Fantastic place and vibe,. Drinks aren't too overpiced and the charcuterie board we had was great...a little small for the price but still fantastic. We would definitely go back there! This place is great for it's roof to bar. I didn't even know this place existed but I was invited to join some friends. On Thursday evening in early June, weather was fair. Got there at 10pm, there was a nice size of folks outside. Inside was pretty empty. I did have a meal inside. The pork (?) slider. Can I say FLAVORLESS!! Just a shame. Based on that, I would not recommend to eat here. Pros- The lady DJ that night was turning out some great caribbean tunes. She leaves at 11pm I think but she was on point! Not sure if she is there on other nights or stays later. We had sat outside in a nice enclosed area, and we had the nicest waitress serve us. Forgot her name but she def added to our good time there. Awesome rooftop to check out if you are in the area. I came here on a Saturday early evening and the place was not too busy. Ordered a couple of beers and drank it outside. Nice views of Times Square as well as seeing the infamous ball used as count down for NEw Years. Regular beers are approx. $11 each, cocktails range from $15 onwards. Entrance to the bar is via hotel lobby, the elevator will take you straight up to the bar. Although the drinks are a bit pricey, I found this bar to be a great rooftop bar in the Times Square Area. It has both an indoor and outdoor area with a lot of seats and tables all round. It also has a bar both indoors and outdoors which is more convenient compared to other bars in the area. My friend had set up a surprise birthday celebration for her boyfriend here and it worked out spectacularly. We got a great outdoor space for about 12-15 people, plenty of table space and seats. The area also felt so private and intimate as she had reserved it ahead of time and was able to grab this wonderful space. Great for a friend gathering for sure. We had a waitress that took our orders and was attentive although turnaround of drinks was a little slow. As for the drinks, although the pricing was quite up there, average $18, it was really quite delicious. I didn't notice any strong taste of alcohol and the cocktails were really well put together. I think that is why I liked this bar more than others I have had experienced. Execution of the cocktails was very well done. Needless to say the cocktail did its job and did it really well. I tried the Spring Old Fashioned and the Aqueduct. Both were delicious, super refreshing from the fruit accents. Overall a good experience. Pricey for sure but if you are willing to pay, it hopefully won't disappoint. read more

Sorry, but I'm going to disappoint a few people with a great review. We stayed at the Knickerbocker for two nights in August. My entire experience there (including the rooftop bar) was nothing less than spectacular. We started inside the bar, had a drink there, then moved out, found a few people to chat with, listened to DJ and sat for a few hours enjoying the vibes from atop of the bar. I'm from Ohio, so I was surprised the charges were as low as they were for my drinks ($32) and I was drinking Kettle One. I had no problems getting a drink on a Friday night. We were there from 7-12pm. My friend was upset when they wouldn't let her bring a pizza she ordered up there, but I completely understand....I can't imagine if they did that for everyone. It would be trashed in 10 seconds. The view is spectacular. You are literally sitting in the middle of Time's Square with the ball in front of you. I don't care if I can't see over the other buildings. I was there for the atmosphere, not to see the Skyline. read more

Having heard a lot about the view from this bar, we were excited to try it out. Unfortunately it was pouring that evening so we didn't get the "full experience". Nonetheless you could still see much of the Times Square buildings through their glass ceiling, which is a pretty incredible sight. They weren't particularly busy on a Friday night, with some groups here and there. They have plenty of seating outside, and some high tables and a lounge area towards the back. our 4 drinks totaled to $60+ which is expensive for what it was. My husband and I stumbled upon this gorgeous rooftop bar during our walk through Time Square. The three stars are strictly for the atmosphere and NOT the service. The rooftop closes at 1am and we arrived around 12:15am. I get it, we arrived late but the bar was open for another 45min. We were blatantly ignored for 15min as the wait staff serviced other patrons around us and walked right past us. We were never acknowledged so my husband finally went to the bar to get our drinks. This review is for the rooftop bar on The Knickerbocker Hotel! 5 stars for location. 5 stars for ambience. 5 stars for their sofas and plush pillows. 1 star for service - our server did nothing to accommodate 3 extra guests; no chairs etc. We had to explain how 15 people would mean better business and if all of us could not sit we would all leave. It's no like they were packed. Anyway why I was really pissed off- he did not know the drinks. I had to remind my whiskey twice. Even after that he had two glasses and he sort of gave it randomly after some hesitation! When you charge 20 $ ish for a drink you better know what they are. He also barely knew the cocktails. Overall it was a disaster. Anyway it was a happy day for us so we could care less! But not going back for sure. Amazing experience at this perfectly located roof top lounge. Celebrating my cousin's birthday and after hearing some great feedback about the St Cloud, we decide to start our night here for drink or two. We were greeted multiple times from entering into the lobby, to the elevators and a number of times once we arrived on top. The view is amazing, situated just under the new year ball. The server was so friendly continually checking in on us. The drinks were perfect. One of the managers Lisa stole the show. She gave us an exclusive tour of the entire area explaining the Knickerbocker Hotel is where the Martini was created. She engage us in pleasant conversation throughout the evening ensuring an extraordinary experience. I had some friends attending the Knicks game that I invited to join us because we didn't want to leave. It's so rare to be WOWed in this digital age but this was definitely a WOW experience. I came here mainly for the view of time square, which was okay but nothing close to amazing. This place was not high enough to get a nice view of the city, and it was blocked by other taller skyscrapers from getting a full view of time square. The service was a little chaotic, as no one was there to seat us at reception so we had to go out and grab the waiters, even though it was completely not busy when we visited. On the bright side, the drinks were pretty good and the couch was really comfy. They also had a good taste in music. Large pricey rooftop bar lounge right smack in the middle of the bright lights, and packed crowds of Times Square. The only reason we were here (emphasis on only) was to see friends who happen to be staying at the modern inside, Beaux-Arts-facade outside, designed Knickerbocker Hotel. The views are quite impressive and the space does expand the entire roof. There's ample comfy seating all around in groups of steel grey sofas with plenty of throw pillows. Drinks and appetizers will set you back a few Benjamins. Be aware, 18% gratuity is automatically added to the check. The service was smooth, friendly, never intrusive. I really wanted to love this bar. The ambiance, vibe, and view were amazing. The place was classy. The drinks were strong. However, the service was atrocious. We didn't have a server come to our table for about a half hour after we got there and asked the host about it. That wasn't a huge deal. What was a big deal is that the manager was trying to rush us out incredibly rudely before closing and around closing time. A server came to take our last call order about 10 minutes before closing. Then, the manager came a few minutes later before our drinks had arrived and told us we had seven minutes to leave (this was at 10:53). We told him that we didn't even have our last round of drinks. Given that, he assured us that he wouldn't rush us. About 10 minutes later, he comes over to rush us out. When we reminded him that he said he wouldn't rush us, he told us that was a half hour ago (which was a lie). The bar closed at 11pm, we didn't get a last drink until a few minutes before 11, and he was rushing us out at 11:10. The time was 11:14 when we were waiting for the elevator to go downstairs. I have worked in the service industry and could never fathom rushing people out like this and definitely not doing it so rudely. The cherry on top was when we were waiting by the elevators for our friend to come back from the bathroom, and he told us that we needed to get in the open elevator and leave. I can say that we had incredibly lovely service at the other bars we went to, so it is disappointing to have this be such a low point in the night. This bar had such nice potential, and especially for the price point, it is doing itself a huge injustice to allow such terrible service. read more

I booked a small 10 person event in less than 24 hours for my boyfriends 41st Birthday in the Broadway Pod and Jenny was a great help and provided all the details and pricing in a timely fashion. Despite having an email confirmation proving that we had agreed on a certain space for my event, the Manager on duty (Murat) told me there had been a misunderstanding and we actually did not have the entire space reserved. The manager was extremely rude and did not try to problem solve at all. We spent over $3000 for the event and the space we wanted was not being used by another party. After MUCH back & forth as my guests were arriving, he RELUCTANTLY agreed to give me the space originally promised. He got the event off to the wrong foot and gave me a hard time over nothing! When customers are paying $3000 for a 30 person event, they should be accommodating and helpful -- not obnoxious and arrogant. read more

On our second visit, we sat outside and while they have heaters, we were cold and not properly dressed for the wind so we went inside and sat at the bar. We are so happy we opted to sit at the bar because we became acquainted with a lovely bartender named Lauren. She was awesome and the drinks she made us were perfection! I have the unfortunate task of working in Times Square. I'm not usually in the office but I was last week and my coworker and I decided to grab drinks here since it was close. We typically go at least a few blocks from TSQ but we were lazy. MISTAKE. This place is everything that is wrong with NYC (coming from someone who has lived here my entire life). Service is abysmal, unfriendly, and incompetent. Saw my waitress twice in 3 hours. Any other place I would've had 6+ drinks but only managed 2 rounds here. Our drinks were empty for about 30 min and I wanted to GTFO, I had to wave my hand in a managers face to get my check. Drinks are $25 and not that good. My drink had a ton of chopped vegetable and fruit in it (as I had anticipated) and I asked for a straw. THEY DONT HAVE STRAWS. For $25. For real !?!?!? Chairs and tables are cramped together - this is NOT a nice rooftop. Feels like a back alley, just higher up. Cigarettes are allowed on the roof so everything reeks of smoke. As you would expect for an establishment as described so far, filled to the brim with trashy tourists. Go LITERALLY anywhere else in Manhattan for a view. Refinery rooftop etc. I'm much happier cracking a beverage hanging with my bodega guy for $25. Not sure if Ive ever given a place 1 star but this certainly warrants it. The only reason I give St. Cloud 4 stars is because of the view. Online, it states that you are able to make reservations. This is not true. I called to make one and was informed they do not take reservations. This was okay because our group arrived and was able to seat us anyway. We ordered several appetizers from their menu. Burrata, shishito peppers, yuka fries, and a charcuterie board. The only thing I really enjoyed was the burrata and the group actually ordered it again. The yuka fries were hard and didn't have any flavor. They didn't give enough of the sauce on the side compared to the yuka fries that were provided (which still was not a lot). The drinks are ridiculously expensive. $24 for a small cocktail! No thanks. Other then the almost less than average food experience, the view is really what brings people here. It is quite lovely. Yes, St. Cloud is expensive but so is every other rooftop bar in Times Square. Don't let price prevent you from enjoying delicious cocktails and savory bar bites. My faves of the $19 cocktails are the sweet and refreshing Iris and Ivy, and definitely try a martini. Our waitress informed us that the martini was founded at this hotel. Not sure I buy it but the off the menu options are fantastic. We tried an espresso martini and a house signature gin based martini too. My drinks paired well with the Cuban Cigars, similar to a Cuban sandwich in an egg roll; black bean hummus jar, served in mason jar with pita and veggies on the side; and the tostones, fried plantains with a small helping of guacamole. All were very yummy!!! Now for the view, it's not the best I've ever seen but it was sufficient plus the food and drinks were great so that outweighed the lack luster view. Final thought: have a visit and if you like cigars, visit the cigar lounge to enjoy a stogie. read more
