I wanted to like this church but I don't. They take communion every Sunday. I went up out of respect to get a wafer and discreetly put it in my pocket because I don't want to eat it. This lady came up to me and told me I had to eat it. I told her I don't have to eat it. Now these two guys come up to me and told me I have to eat it or I have to give this wafer back. If I didn't give it back to them it was theft and they were going to call the police. Are you kidding? They're going to call the cops because I put the wafer in my pocket? I think these three have some sort of leadership role in this church. It was very upsetting to me and I will never go back to this church. read more

Of all the Churches in the Tri Valley, I love St. Raymond's Masses the best. I love the fact that they recite all the traditional prayers, including the Confiteor, the Nicene Creed, and the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel, which so many other churches have done away with. The Altar is just beautiful and inspirational as are the church grounds. Another great thing about this Church is that they're eco-friendly. They post up high on a screen the hymns and prayers instead of printing them on a missal. Ever since the arrival of Fr. Eric Villa, the Church has only gotten better. He's truly gifted with kindness, wisdom, and compassion. I highly recommend this Church and community!! read more

St. Raymond's will always have a place in my heart! This is the church I grew up in! I was baptized here too :) Growing up my family would attend Saturday vigil mass at 5pm after a day of shopping lol it was weekly ritual ha ha This church went through a massive renovation about 15 years ago? It was very outdated and they added two huge monitors to show the hymn lyrics! Great investment since the church no longer needs to buy music books! I moved away from the area several years ago so I haven't been to mass here in a long time but I was able to attend mass yesterday and it's still a great church! It used to be filled with so many familiar faces but I guess the parishoners my age have all moved away and there are younger families here now. Awww! I miss this place! read more

Why the heck was I here? In-laws. While outside during mass with the other people with small kids, I noticed a young woman holding up a sign about losing her job. She was standing outside the doors to the church. One man that seemed associated with the church told her she couldn't be there and that she needed to leave. Seemed hypocritical for a church to want to remove this person rather than offer to help. But I guess this in your face kind of reality was just too much. Maybe the church could come up with a policy to address this situation differently, especially as the economy becomes less and less kind. I'm only giving it 5 stars because it's a Catholic Church and it seems wrong giving a house of the Lord any less than that. I could write it's not the most beautifully architected structure or that I didn't fancy the big projection screen showing lyrics to the hymns even though they were quite helpful or even the disdain I had for the talented one man band catering to the choir. That's not what church is about. What it is about is what I found here, a seemingly, tightly knit community with individuals that aim to show support and spread happiness for us to carry up until next week. Having just moved to Dublin (well, not really it's been months) I finally decided enough was enough and I could not and would not continue driving to San Francisco for the sake of preach that should be readily accessible at any location. After a touching ceremony I broke down into tears and was quietly praying to my deceased Auntie telling her the usual "I miss her, sorry there are moments left to share because I wrongfully assumed she'd be around long after I died" you know, the usual. In the middle of quietly weeping, minding my own business this woman taps me on my shoulder with malice I could feel from her fingertips and I looked up at her taken aback. Not only did she shoot me the look of death after I received my communion, not only did she feel the need to interrupt my moment of silence, she had the nerve to tell me "You know, you should come to church more covered up not looking like a woman walking the streets, this is the house of the Lord". What the fuck bitch? The fact that I even uttered those words describing an experience at church is a total what the fuck bitch factor in itself. And I hope she reads this review because she walked away before I could give her my two cents and assumptions that she yearned for a lay so good it'd deter ruining someone`s "precious moments". I was wearing a long sleeve off the shoulder gray sweater, Jeans and tennis shoes. I will gladly take a picture and show you my outfit and you tell me if hookers walk around like that because last time I checked, they usually walk around NAKED or wearing NEXT TO NOTHING. I also hope she reads this because thanks to her I will not be coming to this church again and I would rather walk the streets than encounter a mean spirited individual such as herself ever again, IN LIFE. I spoke to my roommates and they said her description actually fit one of the leads of the church staff. You mean that walking talking scowl was a head staff member who's supposed to promote messages of peace and promise and not frozen rage towards those making an effort to repent? My family have been parishioners@ this church for over 45 yrs. I was baptized here and had my first communion. But UNFORTUNATELY over I'd say over the past 10 yrs They have let me down time and time again. I have turned to them many times and have been turned away over and over again The women in the office are quite rude, crass and cold. I am extremely disappointed to say the LEAST! I truly believe it is all about money. They CATER to the families that have a lot of $ at the drop of a C note!! It saddens me deeply as I said my roots have been with this church. EVERY time I have seeked any spiritual guidance They turn me away. This has happened several times. And during these times I turned to St. Augustine and have been greeted with open loving arns. Even St. Micheals!! Both have been there in my time of need NO questions asked. So with a sad heart I will no longer attend or tithe here!!! Money rules this place and that isn't how it should be!! My friend visiting from out of town went to mass here, and was welcomed and really enjoyed it. It was super crowded. I had no problems with parking, picking her up or dropping her off. It's really nice that she was able to go to mass in such a community oriented, friendly church. read more

Although we like coming to mass here, this Sat. 5p mass 5/20/17, we were late and as we approached the church to go in, this lady who we later found out the name to be Connie(as she spoke near the end of mass), gave us a stare down that felt so unwelcome. How dare she judge us!!! She also intimidated us to receive communion. This is sad as we think highly of this church. When we called the ofc. to let them know, the lady referred us to talk to a priest even when we asked if she can give our comments to the priest. We asked for a direct number to the priest & she gave us Fr. Lawrence who is not back till mid June & his voicemail asked we don't leave a message & call the front office. This is just frustrating.. I have attended this church since I was a kid and I was baptized here as well. It started out as a more older looking brown interior/exterior type of church. THEN it transformed into a very modern yet kept its religious side kind of church. It has two huge TV monitors in the front that you can read off the prayers and songs off of instead of always having to go through the hassle of getting a song book, etc. Really is a smart idea I must say. The people here are so friendly and it is just a great place to attend Church. If you are from the Tri-Valley San Ramon/Dublin area, I must say it has more of a "church" atmosphere compared to St. Joan of Arc in San Ramon because St. Joan looks like a conference room, a huge one. Whereas St. Raymond still has a Church feel. Who wants to go to a church that looks like a day at work? I sure don't. read more

I always think it's funny that people go around church-shopping. If one is looking to be catered to his / her fancies or to be entertained,, then church is probably not the right place to go anyway. Someone said before me that "no church is perfect". The exact reason for that is because any church is filled with people like you and me -- perfectly imperfect! Jesus made it clear that He came for sinners just as doctors are there for sick people. I admit my sinfulness and that's why I go to church. I don't around looking for perfect church or perfect people. If I do run into "not so nice" people around church, I recognize that as a God moment for me -- a moment to pray for someone God picked out for me to pray for personally. St. Raymond is a church faithful to God's teaching with amazing priests and staff and is a tight-knit and extremely loving community. However I also know that one finds what one brings and if you want to be loved, love first. So looking for a good church? Bring a positive attitude ready to love those around you. read more

This review isn't for the church (the church is ok but not that good.) This review is for the school, THIS SCHOOL IS HORRIBLE, they hire parents as teachers and the teachers barely have education and they are not equal to each student. Also the teacher barely teach their student, example: oh 5+5= 10, ok unit exam tomorrow. My son used to go to this school and he had very low grades and when he moved to a different school he got a's and b's and at st Raymond he got f d and c's, so if you want your child to get these horrible grades go to this school and if you want your child to get better grades go to a different school. read more

I've been to this church multiple times before. The first time I went there was no construction. I went just recently this month and there was construction going on. It really limits the parking. Luckily, this church is close by to where my boyfriend lives so it is convenient to go to. BUT, the choir isn't very nice to listen to. They are good, but it would be better if there were more people in the choir. OR, the songs. They play the same songs over and over again. The church is air conditioned and has somewhat comfortable seats. The priest seems nice. The thing that stuck out to me was that in the front of the church, there was no crucifix. And if I remember correctly, in the laws there is supposed to be a crucifix in the front. That is what makes the church a church. read more
