There have been several restaurants at this location. Most recently it was a Denny's. Stacks opened in mid October 2015, primarily offering breakfast and lunch. While the food was good and plentiful, the breakfast listed as 2+2+2 eggs, pancakes and sausage or bacon strips is only served with one sausage patty. That was not a good start. When I pointed out this discrepancy to the waitress, the cook informed her that the serving only consisted of one patty in spite of what the menu says. Not good customer service and I will not go back. I do NOT recommend this restaurant. read more

The service wasn't all that great, the waitress wasn't friendly and poured my husband lukewarm coffee. She never asked how our food was. I ordered avocado omelet and couldn't even bite into the avocado because it was so HARD! the omelette itself was good. Augh. Should have gone to Bob Evans or McDonald's across the street. Not crowded at all, yet the waitress was very inattentive. In fact forgot my drink order literally seconds after I told her. Ordered a daily special on the board, pork chop and eggs breakfast. Came with two runny fried eggs, non-eventful tasteless pancakes (instead of toast), crisp hash-browns and "pork chops." Actually they were pork tenders, which were obviously water-added cuts, and had no seasoning on them. Tough because they were overcooked. Much of my food became cold as I waited for the waitress to return with the hot sauce and syrup, after my food was served and AFTER a quick staff meeting to discuss the seating plan for the day, a co-worker dealing with a personal problem, the weather, etc. Don't let the photo fool you..."Stacker's" must refer to the sh*t food they serve! read more

Great place to eat. Had a place I ate 2-3 times a week but the owner took a vacation for 3 months and the food went south with him. Have not got anything bad from Stack's kitchen, pancakes are some of the best I have had. The 3 pork chops, eggs and potatoes are right on the money. Bill will try to fix the food the way you want it. I have been served by all that work there but have 2 I ask for now if they are working. I like to set and drink coffee (3-6 cups) for a time after eating and no one acts like they want me to leave so the table is freed up like some chains. read more

Honestly I'm not sure why there are other people complaining it's a new restaurant but honestly it was great when I went. It was about 1230 on a Thursday and not packed but not slow. Waiting staff were very friendly, they were helpful, maybe needed some more training but got the job done. The menu is big and has variety, everything we ordered was delicious and there were 8 of us, it also come out right and in a timely manner I think you should definitely try this place out, go for the Palestine crepes or the blueberry pancakes oh and the omelets are enormous and delicious. :) A+ 5 read more

We had one of the most delicious breakfasts we've ever had. Traveling for volleyball...we love to find non-chain restaurants. The pancakes are the best we've had, the skillet is amazing too. This was my first visit to Stacks. Met my friend there a little after 10:30. I should have run for the door when I opened my menu to see a human hair stuck to it and we had to have our very greasy table wiped down. After a wait, we ordered our drinks. After another wait, we ordered our meals. My friend ordered the ham scrambler with toast and a side of pancakes and I ordered a traditional breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon crisp, hash browns and pancakes (whole grain). Our server was very nice and answered any questions. Twenty minutes later our meals arrived. Our server asked if we had everything we needed and my friend told her silverware would be helpful and that her toast had been forgotten. Five minutes later (while our meals cooled), we got the silverware which I had watched our server roll inside napkins while we waited. Our food was okay. My bacon was cold, hash browns lukewarm, eggs warm but not hot. At some point, our server came by to check on us, and we once again requested my friend's toast. After a third mention when her meal was almost done, she got the toast. We then ordered cherry crepes and I requested a refill of my unsweetened iced tea. I also requested that she bring the check when the crepes were served. A few minutes later I was served some sort of carbonated something - definitely NOT iced tea. Our server took it away and then we waited. And waited. And waited. No crepes and no iced tea. Finally, our server came back and apologized to us (for the umpteenth time throughout our visit) and told us she had forgotten to tell us the kitchen had run out of cherries. I mentioned the iced tea and told her never mind, She did bring me a small go cup of iced tea anyway. Ten minutes later we got the check. Their checks are the old-fashioned handwritten checks with an adding machine print-out attached. So there is no real way to know if it is accurate or what charges go with what item. We took the check to the cashier. While heading toward the cashier, we noticed him rubbing his hands through his somewhat greasy, somewhat long hair. Then he raised his hand to pick at his eyelash. While I signed the credit card bill I quietly mentioned it would be nice if he kept his hands out of his hair (I didn't mention the grease). Oh boy, was that a mistake. He raised his voice and told me that he doesn't handle food. I told him he handles my credit card, pens, etc. He told me he was sure that his having touched his greasy hair would be just terrible for my card. Then the manager type person standing next to him chimed in that his running his hand through his hair would be awful for those carry-out orders he handles, too. At which point I told them both that based on the way they handled this, I will never set foot in Stacks again. And I won't. read more

Fantastic service! I was checked on by nearly every server working. Not just mine. Portions are huge. Unless you can really put down the food, take a friend. I should have asked for a TWO egg omelet. I stay in Plainfield, IN two to three times a month. Stacks was formerly a Dennys. It just opened 3 months ago. Privately owned, family operated. The inside is clean and the wait staff was very friendly. Stacks does breakfast 24-7. I ordered the House Omlet because it was most like a Western Omlet...which is not on the menu. It was delivered to the table within 10 minutes with a side of home fries and a cup of hot coffee. Portion size?...Huge. I could have taken half the Omlete home for tomorrow's breakfast! Flavor of the omlette? Great! Detractors? Coffee. It's a Food Service blend coffee and coffee creamer used is individual ultra-heat treated "Mini-Moos." That's low cost/cheap method for a hot beverages that many breakfast go-ers may not enjoy. Stacks should have real creamer available for breakfast/diner crowd. Overall, good "mom and pop" breakfast restaurant. I'll be back. read more

Just made our first stop here, but certainly not our last! I ordered the tenderloin sandwich and I have to say it's the best I've had in quite sometime! It was served with soup and fries, and the soup alone could have made me a meal. The sandwich was very tender, quite large and served on a bun that fit the sandwich! The lady seating us walked us around the restaurant twice before seating us. We finally had to just tell her that we would just sit at a passing table. We didn't get cutlery until when the food got there. Once the food came it was cold. One of the people eating with us didn't get their food until 20 min after we did. So many good reviews of this place left me thinking it would be an ok place to eat. Boy was I wrong. When people say friendly staff, I guess you'd have to consider a "hello", "are you ready to order" and "enjoy"... Friendly. I was never asked how my sandwich was. Which was sadly absolutely horrible. This is my first time visiting this place and I can not say I would come back. If the waitress had asked me how it was I would have told her I was exceptionally dissatisfied. I took one bite and asked for a box to feed it to my dogs. I would have thought she would have thought it was weird that I ordered a sandwich and took one bite and boxed it up. I ended up eating the remainder of my daughters kids meal. Maybe their breakfast menu is better but I can't say I recommend the lunch menu. read more

I am from Arizona but my boyfriend is based in Indy and stays in the hotels around stacks very often. We decided to go to Stacks instead of hotel breakfast and it was a very good choice. This places portion sizes were amazing and the price was unbeatable. I would definitely choose stacks over IHOP, Denny's or Cracker Barrel. The food has such a home taste, it tasted so fresh unlike your casual food chain. The people were so relaxed but friendly and provided awesome service. We will be back! read more

The place appeared clean. It was not busy so we asked for a booth. They sat us in one right next to the kitchen which happens to us constantly at any restaurant. We choose a sunny window booth. Next, the waitress brought menus and coffee. She then went into turnover mode and we felt rushed. It was slow guys, no need to push. I'll cut to the chase, our food lacked meat. There was a few specks of sausage and bacon but very few. Hash brown were not cooked thoroughly. Eggs tasted like they were poured from a carton. No cheese. We shoveled it down but informed our waitress who we complimented on her service. She told the owner who apparently was too busy to speak with us. He commented to her "well what do they want more meat"? NO! We want food cooked with proper proportioned ingredients. Period! We won't be back. read more

I get over hard, and most places struggle to get them done well enough. However, these eggs were great! Slice of ham was thick and delicious. Pancakes were fluffy, and hashbrowns were perfectly crisp. Add 2 cups of coffee and our total came out just at $20. My first and last visit today Sept 17. At 830 on a Monday there were 2 other customers inside. The interior was clean and we were greeted promptly. Food server brought the ice tea. I said something about the odd Colts glasses for the ice tea and right then the server coped her attitude. No name tag at all so I have no idea who served us. Then she tried to up sell the fruit instead of hash browns but thanks to other reviews I knew about the additional cost so declined the offer and it was not mentioned on the menu in the item description. The food was bland got the ham and cheese omelet had to scrape the melted cheese goo off and then it stuck to the fork and the eggs were a powder variety, the hash browns had a freezer burn taste plus the oil substitute had a nasty taste and wholly moly the rubber pancake that peeled into layers was something I have not experienced before. My daughter ordered the same omelet but with toast........swimming in yellow oil. Other daughter had biscuit and gravy with scrambled eggs. Over all this food was sub par but something that we have unfortunately discovered is generally touted as super special by folks in this area. We came here to maybe find a non-chain place to bring out of town guests..........but not here. read more

I was in Plainfield visiting family who recommended eating here. It was my 24 year old son, his 10 year old half-brother, and myself. We were seated right away and given menus and the waitress took our drink orders, so far so good. Then our food order was taken I asked for a short stack of pancakes and bacon, my son ordered ribeye and eggs, and his brother got biscuit and gravy skillet. I had to ask for silverware 3 times before it was brought to us. My son's side of bacon was brought out on a dirty plate. Also I realized when my pancakes came out that they gave me the tall stack (6) instead of the short (4) but my waitress was nowhere to be found so I could say anything at that time. When we finally saw her again (after we finished eating and were waiting about 15 minutes for a bill) when she gave me the bill she also charged me the tall stack so I told her "I ordered the short stack but was given the tall and I couldn't eat that much" she told me she would fix it, at which time you would have thought she would have gone to the computer to fix it, but instead she loudly went over by another server telling her how I was lying and kept looking back at me. After another 8 minutes of still not getting a new bill we decided to stand in line to pay and just tell the cashier. I guess the waitress noticed us in line at gives me the new bill saying "here I fixed it". So All in all the food was ok but the service was crap. My son gripped at me for even leaving a tip.
