Best new find for me in 2026. I wasn't expecting such tasty food. Stopped in for brunch and was impressed by the menu--very smart. Ordered the leek/mushroom omelet and the French toast (which is really a decadent bananas foster in disguise). Both are killer. Enjoyed an Irish coffee with Teeling small batch whiskey (from Dublin) and also sampled a couple of lovely stout beers on tap. Service was friendly and professional. Decided to get some take-out for the kids and went with fish & chips and mac & cheese and nearly didn't serve it to them, wanted to devour it myself. This is where Brookland's Finest used to be. The interior has been revamped and the new design makes it more functional and inviting. It seems like there's more seating. The space can be opened up to let in the gentle breezes, so pleasant. This is a great neighborhood Irish Pub. I was out with my friends to drink here because I heard they had Guinness; and it did not dissapoint! Unfortunately the kitchen was closed by the time I arrived so I can not review anything about food. I will say that the atmosphere is very lively, there's a range of hip hop music to irish music that will switch occasionally. The staff here really take care of you; and make sure that you get your order in if it's busy. On a busy saturday night, that's much appreciated! I will definitely have to try out their food next time; a must visit for those who seek good irish food and drinks ranging from beers to good mixed drinks! read more

Inside the old Brookland's Finest building is an Irish pub. (Don't worry- they kept the D.C. flag art inside.) With three co-owners with one being Irish, here's my experience popping in. 1) Drinks: The menu is expansive and organized well around flavor profile. They have Guinness of course, but many other options, including two different hard ciders on tap. If you like a cider in between dry and sweet, order Magner's. It's refreshing every time. To make it even mor refreshing, ask for a cup with ice only to pour it into. 2) Food: The chef and her team makes all the food from scratch and it's noteworthy. A nod to Ireland, many dishes come with a green sauce like the Vegetarian Croquettes and the Monkfish. (I love a good leek crema.) The fish was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. 3) Service: The team is clearly passionate and treat you like family. 4) Space: It's decorated well with photos of the owners' families. There's an outdoor patio with tables, a long bar inside, and plenty of booths and standing tables. 5) Area: Located in Brookland, it's a true neighborhood. This was a solid pub experience in NE. I went on a Friday night thinking it would be crowded, but it was surprisingly easy to get a seat without a wait. The space is quite large and they have a lot of tvs for sports viewing. Service was pretty fast as well. The cocktails left something to be desired and weren't that well made, but they have a pretty decent sized beer selection with Irish beer. Their food menu has great options and I opted for the cheeseburger and fries with curry gravy. The burger was good, but a little too cheesy and so became slippery as a result. The bun was a little dense as well, so the burger itself was a little hard to manage. The chips however were absolutely excellent and extremely filling. They were extremely thick cut and extremely well cooked. They have a chips shop where you can mix and match toppings and dips for the chips and I think that is definitely worth trying if you visit the Harp. read more

Unsure what the onions are caramelized in but they taste like water not even like onion I'm just confused how did you even do that??? Great neighborhood Irish pub! The fish and chips were great. Amazing chips--cod always has its limits, but the batter was good. The ox pie was delicious-Great pastry and very flavorful ox. Great addition to the neighborhood. A quintessential 'little bit of everything' neighborhood hangout on a quiet corner of Brookland. There's menu has a good variety of snacks and shared plates along with entrees. The food has an Irish bend to approachable comfort food. The croquettes and the chips were great for our small table to share, though I was tempted by the roasted carrots - next time! There's a short draft beer list, with Guinness and other standards you'd expect in an Irish bar, and a short specialty cocktail menu backed by a full bar. There's a small patio and outdoor bar seating, large indoor bar, and tables inside. The renovated interior gets tables in close, but the atmosphere is relaxed and not cramped. Noise levels are lively, but no one is shouting to be heard. read more

Went on opening weekend and I must say it did not disappoint. The ambiance was great. Sat outdoors with our dog and was able to enjoy some Guinness. While we weren't able to try to the food cause the kitchen was closed the service really made up for that. The staff was super friendly and really took care of you. While it was sad to see Brooklands Finest (the former restaurant in this location) close, it's been great seeing the addition of The Harp and the community rallying around it. The Harp offers friendly and welcoming staff, a solid beer list, and happy hour specials from 3-6. The food is good (shepherds pie, ox tail pie, fish and chips) and reasonably priced. They've added 7 or so TVs making this a much needed bar for watching sports and added a tv to the outside patio. It's been great seeing this restaurant be a hot spot for families and local college students alike and I look forward to more visits and catching football there in the near future. read more

Awesome find on our trip to DC. Locals better keep this place going. Menu is small but when you do everything really well you don't have to go crazy. Food is so good. We went twice in a week. Servers were fast and friendly. Food came out quickly. Fun sports bar with plenty of tvs but also clean and inviting for families. Street parking is the only pain, welcome to DC. Came on opening night. Place was packed, but that's to be expected since our neighbourhood had been pining for this place to open for weeks now. Sat outside on the patio and was able to order through the QR code. They were slammed for Guinness, but tapped a new keg before our night ended. They pour a proper pint! Every pint came promptly, and service was friendly and excellent. Their fish and chips were great-- their chips were absolutely lovely, homemade, and well seasoned. I suspect this will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship between the passionate team behind this Pub and our neighbourhood. I know I'll be back. read more

If you think you know Irish bars in DC, The Harp will surprise you! This feels like Ireland right now, not an Irish bar stuck in the past. Modern and authentic without trying too hard. The food is unbelievable. Elevated Irish pub fare done right. The ox pie is a must order! The bar hits just as hard. Well thought out cocktails, the Confession Box is a standout, a serious whiskey list, and a Guinness poured properly that tastes exactly the way it should. You walk in and the room is already electric. Authentic Irish sessions every Thursday, live music every week, trivia nights, etc. This place is run by people who really understand hospitality. I stopped in for a couple drinks and apps. I had the happy hour sliders and the happy hour pimento cheese. The sliders were sooo good! The cheese was great, but pairing it with a soft, although good, bun wasn't the best - soft on soft. I took it home and eat each separately though. Service was spot on. In general, I like French fries. They're a solid, dependable side, you know? But I have never in my life been evangelical about French fries until I visited the Harp this past December. Since then, without fail, I talk about theirs at least once a week to anyone who will listen to me. They are the perfect fry (crispy on the outside, soft on the inside) but then it gets better: you get to choose from a seasonings menu and even better, there's also a sauce menu for them? Bliss. And then. And THEN. I also had their mac and cheese with braised beef. Ridiculously good. Our sever, Dylan, was phenomenal. We had a great discussion about beer - they actually had a decent selection of sours, which I appreciated. It was a lovely afternoon with friends. I worry that now I won't find a seat there because I'm certain others have had similar experiences and get there far more often than I am able to, but I will be making a return visit in a few weeks. The fish from the fish and chips was pretty flavorless. The fries were good, but between the slow service and disappointing food, it feels like a step down from before.
