Ok let's be honest about this Marina I just bought a boat this year and the owner is a complete…read morenightmare he's the farthest thing from a people person I've watched him have screaming matches with people who pay to have their boats docked. His girlfriend the "new manager" gets drunk and gets very touchy(kissing guest, rubbing touching, I even seen her jump up and wrap her legs around a guy who then says what are you doing I have a wife and sitting on a guys lap) fun is one thing being drunk at work is another. The bathrooms were clean terribly I mean mopping the floor with dirt literally. The marina is completely a ghost town due to the marina owner I'm not saying party everyday but it's the weekend in the middle of the summer and it's hardly anyone at the marina because everyone is afraid to upset the owner you have to walk on eggshells around him they don't want to allow you to have gatherings at you boat so no "dock parties" they hardly do any events the only saving grace is Matt the helper and Shawn the mechanic the rest of the staff a complete disaster. Seriously I'd give a worse review if I could. I have video evidence if 3 guys filling up gas in the middle of the night on several occasions more than 1 boat brought this up to the owners girlfriend who said it was fine and they know about it but that's illegal.

The whole experience was super well organized -- from booking to check-in, everything ran smoothly and on time. Huge shoutout to Brad, who led our tour. He struck that perfect balance between being friendly, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. You could tell he genuinely enjoys what he does -- he shared fun bits of Detroit history and local trivia as we paddled, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and included no matter their experience level. A few of us were total beginners, and he made it easy (and fun) to get the hang of it. The route itself was beautiful -- great views of the skyline, calm water, and just enough challenge to keep things interesting. It was the perfect mix of relaxation and light activity, and a really unique way to see the city from a new angle. Would absolutely recommend Detroit River Sports for any team outing or weekday/end adventure. If you can, ask for Brad -- he made the day.

Detroit River Sports offers several options to accommodate small groups and individuals.They provide all equipment needed for the tour. The guided tour is about 2hours. The staff are fantastic and very informative. I'm not an expert kayaker but was able to easily navigate the waters. The Detroit River is a bit challenging to navigate due to the current, but the guides are there to help if needed. I learned a lot along the way as we stopped periodically to learn some history about Detroit and the homes we encountered on the canals. I had a blast and want to buy my own kayak!

This is a review for a rental and repair, not a tour. I was biking with friends on the Riverfront…read morewhen one of them got a flat. We thought going to Wheelhouse to rent a bike or get the tire repaired seemed like a good idea. We showed up just as they were opening at 11am. The employees pull out the rental bikes and lock them up as part of their opening routine. My friend and I were waiting off to the side when the employee came over and said we were in their spot for their bikes. Ok, so we moved to a different location, she came over and said you're still in our spot. Ok, we moved further away, only to have her come over and tell us to move again. I get they have spots to put the bikes, but after the 2nd time, couldn't she have just pointed out a place for us to wait instead of telling us to move yet again? It was pretty irritating. So they open at 11, but apparently they cannot help you until they've pulled out all their inventory and locked it up outside the shop. We asked about a rental and she just kept saying - I'm busy - I can't help you until I'm done here. We asked well how long are you going to be? She didn't know, but just kept saying I'll get to you when I'm done. We said - well what about getting the tire fixed - how long do you think that might take? Same answer. Don't bug me, I'm busy pulling all the bikes out, and I don't know. Wow. What a crazy process. You show up when they open - but then stand around for 25 minutes while they prep the shop. Maybe do that before your opening time so you can actually HELP a customer when they show up at opening time. Finally, they were done and my friend asked about renting a bike and they showed her the options. She picked one and they got her set up. She was irritated because she's a seasoned biker and they treated her like an idiot. Again, some basic communication with her would have let them know she knew how to bike and that would have helped with set up. Finally, they agreed to fix her flat while we were gone. When we returned her flat was fixed, we returned the rental and were on our way. We were all really frustrated at the poor customer service and kept laughing about how poorly they handled the situation and the long wait just to get waited on. The bike was fine and the flat was fixed, thus the 2 stars.

They have 2 picnic shelters that looked almost brand new. The grounds crew came out before our event, and ensured everything was clean at the site. In regard to waterfowling, people often dump on this place because:…read more 1) The open marsh areas can get super crowded--not a great thing for a sport involving shotguns. Get out there early if you want a good spot, but don't be surprised if someone motors in ten minutes before shooting time and sets up 50 yards from you. 2) You will run into slob hunters: people who skybust, crowd your zone in the managed areas, try to bully you out of your spot, call constantly (and badly) thus driving off ducks working your spread, shoot grebes, seagulls, and swans, and dump trash in parking lots. 3) A lot of time the hunting can be poor. 4) There are only about four zones in the managed area that are usually productive. 5) Thefts from cars aren't unusual at the boat launches, and when you get to one in the wee hours of the morning, you can run into some sketchy characters. But you have to take the bad with the good. There is probably not a better public waterfowling area near Detroit. It's accessible for walk-in hunters as well as those with boats. There's some great habitat and the staff there works hard maintaining and improving it. Hit this place during a migration and the hunting can be fantastic. And while the slobs are always out, you'll meet some great people there too: very skilled hunters, guys who will help you get your boat in and out, even some who invite you to join their party. More often than not other hunters are sportsmanlike and friendly, despite those sometimes sour a hunt there. If Pte. Mouillee were farther from a major population center it likely wouldn't have many of the problems it does. But waterfowlers in Detroit wouldn't enjoy nearly the opportunities they have thanks to it.

I only go here for fishing, and it's a very peaceful place sometimes. It's not crowded with kids…read moreor other park goers, because nobody ever goes back there except to fish or boat. On weekends, it's hard to find a place to even fish, because it's so crowded. There's always a flow of boats coming and going from the docks. I like that you can pull up right to the water and fish, so it's convenient to listen to the radio in your car and not lug supplies all around. I've been here many times with a cooler full of beer and haven't had a problem with that. The waters can be somewhat clogged with grass, but there are some good fish in there.
