I had to visit Greenwood on a Sunday midday, so I looked for a good breakfast diner. I found Ari's, which was close to my destination. The restaurant is in a Kroger complex. I went in and was seated - and then waited nearly ten minutes for a server to come get my drink order. The restaurant isn't fancy, and I noticed several tables that were empty but still had dirty dishes. Maybe they had a rush that left... but the tables set with the dirty dishes for a while. I ordered an omelet, which came with two pancakes and hash browns. The pancakes were good, but the hash browns were somewhat cold and not crispy. I wanted sausage, onion, mushroom and pepper jack cheese in the omelet - it came as I ordered, but it was a slice of pepper jack cheese that was just laid inside the egg. It was hard to eat the omelet, since the cheese usually binds everything together. The server was nice, and the bill had cash vs credit costs. I had higher hopes for this place, but I think maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Who goes to a place with Pancake House in the name and doesn't order pancakes? Apparently, me. I was craving biscuits and gravy, so I ordered that with scrambled eggs and hashbrowns. Everything was just ok. My brother felt the same about his omelet. It was packed on a Saturday at lunch time, almost every table was full. It did take a good 20 minutes to get our food, but it was super busy, and everything came out correct. The best thing was that the staff were awesome. They were friendly and efficient. I liked that they rotated, so someone was always checking on us, refilling coffee, etc. The worst part was that the booth was super thin. I could feel the person behind me's back every time they moved around. I eventually just slid over but it kinda gave me the heebie jeebies. Stopped in here for brunch one morning, thinking it was only a breakfast place (especially given the name) but surprised to see they're open for dinner as well most nights! Decor is a little sparse, the tables are spread out pretty well and the wall art is an interesting mix of the Brooklyn Bridge (like seriously, 4 different pieces) and Greenwood landmarks. But like all good diners, I don't care much about ambiance if the food is good. This is solid diner food. I was really happy with my French toast combo - the French toast was great and my eggs were exactly as I would have expected (over hard) and bacon was only a couple of small pieces, but tasty. (And not really the point of my order - I was all about the roast.) My wife ordered the waffle and wasn't impressed--too chewy for her liking. I thought it was okay, but only had a bite at the end of the meal so not a great representation of how it came out so I won't judge it. Service was good, and they do provide an online payment option (via a Toast QR code) if that's your jam. This is a solid place - not sure why it isn't more popular at such a growing intersection. Is it the best diner food I've ever had? Nah. But I'd eat here again to support a good local business. read more

We were so fantastically surprised by how good all the food was. Not that that's a rarity here in Franklin, but we just moved here from downtown Indiana. The price was fantastic. Two people had a great meal for 30 bucks. The omelettes are big and delicious. Sourdough toast was perfect. I mean outside of San Francisco. Oscar was our waiter. He was attentive, he was very friendly. He kept my iced tea refilled, and I really appreciate that in a waiter. The restaurant was clean, the food served quickly, beautifully presented. Perusing the menu showed the rest of the food. Looks just as great. They even serve soups and I'm looking forward to the clam chowder on another day. We will definitely be back. read more

The 2 people I went with also really enjoyed what they got. The prices were very reasonable and normal for a breakfast place. Second visit to Ari's for us. The food here has been really great both times. This time I got the Mexican Benedict with hash browns. It's made up of a toasted English muffin, chorizo, eggs (cooked to order), avocado, and chipotle sauce. It was so good, I kept eating after I was way too full, but it was too good to stop. It takes a bit for the food to come out to the table after ordering but not terribly long and it's been worth the wait on both visits. Highly recommend! read more

I ordered the waffle, scrambled egg, and bacon combo. The eggs were cold, I sent the waffle back because arrived cold and the butter wouldn't melt but the bacon and coffee was good. They told me that they cooked a new waffle but it was so soggy that I think they just microwaved it. I think it was a frozen waffle also. It was the worst breakfast I've ever had. If I had been paying for it myself I would have complained but I didn't want to insult a friend that was paying for it. Some of these reviews are highly soaked in racism. Which is a shame for a family ran business! I found this place, because it is next door to my nail salon. We have been here a ton of times, and the food is not only very very inexpensive but it is always good. I have not had one mistake on my orders. A family of five can eat dinner for under $70 and that is unheard of! The servers have both been so nice and they are quick to ask if everything is ok. Very good experience, veggies were fresh and perfectly cooked, steamy potatoes not greasy and over salted as is often the case. Eggs cooked right and food served hot, very good fresh salsa. Ordered pancakes. 45 minutes later still no food. Other patrons came after us and received their food. My sister and I were the only blacks in the establishment. They clearly didn't want to serve us. We were very cordial when asking how long is the wait for our food. Meanwhile everyone arriving after us had their food. So after waiting 45 minutes, we got up to leave. Always happy with food and service. Home like feel with a fresh cooked meal. We recently did take out due to COVID and food was just as good that way. The entire building smelled like fabuloso, I order strawberry banana French toast (which ended up being very dry toast with cut up star berries and bananas on them) and had to order a separate side of eggs and sausage. First time and likely the last time. Cabilio (sp?) was our waiter. Took forever for our food to come (almost an hour) and my eggs were cold, hash browns were warm and bacon was limp and grease soaked. My husband got the biscuits and gravy and they were good and hot. Our waiter never came to see how our food was so I was not able to request hot food. He never refilled our drinks either. But....When he brought us our check, he had taken the biscuits and gravy off the bill because he said it took so long. That was a nice gesture but he should have taken off the Ari's breakfast because it was the cold meal but of course, that was the more expensive item. Lol.
