Probably the most chill pumpkin picking experience I've had, bar none. Stakey's boasts 26 acres of land dedicated to pumpkin picking right off the vine and the more than deliver. You can walk across the fields, picking at your perusal without really bumping into anyone. Pumpkins will run 79c per pound but no entry fee required! There's also a 2 food stands, a store selling gourds and decorations, hay rides and corn mazes. Well worth a visit if you're looking for a more lowkey experience amongst the pumpkin hype! read more

Super surprised there isn't a million reviews for this place since it's the #1 advertised on News 12 Long Island. YES. This is the farm that used to do the "all you can carry" but things have obviously changed in 2020 and dogs are also no longer allowed. Now that we're all upset; we know why it's a 3 star review. The plot is huge and goes on forever. Even through covid; family's flocked to the farm to pick up their pumpkins & hay stacks. We walked through with masks even outside and at a 6ft distance. The disappointment this year was the crop. It took forever (even though we hit the farm first week of October) to find a pumpkin that wasn't already rotting. Something is either in the water; like they drowned or animals ate them or too much hand sanitizer! I have no idea but as we turned them over they had holes & dings, cuts and sad spots all over. We accumulated a bunch of pumpkins all different colors which was nice that they have an assortment of gourds and textures. Damaged or not we picked what we could. Some rotted within a week from too much damage but the pics were fun to take and my mom actually enjoyed trying to find one that wasn't gashed. Lol. The best pumpkin picking place on the island that allows your furry friend! Plus all the pumpkins are still on the vines and not just thrown on the yard like every other pumpkin patch! We went an 30 mins before they closed and still had a great time! We did the all you can carry! The workers were very helpful and friendly! After grabbing a few pumpkins we got some roasted corns, Apple cider and some donuts. They have a big picnic area, if you want you can spend a day here! Friendly Staff, Plenty of Parking, Fair Prices, HUGE Pumpkin Farm, Perfect For Both Children & Adults. Columbus Day was my first time going to Stakey's. I anticipated a crowd and I was correct but the grounds are so large that it didn't feel crowded at all. The farm should be very easy to locate. Staff were directing traffic into spaces which made parking smooth. There were plenty of spots so even during peak times. I recommend coming early. The prices are very fair which makes the overall experience much more enjoyable. Pumpkins were 69¢ per lb or all you can carry for $30. All you can carry is more than ideal if your interested in getting 3-4 medium sized pumpkins, maybe less. The pumpkins are very heavy, so if your strong and have long arms I definitely recommend giving "all you can carry" a shot! Hayrides & The Corn Maze were $6 pp. Donuts were $5 for a pack of 6 & the Roasted Corn was $3. All the other prices for drinks & other foods weren't bad either. They also sell mums and other flowers that were fairly priced. *I do have to say they have plenty of picnic tables so if picnics are your thing & you want to save some $$, pack a few sandwiches drinks for the kids. The Pumpkin Farm itself was HUGE and had a ton of healthy pumpkins for picking! They had so many options when it comes to specialty pumpkins which I liked. The farm is well taken care of and put together. The staff members here were more than helpful & extremely friendly. The donuts were absolutely spectacular!! A word of advice...buy a few boxes, they're downright delicious! I also enjoyed the freshly roasted corn. Stakey's is a place where both adults & children can come to celebrate fall. This is not only a great place to take the kids for the day but also a great for a day date or spending time with friends. Really cool pumpkin patch with so many different types of pumpkins. You have to really look under the leaves to see the pumpkins but there are so many varieties. It is easy to spend $100 on pumpkins but the experience is worthwhile. read more

Yesterday, myself, my girlfriend, and her family headed out east to do a little early season pumpkin picking. They've been coming here for years (she and her sisters have shirts!), but this was my first rodeo at Stakey's. Being a born and raised Nassau County-er limits me to farms nearby my area where pumpkins can be properly picked, so it was refreshing to walk through an actual pumpkin patch and pick some orange produce straight from the vine. And when we started walking into that patch I realized it wasn't any skimpy little plot of dirt. It was a full blown field with two huge sides of pumpkins, gourds, and tons of vine-grown veggies and fruits. It was so large that at one point we lost half our group on the other side of the patch. With a wheelbarrow full of pumpkins, we checked out at the front of the patch which presents you with a challenge: carry as much as you can from the patch to the checkout counter for one flat price, or pay per pound. With the amount we had it was a pound kind of deal, though part of me wanted to see if we could actually carry the 15 or so pumpkins and things we had. Outside of the patch is a lot of farm fun with a store filled with items that can be purchased for your lawn/home, a greenhouse, snacks/drinks and apple cider donuts made on premises, and a little game in which you can man a water pump and race with a few others to try and get a rubber ducky from one end of a trough to the other (I won the second time). Overall, the staff was friendly and the experience was one to remember as it gave us plenty of wonderful pumpkins for carving and left me with a new experience I would love to repeat again. read more

Free entrance! Thank goodness. You know I'm all about saving money. They have flowers, halloween decorations, food stands, kid games, face painting, picnic tables, photo stands and a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE field of pumpkins. I do love that they sort it out by the type of pumpkins. Each row tells you what kind of pumpkins they are and little facts about it. SO COOL. I never knew there were so many different kinds! I do recommend you going earlier in the fall season, because by the time I got there (mid october) the "different" ones were gone. They had so much more of regular orange pumpkins though. I've never been to a field of pumpkins that huge. It's great. You look back and see its a short field, but off to the side, it's far. Make sure you have walking shoes because it'll feel like you walked to Canada by the time it's over The decorations were pretty expensive. I saw a snowman metal plain decoration for $30. Did they know walmart has that for $10? They do have a bounce house for kids which is $3, more reasonable than their decoration. I love their "greenhouse" of plants. I saw kale or cabbage in pots, I saw sunflowers, daisy's, mums for $24. It's a lot more friendly-family-save-your-money-you-got-bills type of place than Harbes. read more

This is my second year coming to Stakey's for pumpkins! My boyfriend and I happened across it last year because, luckily for us, it was open on a weekday when we decided to go. We LOVE it here. The pumpkin field is so large and there are so many varieties of pumpkins that it's impossible to leave disappointed. We love that you are able to pick your own pumpkins right off the vine, true authentic pumpkin picking at its finest! We went home with pumpkins of all different shapes and sizes, including gourds, white pumpkins, and small and large orange pumpkins, and were beyond happy with our choices. On our way to our car with our pumpkins this year, we were stopped multiple times and complimented on what we were told, and believed ourselves, was the PERFECT pumpkin. We were so happy to have found the perfect pumpkin to bring home, along with a bunch of others. The best part of Stakey's is the 30 dollars for all you can carry. I love watching my boyfriend attempt to carry 10 pumpkins at once while walking the 15 or so feet to the register to pay. It's so funny to see everyone around you trying to do the same and definitely makes the experience even more fun! Had a good time at this large pumpkin farm in Aquebogue which has large pumpkin patches, a lengthy wagon ride, mums as well as snacks and such. It's one of the few farms left that don't charge to get in which is a plus. Only thing extra is the $6 wagon ride and the corn maze is the same price. Pumpkins will cost quite a lot at $.69/ lb but you can opt to take the all you can carry challenge for $30. One person has to stand behind a line, stack as many pumpkins as he or she can possibly carry, walk 10 feet to the counter without dropping any and you get the whole bundle for $30! I got 6 nice sized pumpkins for $30. Not bad. The trick is to stack them stems down. Only complaint is that this place is insanely crowded with seriously long lines at check out. Take the all you can carry challenge and obviously, it's a shorter line. Will be back next year and recommended. read more

Despite the year to year uncertainty I still recommend checking them out. No matter the down years I've had at Stakey's the good years outweigh them. When the weather cooperates there is a great variety of pumpkins from baking to carving and everything in between. In addition to your traditional pumpkins they offer butternut squash, acorn squash and miniature gourds that are three for $1. If you're looking for more than pumpkins Stakey's can still take care of you. They offer several large green houses that are brimming with mums, corn stock, Halloween signs, decorations and more. If you sign the guest book during your visit you'll receive free tickets for a hayride the next year. This is a great place to go pumpkin picking and have corn and donuts and cider. The only draw back are the bees that love the corn and donuts as much as we do. My family has been going here for years and it never gets old - maybe a bit crowded at times but we ALWAYS have such a good time. Keep up the good work and we will be coming back year after year. This was my first time visiting Stakey's. I'm very adamant about pumpkin picking at a place where you can actually get them off the vine, not just pick one from a pile that was already gathered. I grew up going to Lewin's farm which I love, but unfortunately they were out of pumpkins by the time we decided to go. I have family members that have been here before and recommended it, and I can see why. They had a lot of property with many pumpkins to choose from even with Halloween being around the corner. There were wheelbarrows available to carry your pumpkins in which was nice. You can either pay by pound for the pumpkins, or pay $30 for all you can carry. They basically make you walk from a white 'starting' line to the registers, and for all the pumpkins in your arms it's $30 (not allowed to put any in pockets). They also had mums and other plants for sale, as well as some scarecrows and other lawn ornaments. There was a bouncy house and face painting for the kids. For food there was a snack bar, cider donuts and roasted corn. Port-a-potties were the only restrooms available. There were also hay rides around the property. read more

My fiancee and I stopped by here on a rainy Tuesday to buy some pumpkins. The place was pretty empty since it was Tuesday and rainy but we didn't mind. It was late October so there was pumpkins missing but as long as you didn't mind walking you could deff still find some great ones! We ended buying about 4 pumpkins for $20. We also decided to get apple cider donuts which were delicious. I liked that there wasn't a cover to get in and you only had to pay for what you wanted. You can also pay a flat fee for pumpkins if you can carry them from their white line to the register, which would be great for a family. read more

I've been trekking from western Nassau out east to "deep" suffolk, as we say to take our yearly pumpkin picking trip for the last couple of years. Each year we have tried a different farm. We have been to Lewin's, Finks, Harbes and now Stakey's. Hands down Stakey's takes the prize of them all. We visited today after briefly stopping by Harbes in Mattituck. It was over crowded, a 35 minute wait to get a hot dog (we did not wait, heard someone who had just received theirs). At Harbes they only allow you to buy by the pound. Knowing this ahead of time we picked a single very large pumpkin, as well at 13 mini pumpkins to give as gifts to children in our child's class. To my surprise when I put my single pumpkin on the scale, along with with the 13 little ones which were a dollar each, my total was 45$. Doing math 45-13=32. So it was 32$ for a single pumpkin??? I asked the cashier if it was correct and she nodded. Needless to say I did not purchase a single 32$ pumpkin. Leaving with an upset pre-schooler who had been waiting to get his hands on a pumpkin since July, I did need to think twice, but no where on earth is a pumpkin worth 32$. Sitting in the car a few minutes, we remembered seeing a sign for another U-pick pumpkin farm a few miles back down sound ave. (While we waited in bumper to bumper traffic to get to Harbes in the first place) So we backtracked to the sign and followed the arrow and made the left turn onto west lane. Needless to say a few minutes after turning onto the road we reach Stakeys Pumpkin farm. We found that it had maybe 1/4 the amount of foot traffic as Harbes, There was ample parking. It would probably hold about another 200 cars before there was parking issues. We arrived, bought a 2$ ticket for the bounce house, let our son get all his pent up pumpkin abandonment aggression get out of his system and then proceeded to what seemed like an endless amount of pumpkins. Like when your looking out into the ocean, and you can see it touch the horizon kind of big. There was a sign that stated "All one person could carry, 30$" or ".69/pound". I didn't think that could be correct since the pumpkin I just tried to pick was 32$ and I could have easily fit another and maybe another of the same size in my arms. We wandered around picking all different types. We found 2 equally large pumpkins of the 32$ pumpkin ilk. We found large cheese pumpkins, gourds, and other different looking ones, all while enjoying picking them ourselves, our child excitedly running from each pumpkin explaining the different marks and stems. Stopping at all the fun photo-op cut outs to take pictures along the way. Once our wagon was full we proceeded towards the exit which consisted of a white line a 8-10 foot distance and then about 4 wooden tables. The sign read "30$ all one person can carry, any that drop are charged .69/pound" The very helpful staff member advised us to stack the pumpkins stem side down! A great idea. Never the less, my wife stacked my arms full of pumpkins, the 2 large ones I spoke about before, a large white cheese pumpkin, a medium sized pumpkin and about 3 double your fist sized pumpkins stuck in between them. Not being able to see over the pumpkins in front of me and me doing my best Limbo backwards slanted walk, my wife guided me forward....slowly step by step until I heard the cashier advise me I had made it. After getting the pumpkins from my arms onto the table, I was in shock the amount of pumpkins that lay before me. I may have been more in shock as I was only required to pay 30$ for them. Needless to say the entire experience from stepping out of my car, to stepping back in was immensely enjoyable. What an amazing staff, who makes you feel right at home. The incredible savings and universe-sized fields of pumpkins, along with the many other fall staples like hay rides, corn, apple cider donuts, Halloween shop, face painting and snack bar makes this my now one and only fall destination. My advice? Avoid Harbes and others, beat the traffic, spend less and have a better time at Stakey's. read more

Today was our first time here. I had heard such good things about it so I figured it was worth the over hour drive in each direction to check it out. It was a wonderful piece of land. Rows upon rows of pumpkins to pick from. Lovely flower displays. A very nice corn maze etc. Unfortunately, we will never go back. The whole experience was ruined at the end when we were checking out at the pumpkin line and the employee who was checking us out was VERY rude. Caught completely off guard and confused by the whole exchange that went on. Almost left the pumpkin on the scale to leave after that. Meh....went here last Saturday to go pumpkin picking, parking was ample but pumpkins were not! Pumpkins mostly seemed dead or damaged, the ones we ended up with are already rotting and probably will end up in the trash in another two days. The store there is cute - but also meh. Employees generally all have bad attitudes from our experience with them. No selling of fresh made pies which surprised me. Just sort of lame, wouldn't go back. I usually go to Colonial Springs Farm in Wheatley Heights every year, and will be sure to return there instead. Stakeys offers a fare rate or point when it comes to purchasing pumpkins, but if you are up for the challenge you can attempt to carry as manny as possible for one low rate of $25. Corn maze, face painting, flowers and a gift shop are on location to make it a all day affair.
