I visited this rooftop bar for a special event. I will say that it was a bit difficult to access the hotel- there are 2 driveways but if you drive into one of them, it is blocked off by a dumpster. It is hard to turn around as there isn't much room. Thankfully the correct entrance was nearby. We pull in and there was only the option of valet parking. Luckily we had arrived early so there was still plenty of parking left. However, I spoke to someone at the event who had visited previously and that parking filled up- they had to park down the street. So be cautious of the parking situation. The hotel was very clean and bright upon arrival. We took the elevator up to the top and it was well decorated. The bartenders were friendly and waited on people fast. The view was very pretty over the skyline of Buckhead. I went in one of the bathrooms and it was also very clean and well-kept. It was a very pleasant experience. The only complaint, which this might be out of their control, but one side of the hotel faced the street. The building next door was having construction done so it wasn't a very scenic view. read more

So this is a really good rooftop spot that you definitely need at least one time if you're around Buckhead. I've been a couple of times and I have not been disappointed. The bartenders are always nice and friendly and they work with you as far as what you're asking for when you order a cocktail. Typically I think you should know what you're asking for but they will explain the menu to you in great detail. Depending on what day have going on as far as the business of the restaurant, you may have to wait. I have to wait a few times because the bar was just way too full to handle that many people. That's not the end of the world to where I would not come back, because that's just business. Especially at a spot that could be as popular as this. I tried the truffle fries the last time I went and they were amazing. I've had a old-fashioned, because if you see my reviews before you know that that is where I gravitate toward, and I have had a Kentucky mule. I don't remember all the things that I've had but those stick out of my head. And they were all good! But honestly the thing that sticks out about this spot is the views. Yes you can have a bar, but the cityscape and the city skyline is amazing. In the bar is actually a lot bigger than you think. You have to go through the Sylvian hotel and go upstairs, and you will come off the elevator and immediately see the bar but if you go outside it basically wraps around so you can see a lot more of the city. It's a beautiful view. You can have drinks anywhere but you can't get a good view in every establishment you go to so that is, to me, the biggest selling point. read more

Rooftop bars seem to come and go in Buckhead but it looks like St. Julep is here to stay - and I'm not mad about it! I've stopped by a couple times now after dinner at the Betty and it's a great spot to grab a cocktail to end the night. I believe you can make a reservation for a table to ensure you have a seat on the busy rooftop. The bartenders are pretty knowledgeable and can basically make you anything you want from the bar. I'm a big fan of their espresso martinis but when they're busy (like they were on my most recent visit), I settled for a Tito's and soda. The rooftop gets super busy on weekend evenings, particularly my most recent visit on a Friday night when it appeared to be post-wedding/rehearsal dinner. If you want a great view of the city, definitely recommend stopping by St. Julep! read more

For starters, the view was simply OK. nothing spectacular. There's a huge building that covers half the view. The drinks are overpriced, I'd understand if the view was spectacular but the drinks/service/view doesn't add up. You can park across the street instead of paying for valet. But you still pay pay a premium price. We were there for less than an hour & half & paid $10. They don't validate parking. Drinks = NOT good. The drinks were super sweet & I could taste the excess amount of simple syrup. The drinks are not worth the price at all. Super sweet/syrupy & service is mediocre. They could do so much better. We came tonight on a Sunday at 5 PM & only 2 couples were there but they only had 3 working heaters. They said the rest didn't work. Overall disappointing. Drinks aren't worth it. View is mediocre. Cool bar on top of the Kinston Sylvan Hotel. Views are great. Went with my wife on a date night. Bar tender was helpful and easy to approach. Drink were good - I recommend the 13th Floor (their old fashioned). The other worth mentioning is the Belle of the Ball. It was good but a bit sweet (we were surprised. Plenty of seating and comfortable in a good sized space. The reason for three stars. Music is way way over the top. I noticed people moving around to try and get where they could even hear each other. My suggestion to mgmt is maybe take out one or two of the speakers in a corner or something to provide a space for people to socialize as opposed to yelling at each other and saying "what?" The whole time - I noticed younger and older folks doing that..... So I highly recommend for the views (sunset was killer) , the experience and the drinks - if you are looking to communicate with your group - there's gonna be a challenge. ..... read more

tl;dr extreme service issues marred otherwise decent experience Cute space. I sat at the bar and was ignored by the bartenders for a while and it took a while to be acknowledged (and I do think they skipped me a few times to take people that walked up), but it was a very busy night and once I was acknowledged the bartenders were all very friendly. It was busy so there was a lot of confusion with orders. They accidentally gave out the same table number to two tables so our food went to a different table and we didn't know it. The other table sent the food back and we never received it. Even after the mistake was discovered it was over 45 minutes until we got our food. The other table 13 also got their food a good 20-30 minutes before us. We waited an hour an a half for tacos and fries. They have a very pared down menu so it shouldn't be that hard to quickly make a few items but apparently only one person was working food? Which is odd considering they had an event planned. Fish tacos were very tasty. Drinks were very good. Fries nothing special. Very little Parmesan or truffle. Chicken taco stunningly flavorless. Brisket taco not very good either. Even after all that wait only ate half of the chicken and brisket because they didn't taste good. Tacos are all well filled but hard to eat with the way the toppings are piled. Do not order if on a date lol. Should probably come with utensils. Normally you'd expect something to be comped or even for them to bring out something easy and complementary like chips and salsa while we waited but nothing. 2 hours for overpriced bar food and zero attempt to make things right. Especially if you're charging 20% autograt in order to "save customers time" (I'm fine with that as I always tip 20% anyway, it's just ironic that that was the explanation given for the gratuity) you should probably attempt basic customer service. Like I said, they were slammed. It's probably a fine enough experience when it's not busy. If there weren't the service issues I probably would've given 4 stars. But basic customer service says to apologize for mistakes and comp something as a show of good faith. read more

I don't think I've ever thought of rooftops in Atlanta, but Kimpton Sylvan hotel has been an awesome find and I have been taking all my friends here, especially after a satisfying meal at the Betty downstairs. All the drinks, view of the skyline, and the atmosphere is great here. I do try to avoid the prime times and usually go before 7PM before it gets too crowded. My favorite drink are the Southern Rose and depending on the bartender, Hey Ya tastes like pina colada. Also, all the snacks are pretty tasty especially the pork rinds and the chili mango soft serve. Would recommend St. Julep for a night out in Buckhead! FYI, it's a valet only parking so would recommend bringing cash. read more

It's Rooftop SZN! I was happy to experience this brand new rooftop vibe in Atl. The doors opened on 03.24.21 @ 4:00 PM, my family arrived at 5. Upon arrival the pleasant valet attendant advised our parking would be $10 versus $22 if we have it validated. We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival. The venue and views are absolutely gorgeous. PROS Beautiful Space Views Service Music Vibe CONS Bland drinks were way to expensive (we paid $16 & $18 per drink). I have no problem paying for drinks that are worth it. Food - Don't come hungry. The only food offered is "corndogs" ranging $8-&9. I just couldn't believe management didn't think the menu over a bit more. This is Atlanta, at the very least, provide a few more options such as sliders, lemon pepper wings, small salad etc... If you don't eat corndogs, popcorn, mixed nuts, pork rinds or Szechuan tots...you're completely out of luck. I literally would have stayed for hours, but I was hungry and wanted great tasting drinks. St Julep has so much potential. I truly hope they add more items to the menu, adjust the prices on the cocktails or actually serve cocktails that are worthy of the current price point. I'm willing to return for a tasting before management unveils a new and improved menu. read more

The St. Julep is located on the rooftop of the Kimpton Sylvan hotel in Buckhead. When you arrive expect to valet ($5 per vehicle) and ask to be directed towards the St.Julep. This hotel has a total of three bars/restaurants (St. Julep, Willow Bar and The Betty) To get to the rooftop you'll have to take the elevator to the top floor. I'll caveat and say there is only one way up or down, so sometimes you have to wait in line to exit or enter. When you enter don't be surprised by the size of the rooftop. As you go to the right and walk down the aisle there are more seats and couches. You get a decent view and when the outdoor DJ is there the vibes are great. They sell carnival type foods at this restaurant (hotdogs, pretzels etc) and that's the only reason why I'll give it 3 stars. I wasn't expecting that. read more

My best friend and I came her after dinner on a Friday for another drink and because it was nice outside compared to the Houston heat I've been dealing with lol. The vibe was chill and since we arrived early not a lot of people were out. They have comfy seating and a nice but small menu for drinks and snacks. I ordered a glass of wine which came out in a really cute glass. The waitress was really sweet and was able to give my friend options for different drinks she may like. When we drove up to the hotel we were immediately greeted by the friendly valet drivers. A friend of mine was driving so I don't know how much the parking cost or even if there was a self parking option (my bad). After dropping off the car we entered the lobby and took the elevator to the roof. Soon as you get off you quickly see the great city views and stylish layout. There were indoor and outdoor bars with plenty of seating. The menu had many specialty drinks and a good assortment of beers. I ended up ordering a Creature Comforts Tropicalia. As you look around there are great views from all over the property. This is definitely a cool place to grab a drink and I will definitely be back. read more

Atlanta's lack of rooftop bars results in frequent desperation and locals willing to accept even the most basic establishments that begin to appear in the city. It is a very odd phenomenon, especially considering the vast amount of pleasant weather in the evenings year round. Nonetheless, it has been an ongoing struggle in this city well before the pandemic. On top of it, the evolution of Buckhead shoppes has consumed and transformed much of the area, despite that change happening at a much slower pace than expected. St Julep is very disconnected from that evolution, requiring a walk along a narrow sidewalk to get there and losing the vibe of gorgeous alleys that have been built around the plaza. The scene is also profoundly different, with mostly younger crowd from outside the perimeter and an obvious loss of sophistication that engulfs much of the Buckhead shoppes area. That is not necessarily a bad thing, as St Julep feels wilder, louder and less pretentious. The disappointment started off immediately after ordering their house signature cocktail, the St Julep, which feels like drinking simple syrup out of the bottle or perhaps slightly diluted with ice. The odd thing I told the bartender later is that simple syrup is not even listed as ingredient in the menu where that cocktail is listed. Regardless, it was one of the worst cocktails that one could create. I did return it and the bartender took initiative to remake it, but made it with Old Forrester instead of Woodford Reserve as once again listed on the menu. Come on, you can't just substitute a half price whiskey and think it's going to pass. However, this is the kind of place where it does pass as most patrons won't know the difference and the rest just won't pay attention. Regardless of that, St Julep rooftop has a place in Atlanta. When seeking out an lower class, provincial atmosphere within the city, this is likely a decent spot, but the general bar attitude and attention seems to be lacking quite severely. read more

This place is cute with good views of Buckhead. There is a beautiful indoor bar that opens to the outside via garage doors. The outside has lots of seating along the balcony with the views and there is also an outside bar and a seating area with a few couches and chairs. Ordered the Bowtie and the Hey Ya! cocktails to drink and the Szechuan Tots and the Diplomat Corndog to eat. The drinks were on point and the food was quite tasty. Nice rooftop bar for friends to meet and hang out or catch up. There's a parking deck across the street or valet as an option. Taking the elevator to the roof opens up into a nice indoor area before stepping out to the patio. The view is decent but the real value is in the cocktails provided. I went off menu to see if they knew my favorite cocktail, the Aviation, which is a gin based cocktail with crème de violette that gives it a beautiful purple color. The bartender was very knowledgeable and was happy to chat with me while she worked her magic. Overall I recommend for a casual date to grab drinks before dinner. Popped in here for "dinner" with a friend on a Monday night and it was pretty quiet. A few people on the rooftop patio and a few people at the bar. I ordered the corn dog flight -- because I was starving. The classic was good. The green chile was probably my favorite. The honey/cheese was great but the cheese was entirely too thick for my liking. I almost choked! If these hotdogs were a bit more charred, I think I would've enjoyed them more. I sent my tots back to be remade because they were so salty. The 2nd time they were better. The view is cute and the cocktails are cute. Apparently, there's a DJ on Saturdays. Valet was $10 with the validation (if you're there between 0-3 hours) if you're there after 3 hours, it's $22. Nonetheless, cute! read more

We chose to do valet parking thinking it was complimentary up to 3 hours because that's what the sign at the valet stand said, but we later came to find out that it's actually $10 for 0-3 with validation. The rooftop is really nice. Smaller and less seating than I had imagined, but a great rooftop nonetheless. You'll be able to see the sunset right next to the outdoor bar area. The drinks - more expensive than I thought. The bowtie drink was $18. After tax and tip, it was over $20. Overall, a fun vibe because there are not many rooftop bars in ATL, but to its pricey-ness I don't know how much I'll pay a visit. read more

The view was great. The staff was nice. But even better were how delicious both of our drinks were. We ordered the Szechuan tots and I've never had such amazing fans unique tots in my life. We came on a Sunday early evening and didn't have a problem getting a seating area outside but they were pretty full. There be valet parking for 5$ which seemed reasonable but also on Sunday there is free street parking in buckhead so we were able to use that instead. read more

First stop or the night for cocktails. I wasn't impressed with the menu prior to coming here, but my friends wanted a rooftop with a city view in Buckhead. They don't have food here, so make sure you don't come with guys that want to grub. They have plenty of tables outside and it wasn't too terribly crowded when we went. The inside bar area is very cute & decorated colorfully. I'm giving it 2/5 stars for the poor bar service. We waited 15 minutes to order a drink & 15 minutes to close... the bartenders were not slammed, but rather moved slower than molasses and shyed away from customers. The other people sitting at the bar expressed similar sentiments. The cocktails were just ok. If I'm paying $15 for a gin cocktail that's meh- I don't want to wait forever to get it. read more

The space itself is very nice, I loved the decor and furniture and the view is not bad. We had to pay $10 for valet parking (make sure you get your ticket validated at the hostess stand before you leave) and I'm not sure how much it would have been to self park or if they even have that option. For how expensive these drinks are, they should offer free parking. The drinks were extremely disappointing. Super bland. Don't let their appearance fool you. I ordered the Player's Ball and it was basically just a huge shot of straight up whiskey overflowing with ice (see pic). The ice is literally about to fall off of the cup. There was no hint of lime, raspberry or anything else that's supposed to come in the drink. My friend's St. Julep was basically a sippie cut for a kid - there was no alcohol that we could taste. We also ordered the Bowtie and it was probably the least disappointing but still not great. After tax and tip we spent $65 on 3 drinks. Should have 100% tried their beer instead.
