From the very beginning they coached us and helped us physically and emotionally prior to any paperwork was presented to us. Norah was very kind and gentle and understanding about the VIP/Tender care for my BELOVED wife. She knew that my wife was a hospice care nurse. Although, I was familiar with the process of entering into a hospice care, Norah took the time to make sure I am not lost in my own emotions to thoroughly understand the INDIVIDUALIZED process for my wife's care. Demi and Norah were able to help me care for my wife even before we completed the signing process. My wife needed an urgent help while they were explaining the process and they were there READY LOVINGLY help. The care was truly exceptional from Ana, Maggie, Gabby, and DEMI. I understand that hospice care is not daily BUT it seemed like they were there EVERY day for us without being an interruption nor an intrusion. Always lovingly caring and very ACCOMMODATING offering all the needs that we may need or not need at that specify time. ALWAYS with a smile and a gentle approach to their service. I wish I could do more or say more other than THANK YOU. It just doesn't seem enough. They are such an OUTSTANDING example of caring for others better than the care or accolades for themselves. No one would feel "ALONE" in this process with their service, The SW and the Chaplain were very helpful and diligent in making sure no one was left unnoticed in this service. The called diligently to make sure that all the services included through hospice is offered to us. Thanks gentlemen. Before I knew any better, I would have said this hospice company was okay. The call center is a…read morepain in the rear to get connected to and often times the "secretary" is extremely unkind and unhelpful (depending on who you get connected to). I experienced long hold times more often than not. Of the several nurses that came to my mother's home, I would say 2 were worth their weight. It was like begging them to get them to adjust her comfort medications because she was not responding well to them. Eventually, they put her on their "ICC" care, where we were meant to have a nurse bedside for 8hr time blocks.... Which would have been helpful, had there actually been nurses available. They had no one pick up my mom's "open shift" -- twice. We had a nurse for an 8hr shift all of 3x before we discharged her from Vitas. Upon discharge, I called them to have them fax over her information to the new hospice company we had chosen. The admin professional I spoke to was extremely condescending, disrespectful and unhelpful. I thought this was all normal level of care to be expected as unfortunately we have dealt with Medicare level professionals for a long time. It wasn't until we signed on with a new hospice company in a different state that I realized VITAS was the problem. VITAS provided a mediocre level of care, resources, and respect to our family and it's really a shame that other families have to rely on this company for such an emotionally demanding time in their lives. I had high hopes when transitioning my mom onto hospice care, however this company DANGEROUSLY misses the mark. If you can avoid "program 96", please do.

Vanessa who answered the phone answered all my questions and got back to me in a timely fashion. She didn't miss a thing and once we were signed up I felt great relief knowing I had this company on board to walk me through this process. I called on a Monday, the nurse Amanda came to assess mom that afternoon and we had approval for services within an hour. By the next morning all sorts of equipment was delivered; it was amazing how quickly they worked. The next day Juliet the RN came and checked out mom. Both nurses were so kind and gentle with my mom. Juliet went over the transitioning signs and other information that was very helpful to me in knowing what to expect. She spent a lot of time with me, I never felt rushed; Juliet's care was genuine. Communication was top notch; I received text notifications every time Juliet was going to come by. Both Juliet and Joyce the social worker arrived within minutes of my mom transitioning and it was so comforting to have them here. I had interviewed other hospice companies in the past and while the people I met with were nice, they felt a bit fake. I did not feel this way about Unique Hospice. Their attention and care is real and very respectful. I highly recommend Unique Hospice to walk through this difficult time with you.
