Highly, highly recommend this location! Thank goodness they are sprucing up "our state capitol" downtown area at last!!!! Golden One concert venue & all the restaurants within walking distance to the Sacramento Comedy spot are spectacular! Dinner then walking to comedy spot is such a fantastic "city night" experience!!!! Keep sprucing up the area, housing the homeless as "Sunny Cali" is one of the best states to live in!!!

Sac Comedy Spot is the best place for comedy in the area, hands down. Reasonably priced and exceptionally funny shows, this is a great way to spend an evening. Highly recommend coming out for the all women group Lady Business. Witty, comical, and seriously funny. The bar in front offers sodas, beers, and seltzers as well as popcorn. No cider or wine, but a good selection nonetheless. If you've got a free Saturday evening, be sure to check out the Sacramento Comedy Spot.

Worth visiting. A chill vibe if you're with friends.

Kinda cringy, but it's cool. This place is great if you just want to get out and hear some jokes. The ambiance is good, and it usually fills up fast, so get your tickets early. They have drinks available and I think you can bring your own food too, they just don't have tables. If you're looking for something to do, try this place out at least once. Isn't too much to experience.

A hidden gem in a not-so-hidden location, the Sacramento Comedy Spot is part of the MARRS building, a central space in midtown perfect for grabbing food and drinks before and/or after the show! They have a rotating calendar of regular improv/sketch/stand-up shows performed by local comedians throughout the week, and also offer classes if you're interested in learning how to do it yourself! We have attended various shows and especially enjoy the weekend ones, which tend to feature their more popular recurring shows. It's cool to see familiar faces from week to week, and the casts are super funny and talented. And while tickets are already quite affordable, you can get a further discount by buying a ticket to see both back-to-back shows on weekends (usually another show + Anti-Cooperation League) for only $15-20! You can buy tickets online in advance but we've never had an issue getting them at the door - sometimes it can get a bit busy but the line usually moves quickly and we can find seats despite it being an intimate venue. Because it's so small and cozy, you can sit as close or far as you like and still have a good view. There is a bar inside as well to get a drink before or between shows, with a nice variety of canned beer and beverages, and no drink minimum. All of the staff has always been friendly and welcoming, and there can be audience engagement from the host/performers but it never feels forced or mean. Everyone is there to have fun but it's still casual, unlike other expensive comedy clubs and shows. Perfect for date night or for laughs with friends, a visit to the Sac Comedy Spot is a great value for a great time!

The staff here are very hardworking and nice. I never understood why comedy clubs force people to purchase items. Sometimes people don't want to drink or eat anything, and just want to enjoy the show, so why is it a thing? Alcoholic drinks start at ~ $15 and I think I seen one go for as much as almost $25? Food is pricey and is gas station quality. Makes it hard to enjoy the place when I'm forced to get something and it's not good ): I tried the chocolate cake ($13) and it was way too sweet. The $6 can of water was good. I will say they bring a good variety of comedians here but with how pricey and forced everything is, I rather just stay home and watch the comedians online / via streaming.

We were at the performers' 3 o'clock; I will say the angle of spotlighting in our eyes took some getting used to but did not deter. Not sure how far back the comedians could actually see our faces with/without the spotlight. Opening acts were Jimmy Earll (@jimmyearll) and Diego Curiel (@awkwarddiego). Diego had me cracking UP! JR had a good set, with the crowd participation, improv with the acoustic guitar, and he even brought his dad up onstage toward the end! 2 drink minimum; the server let us each get 1 drink and 1 food item instead. I got nonalcoholic drink The Bell Ringer (spirit-free whiskey, strawberry, ginger, fresh lemon, bitters), and we shared the buffalo mac & cheese and pretzels with cheese. Also received a pair of complimentary tickets to the 5/21 show of Dressed To Kill.

Ace of Spades is primarily a general admission, standing-room-only venue. I understand that's part of its model, but what I struggle with is the cost of having access to a seat. Reserved seating can run $100-$150 per seat, which feels excessive. As someone with a chronic back issue, it's frustrating that the option to sit down during a concert comes with such a steep additional cost. Basic accessibility and comfort shouldn't feel like a luxury upgrade. There were also a few moments during Alex Isley's set when the sound briefly blipped while she was singing. Music didn't stop, singing sounded off. It wasn't constant, but it was noticeable enough to pull you out of the experience. On a positive note, the Good Luck Lounge was a great addition. The atmosphere was welcoming, the DJ was excellent, and the finger foods were surprisingly good. It definitely enhanced the overall experience before the show. The staff at both AOS & GLL were excellent! That said, the seating situation remains a major drawback for me. Unless it's an artist I really, really want to see, Ace of Spades isn't a venue I would choose. The performers are often great, but the overall experience doesn't justify the premium pricing for something as simple as a place to sit.

With each game costing one to two dollars I felt a little ripped off I couldn't even finish my game of three balls. The pool table me and my friend played on was quite frankly disgusting. Tons of stains on the table and felt peeling. The balls all chipped and scratched. Also there was some issue with something being stuck when the game was first setup with my friend putting it together but I wasn't paying attention. He had to flag down a worker to help resolve the issue. I get it, things are pricey these days, so a newer business has to find a deal when they can, but at least find a way to improve an already overly used item. I don't expect brand new pool tables, but at least tables that look like the business cares Not to mention the ground and walls were just dirty and gross. Seemed like nobody is really cleaning the place. All the tables tops seemed sticky (if you know you know). The velvet lounge just kinda seemed like a random thrown together area, but maybe on a slow Monday it didn't feel right with lack of people. The workers were great and gave great service, just sadly all the half run down amenities that is supposed to make this place great, makes it pretty lackluster. I guess come if you want the axe throwing?
