My recent food truck order from the Medical District was good at most. While the portions were generous, the jerk chicken meal (with cabbage, mac and cheese, and dirty rice) and catfish meal lacked the vibrant flavor I've come to expect. Both the chicken and fish had surprisingly similar flavor profiles and i really couldnt taste the difference in seaslnings, which was a letdown. The mac and cheese and cabbage were just okay. On the positive side, the service at the truck was exceptional; the young lady working there was a fantastic salesperson. However, the $40 price tag for two meals and two iced teas felt steep for the overall quality. I won't be ordering from the food truck again, but I might consider visiting their restaurant in the future. I cant speak of the ambiance as it was a food truck, but it was nice and advertised well. This place is not the move. Grossly overpriced for microwaveable sides and small dry chicken. Placed an order for take out, was quoted 15-20 minutes. Arrived to pick up food only to wait another 10-15 minutes. After receiving my food and driving home I realized my order was not complete. Called St.Bess and was told to go back to pick up said food that was not packed up with the rest of my order. I told them I could not and if I could simply just receive a partial refund for the food that was not packed which the cashier agreed to. I had been wanting curry goat from St Bess for months. I had tried from there a year ago and it was on point. So today I ordered the curry goat and drove 21 miles to get it. Once I got it , I didn't wait to get back home to eat it. I tried while driving, but it was inedible. So much salt I could eat it. I even tried picking through it. No way possible. This for the new St Bess that opened on the North Side, at NW Highway and Narragansett. I went here on a recommendation from a co-worker and ordered the 8pc wing dinner with plantains and sweet potatoes. I got the oxtail lunch for my wife; damage was 28 bucks. Two things: 1) the soda I ordered was watered... the post mix wasn't changed. 2) the chicken wings were NOT done! They were still bloody on the inside! Six minutes in the microwave fixed that, tho. But, with those two peeves set aside, I got down to the eating. The jerk sauce was absolutely on point and the seasoning was fire! The dinner comes with beans and rice, and I had two side choices. Both sides were yummy! I got a GOOD portion for the 16 I paid, so no complaints there. My wife enjoyed her oxtails and even pilfered some of my jerk sauce for them! All in all, not bad. I ordered delivery of curried goat macaroni and plantains and I asked for a side of jerk sauce. My food got here quick and it's nice and hot so that is a plus. However, instead of my plantains I got mashed potatoes and the curried goat doesn't have much sauce on it and is pretty underwhelming with flavor.
