The owner here is a bit rude and can definitely brush up on her social awareness. When I walked in I overheard her accuse a seller of trying to sell his shoes to another customer (it was just a friend of his he was catching up with). & when I went to the fitting room to try on some clothes, there was a camera above the fitting room (not pointed inside) but still out of comfortability I asked to ensure the camera was not able to view the dressing room at all. She got defensive and a bit rude. I like the selection, however, felt uncomfortable purchasing from here considering my interactions. read more

The best place for resale shopping. Clean, organized. Things are all pressed and hanging. They have a variety of styles and sizes. A big men's section. If you can catch a sale going on, there are racks in the back at significant markdowns, but it's seasonal, I think? Shoes are a win for me every time. They have great brands and only relevant styles. Reselling: Have I left a little embarrassed when they hand me all my things back and don't buy anything? Yes. Prices are $20+ which is kind of what you'd find in the clearance section, or not even, of Topshop. I assume this thrift store advertises itself as a more high-end one, as I saw many items by Madewell, Express, etc, but again, nothing that I'd buy. & I'm obsessed with sweaters! SELLING EXPERIENCE: I feel like a guy or a very on-trend woman who was looking to for some reason clear out her entire closet would have much more success selling here. They didn't take items that Plato's Closet ended up taking. I called ahead of time asking if they bought bras, & the guy said "it depends on the style." When I got there, the woman told me they either only buy bras that have original tags on them or they don't at all (I forgot which one). That was frustrating because I had an entire extra large bag of barely used bras that I've grown a size up from. She told me they were looking for "mall brands," but didn't end up buying anything from me, citing that I had many skinny jeans & they were looking for more on-trend flared or straight leg jeans. I don't understand why they didn't buy any of my shorts or skirts because the brands include Levi's and Topshop. SUMMARY: I personally wouldn't come back here neither to sell nor to purchase anything. Good luck to you guys, though! Unlike many thrift shops, everything here feels clean and thoughtfully curated. Clothing is in great condition, and there are always unique finds. The staff are friendly, helpful, and never pushy. You can tell they actually care about the store and its customers. It's the kind of place where you want to stop in regularly because new treasures appear every time. Labeled Recycled Fashion, Tattered is an independent used clothing store, that sells gently used items for quite a bit less than new. The big chains in this space are Buffalo Exchange and Crossroads, both of which have multiple locations all over the country. As far as I know, this location in North Los Altos Shopping Center in Long Beach, CA is the only one. The Shopping Center is anchored by Target and has plenty of parking (though cars were waiting for spots closer to the places they wanted to shop). They will examine and possibly buy your clothes during the hours of 12 - 6:30pm. They are open 7 days a week from 11 - 7:30. The inside is narrow but deep, with dressing rooms in the back. The racks were very well organized and kempt which is a sign of workers constantly organizing or just not very much traffic during the day. The majority were women's fashion (tops, jeans) and some shoes. It was the first time at the store, and there was nobody in line ahead of us to sell used clothes (this was early afternoon on a Wednesday). The whole process took under 20 minutes, and they took 2 pieces of clothing (from two large bags), both for under $10....it would have been more if we wanted to take store credit. Since it was our first time selling, they required the opening of an account with your driver's license. We took the unwanted back for maybe another try during a different season perhaps. read more

Unfortunately this was the worst selling clothes store I've ever walked into . I would never recommend this location to anyone . When I called before I went in I specifically asked what clothes they are looking for so I didn't have to drive so far . When I got in with my daughter I gave my clothes to one lady and she handed them off to a girl named Katherine . They said on the phone they were looking for jackets, sweaters, sweat pants , you know winter attire . As I sat down and waited for them to go through my clothes the girl Katherine through every sweater, jacket and sweat pants and piece of clothing I brought in back into my bag . When you call and they tell you what they are looking for they are not specific if it's certain brands or not . They wasted my time and when I walked up she said " we're not taking anything " in the rudest tone . This location definitely would never be recommended by me or anyone I know . Waited for two hours and had to go inside to see if they were ready. They've been ready but got my phone number wrong yet, it was in their computer. They messed up 1 digit number and I don't even know why they didn't bother double checking again to see if they got it right on the computer. They just did 1 call and that's it, but never received it. I would give Tattered a 5 star for buying and a 3 star for selling. I brought in items to sell. I know they would be mindful to "wear and tear" and brand. I brought in brands like Levi and BDG, as stated on their website, and also had a very Gen Z style blouse. They didn't take any of it and no explanation about why either. They're just really picky so you have a low probability of them actually buying off of you as me and other reviewers have experienced. read more

The staff was pleasant. Only issue, they don't treat the clothes very kindly. The items they did not wish to purchase was dropped on floor several times as they were distracted by the other staff and not paying attention to how they place items on the stack of items that had been brought to them, washed and folded. They just shoved them back into the bag as if they were dirty laundry. Not one item was folded. I understand they have many customers and they look at a lot of clothes per day, but if the items were folded when you first looked at them, return them with courtesy, folded and returned in same condition. read more

If I could give Tattered less than 1 star, I would. I've been an avid thrifter for clothes and items for over 10 years. I've lived in Long Beach for 3 years. Tattered is the nearest consignment shop/thrift store to me that isn't Goodwill. I've shopped and sold items here numerous times, various days, and seen a handful of employees come and go. 1. I've personally witnessed more than a handful of times, the employees saying negative things/making judgements about customers that come in and go, as well as, their other coworkers at the front cash register where everyone can see/They think they can't be heard. 2. When selling them items, they claim they don't accept certain brands or fast fashion brands like Forever 21, Shein, Charlotte Rouse, ect. Yet, sell those brands on their racks. Not only that, but the condescending attitudes and facial expressions the buyers make when they're sorting through your clothes choosing which ones to resell, is so rude. I get it.. it's not your personal style or the most trending piece, but knowing they say bad things about people who come in- I don't doubt they've judged me based on what I wear when I walk in and what I'm trying to sell, but that doesn't mean no one appeals to my items just because the buyer that day doesn't. 3. Furthermore, I've tried to sell them a designer bag that came with authenticity receipts and everything to prove its validity (twice)- the first time, the buyer that day passed on it and the second time, the buyer that day wanted it, but would only offer me a significantly low offer. When online other sellers were selling said bag for over $800, which I'm sure Tattered would have made their prices competitive enough to make their own profit. I might as well go through all the work to sell it myself. 4. They've quickly (in the last 3 years) become the type of thrift store that will take something worth maybe $10-$20, but say its Vintage, and sell it for $60. When in reality, it's "Vintage" Target brand or "Vintage" knock off brand. Mind you, the customers selling their items received less than 40% of the profit cash/in store credit AND they advertise they ~only~ accept name branded, trending items. Overall, you're better off exploring another thrift store that values their customers and their experience more. Just because they have name branded things, doesn't mean they're fairly priced or ethically bought from a seller. I would say 2 people that I've seen working there for a lengthy time are nice, but overall the atmosphere is unwelcoming and entitled. I was going here because it was nice that it was conveniently located near Trader Joes, but it's truly not worth going out of your way to buy/sell here. There are SO many quality, fairly priced, clean, and welcoming thrift stores surrounding Long Beach/LA/Orange County. Tattered is not a thrift store I'd suggest. read more

This was my first time visiting Tattered, and first time selling my items to a consignment store ever. The girl greeted me as I came in and explained the buying process. I decided to wait 15 minutes for her to look at my two small bags of items. Out of about 40 items they only accepted 1 because a lot of mine were out of style or brands they didn't really care for. Man, was that humbling! LOL The items they sell feel very Gen Z and made me feel like an old millennial, LOL! So if bucket hats and Zara tops are your thing, definitely come check it out! They have a good range of items - from shirts, to pants, to purses, shoes and other accessories. The store was very organized. This thrift store used to be good, but now I have to say it has went down. They want the latest and greatest in fashion with name brand products but don't went to give no type of return back for your items, plus they tax you crazy like 30%.
