Hey guys... I slipped and heard a crack... so decided urgent care was the best option... Made my way to CARE NOW Urgent Care... Guess what? NO doctors here... just a nurse practitioner who thinks she knows the system well enough to do as she pleases.... Leoa talks like she's eating muscle relaxers for breakfast and looks like a retired roughneck who picked up nursing after a failed career of riding shotgun to real do tors.... Anyways... I did what I am supposed to do, called to find an urgent care in network... Boom... this place showed up as an option... kinda far from me but I made the journey because I called first and they said they had X-rays and a tech on duty.. I get here the X-ray tech doesn't do spinal X-rays... and the NP says X-rays are outdated and to get a CAT scan... that's right... so my insurance will get billed for zero treatment... Long story short... this place is a clown show.. These guys are playing doctor and severely limited by their subpar knowledge and motivation and general team dynamic... I guess these guys are good for jaw cramps and cold sores... What could they improve: 1) doctor should have a meeting at beginning of shift, include the front desk and review what care is available... that way when people call they get the answers they need to find a different place... 2) don't talk down to patients because you can't provide basic care... it's condescending and unprofessional... 3) don't tell the patient "don't slip" on the way out the door while your under qualified x-ray tech giggles... 4) empathize and be compassionate... Little does Leoa know some of us have medical training and can have an intelligent conversation when it comes to self care... FastMed basically stole $100 from me I went in for a Covid test in (Feb 21). Everything was pretty standard: I handed them my insurance card, filled out the paperwork, and waited to see the nurse/PA. After my test results, I told the front desk I haven't yet paid my co-pay. The clerk shrugged and said if there was any payment required I would receive a bill in the mail. I never received a bill in the mail, an email, or a phone call so I assumed it must be have been free with government Covid relief. Fast-forward a year and a half later and I go in for a check-up and I'm told I have an outstanding payment of $300. I was asked to pay at least half before seeing the PA and advised to call the home office to sort out the details. So, I paid $150 thinking I would get it back. Come to find out, I gave them my dental card my mistake. No one caught it and I confirmed with my insurance that it is a common mistake but can easily be cross-referenced to the correct card. When I called FastMed, it was confirmed that NO contact was ever attempted. They didn't even send my outstanding bill to collections. The FastMed finance manager immediately wrote off the other half and said he would work with the insurance company and upper management. Of course, UCH insurance said no to a year-and-a-half old payout. After two months of back and forth, FastMed decided to give me the finger and keep the $150 (of which $50 was the co-pay). The amount of potential future money they lost from my visits alone with this debacle highlights some serious incompetencies within the organization. Sigh... SMH. So here we are, one of MANY reviews, letters, and complaints. After using FastMed for years, I recommend everyone steer clear of this place. read more

This facility changed ownership last year and I was hoping for it to improve. It has not and even gotten worse. The receptionist is absolutely clueless when it comes to insurance. She doesn't know how to properly verify insurance. I have multiple forms of health insurance and she tried to charge me $130 for a copay! I pulled up both my plans and showed her I shouldn't have any copay or a $30 copay at the most. she likes to argue with all the patients as I wasn't the only one. In fact, there were 4 other patients that came in while I waited and they all had issues with her and their insurance. So because she won't finish checking anyone in until she has verified the insurance the wait time is horrendous. This entire experience has happened twice to me and the others in the lobby waiting. My advice is avoid this place and just drive to Hutto to be seen at an urgent care facility. The receptionist alone is going to tank this place. read more

Absolute shake-down. Told by front desk that my simple COVID rapid test would come at no charge to me after insurance. FastMed then bills me $300. After lengthy discussions with my insurance provider, I am told there should be no cost to me, and that the balance would be covered. Months later, I receive a letter from collections for $140. Nice folks. Check in online (including paperwork). Think school nurse... for $50. Anything more serious than scrapes, bumps, bruises & sniffles = "You should go to the ER. I took my wife in for what turned out to be bronchitis. I went to the pharmacy nearby, and they had no prescriptions for her. While in line, I called to find out what happened, and the person on the phone said "we don't have anyone on the schedule by that name". Then another person came on the line to say they would take care of it right away. I came back roughly an hour later to pick up the prescriptions and still nothing. I drove back to the clinic to inquire about why it wasn't there, and they said they called it in three times. Finally, the pharmacist asked what my wife's birthday was and it was only off by more than a month. Her name was misspelt. Not a well oiled operation. Bottom line is I had to go to the Pharmacy three times and it was the pharmacy that solved the mystery. read more

Was refused medical attention. They insisted that my husband and I wear masks and my husband pointed out that they weren't wearing them until we walked in, and the receptionist was wearing hers below her nose. After he pointed this out, a lady (PA?) from the back yelled out that they would not see us. That wearing a mask was the rule. I had made an appointment online, and they had already swiped my husband's credit card for $199. I wasn't ill; I was there for an injury to my ribs and already having trouble breathing. They issued a credit to the card and we left. I will never return. From what we now know about masks, I will not trust the medical expertise of anyone who insists that I wear one. I was so lucky to be able to get an appointment at FastMed, especially since many other similar services won't take my insurance. They were really kind and I didn't wait long at all. read more

I have been looking for a medical team that would listen to my symptoms, be courteous, accurate and friendly. After spending the morning trying to find a clinic, my wife suggested this location in Taylor, a 20 minute drive from my home. It was incredibly good. I have been ill for days and I dreaded the encounter. It started off with superior help from Jamie who manages the front office. Helpful, friendly, genuine and caring. The nurse who took my vitals, whose name escapes kept up the trend. Attentive and engaging. Then the PA, Bridget Strong, came in and impressed me with her depth of knowledge, engaging wit, kindness and thoroughness. The radiologist who wears multiple hats amazingly well is call Elizabeth. Turns out our families are from the same area of Central Texas. So caring and also engaging. Frankly, this is the best I have experienced from all of my medical visits. Several issues with this place. Went in with 3 kids and was drilled and harassed on why I would not Covid test them. They would not even look at my three month old. And after talking about my two six year olds having stomach pains they could not assess them anymore because they might have appendicitis. And was still hung up on me getting them covid tested which the test cost a little over $200 each. Would not recommend this place. Stay away. read more

Then they told me stitches aren't ready to come out was told to come back in 3 days it'll still be a free removal . Don't waste your time or money. If you have a medical issue go to an ER or make the drive to ARC. I went in to have a small bump which I thought was a cyst near my eye looked at. I asked the front counter staff if it was something the clinic could handle and was told yes. I was checked in and sent to a room where a dr looked at it and said it was "probably a lipoma" and there was nothing they could do stating I'd need to go to a different dr. I was charged my copay then later received a collection bill even though I never got a regular bill? Poor service and even worse billing/account management. Brought my son in about a month ago. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful and was able to immediatialy process our insurance. Despite it being around 8 pm and close to closing time they did everything necessary for my son who was ultimately diagnosed with a virus. PA was friendly older guy I didn't catch the name of any of the staff that night regretfully because they deserve recognition for their awesome service! So glad I gave this place a second chance. read more

The physician on duty talked to me like I was stupid for bringing my 6 year old daughter in for a headache. He was so rude to me and made me feel like a bad parent. He said if she has headaches take her to the eye doctor. He is not at all polite. We've seen him before and he has a poor demeanor in how he treats patients and parents. I have driven by this place a few times and having three kids always thought to myself... I wonder if I will ever end up there? Well... I did... and I can't stress enough how much I LOVE this place. All the staff were kind and professional and sincere about my kiddos issue. We never felt rushed out the door and probably asked about 50 questions! Dr. Whitney Harrison - Birmingham was upfront and honest about what to expect with our concerns. I do not recall the names of the other staff working tonight but they were ALL great! To be honest... I wish this was a private practice so Dr. Whitney Harrison - Birmingham and her staff could be our family doctor! This office deserves more than 5 stars! read more

I took my 78 year old father in on Monday for respiratory problems, primarily constant coughing, but also congestion, drainage. The PA (Matt?) said it was allergies. Both my dad and I said "we don't think so, he has allergies, this is different". Matt proceeded to tell us he had treated "dozens" of patients with the same complaint over the last few weeks. The next day, on Tuesday, my dad was admitted to the ICU at S&W Round Rock with a severe case of Influenza Type A. LISTEN TO YOUR PATIENTS - THEY KNOW THEMSELVES BETTER THAN YOU DO. Makes me wonder if "dozens" of other people were treated for allergies, that really had the flu!!! read more

Had to go in for severe case of poison ivy - Receptionist very friendly, professional and efficient!. Check in and insurance process very easy to complete. Didn't have to wait long and I got to see the nurse and PA, Matt Prewitt. He was very professional, listened to my symptoms, and gave treatment options. Time at the clinic was less than 30 minutes, and the prescription was filled at the pharmacy quickly. I am doing much better now, and will definitely use this clinic again. read more
