volkswagen, I would strongly recommend considering another dealership. And if you do find yourself at Northtowne, the salesman I spoke with at their Hyundai dealership was the only person I encountered who showed any real kindness or understanding toward my situation. A very disappointing experience and an expensive lesson to always read the fine print before putting down a deposit. Would not suggest working with Robert and after speaking with the manager Russ I understand where these salesman learned their behavior. Very sad.
