I arrived at high noon on a Friday and found only two tables with folks dining or finishing up. Only one other table of people came in right behind me so it was not crowded at all. The sign said seat yourself so I did in the left hand side dining room. Two servers were working the room so orders were taken promptly. Yes, as noted by the other reviewers it is family owned so nothing fancy, just very comfortable dining to get some good home cooked meals. Their menu reminds me of Blueberry Hill's in that it has a wide variety of selections. I ordered the 6 pc. Butterfly Fried Shrimp from the Specials board. The shrimp came with steak fries which is one of my favorite styles of fries. Both the shrimp and fries were great. The shrimp were so big I could only eat five of the six. And I wanted to save room for dessert after seeing fruit pies on the menu. I ordered their Cherry Pie but declined the ice cream. The pie was very delicious. Apple was available too just so you all know. To be honest I didn't really look that hard at the menu once I saw the specials on their white board. I've driven by Goody's so many times without stopping. Today that all ended as I had a hankering for a breaded tenderloin and figured they had one. What Family Restaurant doesn't, am I right? Worst restaurant in town. Walked in there so I please wait to be seated sign she told me I could sit anywhere I saw the sign was pointless. Looked at the menu and all they had was omelettes the waitress asked me three times if I wanted coffee after telling her I did not want to copy the first time. First time in 25 years I've only ordered coffee at a restaurant and to be honest it wasn't that good either. I think my one star is pretty generous don't waste your time and eat here. read more

What this place lacks in ambience they more than make up in their food. Their black bean soup is the BEST you will ever find. It's more of a religious experience in richness and flavor. I have a soft spot for family restaurants where my hubby and myself are undoubtedly the youngest people by a good 10 years. This place fits that bill. We go here a few times a month. The prices are dirt cheap and run by a hard working family. Goody's tip: for some random reason they ALWAYS give you an extra egg. Yes this requires math. So if you order a two-egg breakfast, you get what?? Three eggs! It's the rule. Never fails! I went for three stars because there are only a few things in the menu I really think are good. I wanted to love this place because it's close by to my home. If you stick to breakfast it's not too bad. I went yesterday and ordered the fried chicken and asked for all white meat and I repeated that 3 times and the waitress said she got it. When the food came out it was a half chicken and there was a leg and thigh on it and so I called her over and she said that's the only way it comes, just eat it you will love it. Well I don't care who cooks it I only eat wings and breasts period. So I ate the two pieces that was white meat and left the others, you would have think she would have adjusted my bill for that but she didn't. She is a really nice lady but she doesn't have very good listening skills because she gets something wrong on our order every time we eat there, and she is always there in the mornings. They don't have sweet tea, how hard is it to make it, most everyone loves sweet tea. I did get the country fried steak last week and it wasn't bad. Didn't care for this one. Don't get me wrong, this place isn't totally awful. The service was fine, the food arrived hot, and there were large portions of it. However, the food quality wasn't so good. The cream of potato soup was pretty tough to stomach. It was over peppered. My husband's Italian beef was so tough it took forever for him to chew it. My chicken parm was tasteless and the pasta was also tough and chewy. You do get a lot of food for the money...however you need to ask yourself if you also want it to be edible. read more
