The beer is plenty good. The food is its equal. Chuck does more than whip up tasty nosh; he cooks it up with pride. That was apparent when we asked him about his BBQ shareables. Chuck didn't just list the accompanying sauces. He hustled back to the kitchen, brought out a selection in one-ounce cups, and urged us to sample them. That's when we realized something: the key at MiddleCoast is to keep it simple. Get the Chicken Tenders with whiskey ginger sauce. Sure, tenders are standard bar fare, but Chuck's are a cut above! They're particularly good when paired with a malty-smooth Old Toad English Ale. Or have the Chicken Wings with hot honey sauce. These'll set off a little volcano in your mouth. They are extremely conscientious if you have celiac or any type of food allergy. The servers wore gloves and said, "this is 100% gluten free," when they brought the food over. The sweet potato fries were the best ever. You can enjoy housemade/brewed/distilled beer, cider, seltzer, or cocktails ( Purple Rain by Man+Beard Bun Joe, anyone?) with perfect pub food. The hot honey cauliflower had the perfect balance of crispy, sweet, and spicy and is proof you are indeed what you eat! The Meat Dragon had my sweet and spicy self reenacting the "O' scene from the old movie, "When Harry Met Sally." We also had pepperoni pizza and the chicken sandwich. #nomnom!! It was clear they were setting up for a big group, but our service by Sam was outstanding, and our food was so fast. Chef Andrew came out to ensure we enjoyed his delicious creation, too. The games were on the tvs at the bar. The beer brewing gallery is in full view and really impressive. Also, I can't wait to enjoy a beer by the firepit later in the fall. The location is perfect. It's just one block off of busy Front Street and right across from Park Place Hotel. I can't wait to check out trivia and live music, too. It was open mic, but NO one was there to play, so the host was playing and he was fantastic. While looking around, I saw a poster that happy hour IS all day. It was very weird, we were at another brewery a few days before, that was off the beaten path (of downtown) and there were lots of people and a longggg list of people to play open mic. NO happy hour. Why is this place dead, especially when there's a HH? Wonder how many people like us came in, and left due to the incompetent hostess. Before this, came in to play speed trivia, which was fun. However, bone up on country music, boy bands and 90s bands. Apparently there is NO other music that exists for the Music Category (1 of 4). And suggestion: since the game is completely computerized, it would be fun to divide the team points by the number of people on a team. That seems like it would be more fun "competition" between 2 and 7 person teams, since the host encourages teasing. read more

We went in before 9pm on Thursday (when they close at 10) and the bartender was so busy talking to a friend that he didn't even acknowledge us, or tell us he'd be with us soon. Then he left the bar and we were just standing there while other employees ran back and forth from the bar to the tables (of which about 5 were occupied) they were helping. Stop #1 on our bike tour of breweries in TC. (Not a professional tour or org, just something I put together with friends) Monkey Fist opens early and is in a large building with a couple other restaurants. One being crepes and another burgers. Big plus was the restroom facilities and the large patio. There was 8 of us that ordered flights and huddled under the shade of the umbrellas on the patio at 11am on a Saturday. The flights were amazing. Great variety of offerings. Only downside was lack of service, but there was someone that was happy to come collect and clean up. If you wanted something you, opened a tab or paid for each purchase and carried it all the way back out to your seat. The inside was large with great space for group seating but the day was too nice to be inside, in the dark. This location gets a lot of traffic and it looks like they can handle it. We'll definitely start out here again for morning beers and maybe crepes next time. read more

We picked this place on a whim! We wanted a brewery but we also wanted one that sold food and was kid friendly. We chose the right one! The atmosphere was amazing. Their cute little beer garden was a hit with me and my family. The beer/cocktails were good. Hubby tasted 2 different beers and me I got a cocktail and a beer. All were great. But the food was even better! Kids had a pizza each and they loved it. Hubby had the smash burger and I had to apps. So good! We didn't know but inside they had a DJ doing trivia. That's super cool. The waitress we had was very attentive as well. Very good service. Only negative thing is we didn't see a parking lot for the building.
