Including the one who wanted to cook for me because she was a " gourmet" cook but couldn't even manage to toast a piece of bread without burning it. Another one was the gal who refused to deal with my sanitation needs to keep the poop out of my bleeding sore so that I don't get an E. coli infection. Yet another one was a gal who spent the whole time she was here obsessing about some home drama or on the phone dealing with the same problems. Why should I pay for her to deal with her home issues? The barely possible ones must've watched your ads and thought all she needed to do was fluff my pillows and chat with me over the breakfast table. At least one of them had not had any training at all from you before she showed up at my door. I am glad that we are no longer with Visiting Angels I was quickly able to get a real CNA who worked at a top hospital for 20 years for less money than I was paying for Visiting Angels. I cannot say enough great things about Visiting Angels of Glendora. My grandmother is in declining health and I live on the other side of the country. Visiting Angels came to the rescue at a time of great need and stress for me and my family. Joan Cady was my case manager and she is such a kind and compassionate individual. She listened carefully to my family's needs and offered very meaningful ideas and solutions. With almost no waiting time, she deployed her "Angels" to my Grandma's side and got us the help we needed right away. The "Angels" helped her with daily life tasks, prepared light meals, did some house chores, and assisted with some errands. At the end of every shift there was a detailed report of the visit and always quick communication if an issue came up. Equally great to work with was their scheduler, Katie, who was always on top of things. With everyone I interacted with, missed calls/emails were returned in a timely manner and there was always a caring and kind message on the other end. Rates were very competitive. The Glendora Visiting Angels office was there for my family when I needed them most in caring for my dad who is 97. I had been the primary caregiver for him for over a decade after my mother died. Dad was reluctant to bring anyone other than me or other family members to provide care. He really loved the caregivers that he immediately became friends with. His dementia was progressing more and more and he struggled to be able to walk by himself without falling. We started with 9 hours of care per week, which was mostly companion to sit with him, watching tv, taking him for walks in his wheelchair, making sure he ate proper meals. This was the respite I needed to get away for a bit. Over the next year, the caregivers from Visiting Angels supplied increased personal care for him. We added more hours per week and increase the requirements of care. Our last caregiver, Diane, became a part of our family. Why did Jackie do that instead of asking me? I have an answering machine she could have left a message in case I was not home and could have returned her call. My brother and I share a lot of family things and events but not to the extent of keeping a record of who our doctors are in general. We act when there is an emergency. We have had Visiting Angels caring for my father in law since last November. They have truly been Angels. They have provided loving compassionate care through their care givers. My father in law has been truly blessed by several care givers who have been with him and been steady and dependable. Over the past month he has been especially blessed by Michael Pascua. Michael has all the qualities that a true care giver needs to possess. He cares for my father in law like he is family. He listens to him and tries to meet all his needs medically and physically. Dad was very hesitant to have anyone other than me or other members of our family care for him. However, he truly enjoyed the friends that he quickly made with each caregiver. He had progressive signs of dementia, and was a fall risk, barely able to walk by himself. At first, the care consisted of 9 hours per week, just a companion to sit with him, watching tv, taking him for walks in his wheel chair, making sure he ate his lunch....while I got away for a bit. Within 1/2 hour of my call, an intake staff member was in our home to take relevant information and 2 hours later, we had our first caregiver. We are now 6 months in, with 25-40 hours of caregiver support in our home each week and are very pleased. We had no idea that his move of only 2 miles east was going to be out of their jurisdiction. The point is this agency was aware of my father moving four weeks prior to his move. But nonetheless, they only gave us one week to figure out a transition for my fathers in home care. Always flexible with schedules and does whatever they can do to get a caregiver in my parent's home even with short notice. The office staff is great and their caregivers seem very professional. They do great things to donate money to local organizations and often hold community events like shredding days and e-waste donations. I called in on a friday night and they had their care manager in on saturday morning to talk us through the options and explain the differences between home care agencies.
