I was visiting family and talked about getting a real fire hydrant for the yard. It was mentioned there was a plaster one here, it was down the street. Seemed a bit odd but went with it. Yes there were all kinds of plaster items, like animals and yes a red fire hydrant. It was meant to be. Reminds me of when I was a child in Tijuana and bought all kinds of stuff. Yes it is a liquor store, grocery store, counter where u can send money and a very good taqueria. So many meat choices, I went with barbacoa burrito, it had at least 8 oz of meat with rice and beans, burrito was massive. My wife got carne asada tostada with beans, lettuce and sour cream. The red salsa has some kick but also has good flavor. The food was delicious. Have no pix as we got it to go heading back to Sac. I would rate it a 4.5 if I could. I will return. read more

Who would've thought there'd be great tacos/quesadillas at a liquor store with the entire cast of Dragon Ball Z on the side of the building? Obviously I didn't! But apparently a lot of people do and come here lining up around the aisles of the liquor store for their lunch break! Two ladies work the front of the liquor store/taqueria counter to make all the tacos, quesadillas, and combo plates! They throw down the quesadillas and chop the prepared meat right when you order. Overall really enjoyed it for a filling (but not filling to the point of debilitating) lunch! Definitely choose from the stewed meats they have at the front--Chile Colorado among others are well seasoned, tender, and delicious on tacos (and probably rice!). Carnitas were also flavorful and tender, though I have a slight preference on crispy carnitas. I loved their salsa on my quesadillas--large, cheesy, but not overly greasy! Personally I would skip the carne asada here--just cubed beef relative to all the other wonderful meats. Also got a horchata. At first it seemed a bit watered down since it had less cinnamon than others I have had. I went here for lunch and ordered a chili relleno burrito. There were a couple people in front of me but the line moved quickly. I ordered and the server made my burrito without asking any questions are saying anything to me. I was talking to my coworker so I wasn't closely watching it be made. After we got back to work we realized that there were no beans and no salsa, the burrito was rice and the chili relleno only. Ive never gotten a burrito that didn't come with beans, cheese, and salsa. Had it only been one burrito I could believe that it was a mistake but both burritos were made the same way. Alright, sometimes you find the best food in places you'd least expect, this was one of those times. I've walked past this place several times while exploring around San Jose but never ventured in, I saw taqueria on the sign so I went through the following logic passes. There's a short line that formed inside, surrounding the area around the cash register. Seeing who the other customers were gave me a good confirmation that this place was legitimate. Mexican places are good in general, but the best mexican places will put anything you ask for into a quesadilla and grill that for you. Those places in general are hard to come by, but i managed to convince the staff at stadium liquor to stuff my quesadilla with chile colorado, rice, beans, pico de gallo, salsa verde, a touch of guac and sourcream, and a massive handfull of cheese. I dont even need to talk about how great that quesadilla was, you can tell by the description I gave you. Anyways, this place is amazing, check it out. read more

HIDDEN GEM is right! Taqueria CONVENIENTLY located inside of a liquor store, can it get better than that? Yes, their food is bomb. Not only does this place use my favorite type of tortillas (La Rosa, the softest!) but their red salsa is spicy! I recommend you have salsa on the side. They usually have a little line going but it's worth the wait which btw isn't a very long wait. Haven't tried anything else besides their carne asada meats in a burrito and quesadilla soooo good nothing compared to some of the popular spots downtown. Found a hidden gem inside this liquor store. They have a little taqueria with your basic Mexican food. I've been coming to this place several times. It's located in somewhat "raising eye brow" area. I went to stadium liquors to cash a check for one of my employees on 1/7/2015. They used to cash checks for me about 12 years ago. My employee went in there and came right out, and said they wouldn't cash the check cause they didn't know him. So he asked me to go in. The guy took one look at me and said sorry before I could even talk, even though I own the company. I told the dummy that my employee had a valid California I.d.
