St. Elmo survived Prohibition by selling into a soda shop and also if you know the regularly patronized by celebrities such as John Wayne and Charlie Sheen in Bisbee. This Dive bar could be one of the oldest bars in Arizona since 1902. I've been a couple times and they never let me down. This is the dive bar and you can mingle with the locals. Though, I've met so many Europeans such as young German, French couples chilling at this place. You can mingle with Hitching post Saloon peeps here too. ( Hitching post saloon is another dive bar in Bisbee ) Once, I ran into Pool Tournament at this place. Dog friendly, by means that no one gives a shit if you bring your dogs inside the bar. Arizona courts have held that the constitutional right to "bear arms" is qualified and subject to reasonable regulation by the state, so don't be surprised if you see open carry in town or near the pub. Why do we love the dive bar? Because no perverts ( regardless of male or female creepers ) who are looking a casual sex just for fun to "USE" you. We all know this is a community space, you're safe and sound. Recently recognized as the historic dive bar by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Still Tourists not heavy town. Great local bar! It does look rough but that's what makes this bar fun. The inside is hilarious with the bumper stickers everywhere and signs. Bar tender was fun to talk with and must try a shot of the local Agua shot. Just ask, they know what it is. Had a DJ later that night when we went back and had a great time at this bar. St. Elmos is such an AMAZING gem. You just don't get places like this anymore and just like almost every place in Bisbee, it is crazy dog friendly. I've lived in Phoenix for about 17 years and had only briefly passed through once, and didn't really stop to see anything. Years passed and I kind of forgot about it, during that time we always went up north to Flagstaff, Prescott, Pinetop, or Greer areas. One day I opened the New Times and there was an article on Bisbee and knew that we had to go. I quickly booked an AirBnB for the weekend and we are off to spend a weekend there with our dogs. Best. Decision. Ever It was a chill weekend around town so the locals came out of hiding to enjoy the weather. I've never fallen in love with a group of people so fast in my life. Every one had a great story to tell, and I felt safe- even during the middle of the night, walking through town, drunk AF. I've been back several times since then, and will always think that Bisbee and their establishments are the best in the state, and best in the USA for dog moms. read more

Favorite bar in town! Incredibly comfortable, cheap drinks, friendly people, (staff and guests) good music, either live or from the jukebox, and pool. It has everything. I met my other half at this bar a few years back, and we visit it often for the wonderful atmosphere. Darcy is amazing, great personality, funny, personable. Truly, she's a gem. Ask her to make you a "Mexican coffee" or a "cucumber on your face" drink or shot version. I would like to add that I am an avid Bloody Mary drinker, and though I will drink almost any Bloody Mary in front of me, the one that Jackie made for me tonight was EASILY one of the best I've ever had! We came here because it was loud and looked crowded. Little did we know they had one of the best bartenders ever. The drinks were amazingly, superbly strong, when we mentioned it, the bartender, Fallon, called me a pussy, deservedly so. Yet we've drank at many gay bars so maybe not so much. A strong pour... The bar has incredible detail and a great sense of humor and history. Great boisterous crowds. And Fallon is an awesome, no bullshit, excellent bartender who happens to be incredibly beautiful. Love Elmo! Only complaint was the Bartender.... but it was her first night. She didn't know if they had an energy drink...thank god for the local who knew that she had it on the fountain. Kilowatt to be exact. My husband order a chilled shot and we had to teacher her how to make it. Then he order his favorite drink Killowatt with Crown and she made a crown and coke. We went on to order several more drinks and I never got my Angry Orchard Beer, to case my fireball shot but o' well I didn't need that beer after all. I could understand on a busy night but it was just 4 of us in the bar. Got a kick out of the adult machine, 1st off don't let your kids play this machine and second, why are your kids in a bar in the first place? Visited a few times on my 1 month stay in Bisbee. Overall had a great time. Little daunting at first, since it was mainly Harley guys and rift raft to be honest. Being a fan of dive bars though, and since it was Arizonas oldest bar, I had to do it. Overall the impression by the people was somewhat misleading. Everyone ended up being really friendly, and I saw a lot of variance in the clientele who came and went. Hipsters, lbgt, Harley, old, young, artistic and more. I did get to see 2 older (over 60) guys get in a fight out front one day (yes a Monday afternoon) while I was just out walking my dogs in the area. So, its not a place for faint of heart or looking for class. It does have super great drinks though, heavy pour for a great price. My singles were doubles easily. Definitely worth checking out, I've yet to try it on a weekend night. I'm not sure I'm rowdy enough, but might be worth the experience. read more
