Kudos to the awesome managers, Yule, and Daniel, including their team...as Jose, Alex and Carlos and everyone else of this team, plus this include the welcoming and sweet Darren, who greets at the door and checks ur purchases, and security Sel, who keeps everything organized and safe! Now, this place is above and beyond, and it should be a staple for all other thrift shops! We simply love their system, appreciate so much how they don't tape china as so many other thrift shops are doing, (which destroys the design or the gold or silver trim on the china and glass). When they do use tape, it is the gentle masking tape that protects the item. Their was a small challenge, which was professionally handled, and they took this incident and perfected it, so it does not happen again. This is what you call great leadership, Yule and Daniel, I am grateful how you both lead this place. All their large items as furnisher have two stickers. The larger sticker can be removed and taken to the cashier to pay for it. You only have 15 minutes to purchase the item. There was a silly man who saw me get the sticker, and I could tell he wanted the item. Went on with my business of finding treasures, and somehow, he ended up purchasing my item. It was a bit annoying that he sneaked it and convinced the pricer employee that their was no sticker and got a new sticker. I don't blame the employee, I blame the con man who knew exactly what he was doing. Now wonderful JOSE, the cashier was sincerely apologetic for the incident, and so was the lady who helped search for the person who took my table. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be to get the sweet coffee table back. What came out of it is... They simply enhance their system to give a better shopping experience for their customers! This place has been in pch for so many years, I have friends that have done community service here, but when did start hiring mid-life crises 40s-year-olds who always make comments about customers? The workers here are so delusion, me and my friends so close to putting both of the cashiers on check of how rude there was acting by talking about other customers. read more

Decent thrift store. It has lots of good thrifting buys. It's small, but packed with good merchandise. I went looking for an exercise chair. I found it within a couple of minutes and it was in great shape. I purchased it and left the store. Overall, this was a decent experience at a decent restore. I would definitely return. read more

I try to be fair to thrift businesses, but this one is not my favorite place that I've gone to. Good cause, though. The store has a security guard which makes the places vibe off, and a lot of low end home items and Knick knacks. The jewelry section needs to be repriced, because 30 for a small broken silver brooch is not it, and 20 for necklaces missing stones is not it either. Very strange experience when I stopped by here today. While me and my gf were looking at the book section, the security guard who was there went in the area and took a photo off his phone of us. When I came out to ask him why I didn't seem him initially so asked the cashier if it was normal for security to take photos of customers. The cashier seemed a bit confused and didn't give me a straight answer. Before I was going to leave I saw the security guard and asked him why he took a photo and he said he is supposed to take photos of all the sections of the store. What I don't get is why not do that when it's empty, it was odd and he didn't seem sure of his own answer. Was an overall creepy experience and I'm unsure if I will come back here. read more

I love this place. BUT there is this one black long hair supervisor/manager. She is so miserable it's all over her eyes, her face. The way she looks at you when you are asking for prices is so uncomfortable. I know she deals with all kind of people but not everyone is the same. I like to go occasionally and I see how she looks at people, have in mind these are donations and we are there supporting too. I wish for her happiness and joy. She must be in a dark place and very unhappy to release such an energy. Other than that everything is great. read more

Clean! Air conditioned! Free parking lot in the back! Nice staff! Everything is organized well! The pricing very good! I didn't buy anything today, but it was fun to browse. They have clothes, furniture, some jewelry and a separate room for books which are also organized by subject category. I will definitely return next time I am in this area! read more

It happened to me again. I spent almost 2 hours thrifting and when I made it to the counter, they took a bag of jewelry from me. I picked it up because I saw a costume snake necklace and small what nots, no big deal at the time. Two women met me at the counter and looked at the bag and said, I can't sell this to you. They began squeezing the bag, tossing it around and said no, there are silver rings in it. I said, let me see. Well, there were silver rings, about 4. They quickly took the bag from me and said, we can't sell it. One woman said, what are they doing in the back? I can't stand them for this! We can't sell it. Am I wrong? I don't work for them! This is becoming too common. Are they seeking me out? Do they do this to everyone? I'm tired and very frustrated. read more

This is one of my favorite thrift stores! The fun in thrifting is that you'll never know what you'll find... and I've often found many great items here! They have a small parking lot but I never have had issues finding parking. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I highly reccomend you add this to your list of places to visit! EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. If I had reviewed them when I first moved here a couple years ago I would've likely given them 4 stars, but until they change their prices they'll remain at 1. I'm not sure who does the pricing but they need someone else to start pricing items, because the prices are seriously outrageous for a thrift store. The same items are considerably less at Buffalo Exchange, Wasteland, etc., and that's saying something, especially when you consider that a lot of low-income people shop at thrift stores because they can't afford retail prices. FYI the really ridiculously priced items are typically tagged purple, so see if you ever notice purple go on sale cuz I haven't. I wish it were only the prices I had to complain about. I frequently come across dirty and/or stained clothes (like really large yellow pit stains). These items shouldn't even be given away for free, just trashed, but they're on the rack going for $4-6. It's gross. I can't say anything bad about the workers because they've always been pretty friendly. Bottom line, I would NOT recommend this thrift store until they lower their prices and sort through their donations properly. read more

It's a big thrift store for being in Long Beach. I looked through it and prices varied from ok to bit pricey. Lots of people shopping there, so that's good for them. I guess I just couldn't get into it. The sizes aren't separated, there wasn't much of a shoe selection and people that shop there - all kinds of people who either are in need, have money but like the hunt for the hipster or unusual items and really just the plain cheap asses (& there was tons of them) that don't want to spend and only look for cheap stuff at cheap prices with questionable uncivilized mannerisms that make me not want to go there ever again. Although it too is a good cause and they cannot control the people's rude behavior, I just don't bother going when it's like that. I do like the Highland Park location, it's actually more organized, by sizes, items, bigger selection of shoes-separated male/female & children and lots of furniture/home goods. Anyhow they have a large following of loyal customers, I won't be missed and yay for the cause. read more

Had a donation set up for them to come pick up. I told them that it was everything in the house that needed to go. "Fine - no problem"! WHAT A JOKE. 2 guys show up at the end of the day. I had spent days packing up boxes & bags of clothing and books, plus had a lot of furniture for them. these 2 looked around - and decided that they wouldn't take hardly anything because it wasn't all in one room...huh? They knew it was to be an entire house full of items. I didn't expect them to take what I hadn't gotten to pack up. But they even refused to take any of the boxes that had been packed (other than the ones that were shoe box size). Look - if you don't want people getting angry , then do what you say you are going to do. And don't hire lazy people to do this kind of work. Not a good look for you. Five stars for general relative ease when dropping off donations AND they accept books. I have donated four large carloads of things in the last three weeks, so I was a bit surprised when during the last trip we were directed to sort our bags based upon what they contained. This really wasn't possible because the bags weren't filled with that in mind. This last trip for donations was not a five star experience, but I suspect the sorting directions were the result of one employee who was trying to make HIS job easier. I was pretty angry after this experience. I generally donate to the Beacon House, but they lost their parking lot at the San Pedro location, so it is harder to donate. What I will say is the guys at the Beacon House would NEVER ask me to sort donations for them. They have always helped me unload my car. I don't expect the same here, but I also WILL NOT sort donations at a loading dock either. I do recommend the retail store. They always have interesting things. read more

Had a terrible experience and will never ever donate anything to this organization. Had a beautiful sofa in excellent condition. The driver arrives and asks if I have a dog, I said yes. Mind you my dog does not ever go on my furniture however he does shed and hairs fly around.There were a couple of white hairs on the sofa. He took a photo and called someone who told him not to take the sofa. I was so shocked at that. I'm 99% sure that my sofa was way better than he had or the person he called had in their own home. NEVER donate to this shitty organization!! Also, he probably didn't want to carry the sofa to the truck! Lazy Lazy ! read more

I think I was too hard on this thrift store at first. In fact, I didn't even review it right away because I had to give them another chance. I think I was just a little let down at first, this store has been scheduled to open for like the past two years, and when it finally did all I could dream about was how amazing the new GIGANTIC thrift store on PCH must be. ...and then I went and it was okay, but not nearly as amazing as my dreams had led me to believe. Damn those dreams, always letting me down. The place is HUGE, but filled mostly with racks and racks and racks of shitty clothes. Sure, you say, "Hello? Isn't that what a thrift store is?" Yeah, I guess. I dunno. I'm big on chotskies at thrift stores and this thrift store is not big on them. However, the book selection is surprisingly decent, and really really cheap. And they do have loads of furniture, so they ain't all bad. Fast forward a few weeks later when I decided to delve into the racks and racks of crappy clothes: costume stuff galore! Seriously, glitzy 80s dresses, acid wash overalls...man, I could just come up with new theme party ideas by browsing the racks here. This store is close to home so it is unfortunate that i've crossed it off my thrift store list. Their prices have gone through the roof. I usually hit the books every trip and spend $15-$20 in that section alone. I'd always haul a good-sized bag of books to my car. Now they are charging two to three bucks for ONE used paperback. No thank you. Their clothing prices are equally ridiculous, and it is getting harder and harder to find a good deal. Don't waste your time. read more

It's so overpriced for the cheap stuff they carry I know my thrift stores and I know what pricing should be at and this place doesn't have it keep moving on it's not worth your time. This is another Chrity that looks out for their pocketbook. I understand requirements; however they are very picky in their donations...what one person may think of as trash is another person's treasure. I tried donating good la-z-boy furniture, great build... a little of the pipping was starting to fray...the rest, material, springs, etc was in great shape - in fact more comfortable than my new furniture. Some one in need could have a well made set of furniture, maybe place a slip cover over or add new pipping. I would have loved it when I first started out. They refused as it didn't meet their standards. I would understand if springs were broken, material was torn etc...but that was not the case. I will never support this organization ever. My family and I have been St Vincent's shoppers for almost a decade but, sadly, we have just decided to never return there again as of yesterday. Here's why: #1 - Their prices are LITERALLY the same as retail prices. Furniture and exercise equipment cost HUNDREDS of dollars, men's and women's clothes cost on average between $7 - $30 per piece. #2 - There is almost no negotiation on price. Example: My husband just asked a supervisor about bringing the price down on a $200 VERY USED treadmill. (They sell them BRAND NEW for $200 at Walmart) The supervisor said he could knock off a couple bucks, buy the prices are final. No thanks. #3 - Very rude cashiers. Most of them are older women that seem like they don't want to be there and are irritated to have to ring you up and PLEASE bring them something that lost it's tag. They make up a price off the top of their head that is ridiculous - higher than what you'd pay at a department store. #4 - No return policy - Goodwill and Salvation Army have a return policy as long as you have the receipt and tag. Not St. Vincent's. You buy it, you're stuck with it. Forever. Till death do you part. So before you pay way too much for it, know that you're not dating... You're getting married. They won't return anything even when it's defective and you come in within 24 hours of purchase with receipt and tags. #5 - Poor quality items that don't work or break within 48 hours due to being so worn. St Vincent's wants to have it both ways. It wants to be called a charitable organization that has a thrift store with affordable second hand goods but when you walk in, it's bad quality, high prices and no refunds. I usually don't expect that much from second hand store because each item only costs a couple of bucks... But St Vincent's charges you retail prices. It's a thrift store with an identity crisis. That thrift store thinks it's Bloomingdale's, and therefore I expect Bloomingdale's quality and return policy. Do yourself a favor. Go to Ross, Marshall's, Walmart, Target... Hell, go to Kmart! Just don't go to St. Vincent's. Colossal waste of time and money. read more

I was driving around Sunday afternoon looking for odds and ends before my vaca, and as I was heading up PCH toward Out of the Closet, I noticed that old building the where Bedspread King used to be was now a HUGE thrift store. *slams on the breaks* Such a pleasant surprise. Upon entry it looks clean, inviting, well organized. Nothing like I expected. If you're any kind of thrift store shopper, you know digging comes with the territory. And I dug.. a lot. But srsly, this spot is a GOLDMINE if your looking for costume items or random party attire. I got pretty much everything I was missing for my week long Burning man Extravaganza, and so did my bf, all for about 60 bucks total. And we got a TON of stuff too.. something like 15 items including 2 like new pairs of shoes, a 3 piece suit with quite possibly THE tackiest tie in existence. They have normal stuff too, and furniture, sheets, place mats, large mirrors.. it's all donated. Some of the items still had the og price tags, so you could see that a mirror that was originally $185 was now being sold in good condition for $9. The staff is nice and helpful, great customer service. Even though the layout is pretty cut and dry, more than one employee asked if we needed help finding anything. I approve :) read more
