Was at Target today and craving an egg salad sandwich so I stopped in this little "pizza and deli." I pulled into the small parking lot - maybe a total of 8 spaces. Taking into account there are a very limited number of spaces, the amount of seating provided could never be filled. Also, I personally find the parking lot to be a bit dangerous considering people turn in fast so if you're pulling out of a spot, it won't be end well. The inside is very dark and quiet but there's plenty of seating. I placed my order and went to look at the bottled drinks which were your typical selection of canned sodas, Snapple teas and things like that. Right around that section in the back is a hot food buffet bar and a salad bar. The coffee/tea area was a bit confusing. I wanted an iced tea and there were only huge 32 oz foam cups, I asked the guy behind the counter if they had smaller and he said to use the large coffee cups which were 20 oz. I walked over to the tea dispenser and looked around for ice and found a huge, old-looking cooler on the counter. I opened it and there was the ice I was looking for. You scoop ice into your cup from this cooler on the counter which hardly seems clean. The scoop was laying in the ice, which is a no-no if you've ever worked in the food industry because of dirty hands on ice scoops and then your ice is contaminated. So to satisfy my cravings, I ordered an egg salad sandwich on white bread with an unsweetened iced tea. Altogether I paid $7 which is very reasonable considering other places in the area would charge a little more. The egg salad was your standard egg salad - with maybe a little bit of cayenne pepper and was pretty good. There was a piece of ham where it was cut so I assume the knife they used to cut it in half was not cleaned before cutting my sandwich. Aside from the whole ice concern, the iced tea was good, too. Unsure if I'd be back to try again.

I've always been a fan of this place, I've been coming here since 2009. Wednesday is my favorite day to go grab some lunch from the buffet table. I haven't seen the owner Joe in a while and was told he's no longer there, I will definitely miss seeing him when stop by. Service is awesome always and ambiance is set up like a cafe lunch room. read more

This is a solid Deli for breakfast and lunch. They are super efficient, deliveries are sometimes less then 20mins!. I work in the area and stop in on a regular basis for breakfast, they always do it right. I get the two eggs over potatoes and some toast. Its perfectly over medium every time. When we order in for the office, its for 3-5 different guys and they get it here faster then anyone in the area usually under 20 minutes. Their prices are also super cheap! Worth every penny. Sometimes if I just need food myself, they deliver it anyway, no defined minimum for delivery. They have an awesome hot food bar, sometimes I go for that but I'm usually a hot sandwich guy, I really like the chicken cutlets here. They pizza is solid and the service is fast and efficient. Only downside is that the parking during lunch is crazy, but they let you park at the art gallery next door so that helps a little. read more

I've ate at this deli twice both times the food was fresh and good from the hot bar at tad bit on the expensive side if you fill up a plate it comes out to around $15 wide selection of drinks staff is friendly and they do have plenty of seating. read more

This place went down the drain since new ownership came on. Food is not good anymore, deliveries are very slow, and the people on the phone are in a rush to get you off the phone. The delivery man was kind and apologized when he arrived. The only reason why it's 2 stars and not one. read more

Me and my coworkers have all ordered various items from their menu on numerous occasions and have yet to be disappointed. The food tastes delicious and their prices aren't super inflated like other deli's in our area. Another perk worth noting is that their delivery person is super fast and very friendly. read more

Work around the area and come here often for lunch before they close at 4pm . It's what you expect from a pizzeria , but the staff is super friendly and well mannered. Big plus from me for making my stay enjoyable. read more

I work in the area and this has become my new lunch spot. The food is above average and its selection is big. It is a good alternative to a deli. I like their salads and wraps, however I wish they would add more drink/snack options like chips, pretzels and soda. The ones they offer are minimal and are brands that I never purchase. Average delivery times seems to be about 30-45 minutes and if you go there during peak lunch times don't expect a parking spot. Also, they claim you can order online but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. read more

My go to lunch spot when in the area, the pizza is good, the sandwiches are consistent and the hot food selection is large. The pizza chef sings while he prepares the pies and Pete at the register is always good for a laugh. What I like best is they appreciate the business and always take care of me as a regular.. And that counts quite a bit in my book. read more

Came here on a whim during my lunch hour with a co-worker. Service was super friendly. First checked out the hot food selection but by the time we got there most of the trays were pretty barren. They had a pizza section and also a salad counter as well as a whole list of sandwiches. I ordered the Chicken Capri panini - came with a bag of chips and pickles. It was amazing! Grilled chicken - arugula - fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. (the menu says it has red sauce on it too but I told them to skip the sauce) The pita they used was so flavorful - the chicken had an authentic grilled taste and texture - juicy too! And the lady behind the counter was right about the pickles they were great. For the price and quality this place is bound to become a regular for my Friday lunch outings. read more

I went here lunch time and got a margherita slice and a grandma slice. Nice people but the slices looked like they had been sitting there for a while, and weren't really tasty. It cost $9.23 for two slices. Terrible price read more

I stopped by here to pick up some pizza. I must have came here at the wrong time. Employees were eating behind the counter, near the food they serve. The food itself was good.... until I saw one of the employees smoking inside the kitchen. As much as I love ash flavored food, I think I will pass and never come here again. Stage Doors East in Farmingdale/Melville area is a great deli for lunch--as I've only eaten lunch so far. I have gotten Panini's mostly and I am a huge fan! I love the Cuban and the Stage Door special with Russian dressing--amazing! Corned beef and provolone-- pastrami thinly sliced onions yumm. Just the right amount of meat--and great flavor combination. I like it on a pressed hero--i am telling you if you like a good pressed sandwich like i do--this is the place to go. Comes with a pickle and chips for a great deal i think $6.99--cant beat it!! Will keep ordering my lunch from here-also delivery is very reliable! read more

I have been a regular customer for the past 8 years. Ever since they have changed over ownership Ive been very disappointed. The food quality and prices have increased by a lot. I'm paying $2 more for my breakfast then I normally did. There reasoning was the increased cost of eggs. I'm truly disappointed because this used to be my favorite place to get breakfast. I miss the old employees and former ownership. I expressed my feelings this morning when I told them that is ridiculous how the price of my omelet and home fries jumped up $2. They claimed average increases were about 50 cents. read more

I order from them several times per week. They have among the fastest delivery around. Their chicken soup is so good, the best around locally I've had in Farmingdale/Melville, Plainview area. Prices are very fair too. The wraps are pretty good too. read more

They asked for drink orders and we were left alone for a long time until the drinks arrived. Though we were ready to order, the server just dropped off our drinks and went to bring another table upstairs. I went down to the counter to get someone to take our order, and it took nearly an hour before our order was in (and even then, they took the order of the second table before taking our party's order). It was almost an hour and a half since we entered the restaurant when the food finally arrived at our table, and then it took so long for someone to come with our check and process payment, we went down to the counter to do it. During this time, another family was seated upstairs and left due to not being attended to. This caused big delays in our day and I had to cancel an appointment because we spent over two hours at this restaurant when we didn't want to. That said, food was good. I got the lemon blueberry pancake, which was a little bit gummy but mostly tasted fine. My brother got the mangu, which is kinda hard to find around here, let alone on the menu of a breakfast brunch restaurant. It was my brother's first time having it, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Besides him choosing scrambled eggs instead of fried eggs, it was very classic mangu breakfast. The real crabmeat omelet was another hit-- crabmeat was so real there were little pieces of shell lining-- really ambitious and deliciously executed. The menu is really fun and the food was overall good. Again, I think the very slow service wasn't on purpose and it's because they didn't anticipate such a large crowd on a Friday, but I would say run if they try to seat you upstairs and you're the only ones up there. Be prepared to wait for a long time if you want the reward of nice food.

The Thai calamari was a little too overcooked and the sweet sauce was cloying. I didn't get to try too much of the French onion soup because my dad almost inhaled it whole, but it was gooey and comforting. I had the honey-soy glazed salmon with broccolini. The salmon was a little dry, but the glaze and cashew went well with it. Maybe a touch of spice could have improved the dish. The broccolini was nicely textured and not too bitter. My mom's fish and chips were underwhelming, though the not-proper "chips" were well fried and seasoned. It was not served with vinegar either. My brother had the Buddha bowl which he enjoyed and felt was a good health conscious option. I did love that they allowed my dad -- who was not feeling too well-- to order just an entree while the rest of the table had the restaurant week menu. I know some restaurants require all members of the table to order off the prix fixe menu sometimes. He had the burger, which was cooked very precisely to medium-rare. We did have dessert though we were stuffed at this point. The sticky toffee pudding cake was lovely, moist, and so decadent without being overly heavy. I ordered the wild berry cheesecake, and while the clearly house made berry compote was a nice touch, it was just a little underwhelming next to the sticky toffee pudding. Overall, we had a good time at the Library Cafe, and though service was a little slow due to sudden rush of diners, it was a fun little weekday dinner. I did see signs for their happy hour, which I'd love to try-- especially their cocktails named after writers!

It is supposed to be on the sweeter side but the alcohol was strong too. As for our main entree, we got the Papperdelle Bolognese which was a veal, pork, beef ragu on ribbon pasta. Very well cooked and the taste and texture went perfectly together. We were so full, but never skip on dessert! I'm personally not a fan of cheesecake, but they have creme brulee cheesecake and rainbow cookie cheesecake which I would have loved to try if it wasn't for the cheesecake. I just recently discovered this deli and thought I would start giving it a try. I went there today to get a salad from the buffet and asked the deli counter worker if he can add grilled chicken to my salad since I am on a special diet and the buffet does not have grilled chicken. This hasn't been a problem until today. The owner/owner's son mentioned he can no longer accommodate my grilled chicken request. I was extremely puzzled because they have the grilled chicken in house already, they should just charge for the grilled chicken and weight of the salad. It just doesn't make sense to lose a customer over grilled chicken. I work for one of the largest companies in Melville and coordinate a lot of meetings, and I was planning to use them for future catering to help the businesses in the area. Was also hoping to open a corporate account with them. After my experience today, I would not give them any personal or corporate catering business. I will continue to do business with Suburban Eats, Gemini & Kitchen Door Deli as they are always consistent and flexible. Having worked in the Melville/Farmingdale area for at least 8 years now; I have to say that Stage Door is the best deli/pizza joint in the area. Everyday there's a variety of specials in the self serve buffet (ranging from quesadillas, chicken Marsala, eggplant rolatini, beef goulash, spinach pies. Just too many to list). They make the best paninis & wraps. And nothing beats having a "hungry man" egg sandwich for breakfast. Sometimes when I have a hungry man, I don't want to eat anything else for the day. Been coming here for years. The deli sandwiches are always delicious and the pizza is great. I have only gotten the salad/lunch buffet a couple times but when I did the food was fresh. It can get crazy here around lunch time but the staff has always been outgoing and helpful. If you are in the area then highly recommended! read more
