This place reminded me of home. We ordered the Veal Zürich Style and it was fantastic. My mother used to make this dish for me growing up, and I haven't had it since she passed away two years ago. It was so good that I am inspired to try my hand at this in my own kitchen. Thank you, Silvan and David, for bringing back those memories with your amazing food! The fondue was also exceptional. We enjoyed the Belper Knolle fondue and ordered the potatoes to accompany the bread for dipping. Speaking of bread, the basket of bread and butter they brought us while we waited for our food was wonderful. If you are looking for really good bread, take home a loaf of the Wurzelbrot. (We did!) Drinks were incredible and served to us by Silvan himself. We enjoyed the hot spiked apple cider and the Smoking Mirrors. Service was excellent and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I appreciate Swiss culture being part of the DC food scene! I came here for both brunch and dinner service, and I'll say the drinks/food I had were amazing. Especially with the fondue service, they did everything right and I felt like I was back in Switzerland! Would highly recommend for dining here, especially in the back rooms indoors where it feels like you're in a lodge. I will say I am not giving this place 5 stars because of the quality of service I received here. It was disappointing for brunch, the server kept on messing up mine/my friend's orders, and eventually we gave up trying to correct him because we didn't want to inconvenience him anymore. Furthermore, for dinner, we were only served when we did our initial order, when the food came out, and when we were presented the bill. Overall, I very much enjoyed coming here. We came here for a friend's 50th, as she lived in Geneva for 10 years during her childhood, so she was thrilled to see a Swiss restaurant in our area. We were a party of 11, and we were seated at a long table close to the window at the front of the house. Five of us reserved the Raclette Experience in advance so they were seated together around the broiling/warming mechanism on one side of the table. The remaining 6 just ordered other dishes from the menu. First, cocktails. Three of us had the Mafioso, which is a Mezcal and Aperol cocktail, served with a large square ice cube to keep from watering down the drink. We all had a second one of these, since it was excellent! Appetizers. We had two orders of the Roasted Brussels Sprouts which is prepared with bacon, onions, Raclette cheese, and an egg on top! It was phenomenal! And some of us who are new to Raclette got to try some! Highly recommend. One of us had the butternut squash soup, which she said was very good. We also had a cheese and charcuterie board for the group to nosh on, which also came with little cornichon pickles. Main dishes. I ordered the Veal Zurich, which was very good. I've never had a potato rosti before, and it's like a well done potato hash brown as a crust with a mashed potato consistency inside...very tasty and the perfect complement to a veal and mushroom "stew." I also saw red cabbage as a side with other main dishes, so I asked for a side of it myself because I just love it and never see it at restaurants. It was prepared with a cinnamon flavoring so it was more sweet than vinegar tart like other preparations. Our vegetarian/vegan friend had the Roasted Butternut Squash, which she said was very good and she appreciated the addition of quinoa for extra protein to feel satiated. The Raclette experience came with a literal cloth sack of potatoes (to keep them warm), pickles, and pearl onions. Plentiful amount of Raclette cheese slices, but we asked for additional "broiling scoops" (they remind me of little metal dust pans! I have no idea what they're actually called) because it does take time to broil the cheese to perfection and then in two bites you're ready for more. So it was good for each person to have multiple pans going at once. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table, and I had the Tawny Port as an aperitif. We skipped dessert (only because we had birthday cake waiting back at our house). But there were several options on the menu that were calling to me...next time! We were seated at the bar while our table was readied: The aromas from the kitchen had my mouth watering! We ordered the fondue with black pepper and garlic, and it was fantastic! The cheese was creamy without getting stringy, and the garlic was a perfect compliment. We also had cornichon pickles which had a great dill flavor, and green salads rounded it out. We got there about 30 minutes before our reservation, and the guy who welcomed us was incredibly friendly. He let us know that our table wasn't quite ready yet, so we enjoyed some time at the bar while we waited. When we finally got to our cozy booth, it felt just right--nice and private! We ordered a few things to share: the Famous Stable Wings, Veal Zürich Style, and Belper Knolle Fondue. The wings were a hit! They were seasoned and cooked perfectly, and we all loved them. The fondue, on the other hand, was a bit simple; it was mostly just bread for dipping, which got a little boring after a while. We made reservations for the night we arrived in DC and thankfully all the flights cooperated. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and shown to our cozy little table. My husband lived in Switzerland for a time and loves fondue and especially Fendant wine. We ordered the Traditional Cheese Fondue with Potatoes, Pickles, Sliced Apples and a Side Salad. I was so excited to try Stable dc because I lived in Switzerland as a child. I decided to host my birthday party there. We came with a party of 11 and a long table was set near the front of the restaurant. Five of us signed up for the raclette experience and the rest ordered a la carte. We had a bottle of wine and drinks and appetizers too. The brussles sprouts were delicious. The raclette was awesome. There was a table-top machine for broiling the cheese and a bag of new potatoes that stayed nice and warm. Pearl onions, a yummy onion salad, and cornichons (little pickles) were also available with the raclette. Everyone else raved about the food they ordered and plates were cleaned. Our waiter was attentive without hovering or pestering us. We never felt rushed and had a really nice time. And all told, the price was reasonable for 11 people and all the food and drinks. A top-notch experience from start to finish, including service, ambiance, and food! I made a reservation for myself and three friends. Normally, Stable requires a minimum of four people for the raclette, but after calling ahead they let us do the experience with three people. We were seated on time for a 7:30 Saturday evening reservation. The ambiance is incredible-we were seated in a section of the restaurant with wooden "Swiss chalets" seating four people, which also included a curtain for privacy. Our service overall was top-notch, with the only hiccup being our server misinterpreting one person's order and bringing two separate dishes instead of a risotto topped with venison (which was ultimately corrected). Myself and two other friends did the all-you-can-eat raclette experience, which starts off with a small salad and comes with raclette, pearl onions, onion salad, pickles, and potatoes, with five different spices on the table to top the melted raclette (which you cook yourself on the raclette they bring to the table). Everything about the experience and the raclette was delicious-the cheese was flavorful and melty, the pickles the right balance of sweet and sour, the onions packing a nice flavor, and the potatoes thoroughly cooked. We split the Toblerone chocolate mousse for dessert which was disappointing (not great flavor, extremely small portion) and also unnecessary in retrospect given how we were all full to bursting. I look forward to going back to Stable and trying their fondue experience. Especially with cold weather coming, the perfect spot for a cozy evening dinner! read more

I had seen this place while driving a different route to avoid traffic on DC-295 and thought their outside seating situation looked right up my alley. For my birthday I had always wanted to try absinthe and this was one place I found that had a decent selection of absinthes. We actually decided to sit inside due to the mosquito situation, but this restaurant seems to be prepared as they have several cans of mosquito spray and candles to reduce the insect bites. Y'all know the mosquitos in DC are crazy! The set up of the restaurant is quaint and gives off an classy air without being pretentious. It's really nice inside. They did some renovations in the back of the bar area which is also in the back of the restaurant. According to one of the waitresses, they built private rooms where you can have a bit of a more intimate experience. You don't have to reserve the rooms though, so if you just want to chill or are on a date, try to get one of these rooms. Anyway, we sat at the bar and the bar tender and all of the staff were very very friendly and answered any and all the questions we had. The bartender, who I believe to be one of the owners, got my sister her absinthe cocktail and then started the absinthe drip. If you didn't know, absinthe is poured into a glass and then a slow drip of cold water is dropped over a sugar cube that rests on a special metal spoon over the glass until the absinthe is cloudy and the glass is about half to three-quarters of the way full. Absinthe is anise flavored. The whole setup is quite elaborate and seemed to draw the attention of most of the guests eating by the bar. Most people have never seen or even heard of absinthe so I guess my order added to their experience. We ordered a cheese tray that came with these cheese florets and toasts that had a special chutney spread on in. Both were delicious and probably paired better with a wine or beer but it was pretty decent with our drinks. I also ordered a pfanner apple cider and it was probably the best apple cider I've had in a long time. The pfanner also went well with the cheese board. They also make some many other food items and I think a lot of people come here for the fondue but one of the guests that sat near us at the bar order ordered a salt encrusted fish. The whole fish was baked inside a crust of fish which left the fish tender and basically falling off the bones. I've never been to a Swiss restaurant but I will definitely be back. Everything was on theme including the bartender, who I also believe to be from Switzerland. I think he is bringing the best from the homeland to this restaurant and it's really refreshing in the landscape of DC. read more

The only Swiss restaurant in DC and an incredible brunch spot. A must-visit for anyone living in DC! The food, service, and atmosphere are phenomenal. All of their bread and pastries are baked in-house every day. Their cheese board serves a healthy slice of really high quality cheese with some amazing bread baked in-house. The fondue is not only a fun experience for a date, but uses some really delicious (and different) cheeses. All of their pastries are excellent - fresh, crunchy, and soft on the inside. The veal sausage with rösti is my favorite though - an unbelievable homemade sausage served in a rich gravy and with a perfectly crunch and tender hash brown on the side. Everything delicious. The service is also phenomenal. We've been served by Octavia a few times now and she is friendly, professional, and her love for this place shows. It's always a pleasure to eat somewhere where the staff clearly takes pride in the food they serve. Finally, the atmosphere is perfect. They play fun 80s music, have a nice outdoor streatery, tables in the front interior with a nice view of the street and bakery, and really cool private rooms in the back for groups of four. Just got back from Stable and it was truly an enjoyable time. We did the Raclette Experience, which requires calling ahead for, and it was pretty good; consisting of the cheese, potatoes, cornichons, and two types of onions. Admittedly, we did feel like it could have come with charcuterie (which is on the menu separately). But we were quickly filled with the cheese and potatoes and there wasn't much to complain about. For drinks we did the hot non-alcoholic cider and another non-alcoholic beverage, both were equally delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient and the ambiance is quaint; although we were seated more towards the entrance and didn't get a full view of the entire space. Definitely plan to scope out the full interior a bit more next time as I plan to return, it's certainly a cozy and inviting atmosphere; perfect for winter! read more

We ate in the chalet-very cute and private. The outdoor seating is also well shaded and divided from the street. We went for brunch and got the fondue for two. It was delicious, as were our mimosa and americano! I had a bite from the bakery- one of the best pastries I've had outside of France! The service was also excellent. I had a belated birthday celebration at Stable with three friends in one of their chalets and we had such a wonderful time. The chalet was cute and we had plenty of space though I will say, it was a bit chilly. Luckily, there was a blanket there that I used on my back to keep warm. I had called the day before and ordered the raclette experience for us. Right from the start you have the raclette warmer on the table with all the tools. The meal starts with a mixed green salad and bread (the bread is seriously good), and we opted to add on the Brussels sprouts and a salami. Both items were good but, honestly, we probably could have skipped them. After the starters, the plate of cheese came out along with a sack (literally) of potatoes, pearled onions, a pickled onion salad and gerkins. Each person individually melts a slice of cheese on their tray and then uses the scraper to put it all of the aforementioned goodies. We put some butter on the top of the heater and grilled up the potatoes, which I highly recommend. We also utilized the bread we already had on the table. Everyone was delicious and it was easy and fun to do. It's bottomless and we thought that there was no way we'd want more of anything....but then suddenly we needed a second round and the owner came over and made sure that we were replenished. I forgot to say that we also had a great bottle of red one and two of my friends enjoyed the gluwhein (mulled wine). When we could eat no more....we ordered dessert and the chocolate mousse was the perfect amount of sweet. We each had a few bites to round out the meal. I'd love to come back to try the fondue. The restaurant is so warm and inviting and their hospitality takes it over the top. read more

Meh. If you are looking for ok fondue at high prices sitting outside in the cold in front of heaters, this is your place. The fondue for two was good, but quite small for the price. And it only comes with bread, boiled potatoes and Cornichons so we ended up leaving not full. My daughters ordered only appetizers, since - although we called in advance - they had no Raclette. Would you not want to stock up on Raclette if you brand yourself as a Swiss restaurant and Raclette is your signature dish? The Glühwein was average at best, and expensive at USD 12. We had a lovely experience here! For five people at brunch we did the the call ahead raclette service. Make sure you call ahead at least 24 hours in advance. We called Friday evening for Sunday afternoon. The raclette service was completely worth it. Each person is $35 for unlimited cheese and bread. The spread also includes vinegar onion salad (delicious), pickled pearl onions, cornichons, and a huge bag of cooked baby potatoes. They provide 8 slices of raclette for each guest and offer unlimited refills. Out of a group of five we were stuffed after the first offer. They give you so much, including a first corse salad. We only finished the cheese and salad it was so generous! The raclette service and the $25 mimosa bottle are totally worth the prize. read more

Came for brunch and it was an underwhelming but perfectly fine experience. I had the eggs benedict which comes with smoked salmon. You can choose how to have your eggs for the benedict and I opted for the traditional poached. The eggs were very overcooked and not runny like a traditional poached egg but otherwise the benefict was tasty enough. It however doesn't come with a side and desperately needs a side salad or home fries. I was extremely hungry after my meal. Others in my party noted the same that the portions were quite small and not particularly filling. The mimosas are pretty standard and come with what we assumed was an elder flower liqueor. The drinks overall are okay. The pumpkin patch martini was a bit of a let down. For whatever reason it basically tastes like fireball even though there's no fireball in it but if you're looking for a drink with a red hots type taste this is the one -- not really a pumpkin taste, mostly cinnamon. The outdoor seating is really nice and the service was nice. Probably wouldn't come back but overall wasn't a bad experience. read more

Visited Little Stable & it was the most fun I've ever had eating fondue! I went in a group of 5 hungry girls & we wanted to try 2 cheeses (garlic pepper cheese & pear cheese). Each fondue pot must have at least "2 orders of cheese). We ordered a "two person serving" of the garlic cheese & a "two person serving" of the pear cheese and it was a lot of cheese. Our favorite was the garlic one, so next time, we will order one pot (with 3 servings) among the 5 of us. Each serving is around $30, so 3 serving split among 5 people would be $18 per person (pretty good deal) and they give you UNLIMITED cubes of bread for dipping! This is one of the places that I recently came upon and loved it the first time we went there. It is a small restaurant in the H street corridor with a more European menu and vibe. I believe it is very much Swiss cuisine and other European countries. We went there on a Saturday. We had a reservation and the restaurant seemed to be full. It is a very chill environment and the staff don't rush you at all. In the menu they had a cheese fondue that was winking at us but we decided to go with something else for now. We got salmon salad and eggs Benedict. Both of them are classic and they both were good. I would say what makes this place great is the sweets that they sell and the hot chocolate.
