    Lamb Gyro Platter
    James L.

Not sure why the negative reviews. This place was busy on a Friday night. The decor is excellent and reminds us of Greece where we were fortunate enough to travel to many years ago. The food in Greece was really good and I think the food in here is pretty close. We had the lamb gyro platter and we really love the meat. Mousaka has a whole slice of eggplant in the middle. It tasted really good. Service was good as well. My only complaint was the food could be hotter when served. Would love to go back and try other dishes.

To think I passed this restaurant for years-stopped in with my best friend for dinner. We had their seafood platter including prawns, octopus, calamari with side of lemon and potatoes were insanely delicious. Our waiter Endre was attentive and making sure we were taken care of. Desert was equally delicious with Turkish coffee and some Greek special pastries. I cannot wait till my next visit.

Recently went to Stamna for lunch and overall it was a good experience. My entree could've had a bit more flavor but tasty nonetheless. Our waitress was nice but towards the end she took a while to come back to check on us and we were ready to head out. The decor was pretty, reminded me of being at a restaurant in Greece.

Shrimp entree with peppers and Greek Fries

It makes me so sad because I really wanted to love this place!! The food sadly wasn't great. I felt it lacked flavor. I really did not like the fries at all. They were so bland that even adding salt didn't help. The muscles were okay. I got the shrimp entree with peppers and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of shrimp in it. Props to the restaurant for giving so many. We loved the pan fried cheese. The server lit it on fire when he brought it to us. However, service was not good. It was so hard to track our waiter down for the check and she didn't come to check on us. My partner and I tried to get her attention multiple times and nothing worked. The place is decorated with evil eyes which is so nice! The place is always packed when I pass by it so I'm a bit surprised at the lack of flavor in the food and subpar service.

Pink snapper, String Beans, lemon potatoes, Greek salad

We came for dinner on a busy Saturday night but were able to be seated right away. We started with the grilled calamari which was soft, tender, and had a nice char. For our entree, we shared the 2.5lb pink snapper. It came with the choice of 3 sides so we opted for the lemon potatoes, string beans, and Greek salad. I was expecting regular green beans but these were broad and had amazing flavor! They're stewed in a tomato sauce that was very flavorful. The lemon potatoes were simple, lemony, and good. The side Greek salad was okay. The fish had a nice meaty texture and was grilled well. It lacked a bit of seasoning but came with a side of lemon olive oil and lemon wedges that helped. The meal was very filling and satisfying. This wasn't our first visit to Stamna and won't be our last!

Came here for my sisters birthday on a Sunday @ 12. We were able to get a table for 6 right away. They gave little crayons and a kids menu for my two daughters which is always a perk for me as a mom of a 2 and 4 year old. I got the seafood salad which was delicious and they were not cheap with the seafood. I loved the starter bread that they gave to us. Everyone enjoyed their meal and it was a good lunch.

Lovely place with a BYOB policy, great atmosphere and appetizers menu. Our party of five were seated immediately on a Friday night and the wait staff was spot on and very attentive. The food was superb. If you're not into Greek cuisine there is chicken and kabobs. The restaurant is right, but there is outdoor seating. Street parking available. A well known place with repeat customers for a reason.

This is a rare instance that atmosphere really drove my experience. The restaurant is decorated perfectly but the real star of the show is Niko. Probably single handedly one of the best waiters I've ever had. We were seated promptly but we were waiting for a little while before anyone attended to us. I saw Niko scold the other waiters who were just standing aroung while we were waiting for service. I should have known from that moment on this guy was top notch. He was so helpful and inviting he really drove my experience here. I hope management sees this and uses him to train all incoming waiters, he's truly great. OK all that aside. The food was good, clean food, something you feel good after eating even after eating a whole branzino, lamb or porgy. :) One of the best desserts I've ever had in my life was that galaktoboureko. Maybe because it was my first time having it but oh my that was a fantastic experience. I've never had Greek coffee and I was super super surprised, great coffee that has me running on Amazon looking for a briki to make the coffee. I look forward to coming back here again really soon. Cheers!

Love the food here Great hospitality and great taste of Greek food Definitely recommend

Ordered gyro for takeout. No pride here in what is served. Not sure if they ran out of cucumbers or forgot. For how salty the meat is I would expect more than just 2 slices of tomato and a few little pieces of red onion.

The space was large enough to hold a larger group of us which is great. The food was solid. We ordered tatziki, saganaki (pan fried cheese), and salad to start. The tatziki and the pita bread it came with were delicious and the saganaki was also great. The salad was underdressed sour wasn't as great. The portion sizes of the platters were huge and very filling. I don't recommend the rice but the fries and a lemon potatoes were very good on the side. All the meats were very tasty.

I've never seen it where seating wasn't available though I always get takeout. Food: VERY good. My husband always orders the Athenian gyro which he says is very good. I always order with whatever platform has the best deal. Because this was a spontaneous trip I didn't do my research though and now realize I messed up. I used Menufy which is their business platform and was disappointed that I could only get 3 toppings though it says the toppings are "unlimited." DoorDash is up to 4 toppings and is actually $1 cheaper for the build your own. From what I've seen DoorDash is usually least expensive with the most incentives so try that first.

We had a large group, and they seated us at 2 separate and crowded tables in the side room, which was less than ideal (with a reservation). It also got really hot because the room was packed. They were pushing us to order everything family style, but everyone wanted to order individually. The two of us weren't super hungry, and asked for our entrees to be on a separate check before ordering, which they would not do. Since I knew we were going to end up splitting the check with the one table, I ended up getting a more expensive entree to make up for the apps and drinks we weren't having (I already had a drink from the bar and my husband doesn't drink). I settled on the special lobster carbonara (which I think was $75). Good, but overpriced. My husband had the filet mignon - it was cooked as requested but we prefer more seasoning. A friend passed her grilled scallops over to us to finish - I took one bite and it tasted like ammonia. I discreetly spat it out. For her sake, I hope the rest didn't taste like that. The atmosphere was loud and hard to have conversations. They did a conga line around the restaurant later in the evening. Not really my scene. Service was slow and it didn't seem like they could handle big groups, even when split up. We ended up staying here for about 3 hours. We ended up leaving before we were even offered dessert. Also, keep in mind they have valet parking.

Its English name comes from a Greek legend: Zeus had an affair with a beautiful woman named Io. When Hera, his wife, discovered his infidelity, she turned Io into a cow and created a horsefly to sting her on the rump. Io jumped clear across the strait. Thus, "bous" = "cow" and "poros" = "crossing place": Bosphorus = "crossing place of the cow." Located off of busy Franklin Avenue in Nutley, my partner, our friends, and I have decided on our dinner at this family-owned-and-run BYOB establishment, which has been open since 1995. A reservation was made for a party of 4 by calling their restaurant. Upon arrival after three years, we were welcomed by Nora, the owner, and made our way to a table by the piano inside, evoking a cozy, thoughtfully designed, upscale vibe with music playing softly. Their menu features Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. For starters, we decided on the Puffed Rill Pastry and Grape Leaves. Our main meal consisted of all lamb dishes (Lamb Shish Kebab, Beyti Kebab, Lamb Chops, and Lamb Sauté). Our food was fresh, well seasoned, and cooked to perfection, accompanied by a beautifully presented dish. Everything was authentically made with love here. Wish we could have stayed for dessert, as they looked amazing, but some of us were in a rush. It's definitely on the higher end cost but worth the taste. Our visit ended with a hug and a piece of candy.
