Wish I could give zero stars We came here for a special occasion, a birthday dinner, and the entire night was ruined. We ordered shortly after being seated: two cold appetizers and simple entrées. We waited over 90 minutes and received nothing, not even bread. One cold appetizer finally arrived only after we flagged down the server, and it was a total letdown: watery, clearly frozen shrimp that were listed as "jumbo" but were small and flavorless. There was no communication from the staff the entire time regarding the delay. We eventually had to ask what was going on, and only then were told the kitchen had gone on a 10-minute stoppage due to being backed up--but by then we had already been waiting over an hour. No one checked in, no apology, no attempt to make things right. For a restaurant to treat guests like this, especially on a special occasion, is unacceptable. Disorganized, poorly managed, and a complete failure in hospitality. We left hungry, frustrated, and completely disappointed. read more

So, we gave it two tries. We were given hot rolls right out of the oven and plenty of butter. Very good. On our first visit, my husband got the Prime Rib 16 oz which had a market price of $50.00. He did say It was very good but seriously doubted it was actually 16 oz. The au jus looked and tasted very good and beefy which is rare these days. You usually get water down au jus with a salty beef broth taste. I had the chicken pie which I was very excited for as I love chicken pie with a mashed potato topping. The mashed potato was piped on top and looked as though they used the torch to give the potatoes that browned look instead of using the broiled or salamander. The sauce seemed to be more of a cream sauce based instead of your usual chicken pie base, but was certainly OK. However, the chicken was rather strange being cut into exact sized cubes and tasted weird and was very tough and rubbery. It would have been very good if it had not been for the tough chicken. I thought it was me, so we decided to give them another try. We got Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Piccata. The Chicken Piccata was just OK but not very much for the price of $20.00. Usually, you get quite a bowl of Penne but this was not the case. Way overpriced for what you get. The Chicken Parmesan was "inedible". My husband said it was disgusting, so I tried myself. I quickly took the chicken out of my mouth as I could not even chew it. Tough as nails and actually crunched when you ate it and it wasn't from the coating. It was actually that tough. The two pieces were exactly the same shape. Tell tale signs of prepared chicken they buy just heated up. We told the waitress and she was very gracious and apologized and asked if we would like anything else. So, my husband chose the Beer Battered Fish. How bad can beer battered fish be, right? The fish came, it was a "perfect shape" and so over done that the coating was like a rock. It looked like those frozen filets you buy at Market Basket. It came with those dredged "coated fries" like you would get at some sub shop or bar and Cole Slaw that tasted like Market Basket premade. He ate the fish and removed all the coating. Not good, not good at all. I don't know where they are getting their food from but they should quit while their ahead. It's a shame because their dining room is beautiful their servers are polite, friendly and accommodating. They are in an "out of the way" location, but if their food was to die for, people would get there no problem. I have to honestly say the best part of the dinner were the rolls and butter. We've been to a lot of country clubs for dinners and this one doesn't light a candle to others. I seriously don't think their priority is quality. However, if people are thinking about functions or God forbid weddings there, they probably want to try the food out first. Its really not up to "par" with a fine dining experience and would be livid if I were served that level of food at something like a wedding. By the way, I have made Beer Battered Fish and it never comes out a perfect shape. I have made Chicken Parmesan many times and it has never come out tough as nails and two patties exactly the same shape. Get rid of the short order cooks and actually hire a chef. That is if they care about the quality of food they serve. I tried to like it; I really did. But after the $150.00 donation for the two visits, I'm done. The highlight of the entire experience is "Whitney" our server both nights. She is a breath of fresh air, and super accommodating. Thank You Whitney for being so gracious. I noticed the dining room had 2 other parties the first night we were there. The second time there were 4 parties in the entire downstairs. Somethings wrong here. If this place wants to at least be a mediocre fine dining experience, they have to stop buying that prepared food and over cooking in the fryolator and actually start making their own. Last night there were 4 people behind the open kitchen. I have no idea why they need so many people to put out crappy food. In response to Lauren H: Give a call??? Shae Baddour should have come to our table when we had to send back that crappy meal you sent us and explained why you had the nerve to think we would actually pay for that. Not to mention I had to wait and pay for another drink while he ate only part of his second dinner. Worst of all no Manager ever came to our table like other restaurants do....That alone speaks volume about this restaurants management and how its run. Not even an offer for free dessert!!!. Although Whitney was left to deal with this situation and did so graciously, its NOT her job. When food has to be returned to the kitchen, that's a BIG problem if you actually strive for customer satisfaction. BTW...Employee Lauren has been answering the same type complaints since 2018. BEAUTIFUL LOCATION/POOR SERVICE During a warm May evening, my husband and I were looking forward to dining outside on their back patio overlooking the beautiful Atkinson Resort golf course. Checked out their menu online and it looked good. We made reservations and were told to wait in our car until they called us to verify table was ready. We were to wear masks when walking in and out, removing when at table. Server was to wear mask at all times. Sounded fine. They called us promptly at reservation time. It was truly beautiful sitting outside and tables were spaced very far apart (much further than the recommended 6 feet). Overall, very few tables outside so social distancing was not an issue. Waitress came over to table with mask on below her nose and took our drink order. We ordered the french onion soup, caesar salad, and mushroom ravioli. Two people came out and served us with our order. There were 7-8 small ravioli for $22. Tasty but not filling, so plan on ordering an appetizer and or dessert. We only saw our waitress at the beginning to take our order and then when she returned to give us the bill. She never came back to see how everything was, to refill our waters, to take a second drink order, or to ask if we wanted dessert and coffee. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. And we wanted dessert! Disappointed but will give it another try because it is such a nice venue. I was only going to give it 2 stars but gave it an additional star for the view. Ya know, Covid and all, they are following good protocols and I felt safe roasting and basting in the heat and humidity. The wine list, is well... eh, but ice water on a scorcher day worked fine. For starters, GET THE SHRIMP CAKE. ITS PERFECT. Crispy and super chunky on the shrimp. Not too shabby on their turkey club - 3 deckers of a perfect BLT with turkey. I've been coming here for many years and the food is always very good and the majority of the waitstaff is very friendly and on top of things. I like that they do change up the menu for the seasons. I do however wish that there were a few more vegetarian options on the menu. They HAD the BEST dinner rolls ever...and then they just recently changed them to these boring flaky rolls. That is why the deduction for the one star. If they bring back the amazing rolls, I would change it to 5-stars. read more

Food was actually really good for the most part, service was good our waitress was really good. We were there tonight for my wife's birthday. We each started with French onion soup and it was delicious, beverages came quickly. My wife got chicken parm, it looked good and she said it was really good. I had the king cut prime rub, end cut. It was delicious. About halfway through the meal three or four woman came in and were sat a few booths away from us. The male host was apparently friends with them. He stood at their table giggling and chatting with them for the rest of the meal. It was just distracting, and not needed when I was trying to enjoy my $60 per person meal. My wife had the blond brownie Sunday for dessert and it was good. I had the creme Brulee. I was pretty disappointed. The menu states it comes with an Italian Cookie, which it didn't. Not a big deal, but for $7 a little attention to detail is good. Secondly the custard was really firm, firmer then custard should be almost like it was old. I wouldn't be surprised if it was made several days earlier. All in all the service, atmosphere, and meal was good. Been going there for years. Problem is it hasn't changed much since I've been going there. Beautiful venue but the bar needs a face lift. Time to ditch the drop ceiling, spray it and do some cool pendants and make the place pop. All the TVs need to be updated as does the menu, as well as the beer and whiskey offering. We took my mother to their brunch buffet and it was really good. We've been here for events (well to the country club at least) and the food really wasnt that good at all, the amtosphere was though. So anyways, i never really been to a brunch buffet and it was goooooood. We were happy with the breakfast and lunch selections. Scrambled, fried and made to order omlettes, Sausage, bacon, home fries, pancakes, crepes, chicken and rice, hash, eggs benedict, ham, prime rib, assorted cakes, salads and breads. The price was about $20 per person which includes all the yummy food you can eat and non alcoholic drinks. We did have to make a reservation too and it was a good thing because it was pretty busy, but there were really no food lines. The only thing was the set up of the foods were a little awkward, but whatever, it was gooood. The atmosphere was nice..it felt like i was at a ski lodge in colorado as there was some kind of cross country ski event going on outside. I hope to ome back again. read more

Hi, Just went there for lunch. Read the menu online, and it's a real bait and switch thingy here. The "real" prices are a lot more on the actual menu there, then you read on the net. We got lunch size baked haddock, and it's supposed to be $13.95, not $17.95. Other items were much higher. Over $20.00. The food was just ok. Nothing special. Service is horrible here. The wait staff are visibly miserable. .. which is unfortunate because the food is good, drinks (if you can flag down a server to give you one) are great, atmosphere, especially on the terrace is perfect, picturesque, wonderful. Quite honestly, the first time I went here I walked out because I sat at a table for 15-20 minutes without drink service. Last time I went, It took 20-30 minutes to just get a drink and it was apparently a CHORE to serve us. I've seen many others get up and walk out after not being served as well. You just feel bad for the servers because of the sad, non committal attitude, until you don't get served, then you are annoyed. Once I found out that the stage coach grille was opened to the public and not just the members at the Country Club I made frequent and current pit stops here. I come in at least once if not twice a month. It is a nice place being inside the Atkinson Country Club, but I enjoy the fact that the Stagecoach Grill is laid back and casual. I've noticed some of the prior reviews aren't great but I really enjoy this place. I really enjoy coming in for a burger (I think compared to most places in a 15 Mile radius its one of the best), or their plate of fish. I think the food is what you need after a long work week. The beverages are always cold and plenty. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who has not been. I think its at least worth a try. I promise you will not be disappointed. read more

This place needs a face lift ... interior of this place is dark, old and dingy. Especially the old, stained and very worn rug . The food is sub-par at best, have eaten here many times hoping for a better result, it just gets worse each and every time!!! The wait staff are old and move very slowly with no sense of urgency!!! A year ago, I gave this restaurant 2 stars because between 2009-2012 the place had gone way down hill. The food got lousy, the service was awful, the menu changed and there was an air of desperation about the place. The same manager seems to still be running things (how he kept his job is beyond me, but that's another story) but things are looking up for the Stagecoach Grille. I am guessing there is a new chef and crew in the kitchen and it shows. We have had some really good meals here in the past year, the highlight being the braised pork shank with roasted root vegetables and Parmesan risotto. You can't get any better than that. The baked haddock is good, as is the Prime Rib, which is juicy and delicious. The chicken marsala is also delicious and elevated to a higher level. The french onion soup is flavorful and cheesy. All great! There is still room for improvement. For a "nice" restaurant, they serve sub-par breads, desserts, and salad dressings. It is cafeteria quality and that is just not acceptable at a restaurant of this caliber. The food coming out of the kitchen is great and deserves a high quality supporting cast to make the dining experience a success. We have had two good servers the last two times we came, so that has also been an improvement. One guy, who looks like Keanu Reeves, was especially good. Like all things, it is the attention to details that make all the difference. Side note: We did have brunch here two years ago and it was NOT good, partially because the selection of breakfast pastries (croissants, muffins, etc.) and the desserts were of such low quality that we did not bother taking more than one bite. This is a management problem, not a chef problem. Perhaps it has been fixed, but judging from the lousy rolls and desserts they still serve at dinner, probably not. Nice atmosphere but food is not that good. Been here several times, but last time was worst (July 2018). Too bad because it's a pretty place and lots of nice scenery outside. As far as our food, I got pulled pork which was supposed to be served on a brioche bun, but it came on a toasted hot dog bun. I am a big rib/pork person, but i've never had pulled pork on a hot dog bun. didn't make the cut for me. The actual pork was not excellent, edible, but not great. Another person in our party got shrimp scampi but wanted it with olive oil instead of butter (dairy allergy). There were hardened clumps of something on her plate and we couldn't identify what it was. I thought it looked like melted cheese that had hardened, but there wasn't supposed to be cheese in the dish. The positive thing was that management took her plate right away and let her order something else free of charge. that was good to do. Other food dishes in our party were acceptable. Drinks were good. Service was not good. Very nice waitress, but after we got our food she did not return. In fact, someone in our party had to get up and go get our second drinks from the bar. HOw sad is that? If it were busy I could see why, but there was literally ONE other party in the entire room!! I"m sorry, that is not acceptable. We were a large party, she should have been at our beck and call since the place was empty on a Saturday afternoon. the people were really nice here, but service lacked a little and the food is just not good unfortunately. read more

I have been a patron of this restaurant at the Atkinson Country Club for over 15 years. Up until the last week I viewed the quality of the dining experience as inconsistent but we kept coming and hoping because we like the atmosphere. I made a reservation for myself and my two sons for the Friday night before Father's Day and specified a booth. When we arrived we were told that they did not have the reservation. After a short wait we were seated at a lousy table. Still hoping, my wife and I arrived yesterday for lunch and requested an outside table; told waiting list for outside so we sat at a high-top in the bar area; at least 6 empty tables outside and viewed other customers complaining; ordered drinks, chowder and entrees; after 20 minutes asked for bread but was told that no one put it in the oven (it was 1:30 pm); after 30 minutes asked about the chowder; a few minutes later a server brought out ONE chowder; another one followed soon after; 2 minutes later the same server brought out the entrees and asked if he could clear away the chowder that we had just begun to consume; both entrees were awful so we asked for the check; bartender asked if we wanted to pack anything up and we declined so she sent the manager over; manager asked about our dining experience and we politely gave him a recap; he stated that he had only been there for 3 weeks and needed our input so he could use his 30 + years of experience to make improvements; paid the $83! check and gave the bartender a $20 cash tip (it wasn't her fault); went home 12 miles away; 6 pm went to the supermarket and upon check-out discovered that the bartender never gave me back my credit card; it took 3 phone calls before they could confirm that they had the card; drove back, picked up the card and confronted the manager and let him know that even though he had 30+ years in the business that he never offered to take anything off the bill, offered us dessert or even a cup of coffee. A smart manager would have at least given us a $50 gift card and asked us to give him another chance. NOTHING. We're done! Oh, also, there are always at least 4 or 5 host and hostesses and 2 managers and they still struggle to get people seated. The epitome of mismanagement. The owners must not really care about his place. Better stick to building homes and selling lumber. read more

We ate at the Grill, last night. The service was awful. We were seated at 6:45 but did not receive our salads until 8:15 PM. Our food took another another 45 minutes. It was a perfect summer evening, perfect temp, sunshine, lite breeze and great friends. We all wanted something different, to try a new place. That brought us to the Stagecoach Grill, the seated us outdoors on the patio over looking the beautifully manicured grounds. Our server was fantastic, she was personable, fun, attentive but not pushy. We started with the calamari and spinach dip, both delicious. Dinner ranged from turkey tips to shrimp, all were fantastic. We wanted to make a few changes to the listed side dishes. Nothing was an issue as long as we were happy. This is a top choice in our book! read more

Went for brunch as part of a larger party. Food was generally good however the service fell quite short. Seemed to be lots of confusion between the wait staff and the kitchen. 45 min between the first persons food coming out and the last person getting their plates, many people didn't get their sides at all. Totally understand the service challenges with bigger parties but unfortunately it was visibly overwhelming for them. read more

I am giving this restaurant 2 stars because as the other reviewers stated the food is sub-par. Could be so much better. My husband and I love the atmosphere here, very comfortable, beautiful view overlooking the golf course. You would hope that they could find a way to provide much better food. The menu has been the same for years and is quite boring. but even with that the food is just not very good. My last visit I ordered the special which was Chicken Picatta, it was so disappointing, how hard is it to make Chicken Picatta? it was served with whole chicken breast that appeared to be boiled, no flavor, Picatta is suppose to have thin chicken breast sauted, the qty of capers were pitiful, again not adding enough flavor and there was no taste of lemon at all.. Plus they added broccoli, who adds broccoli to Chicken Picatta? Very disappointing. I wish they could just figure out the food issue as the atmosphere is so enjoyable. read more
